Multiple users, same login/account?

Hi,
Is it possible for multiple users in a department to use the same Contribute account login to edit their webpages, or will this cause problems with lockfiles or versioning or anything else?
Thanks in advance.
Scotch

Hi Scotch,
It is possible for multiple users to use the same connection key/login credentials in multiple machines to edit their webpages using Contribute.
If some page is placed in edit mode, Contribute will show an info bar for the same
If you are an admin it will show the info bar saying
Please revert back for any more clarifications.

Can you have multiple users for one account? if so how do you set it up.
We are using it for our department and it would be great to see who created what form instead of it being all one name.

Each person should have their own account. You can easily share the forms with other people in your department. You will be able to see who the author of the form is.

  • Multiple users same account different roles

    Hi,
How could I do this in thunderbird?
There is only one email account. Under the only one email account, there is a manager who have all the privileges. There are some users accounts who can only read and reply emails. Users accounts can't delete any messages.
    Thanks,

  • Multiple users using One account and issue making calls to 1-800-###...

We have 15 volunteers who are using One account we set up for them. They login at the same time and need to make 1-800 calls (same number) concurrently. Right now, when you start pressing 800 all of sudden the display goes blank (cx300) and can't even finish
entering the number. We have Lync 2010 and 2013 running together and most services moved to Lync 2013. Before we introduced Lync 2013 we did have this problem, but only intermittently. Now with Lync2013 it is consistent issue.
    What settings do I change?
Do I need to create more accounts and assign Lync #s respectively?

    Hi,
Would you please tell us what did you do with this scenario?
Please check if there is any error message from Mediation Server and FE Server when the issue happen.
Check if it is a performance issue, you can test to login the same Lync account with two users, make call concurrently. If it works work, it may be a performance issue.
The best way is to create more account and assign to these users.

  • HT1203 Multiple users on one account

I have one account, and I want to be able to have multiple users with access to the library, but I don't want everything to sync. How can I do this?

Plug in a device, select it in iTunes, click the tabs acoss top and select what you want to sync.
    Do this for each device.

  • Multiple users same pictures

How can I set up iPhoto so multiple users from my iMac can access the same pictures/data/images?
I think right now, everybody will have their own set of images. I want all of the users to use the same set of images.

You question is not clear - does this help?  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1198
If so the first solution on an external drive works best
But note that iPhoto is not a multi-user system

  • Multiple users, 1 iTunes account, multiple devices, iCloud, help!

My wife and I share 1 itunes account.  She uses a PC, I use a macbook.  We each have an iPhone4, iPads and iPods.  I am in the process of setting up the iCloud and am having some issues.
First, my Apple ID is not in the form of an email address, so iCloud doesn't recognize it.  I have a mobile me account that I have migrated over and my wife uses AOL for email.  I cannot set up iCloud on her ipad or iphone because the apple ID is invalid.
Secondly, if I change my Apple ID to an email address, it won't let me use my mobile me email, so I would have to create a new one.  If I do update with a new email address, what happens when I activate the iCloud on our devices?  Will all 4 devices then become the same when synched?  How do we keep them individual when synched with the same iCloud account?
    Thanks

Here's my situation, and what I have discovered:
My family shares one Apple ID for our iTunes purchases. We have two iPhones, two iPads and an iPod touch all running iOS 5 between us. The 'master' Apple ID, that we all use for iTunes, is my e-mail address. I created a separate Apple ID (their own e-mail addresses) for each individual in the family, which is used to connect to the iCloud for the purposes of syncing and backing up to the iCloud.
The only odd configuration I have found is that each device that I set up with a different Apple ID for the iCloud, also retains an iCloud mail account with the 'master' Apple ID. The e-mail address (the 'master' Apple ID) for this iCloud mail account (called 'iCloud') cannot be changed, although the account can be deleted (which I don't want to try because I don't know the consequences). The only thing I have enabled in this iCloud account is 'Find My iPhone/iPod' so all my family's devices can be seen in the Find My iPhone app using my 'master' Apple ID.
Using this setup we have been able to maintain our own Contacts and Calendars, all synced to iCloud using our individual Apple IDs.

  • HT1420 Can multiple users have Itunes accounts on the same computer?

New to the Mac. Can my wife and I have separate iTunes directories on the same computer accessed based on our login?

Yes. This happens automatically with different user accounts on the computer, and can be manually set up for a single account by launching iTunes with the Option key held down.

