Multiple UME possible?

Dear all.
We have Netweaver 7 with installed Netweaver Portal.
The UME is configured to use LDAP read only.
We would need a second UME.
So here my questions on which I did not found answers in SAPs help:
1) Is it possible to have a second UME on one Java instance? ... I assume not.
2) Is it possible to configure different data sources per server?
3) Is it possible to have a second UME when installing a second Java instance?

Are Multiple (Concurrent) ABAP Data Sources for AS Java UME Possible?

We have a solution which is using a JAAS logon module for partner authentication. for reason's I won't go into we have decided that it is best to use an ABAP data source. We will also be using the same JAAS approach for other ABAP applications in the future. Ideally we would configure the same JAAS server to use ABAP UME data sources from ABAP server 1 and ABAP server 2.
I see there are provisions in the documentation for multiple UME data sources of different types but it doesn't clearly say about different concurrent data sources. IS this even possible? If so is it wise?

Thanks again for your reply. This is confusing. We have an existing .Net logon application where we centrally administer accounts and where users log in. On successful login they are issued a .net Auth cookie. Our JAAS module takes that cookie, does a web service call back to .Net and authenticates them. So authentication is done on the basis of the .Net cookie, not the java UME. We simply need a java ume to allow users to execute the application that invokes the JAAS module. The application invokes the JAAS module and if they successfully authenticate they are forwarded to the requesting SAP application. So the JAAS ume is really just needed to allow various users to run the JAAS invoking application starter. Ideally we'd use the same starter application for users of SAP Application 1,2,3, etc.
So that's where the question came from on multiple ABAP UME data sources for a single Java instance.
Hope that makes sense. Regardless the answer I guess is not possible but you see the method to our madness. And yes it is madness.

Tooltips with multiple lines possible?

I know two possible ways:
1) The HTML-way like in

2) Subclass BasicToolTipUI and adjust the its paint() method. Then create a new JToolTip and set your new UI. Next override createToolTip() on those JComponents which should get the new tooltip.

SAP CRM multiple clients possible

Hi,
We have a NetWeaver SAP CRM system (ABAP + JAVA) stack.
We run an internet webshop application on the JAVA stack connected to CRM ABAP stack, client 010. The CRM ABAP stack connects to SAP ERP.
Q1: Is it possible to add a new client 020 in the ABAP stack of the CRM system?
Q2: I don't understand in CRM the connection between the JAVA and ABAP stack. If I add a new ABAP client 020, do I need to copy the JAVA stack/client also?
Who can help me guiding in which direction I have to go?
Note: We want to connect a non-SAP system to client 020.
Overview:
ERP ABAP (client 010) --> CRM ABAP (client 010) --> CRM JAVA stack
non-SAP (legacy system) --> CRM ABAP (client 020) --> CRM JAVA stack

I-cal multiple user possibility?

I'm trying to make I-cal able to edit and manipulate from multiple computers. For example, My OS at home is mac; I made i-cal and sent it to my .mac account. When at work my OS is PC. I can view my calendar but, I can't make changes to it. My wife has a PC operating system too at work. I want to be able to view my cal at work and make corrections when possible. And have my wife add to my cal when necessary. Can someone help me?

It certainly works OK with multiple mac computers. We sync the same ical data (with 15 different internal calenders) between two macs in the office and one at home - all synced via .mac.
If I publish any one calender it can be viewed on a windows machine but that is as far as I can get.
I would love to be able to use ical or similar on the PC office accounts machine but like you I can't yet.
Does anyone know if entourage will sync completely with ical via .mac?

Multiple writes possible in DS in labview but not in CVI?

Am using Datasocket to communicate between to VI's, In one of the VI's am opening a new dataitem in "readwrite" mode and doing both read and write operation, and in the other VI am just writing on the dataitem by supplying the URL to the write function, surprisingly this is possible even though i havent created the dataitem from DS manager and have not selected the option of "allow multiple writes".
But if am creating a CVI application, which opens the dataitem in "readwrite" mode, and if i write on that dataitem from labview, it gives me an error, i even tried selecting the "allow multiple write" on this dataitem.
Please suggest some solution. Also if i open a lot of Dataitems will it cause any problems?, i guess our project needs atleast 100 dataitems if i will have to use command and response in different dataitems.

