Multiple TVs

Will one AppleTV work with multiple televisions in a household? For example, could someone in another room watch a different movie than what I am watching using the same AppleTV? Or will I need to purchase an additional AppleTV for my other TV set?

You will need to purchase an Apple tv for each tv set.
You will however be able to watch different content on each, even if that content is streamed from the same iTunes library.

  • Apple tv on multiple tvs at the same time

I just purchased an iPad 2.  I am interested in adding apple TV to my home.  My questions are:  If I had a apple tv for each of my TVs, would it possible to play videos on multiple TVs in my house simultaneously?  Also,  Would there be a way to use a second iPad on the same apple TV signal? Any information would be great.

If the content was in iTunes and compatible you could have a computer running itunes and each AppleTv would be able to play iTunes content.
If stuff was bought from iTunes store and available in the cloud in your country you wouldn't need a computer on and could stream iTunes Store purchases from the internet provided your connection was adequate.

  • Apple TV Connected to Multiple TVs?

Is it possible to connect an Apple TV box to multiple TVs to play the exact same content (e.g., music videos) on those same TVs? If so, how? Thx.

So do the HDMI splitters like the one at the link below not work? I would actually have all three TVs that I want to broadcast to fairly close to one another ...

  • Can I broadcast from my ipad to multiple tvs?

I would like to broadcast from my ipad to multiple tvs in the same room.  The goal is to present to a small group but have the same slides show on all the tvs at the same time so everyone can see easily.  I saw where you could buy multiple apple tvs, but it looked like this was so you broadcast different things to different tvs.  I would like to broadcast the same thing to all the tvs at once.  Any one have an easy solution?  Thanks!

Absolutely!  You can use the iPrint app to print - get it and learn about it here

  • Pac vs Mayweather PPV - Multiple TVs

    All,
I ordered the fight online to watch on Saturday, however I would like to watch the fight simultaneously on 2 different tvs in my house.  Basically I am having people over and will need it on in more than one location.  Im pretty sure I have to purchase the fight twice for this to work.  I don't believe you can buy it once and watch on multiple tvs at the same time, which if this is the case that is fine.  The question I have is do I have to do anything special for this to work, or do I just bring both TVs up and order the fight a second time from the second tv?  How does it work when you purchase the fight through the fios website vs a specific box?  Do I order it again from the first tv and it just doesn't charge me because I have already ordered it?
    Thanks

There was a thread on another forum.
If you call in, you may be able to get it on multiple STBs for 1 price.
I only say may as I have never done it myself.

  • Multiple TVs/Boxes in one room

I currently have Directv, but am moving to an apartment building where I will be switching to Fios TV. I have three TVs set up in my living room, all connected to different boxes for the purpose of watching multiple sporting events at once. On Directv, it is possible to set up the remotes so that I can change the channel on one box without changing the channel on the other boxes. Is this possible on Verizon Fios TV as well?
    Solved!

Both the above solutions require a smartphone and app.
The answer regarding the rbox emotes themselves is no, they all send the same codes.

  • Multiple TVs from Mac Pro

I am a video artist and am currently working on a project with multiple displays. I am hoping to use my Mac Pro as the video player to run 6 simultaneous displays.
    I have a Dual-Core 2.66GHz MacPro (1st Gen) with the NVIDIA GeForce 7300.
I am thinking about purchasing 2 more 7300s so that I can run the 6 displays needed for the project. Since the quality of the video is SD, my original idea was to use older CRT televisions for displays, and use apples DVI to Video adapter for the TVs. However, the adapter is not compatible with this graphics card.
My new plan is to purchase the 7300s and use DVI to HDMI cables to hook them up to small HDTVs.

Does this plan make sense? Are there other options for multiple displays I'm not considering?
    Thanks for the help

    you could add a four port PCIe USB card and then add 4 of these;

  • Connecting to multiple TVs possible?

Is it possible to connect a single mini to multiple televisions (3-5)? I will want the same signal to play on all of the displays simultaneously. Is this something that is simply done with a high-end splitter?
Also, these would be widescreen 16x9 sets and not standard 4:3 sets. Will that make a difference?
I currently have a G4 mini, but will purchase a new one if I think a solution exists. Any information that some one could provide is appreciated. I've searched the forums, but only find info on dual displays.
    Thanks.

Since you don't have specific TVs in mind at this point, I agree with your assessment that component inputs will be most universal and the right way to go. Almost any wide format TV will have component inputs. Furthermore, since you want all the TVs displaying the same image, you should probably focus on 720p as the desired output from the Mac mini since it should be universally accepted by wide TVs and is a more computer friendly output vs. interlaced (1080i).
You may need to attach two boxes to a Mac mini in order to accomplish this. The first box would be a VGA to component video translation box. The second box would be a component video distribution box with one input and however many outputs you desire.
One company that comes to mind is Key Digital. Here are links to the products you might require. Consider calling them and explain your application. They might be able to solve it with one box.

    http://www.keydigital.com/ProductDetail.aspx?categorycode=400&itemno=KDCDA6&prod uctname=Video/Audio%20Distribution%20Amplifiers
Another thing to be aware of is EDID. EDID is driver information located in a computer monitor's firmware. The information is passed to the host (computer) through a data channel embedded in the video cable (VGA cables and DVI/HDMI cables, but not component cables). It's what enables Macs to plug-and-play with so many different displays. But EDID is not so common among TVs. This is a long way of saying that you may end up having to use third party software, like SwitchRes X, to configure the mini to output 720p since 720p will probably not show up as one of the choices within Display Preferences on the mini when it is cabled through all these boxes.