  • Multiple users for Mail account

I'm a new Mac convert but I am having problems with getting mail set-up. I think this is really because I need the mail software from OS X Server (but I'm not keen on purchasing the whole of OS X Server just for that).
The problem is that mail for several users is delivered to one mailbox at our ISP (and we don't want to change this). Downloading from this downloads everything. On windoze we used to share a single pst file with a lot of rules to put mail in several sub-folders. It wasn't ideal and it wasn't private. I would prefer to have the mail going to separate private mailboxes. I've downloaded the cyrus software used in OS X Server from the Carnegie Mellon website but it seems over-kill for what I want to do and since I'm not an expert on IMAP or POP protocols I'm concerned that it may take me a long time to get it set up.
Does anyone have any advice for me? Is there a simpler solution? Can I get just the mail software for OS X Server from anywhere?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
    MacBook Pro 15"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

If you already have your webserver internally on that static ip, then you could technically run your own email server on the same machine.
I don't actually see why I have to have a webserver to allow me to run an email server (but let's not get into another discussion). I do run web services and I do have a static ip.
What I have is all mail for my domain arriving at one mailbox on the isp. This is forwarded from the company that I get my domain hosting from. So mail for me@mydomain and mail for other@mydomain is all in the same mailbox. Any download from that mailbox downloads everything. The isp is the only isp in the north of Scotland and I'm glad to have them, but they are small and they don't provide lots of fancy options.
The problem with using separate folders under one user name comes when you reply to the message - it then doesn't come from the correct name. I also don't really want other people using my login. If there is any way round that please let me know.
The problem really comes from my not understanding how much less comes with OS X compared to OS X server. I'm used to unixes coming with most of what you want and I didn't realise that apple were following the microsoft model. I was intending to get familiar with OS X before buying a server. Now it looks as though I'll have to go and buy it anyway. Does anyone know if it is possible/easy to install parts of OS X server?
Thanks for the advice so far.

  • Multiple Users Simultaneous Login

Does anyone have a way of simultaneously logging in multiple computers with different usernames and possibly passwords. I have found Unix commands for doing this with a single user account, but not multiple. All machines would be running X.4.9 with ARD 3.1
    Thanks,
    Chuck

Sorry, but I'm not clear on what it is you're asking regarding "multiple computers with different usernames". Could you please explain further what it is you're trying to accomplish?
If what you mean is that you want to have some computers logged in with User A and other computers logged in with User B, then you have to do this with separate UNIX commands. But if you want to be able to do this with a single operation, you could set up an Automator workflow so that it executes the separate commands from a single script. If that's not what you mean, please post back and clarify.
    Regards.

  • Multiple users/same library

    hi!
i'm new to the mac world and i'm just wondering about different accounts on my imac and sharing the same iphoto library.
By default, do pictures that are imported end up as separate iphoto library files or can i get them to go to one "common" library.
    Thanks, T

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
By default each user account has it's own library, but there are ways to share...
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • ICloud with multiple users on on account

My daughter and I share an iTunes account. We recently updated all our devices and activated iCloud. Now her iTouch is getting my phone's text messages. I've tried deleting the contacts off her iTouch and changing the mail settings. Nothing seems to work! Any ideas?

I share this frustration. Over last weekend I needed to leave my computer at home while we went across the country to visit family. I found out there I needed to access my computer and finish an item before I was to return. We brought my wife's MBAir with us just in case, and good thing too. Either way, I was required to sign out of iCloud for her, then sign in as myself. This deleted all her iCloud contacts, calendar, mail, etc. Then it had to reload mine, then when finished i had to do that process all over again for her account. It would seem a quite simple task to allow multiple iCloud accounts to view a set of computers set to any of the iCloud Apple ID's. There is a function similar to this on my TimeCapsule. I can put both of our AppleID accounts onto that device and both of us can see our TimeCapsule and all attached storage while away from home (brilliant by the way), great for accessing movies I have stored on the TimeCapsule. Any results on how to make this work? Thanks

  • I have multiple users on one account and now want to split the account.  How do you split and account?

My family and I have used the same account for many years.  We are now looking to create individual accounts and separating the music and other items appropriately.  How do you split an account?

It's not currently possible to split an account, all content will remain tied to the account that originally bought/downloaded it. You can try leaving feedback for Apple, and maybe at some point it will be possible : http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • Multiple users on one account?

where exactly do i add them to account? do i add the email address to the account or is it something more specific? i added the email addresses to my apple id, but it did not ask for a password. i have 2 daughters and want them to be able to use facetime seperately.  sorry, i'm a little clueless to the apple scene!

To use FT on one iPod with different persons email calling address you  wilk have to go to Settings>FaceTime and add the email calling address for the one person and delete it for the other person.  You will have to repeat the process when the other person wnat to use FT.  The iPod is really for one user.

  • Can multiple users access the account and use services on different computers?

    ?

    Hi vighter,
A subscription is tied to an invididual Adobe ID and password. The licensing agreement allows that user to access the subscription on up to two devices, but not at the same time.
