Multiple time entry profile in ESS

Hi ,
We are implementing ESS on ECC6.0 and EP7.0.
In R/3 side we have multiple time sheet entry profiles, how can we implement the time sheet entry scenario in portal which allows multiple entry profiles because as per my understanding ESS user in portal would only be having ESS profile assigned to them.
Please let me know if we can have multimple profile implemented in portal.

In the old versions of the ESS business package (ITS based), we had the flexibilty to use more than one Time Entry profiles.
AFAIK, you might not be able to use more than one Time Entry Profile with the new versions of ESS BP (Webdynpro based). The application picks up the "CVR" parameter of the user. (Default profile is SAP).

Hi All,
We have an issue here with the data entry profile.
The current system(ITS with 4.6c) has multiple data entry profile, from which the employee can select the profile according to the personel area, he is in. ( Employee can have multiple data entry profiles ) .
But in new frontend Portal, we dont have such option in EP 7 how can we achieve this in ESS- Webdynpro applications.
Need your valuable inputs on this.

Hi,
The newer version does not allow you to enter multiple ESS Profile. You will have to define one profile for the CVR parameter. If you think you the ESS User needs multiple profiles, its better to revisit those profiles and change them so that each user gets one profile that fits his time entry.
If you search in this forum, I think one earlier post had a good informative discussion about the same.

Multilple Data entry profiles in ESS for CATS

hi,
We are implementing CATS and configured the data entry profiles in IMG. Can u tell me if multiple data entry profiles can be chosen by employees through ESS webdynpro applcaition. I need this as the screen layouts for an employee logging time to different projects are different. Is choosing data entry profile provided in ESS ?

Thanks for the replies. i understand that based on the employee groups, sub groups a data enry profile would be assigned to an employee..
Lets take up this scenario
1) Employee 1 is assigned to Per Area 1 (HR) and lets say data entry profile 1 on monday
2) He is asked to work for a diffrent Per area 2 ( project systems ) for 1 day and then after that day he is assigned back to profile 1 again.
3) On wednesday he comes bak , he is already assigned to data entry profile 1, where he books his time for Per Area 1 (HR). Now how does he book his time for the one day where he was assigned to Per Area 2 ( PS)
any ideas ? I know this wud be a custom enhancement,
wanted to know
1) if BAPI and Web dynpro ESS record working time code will need to be modified ?
2) What wud be effort and time estinate for such a requirement ?
3) is it possible ?
Appreciate your inputs, i guess i am going on asking questions

SiteVisit/Information Request for Customizing Time Entry/Approval on ESS

Our organization is considering adding Time Entry & Time Approval to our Employee Self Service. The portal was just upgraded from EP6 to BW7.0 (our system is ECC 6.0). We currently use ESS for employee paystubs, benefits enrollment, membership campaigns, updating master data (address, bank information) and more.
We are looking for a Public Sector organization that has done Time Entry on ESS that would be interested in allowing us to do a site visit to gather information, ask questions and see your system. Please contact me if you are interested.
Also, even if you are not public sector, I am interested in any information about the ability to customize this functionality. We have the timesheet option up and running in ESS (in test) and I can enter time and it shows up in CAPS, but it needs to be customized to meet our needs. If you have done customization, I would love to see what your timesheets look like.
Most importantly we are looking for a site visit to gather information, but also any information about customizing the ESS timesheet would be greatly appreciated.

Any way to automate multiple Time Machine profiles?

I have 9 drives. 5 drives for data (1,2, 3, 4 & 5) and 4 drives to back them up (1/2B, 3B, 4B & 5B) using Time Machine. I have a lot of photos and video, drive 1 is a SSD boot, drive 2 is a SSD for work, the rest are hard disk drives.
I reset Time Machine manually for each profile every so often like so:
Profile Task
1 Backup Drives 1 and 2 to Drive 1/2B
2 Backup Drive 3 to Drive 3B
3 Backup Drive 4 to Drive 4B
4 Backup Drive 5 to Drive 5B
I wish I could set it up so time machine knows the profiles and does the backup tasks one after another in a continuous loop. That would be great!
If there is no practical way for me to do- then this post is my wish list for next operating system!

