Multiple Users syncing data on Numbers spreadsheet

What's the best way for multiple users to share a numbers spreadsheet and upkeep of data?
Thanks! I know- I'm pretty new at this.

All I know is in the following thread, I have no personal experience with it:

I hope that helps.

  • Can multiple users work on a Numbers spreadsheet at the same time

We want to acess and edit a spreadsheet with two users in different locations using iPads. Not at exactly the same time but without having to close out of the app like Excel.

I've seen changes I've made on my iPad show up on the same document that's been open all the time on my Mac, which suggests it might be possible. However, I've also had a small number of notifications that documents on different devices are not in sync with each other. So while it might have the potential to work, I'd be inclined to think it would be quite unreliable.

how to put continuos (desired format) of dates in numbers spreadsheet and how to do it? please reply asap i need it..

This is the definition for "continuo" from Apple's dictionary:
continuo |kənˈtinyəˌwō | (also basso continuo) noun (pl. continuos) (in baroque music) an accompanying part that includes a bass line and harmonies, typically played on a keyboard instrument and with other instruments such as cello or bass viol.
Presumably you mean something else. Your chances of getting replies that can help you will improve with a clearly stated question.

  • Multiple Users Syncing on Same Computer

Is it possible to allow multiple users to sync their Palm Pilots to their individual oracle calendar account on the same computer? I have fifteen palms syncing on the my computer and I want each of them to connect to a different oracle calendar username.
    Thanks

    Hi,
if you really want to be sure, that there is no confusion when synchronizing the iPad or your 4G you should create a second iTunes library. Just hold down the Shift button when opening iTunes. You'll be asked if you want to create a new library, or open an existing one.
This way you can switch between the libraries and no one of your data will be loaded on the iPad or vice-versa.
It shouldn't be a problem if the iPad is not synced with iTunes for 3-4 months.

  • Multiple users sync

My husband and I each have an iPhone but want to sync different contact, calenders and email. We also each have our own iPod. Can we set up for multiple users on the same iTunes, syncing the different information? If so, how? Can we use multiple computers (work and home) to sync one iPod?

Probably best for each of you to have your own computer login account on the shared computer at home. You can sync your contact information and calendar events with the supported application under your login account, and your husband will sync his contact information and calendar events with the supported application under his login account.
Email is not synced during the iTunes sync process. You can transfer email account setup information from your computer to your iPhone so you don't have to manually create the email account or accounts on your iPhone, but account mailboxes and messages are not synced with the iTunes sync process.
If you don't want the same iTunes library available under each computer login account, your husband can sync iTunes content only under the existing computer login account, and his contact information and calendar events under his computer login account.
Or you can transfer your entire iTunes library from your computer to an external drive, so each computer login account can access the same iTunes library from the external drive.
Regarding iTunes content, an iPhone can be synced with a single iTunes library on one computer only. Regarding contact information, calendar events, and bookmarks, an iPhone can be synced with multiple computers - with two Macs, two PCs, or with a Mac and a PC.

  • Time Capsule with multiple users. Data Safe?

    Hi.
I was just wondering if the I use Time Capsule with multiple users (multiple macs) I believe the backups are all seperated and password protected. Am I right?
But what about the migration assistant? Doesn't the migration assistant help you to transfer your data from one mac to your new one without asking for a password? So wouldn't it be easy to use the migration assistant to get data of another time capsul backup?
At the work place of my girlfriend they are using time capsul, and I'm not sure if I would advise her to backup her data to that timecapsule. Ok you can exclude folders, but not the mailaccount.

    Thanks for the reply.
But isn't it possible to transfer data from an old user account to a new account with a different name? Wouldn't that overide the password prompt?
No more or less than on your Mac.
I mean I understand that if you migrate a user account from one mac to another you wouldn't gain access to the home folder of that user, but as I understood the migration assistant it is possible to migrate data to a folder of your choice. I did not try it yet but that's what I (maybe misunderstood) read here http://web.me.com/pondini/Time_Machine/19.html
No. You can select which user accounts to transfer, but you can't transfer one user's data to another.

  • Multiple users uploading data to Live cache

Sorry posted in wrong thread. Please find this thread in Master data and general.
    Closing this one
    Hello ,
Does APO has the capability to handle flat file uploads simultaneously to live cache  by 5 different users or does it throw out a message asking other users to wait until one upload is finished.
We have a situation where users upload the flat files and based on these files the CVC creation process kicks off (If there are any new combinations). But every time more than one user tries to upload the file the system would nt allow other users to upload.
Any help or input is highly appreciated.
    Thank you,

Thanks a lot of the prompt reply.
Let me be more specific. The users upload sales data to APO (APO Info cube) in Work week versions. So the planners usually don't upload same CVCs but sometime they do upload all at once, say once every week or month.
So when you say "Object" say the object in my case is APO BW infocube. The second part of your response compliments the idea that it might not be possible to do a simultaneous upload. Correct me if i am wrong. I am a little confused with the very first statement  ("Yes it is possible..." and the second part of you response about the locking.
Can you please explain what would happen in each case when the recipient is 1. Info cube 2. Planning area
    Thanks a lot.

