Multiple tab groups

Hi everyone,
Has anyone created or seen a multi tab form?
Something like the screenshot below:
I'm having trouble when loading the xml all folders get grouped. However when previewed from B1 Studio works fine.
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Pedro Magueija

Okay, so I see that items are added in reverse order ? You add the button first, and the tab page it goes onto last ?
If so it seems to me that in the button the from_pane="0" to_pane="0" bit determines that the button should appear on the tab page with index 0 (i.e. the first one)
What I wonder about, is that a button is an item with a clear declaration (type="4" uid="Item_8"). Why do you not need to declare the tab page type ?
Is this an implicit thing, i.e. if you don't determine the type it becomes a panel / tab page ?
If that is so, can you explicitly determine a panel / tab page ?

  • Setting multiple tab groups as home?

Here's what I'm trying to do:
I have been using 2 separate tab groups frequently. The first of these are a trio of tabs I use as my home page (all 3, by using the | separator between URLs)
Simply saving my session on close is NOT sufficient!
I often surf about, my tabs become somewhat befuddled and I don't want to start from where I left off when opening FF again, I want to start fresh from my tabs, but in two groups! (so please, don't tell me "Options>Show my windows and tabs from last time" That's not the result I'd like!)
I would LOVE for my "Show my homepage" option to open two Tab Groups.
Is there a similar separator, akin to |, which FF recognizes as a Tab Group separator? Is there a way to save all Tab Groups as my Homepage? so that I am not forced to muck about with whatever mess I've left behind when I closed my last session?

Install the add-ons like speed dial and set it as your home page. Recomended speed dial add on is "FVD speed dial, new tab" install it.

  • Is there a way to move tab group from one window to another?

I have several windows open, and some of them have multiple tab groups. Is there an easy way to move these tab groups between the windows?
I saw the workaround of making bookmarks of all the tabs in one group, move to the target window and open the bookmarks there.
To be honest I found this one a slow and messy way to do things and hope to find a better solution or raise this as a feature request.

    Hi bsbs,
I don't think so, there are bugs that do exist about this as well
*Tab group not available in customize tool bar in a second window if tab groups is open [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=840579]
Patrick helped me find this add on [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabgroups-manager/] where it groups tab groups into other groups, and there are bugs that have the [feature request] title in them.

  • How select multiple tabs within Firefox's Group your tabs window?

    Hei there
How do I go about selecting (if possible) multiple tabs within Firefox's Group your tabs window?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Portmanteau,
Currently selecting one tab will bring it to focus. I have tried to command select as well as control select.
There are a could of add ons however you can check out. Including [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/tabgroups-manager/ Tab Groups manager]
    I hope this helps.

  • How do I move multiple tabs into a tab group in one go?

It would be nice if the Tab Group feature would support standard Windows conventions for multi-selection, so I wouldn't have to move tabs between groups only one at a time. If I want to move 20, say, it quickly becomes tedious. Shift-select and CTRL-select should be made available if this feature is to be truly useful.
Please feel free to enlighten me if I've missed some method by which this is currently doable. However, I would still suggest to add the above feature, so it conforms to Windows standards. :-)

As far as I can tell, it doesn't look like this is part of Tab Groups yet. It would definitely make a great feature though! :)

  • I would like to open a Firefox browser with multiple tabs per topic, like work1/work2/hobby and see that given name in the taskbar, instead of the tab-name

I usually open a new browser window per subject, let's say I'm shopping online for something and open about 5 tabs for that, but in the same time I am working on 2 systems which are lookalike, but defenitely should not be mixed average 6 tabs open per subject. Also I read something on my hobby and I open another window and want to read a few tabs on that.
I don't want them to mix and preferably I'd like to see a self-chosen subject for a minimized window in the taskbar.
Is there a feature like this or is it possible to add a feature like this?

Another alternative by the way maybe to use multiple Firefox profiles. I will give more information on that if required. It is fairly easy if you are used to using computers but not something this forum officially supports with KB articles.
The bult in Tabs groups sounds more like what you want. Did you try that ?
As for trying to interest Developers. You could make a comment using ''feedback'' but I would not hold out much hope unless you yourself know a developer willing to undertake the coding and press for its use. Maybe you would be more likely to interest and get something from add-on developers, assuming a similar add-on does not already exist.
The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.
If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox ''Help'' menu and select ''Submit Feedback...'' or use [https://input.mozilla.org/feedback this link]. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

  • How do I turn off tab groups? It forces the same tabs to reopen in next session

I upgraded to 6.0.1 and experimented with the tab groups. Now I cannot turn it off. It seems to force the same tabs to be opened with the next session. I had (and still have) the warn me when I close multiple tabs. It overrides that option if I click the close the window. It just closes the firefox window and reopens all the tabs with the next session. This nullifies the best feature that firefox had over chrome.
Please help me to get my old Firefox back...

    I'm with you permazorch...
I like them. I want them to stay attached and open all of them when I open FF.
I just wish there was a way to lock them at a particular point.
Occasionally, I mistakenly close a batch of tabs from my second screen... when I close my primary screen, it forgets the second screen tabs, and I have to reopen and regroup the tabs I closed by mistake when I re-open FF...
I love tabs and wish there was a way to keep them in spite of the fact that I might occasionally close them in the wrong sequence by mistake from time to time ...
Any recommendations for locking the tab groups once configured?
Until that time ... Earl J.

  • How do I restore my tabs and tab groups after an update to version 36.0?

