Multiple Tracks on one NWDI system

Is it possible to have multiple tracks for different applications in one NWDI system?  Say I have an xRPM environment (DEV, QAS, and PRD) and a BW environment (DEV, QAS, and PRD).  Is it possible to support a seperate track for each application in a single NWDI system?  I am currently investigation whether or not I would like to implement NWDI and this is a key question I have.  Thanks for your help!
Jon

Hi Jon,
I agree that some fundamental documenattion is missing. When looking at http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/45/68d64260752a78e10000000a155106/frameset.htm one could make it out but it isnt clear.
That's why we get paid  I guess - to make sense out of SAP documentation

how do i convert multiple tracks into one large mp3?

    Hi,
You can use an app such as Audacity or Join Together to create one larger file. If AAC file used instead of mp3, you could use GarageBand.
If you have the original CD, you can join the tracks whilst re importing disc.

  • Multiple landscapes in one NWDI?

We have 2 distinct landscapes - one for BI java development (with ABAPJ2EE dev/qa/prod) and another for ERP (again, an ABAPJ2EE dev/qa/prd landscape).
How could we use a single NWDI instance to manage both of those landscapes separately.  We would want to use the NWDI as the repository for java development in both the BI and ERP enviornments, but also would need to use it to deploy changes to different CONS/TEST/PROD systems.
I've seen the docs showing the ability to do multiple tracks, each with a different PROD system.  But what about having different CONS and TEST systems in those tracks, too?

    Hi
Yes it is possible................ with maintenance project you get normal, admin and urgent correction types
only with implementation projects you get normal & admin only and no urgent corrections
Secondly you have to create logical component for each system landscape and add all of them to your single project
    e.g
SAP ECC landscape LC1 Dev 100 QA 200 PRD 300
SAP BI landscape Lc2 dev 100 qa 200 prd 300
    etc
Note one logical component can store only one system landscape information not all systems
so add all of them in one project and activate charm.
now whenever the ticket is created ....developer can choose the system in which they want to create a TR ......and based upon LC it knows which is right Quality and prd.
Morver never forget .....Solman domain controller is master and it uses the same TMS setup which you for satellite system without charm.
    hope its clear now

  • Multiple tracks in one matrix window

can anyone tell me how to get midi data from multiple tracks to show up in a single matrix window for editing?

    wow. cool trick.
but it would be more helpful to me if i could select a few tracks... for example.. kick, snare, hihat, and bass. then open those 4 tracks in one matrix window. then the editing of those tracks would be very intuitive because of their relation to each other. is this possible?
ps.- why are so many things in logic "cool tricks?" I wonder if i can buy a secret book of Logics "cool tricks" at masonic temple or maybe from a wandering member of the knights templar.

  • How to join multiple tracks into one NOT from CD

I have mp3s which I added to my library. There's annoying pauses between then on my ipod. I want to make all 13 of these tracks into one track. Is there a way to do this? This is not from an audio cd that I can join track, this is in mp3 format already on my desktop.

Check out Doug Adams' Join Together.
Also, 3am Coffee's offering a bunch of scripts that will do the same thing, but unlike Doug's, these guys want $10.

  • Multiple Hard Drives: one for system & applications, one for backup

I am planning the upgrade of my hard drive setup. Presently, I have only the original 74.53 GB internal drive that came with my June 2004 G5 1.8 dual CPU. I have two goals for the upgrade. First, more hard drive space. Second, a drive for automatic backup. Since I am running OS 10.4.11 and not intending to upgrade to 10.5 at this time for application reasons, I will be using something like Carbon Copy Clone for the backup software (not Time Machine, which requires OS 10.5). My thinking, so far, is to install a 1 TB internal drive for system and another internal or external 1 TB drive for the backup. In perusing the discussions here, it looks like an external drive is always used for the backup. Is this true or would an internal drive work just as well for backup? I want the backup to be as free as possible from any corruption or problems that might arise on the system drive or other computer parts. Does the Firewire or USB connection of an external drive offer a greater amount of freedom from potential corruption as opposed to the direct SATA connection of an internal drive?
I realize that burnt DVD’s offer the greatest amount of freedom from corruption but one doesn’t burn a DVD hourly, daily, weekly or so on. Hopefully, if a problem arises my work underway is residing on the backup drive unaffected. I’m not sure how close in time this can be. I imagine this probably depends on the backup software used and how often the backup is run. I’m not yet fully aware of the options.
For the internal system drive is there any good reason to partition it? I f so, why, and in what way? Do the OS and applications need to reside on the same partition? If not (or better that they don’t), how should a 1 TB drive be partitioned?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions on the best configuration of my hard drive upgrade.