Hi, and welcome to the forums.
Short of something like an Applescript or Automator that would swap various versions of the preferences file (/Library/Preferences/com.apple.TimeMachine.plist), which would be a serious problem if done while a backup was in process, no.
A better solution might be to use Time Machine for your boot volume, and perhaps another (1 and 2 in your example, apparently).
Then use another app, such as CarbonCopyCloner, SuperDuper, or the like, for the other backups. CCC is donationware; SD has a free version, but you need the paid one (about $30) to do updates instead of full replacements, or scheduling. Either is easily found via Google.
And/or, see Kappy's post on Basic Backup, complete with links to the web sites of each product.

CAT2 for Time Entry (single and multiple)

Hello all,
We have been using CATW for time entry and CAT2 for multiple time entry and have security set up accordingly. We're thinking of moving to CAT2 for all time entry but need to make sure we can configure to allow single time entry for those reporting only their own time, and multiple time entry for those reporting their own as well as others. I think this may be doable between a combination of security and IMG/Data Entry profile work. Does anyone have any experience using CAT2 in this way?

First create a data entry profile/CVR through SPRO for a time sheet,
Then assign this profile to a user through user parameter CVR (Cats Variant for Recording) in the table USR05.
This CVR is used in CAT2 to access the time sheet corresponding to the profile assigned to the user.

ESS Record Working Time .. Restrict Time Entry with Relative limit

Hi SDN Users,
We are using ERP 2005 and EP 7.0 with webdynpro java ESS applications for Time, Travel and Personal Information.
In the ESS Record Working Time application, a user can scroll to any date he wants in the past or in the future and record/edit working times. The application does not take into consideration the setting made in the time entry profile for relative limit.
Please suggest the best way I can include this in the webdynpro application for Record Working Time. (in other words I would like to restrict the users to NOT be able to scroll before and later than 1 week from the current week).
Can this be achieved by modifying any ABAP program / BADI / User Exit (OR)
Would this require Webdynpro Code changes ?
Please suggest some changes if any one has gone through a similar requirement.

You can use the following way out for this :
Lets say you want to allow one week before Begda , rest entries not allowed .
1. VcCatRecordentry View - make a method called dateValid(); this would return true / flase
we can get begda and endda.
wdcontext.currentcontextelement.gettimesheetBegda();
wdcontext.currentcontextelement.gettimesheetendda();
Date sysDate = new Date(Calendar.getInstance().getTimeInMillis());
int sysDay = sysDate.getDay();
2. Instantiate the Calendar Calendar c1 = new GregorianCalendar();
3. c1.add(c1.DATE,-7);
Date dt_end = c1.getTime();
now compare the dt_end to begda if it return >0
then in on action navigation nxt - report exception
this would work , since I did the same and it worked absolutely well for me .

Hiding custom column in Weekly view of the Time Entry in ESS

We have added a custom field to time entry (CAT2). This field is displaying in both (weekly and daily) view of the time entry screen in ESS. Our requirement is too display the field only in daily view.
Is there a way to hide the custom column in the weekly view of the time sheet in ESS?

well it would require modification to the iview , it wont be a easy quickfix cause you lauch the iview it is built using CAC2 field customisation
you can explore Personalisation for the daily view hope it can work!

RoadMap does not return the selected step on ESS 600 Record Time entry

RoadMap does not return the selected step on Record Time entry application in ESS. Is it suppose to behave similar way or is it suppose to take user to the selected step. If yes , then is there a setting or customization that i have to take care of, as its a standard SAP delivered ESS Record working time application.