The second solution is what you have already described with checking the box to Allow Multiple Writers. I am not sure why that is not working in your case, but I would suggest trying the first soltuion suggested in the KB. It involves creating the datasocket item a certain way in LabVIEW, and more details are available in the KB.

Single customisation page for multiple portlets - possible ?

Is it possible to create a single page to customise multiple portlets ?
Example : select star sign for Horoscope, city for weather, etc on the same page.
The preference store APIs allow us to set values, but always assuming that we are in a portlets 'edit' mode - we cannot provide the portlet instance ID ourselves.
Any ideas ?

You could save your customization information into a custom DB table, rather than using the preference store (which can only be accessed by a particular portlet instance).

Travel Mgt: Multiple trips possible in 4.7?

I am working on ECC 5.0 and I can create more than one trip on the same day. We want to implement also TE for another client who is still on 4.7? It seems that on 4.7 it is not possible to create multiple trips on the same day. Am I missing something or is this correct? If we need ECC 5.0 should it be enough to install only the related Notes?

I know in 4.6C using a feature (TRVPA) and entry (WRC) you control whether multiple trips are allowed for the same day. If you allow multiple trips for the same day the only thing you have to look out for is the time. They need to be at least a second or so apart.
I'm not sure if things are still controlled by features in the newer versions.

Can anybody who has realised such a set up provide some more details how to proceed?
The link from David describes the other way around, several VLANs mapped to one SSID. By the way, we where able to implement this, but it is only supported in centralized mode, local mode (Flex Connect it doesn't work).
For any advise how to proceed for "One VLAN mapped to multiple SSIDs" would be very appreciated.

Multiple subnets possible?

All,
I'm using my access point as a dhcp server in a test environment. Is it possible to have multiple subnets configured like a router-on-a-stick configuration?

The AP can only support one DHCP scope, and only on the Native VLAN (i.e., untagged).
There's only so much processor. Dumping a bunch of services on the AP is generally a bad idea. Ultimately it'll affect your performance & user counts.

Ical multiple categories possible?

Recently I bought an Iphone4s, joined the iCloud, synchronised and lost all my calender entries in Outlook 2011 for the Mac. Bit of a problem because I like the easy way Outlook works. Working in Ical now and I'm getting the hang of it. Working in Icloud, Ical and Outlook 2011 at the same time is not possible. Only 1 bother left.
When making or exepting an appointment in Outlook I could give it multiple categories. I work in a small company and for my colleques I use different categories. If I want to see where he/she is I just open that categorie. Sometimes though we work in teams of 2 or 3 people. Problem is if I can only submit 1 category then it does not show in the other categories/calenders.
Q: does anybody no a trick or a way to give 1 calender entry multiple categories? Or even better: has anyone found a way to make Oulook 2011 for the Mac, Ical and Icloud work together?

That is the limitation with it, only able to choose one calendar for association.

Dragging multiple projects - possible?

I just imported my iPhoto library to Aperture 1.1 and I want to drag bunches of the projects created from iPhoto film rolls into a new folder structure (based on years and months).
Is it possible to select multiple projects and drag them to a new location? It doesn't appear so, but I'm wondering if I've missed a keystroke trick. I'd rather not drag them one-by-one.

You can do this with the make multi-camera source sequence command in Premiere Pro CS6 (note that this was posted before CS6 was launched):
Mark the clips
Select the clips
Choose Clip > Create Multi-Camera Source Sequence
Choose the style of synchronization and click OK
Right click on Multi-Camera source sequence and choose > Open in Timeline.
Clips are now stacked up inside of a sequence

Use custom JAAS LoginModule without UME - possible?