    1) The backup drive is best to be external (security from computer failure).
Yes. I am not sure about the "in some ways" my esteemed colleague qualifies.
    2) The external backup drive should be connected by Firewire (ability to be bootable & greater speed).
Yes. Just beware that some of the Western Digital models have presented problems. Not the drives themselves but the enclosures. [List of Western Digital bootable and non bootable models|http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=9022456#9022456]
Is a Firewire connected drive any less vulnerable to damage by computer hardware failure than an internal drive?
Yes & no. The yes: I don't know about G5s (they use a different connector from the G4s and earlier with which I am familiar) but in some computers the drives will share the same controller. If the controller goes then all connected drives can be corrupted. The no: Then too, I have had two Firewire drives be corrupted. One was by trying it with a PCI card (not what you're using) that was incompatible with my model computer. The other was when the power source in the enclosure went bad.
This is almost leading me to think that 3 drives would be the best! One internal for OS system & applications (1 TB), one continually connected for auto backup (my original 74 GB), and one (a bootable clone) attached only during occasional backups (2 TB).
The more the better. I usually buy drives in size increments that make sense for my configuration. I have two 120GB internal drives so I bought a 250GB external drive for backup and partitioned it into two so I could just back up one internal to one partition and the second to the other.
I'm perplexed with both your feelings about burnt media. I was not aware of this and fortunately have not experienced problems. However, it is only recently that I gravitated from 700MB CD's to 4.7 GB DVD-RW's for backups. I've been using Maxell
There's backup and there's archiving. Backup is for having a copy of what you're actively using. Archiving is storing stuff that is unlikely to change. Optical media is lousy for backup because files are constantly changing. Backing up a 120 GB onto 4GB media either requires a super organized person or you're spending a day sticking DVDs into your computer.
Optical media is less lousy for archiving, but still not great. Where's the floppy drive on your computer? Where will the DVD drive be in 15 years? It's also a lot faster archiving onto hard drives, and the cost of drives has come down to where the per GB cost is about equivalent of less than high-quality, archival-grade DVDs. Yes, drives change too, but it is also easy to copy from drive to drive. I have items archived on drives that are over 10 years old and as long as I make sure I keep on top of being able to connect those drives to a computer they are usable.
BTW: I tried to quote your messages for this reply, went to "Help" to learn how that is done and found this: "If you want to quote specific text from the original message, click Quote Original to add all the text from the original message to the Message box." I could see no such button "Quote Original". Can anyone please tell me where it is?
There's a '"' icon in the compose window when you type a reply. If I'm doing a lot of quotes (as I did here) I use that, then edit out the bits I don't want. Otherwise I copy and paste the text and add a > before the line to get it to appear in the special format.

  • Way to control audio key frames across multiple tracks in one fell swoop?

Hi everybody. Let's say I have 5 layers of audio, and I want to key frame levels and fades across all of them. Is there a way to sync the tracks such that, any changes I make to one will apply to all? Ala, the way one makes changes to both tracks in a stereo pair in one fell swoop.

Nest the sequence and make the moves on the resulting "mixed-down" audio. All audio should appear as a simple stereo pair in the nest. Adjust here.

  • How to move multiple tracks from one location to another on HD and keeping iTunes updated?

    Hi all
I'd like to move/re-arrange some subdirectories of my iTunes' main folder and I'd like to keep iTunes library updated without broken links without needing to re-imports the moved albums/tracks. Is there any method to do this? Even with the help of some utility or app?
    thanks in advance!
    luca