  • Accessing AppTV on multiple TVs in different rooms

If you have two TVs in two different rooms, do you need 2 AppleTV units to access ATV from 2 TVs?  I have 2 HDTVs (living room and bedroom), an iMac in the study, and an Airport Express with an in-house wi-fi network.  I also have a PS3 that I use for streaming, but find that it is slow and cumbersome.  Thanks.

No, wait.  maybe Ishould just carry one tv back and forth between the living room and the bedroom.
Thanks for the comments (even tyler's).

  • I have a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter, then I purchased 3 VGA adapters: a VGA to HDMI, VGA to Component, and VGA to RCA. When I hook them up to my TV (I've tried multiple TVs) they do not detect a display, even when I click Detect Displays.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a solution for this?  The only other Mini DP I found was a HDMI connection.  I want to make sure I can connect to not only TV's via HDMI, Component or RCA, but also projectors (some of which may be older requiring a Component or RCA connection).
    I'm using this Mini DisplayPort:

These are the VGA Adapters I'm using:

    VGA to Component:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000P3Q0YW
    VGA to RCA:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Y7T5UU
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

None of the three lower adapters pictured in your post will do you any good with your MBP.
    1. The VGA-HDMI adapter does the reverse of what you want: it yields VGA output from HDMI input. The opposite is not possible; a VGA input does not contain all the information necessary to create an HDMI output. You'll have to get a direct mini-Displayport-to-HDMI adapter instead.
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
    2. VGA-Component: Lots of posters here when the MDP-equipped MBs and MBPs first came out tried adapters like this one with no success. What does work with the MDP (and a VGA adapter) is a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/Startech-Component-YPbPr-Video-Converter/dp/B000G6Y0S6
    3. VGA-Composite: This doesn't work with MBPs either. For Composite or S-Video output, you need a converter box like this:
    http://www.amazon.com/PC-To-TV-Video-Converter/dp/B001CJOLBW/ref=pd_cp_e_2
    or this:
    http://www.startech.com/AV/Converters/Video/High-Resolution-PC-VGA-to-TV-Convert er-with-Remote-Control~VGA2NTSCPRO
These converter boxes will work fine in combination with your Apple MDP-VGA adapter.

  • Apple TV on multiple TVs

Is it possible to have 2 apple TV devices running simultaneously off the same account? Example: If I want to watch my show on one TV and let the kids watch one of theirs on another TV; Can the 2 devices pull from my account at the same time?

Yes, assuming your network can cope. We regularly have several Apple TV's running at the same time.

  • Can I have multiple TVs with apple TV?

I'm sorry to ask this mundane question but I was looking at getting an Apple TV but I am wondering if I can use it on mare than one tv?

You can use one AppleTV for each TV, which is the easiest solution.
If you dont mind unplugging and plugging and carrying it around you can move your single AppleTV from TV to TV.

  • Multiple TVs in home

What is Apple expecting people with more than one TV in their home to do? Buy an Apple TV for each TV?
    Seems excessive.
Not that you should have more than one TV, or one in the bedroom.

Is there a tech support question here somewhere? If you're asking if on ATV can be hooked up to more than one television, I believe the answer is "no". Just like you have to buy a DVD player for each television, you'd need to buy an ATV for each as far as I can determine.

I don't understand that last sentence at all. Sorry.

  • On-Demand Purchases - How to block MULTIPLE TVs

Do we really need to set a PIN for every settop-box to prevent unauthorized On-Demand purchases?  We have a very large household with 9 boxes in throughout the home.  I REALLY don't want to have to repeat this SAME step for all 9 rooms. Does Comcast really not have a way to set a general Purchase PIN for an entire household account?  If they do, where do I find this?  If not, why not?   Any information that doesn't have to do with upgrading or spending more money on my account seems to be mysteriously absent from the Xfinity website.  I should not have to consult a forum to find this information.

Yes. Each cable box would need / can have a unique and separate PIN code or Parental Control Code - or you can make them all the same. This is done at the box level for each cable box.
From the Main Menu (press Menu twice on your silver Comcast remote control). Select Parental Control.

  • Multiple video tracks in multiple tvs

    hi---
i don't know if this is exactly the right forum to post this question, but i thought i'd start here. i am preparing a live dance/theater piece, for which i would like to use four different televisions running four different video tracks (but all using the same soundtrack). at the moment the only solution i know of would be to use four dvds playing in four dvd players (all of the same brand) which would (hopefully) all start with the same remote control. however this doesn't seem like the safest plan, since the timing will be fairly important. could anyone advise me of some simpler way by which i could start all the video tracks at the same time? thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi
We do this all the time for stage and museums, We use a DVD Synchronizer with Pioneer 7400 players and with the black burst option they are frame accurate. We have done as many as 12 DVD players ourselves for a project that was at Miami international airport for three months without a problem.