Hi all,
I want to deploy an application that internally makes use of JAAS to authenticate users. There is a LoginModule that authenticates users against some database tables containing all the user data and profile. The application was not designed to be deployed to NetWeaver. So it does not make use of UME or some other NetWeaver specific feature. Actually it handles user management and authoroization issues completely on its own. The only reason for having JAAS is to allow customers to plug in their own LoginModule to use some other kind of user store.
When deploying the web application to a simple servlet engine like Tomcat, all I have to do is to register my LoginModule in the "jaas.conf" file that is parsed by JAAS default implementation. I also tell the JVM where my jaas.conf file is located by appending a "-Djava..." runtime parameter to the JVM startup script.
When using other application servers like IBM WebSphere things become a bit different. Normally you use the administration GUI of that server to configure your LoginModules. WebSphere for example keeps the login configuration in an internal database rather than writing everything into a "jaas.conf" text file. But the way the application can use the LoginModule is the same as in Tomcat.
But when it comes to Netweaver, it seems to me that it's not possible to define a LoginModule that your application can use WITHOUT having to couple it tightly to UME. Or did I get something wrong? Initially I've tried to modify the JVM's parameters (using SAP J2EE Config Tool) to include the location of my "jaas.conf" file containing the my login configuration. But that did not work. The parameter was really passed to the JVM but anyway my LoginModule was not found, I guess that NetWeaver has some own implementation of the JAAS interfaces that just ignore the plain text JAAS configuration files (like WebSphere also does).
The documentation that I have downloaded from SDN doesn't seem to match the 6.4 sneak preview version that I just downloaded some days ago. They say you should deploy your LoginModule as a library and add a refernce to the application. I tried that out but it did not help. The login configuration that the application wants to access is still not found. Actually there seems to be no way to specify the name for a JAAS Login Configuration in NetWeaver. At least I cound not find that in the documentation.
So basically my question is: is it possible to deploy an application that wants to use some own LoginModule (either deployed separately or together with the application, that does not matter) without making use of Netweaver specific features like UME? The application has its own user management infrastructure and just needs a way to setup a JAAS Login Configuration to access its own LoginModule.

Connecting to multiple TVs possible?

Is it possible to connect a single mini to multiple televisions (3-5)? I will want the same signal to play on all of the displays simultaneously. Is this something that is simply done with a high-end splitter?
Also, these would be widescreen 16x9 sets and not standard 4:3 sets. Will that make a difference?
I currently have a G4 mini, but will purchase a new one if I think a solution exists. Any information that some one could provide is appreciated. I've searched the forums, but only find info on dual displays.

Since you don't have specific TVs in mind at this point, I agree with your assessment that component inputs will be most universal and the right way to go. Almost any wide format TV will have component inputs. Furthermore, since you want all the TVs displaying the same image, you should probably focus on 720p as the desired output from the Mac mini since it should be universally accepted by wide TVs and is a more computer friendly output vs. interlaced (1080i).
You may need to attach two boxes to a Mac mini in order to accomplish this. The first box would be a VGA to component video translation box. The second box would be a component video distribution box with one input and however many outputs you desire.
One company that comes to mind is Key Digital. Here are links to the products you might require. Consider calling them and explain your application. They might be able to solve it with one box.

Another thing to be aware of is EDID. EDID is driver information located in a computer monitor's firmware. The information is passed to the host (computer) through a data channel embedded in the video cable (VGA cables and DVI/HDMI cables, but not component cables). It's what enables Macs to plug-and-play with so many different displays. But EDID is not so common among TVs. This is a long way of saying that you may end up having to use third party software, like SwitchRes X, to configure the mini to output 720p since 720p will probably not show up as one of the choices within Display Preferences on the mini when it is cabled through all these boxes.

Multiple "libraries" possible?

Pardon me if this is a dumb question...but..
My GF has an Ipod Nano, and a library with her songs in it. Now I want to get a Nano as well, and keep my own list or library of songs, completely separate from hers, that I can transfer onto my iPod Nano, using the same account. Is this possible with iTunes? How would I do this, if so, step by step?