iTunes works this way.  You add a file. It makes a note of its location and metadata stored in the file and adds this to its own library database.
Note: All my answers are with reference to iTunes 7.5  (yes, 7.5). I've stopped trying to keep up with Apple's newer stuff which is why I rarely come here anymore.
    Answers to your specific questions.
1&2)  I think I have in the past copied a file with the identical name over an existing file and iTunes was fooled into thinking it was the original file.  However, it didn't update the metadata in its own database until I highlighted the file briefly in a playlist.  This causes the original file to be re-read.  The same thing happens if I use a third party metadata editor to change the metadata in a file.  iTunes will continue to display the old data until I briefly select the file in a playlist or it starts to play the file.
You can, by the way, add two files with the identical name (but in two different folders obviously) and iTunes will add them both as individual entries, even if the metadata is identical.
    3)  I don't have iTunes Match obviously (I can't even see the Store anymore with iTunes 7).  My third hand understanding is it won't do anything to your original files.  If it finds a match it will automatically download the match to your iTunes folder as if you had all the preferences settings set to use it normally.  I'm guessing you will then have two files for that track and you'll need to work on cleaning up the lesser quality one unless you want to just leave it.  Again, can't speak from experience.
I have both preferences options de-selected and don't want to select them to test my reply. I don't want iTunes to do either because I have media organized by kind and source over two internal hard drives and 3 partitions.  I 100% manage my media manually and have always done it that way.  I think option 2 has iTunes restructure your folders according to album and artist.  I deselected both because i didn't want to constantly be fighting iTunes in its attempt to organize things how it wanted.
If you're going to manage your media manually then you need to understand how iTunes works in detail and be willing to stay on top of it.  iTunes is designed to do everything on its own so people don't have to worry about things.  By unclicking its default preferences or moving files yourself in Finder or using a script to do so you are also figuratively clicking a button that says, "Okay, I know what I am doing and iTunes works."  Normally rule #1 with iTunes is never, never move a file to a different location in Finder and you'll see a lot of posts here from people who have "lost" items becaause they moved a folder or renamed it.  Maybe iTunes behaves differently when you deselect those preferences because I do this all the time and iTunes can track it as long as I don't move it to a different volume/drive.  I am very careful not to lose things or make duplicates, and of course I back up my computer before any major editing.

  • Multiple incremental cuts on multiple tracks in one click

    CS4
Is there a way, perhaps by setting marker points, or maybe just choosing a set time interval, to make a bunch-o-cuts on a track (or thru several stacked tracks) at set distances, in one fell swoop?
So if I have a few tracks layered and I want to make a slice every 5 minutes along the timeline through all of them.

Well, one could do something like Mark Beats on a Timeline, say by playing and tapping the * key on the numberpad, then going from Marker to Marker and hitting Ctrl+K, with the proper Tracks Targeted.
I do not know of any process that would add a Marker at specified increments. Maybe it's there, and I have just never needed to use it, and hence have not looked closely enough to find it.
    Good luck,

  • How to make CD track markers when exporting multiple tracks from one track

I have been remixing a soundtrack on one track. I have imported in many tracks and worked on them as one project and now I'd like to export them as seperate tracks by giving them track markers. • Converting multiple tracks into one

After recording a short "podcast" audio clip, I realized that every time I paused it and then picked up where I left off, it created a new track.
And then, when I saved the file and converted it into MP3 format, it saved each track as its own MP3 file...
This is frustrating because I want it to play seamlessly through a website as ONE mp3...
Can someone explain to me how I can convert 5 "Tracks" in garageband to just ONE track? Thank you!!

Sorry for skipping details.. I saved the file in GarageBand, and then converted it using iTunes... iTunes saved it as 5 separate tracks.
I want the one garageband file that has all the "tracks" converted into ONE track so that iTunes recognizes it as one file, not several.

at this stage, i'm not aware of a technique for Windows PCs other than the burn-to-audio-CD-then-reimport-joined technique (with all the subsequent hassles about having to manually re-enter track info).

  • How to turn multiple tracks into one element for changing scale

I've created an image out of a number of video tracks in my motion timeline. When I try to change the scale of all the parts, they change but remain the same distance apart so the pieces break apart in my viewer. I've tried making a clone and this solved this aspect of the problem but now my write on behavior that draws the image on does not occur. Is there a way to get around these two issues and create a scalable image that can perform write on behaviors? Thanks in advance and happy new year!
    This is Motion 4

Ah, nevermind! I think I may have solved the issue myself. It seems if you click on the Group tab to the left of the main timeline as opposed to the clip within the timeline, it allows you to change the group and scale it while also keeping different elements together. Could be helpful for anyone with a similar question.

  • Making multiple tracks from one big track

I've got a CD that has 7 songs on it, but only shows as 1 long track (54:06) when I try to import it. I'd like to edit it so it imports/plays as 7 songs and not 1. I've figured out how to mark/edit the first song, but that's all. How can I reimport the original song so that I can do the other 6 tracks? I've looked at a lot similiar postings, but there were no answers. Apparently this is a problem a lot of people are having. Any suggestions would help. Thanks.

As i mentioned earlier, by selecting to convert the original song it is just making a copy of the song, and you do not have to have the CD to do so. Just select the song you want to duplicate and then select convert to...(whatever file format you want).
    Hope this helps