Time Evaluation with multiple time events

Dear Friends,
I have an issue in our current project. Kindly try to help me with a solution.
We are working on Time Management module with Positive Time Recording method and evaluation- India. (Payroll module is not implemented)
My issue is:
Evaluation with multiple time events in a day: In our project, we have a scenario like the employees record multiple clock in and clock out times for one day and are uploaded into infotype 2011. But during time evaluation, only first Time event that is P10 (Clock In) and the last Time event P20 (Clock-out) in a day should be considered for evaluation, ignoring any multiple time entries in between duration in the table TEVEN (Infotype 2011).
Pls let me know how this requirement can be met. Do we need to define any new PCRs or create any functions? If yes, pls tell me the process in detail as I am new and implementing Time management (Positive Time recording with Evaluation) for first time. Try to help me as soon as possible.

Problem with data entry profile ESS ?

My problem is i have a data entry profile "ESS".
In CAT2 transaction i see the ESS data entry profile as follows (suppose)
<b>A1 A2 A3 Mon Tue Wed .... Sat Sun A4</b>
I assigned CVR parameter to this profile
Now in ESS i see the data entry section as
<b>A1 A2 A3 A4 Mon Tue Wed ......Sat Sun</b>
The order of the fields is getting sorted.
Is it anything to do with the settings you referred earlier?

ESS Record working time error "Profile not initialised" TS31000007

Hi,
This is with reference to approvals of Times in ESS . I have copied the task TS31000004 to my custom task. I have made a custom rule to determine the superior in the Z task i have created.
Wehn i try to assign the Z task created to the Data entry profile in the "with approval" section( *** use sap business workflow *** ) , it gives me an error "Profile not initialised" . If i remove the check box for "Use SAP Business workflow" and do not enter any task there, the record working time screen is shown in ESS.
Any idea why it is giving the "Profile not initalised" when i assign the workflow in data entry profile.

Hi Haydn,
I have check the wokflow through CAT2 in SAP R3. When i save the CATS record, it send a workflow task to the superiror identified through by custom rule.
If i try it through front end ESS, the same is not working and is throwing "PROFILE_NOT_INITIALIZED" error.
I have down the following
1) Copy the standard task TS31000004 to ZTS31000004
2) Assigned it as general task, assigned the custom rule in Default rules for agen determination
3) Assigned the Task in Data entry profile, checked the box "Use SAP Business workflow" in data entry profile.
4) In Portal i have registered the UWL system, note i am not getting the ZTS31000004 in UWL xml file.
Do i need to ADD the new ZTS31000004 in SWFVISU and delete the standard TS31000004 provided and re-register system ?
also do i need to create the events in SWETYPV for this Tasks as they are not present there?

Can employee choose the profile in ESS Record Working Time

Time Sheet - Data Entry Profile(T-Code CAT2)

Hi All,
I have 4 data entry profiles in the system and will like to delete 2 of them as they are no longer required. If somebody had booked time (in past) by using the profile which I want to delete, will it have any kind of impact. Please advice whetehr it is safe to delete the profiles.

Not that I am aware of either - just checking a where used on the data element didn't reveal anything either.
Please bear in mind the following before deleting the profile however - What the profile is used for is to define whether data can be entered for just individual employees or groups of employees, what deata can be maintained, whether the timeframe is weekly or monthly and whether the data is subject to approval. All things tho consider when deleting any - to make sure the business needs can still be met and also there can be specific auths to certain time profiles to allow only certain employees to enter certain data etc.

Address book has same entries multiple times how can I go back to original cesium

After a couple of days, I'm noticing that the repeat(ing) offenders have more than 10 episodes, and seem to keep repeating them every time I sync.
They only show once in my phone and in the iTunes Podcasts, but through iTunes and looking at what's in my phone is when I see the repeats.
Even after I've marked a podcast as played, and deleted it from within my phone, as well as telling iTunes to delete the played episodes, it still shows multiples of the played episodes.
There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it either. They aren't the newest ones either.