I work with many tabs when I use Firefox. I keep them ordered in Tab Groups, which helps separate the different kids of work I do and interests I have. I have been using this environment for years. When I started my work today, Firefox updated to v36.0, and the following behaviour was noticed:
    1. There is only one tab group when attempting to show Tab Groups in Panorama, as opposed to around a dozen;
    2. Normally though the hidden tabs (the tabs in the same group as the startup group and not the default page) don't download content until clicked, the name of the page and icon, if available, will show on the tab. Presently, the tabs show "New Tab" and no icon. There appears, however, to be the number of tabs that exist across all Tab Groups but now are ghosts this one, default Tab Group. I'd have to add, though, I don't count the number of tabs, so I can't be exactly sure. When clicked, there is just a blank page. So it is odd that Firefox knows they are there but cannot simply attach the address to it.
I have tried to restore the following files from my Windows Home Server backup to the AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<gobbletygook>.default folder:
    1. In the sessionstore-backups folder, I replaced the previous.js, recovery.bak and recovery.js files (not any of the upgrade~) with files from yesterday and from two days before.
When that didn't do anything, I replaced
    2. sessionCheckpoints.json
I didn't see any file with a recent date that appeared to be one that I should restore. I should add that I do see hidden files. I thought about restoring the whole lot, but wasn't sure how this would affect the program on v36.0 and the profile files on 35.0.1.
I have deadlines this week and need to immediately restore my environment in order to make those deadlines. I have no list of addresses to my Web pages to work in IE or other. Any help would be very much appreciated.
On a second note, I had been wondering recently whether this tab group environment is a suitable way to maintain my work environment. Occasionally, when opening Panorama, I would get an error saying a script is taking too long, but if I clicked Continue, it would display the groups in a few seconds. I had considered putting all of it in Bookmarks though it would be tedious and more difficult to access and open multiple tabs. In the beginning, I tried Tab Groups thinking it was a simple matter of maintaining a table of addresses (in tabs) with a tab group ID or name. How could that go wrong? Well, it has, so it is obviously more complicated than that, and I didn't realise that upgrades would affect personal data. Should I abondon using tab groups?

With the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
    # close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
    # check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
    # if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
    # check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
    # At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
    # When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
    # Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.
    Hope that helps.

  • How can I stop multiple tabs from opening along with Mozilla Firefox Start Page at launching time. How can this be stopped?

Whenever I launch Firefox, multiple tabs also start to open along with the Mozilla Firefox Start Page, which is very irritating. How can I stop this to happen each time I launch the browser?

See these articles for some suggestions:

    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page - Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' symbols
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Preferences_not_saved
It is also possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.<br />
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note).

  • TDMS File Creates Multiple Tabs of Data. Want to create only one.

    Hello NI Community,
I am currently using the DAQ Assistant with my string pots to record displacement over a long interval of time (see attached VI). I am then using the "Write To Measurement File" vi to save the data into a TDMS file (see the "Write to File Settings" picture attached for all settings chosen for file write). The file is being written, however when I open the TDMS file, the document creates a tab in Excel for every second of data recorded (please see the attached "). It looks like the TDMS file is grouping all the data from each second together and then creating a new group of data.
How do I get the file to write all the data onto a single tab instead of creating multiple? I do not want to have to concatenate hundreds of tabs into a single excel sheet.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • How to save Tab Groups in FF5?

The Tab Groups in FF5 seems to be a good feature. But there is no obvious way to save them. I am looking forward for it to replace the two instances currently I use to handle multiple groups.

    See:[http://support.mozilla.com/nl/questions/795591?s=save+tabgroups&as=s this thread]
It's not really a feature of tab groups. I wish tab groups was more like foxtab, with more permanent groups. A kind of visual bookmarks and history.
I guess you could make bookmark folders with all your tabs and turn those into a tab group each time you use it. Not ideal, but it will work.

  • I hate Tabs (and tab groups), give me independent windows!

    Raptor/SQLDev 10.1.3--1215
The little collapsing panes like Connections, Reports, Snippets work really well to maximize usable area, but constraining all the file windows to a single Raptor window is a pain in the neck.
I'm using Raptor on a two-screened Macintosh and I simply can't make use of all my screen if the edit windows all need to live in the main Raptor window.
This style of UI was created by Microsoft as "Multiple-Document Interface" in the early 1990's and frankly it never worked for me. I want to see windows side-by-side, I want to be able to overlap them partially when I need to without resizing them. And on my Mac, I have this cool Exposé feature letting me find independent windows really, really easily. Won't work with Raptor.
Please provide a way to have edit windows (or tab groups) outside the main Raptor frame.

I don't ever use it because I think it is odd to have tabs floating around my desktop but you can drag Snippets, Connections and Reports outside the SQL Developer Window - Detail tabs and the Worksheet can't be. Not sure if this works on a Mac or if this is what you were looking for but wanted to mention it.

  • After using Tab Groups earlier today, now anytime I close FF with more than 1 tab open, FF does NOT ask me to confirm before closing

After using Tab Groups earlier today, now anytime I close FF with more than 1 tab open, FF does NOT ask me to confirm before closing. FF always has asked me to confirm in the past and no settings were changed prior to trying the Tab Groups. Then when I reopen FF all the tabs that I had open are still there. I've tried refreshing FF and clearing history but that didn't work. It's almost as though FF thinks the window and tabs I have open are a tab group and it won't let me get rid of that group. How do I stop the Tab Groups now that I got them? Or is there something else going on? None of this was happening until I played with the Tab Groups this morning. I was curious what it was --- that's going to get me killed one of these days lol.

Thanks. Somehow the "Show my windows and tabs" box had gotten checked. I know I didn't check that box and the "Warn me when closing multiple tabs" box has always been checked. Like I said, it was all working fine until I tried the tab groups so I'm wondering if maybe that checks the "Show my windows and tabs" box by default?
Anyway, it's fixed now. Thanks so much!