  • Multiple users, avoiding data loss

    Hi, Here is the problem
User a reads data from row r in table t
User b reads data from row r in table t
User b updates data and writes back to table t
User a updates data and writes back to table t
    User b's update was lost.
We are using custom DAO, JDBC, a transaction level of Read_Committed, a connection pool, Oracle DB and OC4J
I think that the DB would be fine as far as consistency is concerned, but What I'd like to know is the best way to stop user b's update being lost as they would think they had made an update but the DB wouldn't reflect this?
    Any help/ideas greatly appreciated

    Cheers for responding Avi,
Okay so I need to code it rather than rely on the Database, what is the best way to go?
In my opinion, the real problem is showing user "a"
the row with user "b"'s update. Would a
    scroll-sensitive "ResultSet" ensure that? (I don't
know, since I haven't tried it.)This won't be a problem as users a&b are at the same level and can change the same rows.
But once user "a" has overwritten user "b"'s change,
then user "b"'s change is gone. What would you
expect? A message to user "a" saying, 'sorry, you
can't change this row because another user already
has!'Something like that I was thinking of just putting up the jsp again causing the DAO to re-read the record, with a message telling the user what has happened. For this app we can't have customer info (possibly entered by user b) disappear...
Any further ideas? or places to go look?

  • Aperture and multiple user syncing

    Hello all,
Is anyone syncing with aperture with more than one user account. I have my aperture library at /Users/Shared that my wife and I both use. I can sync up just fine with this library but she cannot under her iTunes. She gets a "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" error. I am completely stumped. We can both see the library just fine in Aperture. Thanks to anyone who can help. She is massively bummed that she can't have any pics on her iPhone and I can.

I don't know if this is a bug or if Apple is preventing >1 iPhone from syncing with a single Aperture library. I can't imagine why they would do the latter, since the flow of images is only one-way (Aperture --> iPhone).
In the meantime, you could export low res versions of the photos that your wife wants on her iPhone, import them into iPhoto, and see if she can sync with that. You can also choose to sync the iPhone with a specified folder, so that could work too.

  • Merging multiple Excel files into one Numbers spreadsheet

I am a teacher and have about 40 different Excel files. Each file has one worksheet with the name of my student and his/her grade in the 2nd column. I'd like to merge all these files into just one Numbers file. I can obviously copy/paste over and over but I'd like to find an easier way. Thanks!

they did announce in the past few months that the NEW version, due out in a few more years I guess, will bring VBA back. not availble in an update, you will be forced to rebuy the software to regain funtionlaity that should never have been removed in the first place.
Personally, for everything at home, I am making due without M$. just inherited an older G4 iMac, All Apple software, nothing M$ on that machine, and she works great.

  • Is there a way for multiple users to sync to iCloud  with only one administrator?

Is there a way to have multiple users sync to an iCloud account with single administrator so the files cannot be changed on the cloud?  This would be for sales people to have the latest product shots without the ability to delete or change the albums in iPhoto.

I don't believe so.  Every device that is signed into a shared iCloud account has the same privileges.

  • Working with multiple users and computers, but shared data

Sorry if this is posted in a poor place, I'm not sure where the best place is. This is sort of a general questions.
For a long time, my wife and I have had either one computer, or two machines but one has definitely been just a terminal. We've basically set up all of our data to be one one primary machine, and if we want to view/edit that data we have to use that machine.
We just got a new MacBook Pro and I would like to be able to use two machines as equals. Sadly, this idea of multiple computers, with two users and some shared data is really giving me difficulty. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to best manage things like:
Synchronizing portions of our contact list (We share about 50% of the combined library -- we don't have to share all though).
How to manage iPhoto so that we can each have access to the photos. As an added difficulty (or maybe this is easier?) my Wife just wants to have access to the pictures for viewing and sharing on Facebook/Picassa/etc. I am the only one who wants to edit, correct and cull our library. That said, I always edit when I first put the data on the machine, and almost never again; so it would be fine to have one (or both accounts) set up as view only for the iPhoto data.
How to manage iTunes so that we can each have access to the music. As a super awesome bonus, it would be great if we could have three libraries: His, Hers and Shared. Maybe as much as 30% of our music library is similar, the rest just gets in the way.
What is the best solution people have found for calendars? (I'm thinking two separate calendars, and we each subscribe to each others iCal feed)
Mail.app and bookmark synching is not really a problem for us.
    Two extra points:
    * One machine is portable, and the other isn't. Ideally, when the laptop is out of the house, both machines should still have reasonable access to the shared data. That is: Just dumping things in the shared folder won't work because when the laptop is out of the house we will be disconnected from the source data.
    * We just got a second iPhone. This means that both of us will be taking photos/video separately and trying to synch back to the master data store.
    * Basically, I'm trying to minimize data duplication as much as possible, and just synchronize the systems to each other.
Thanks a ton in advance. If anyone has any suggestions at all, I would love to hear them. Including "This is in the wrong forum, go ask here instead..."

So you have a desktop Mac and a laptop Mac, right? Two user accounts (and a third admin account) on each computer, right?
I profess that I haven't tried this, but here is how I would approach your problem:
Sharing Music and Photos between multiple user accounts on the same computer:
See if http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=194992 and http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=510993 provide any useful information to assist you in this endeavor.
    Sharing across multiple computers:
Turn on file sharing on the Desktop (System Preferences > Sharing). Now you can mount the Desktop as an external drive on the laptop's Desktop. Copy the music and photo folders across. Will take awhile to do the first time. Then, for future use, get a copy of the donationware CarbonCopyCloner or equivalent. You can use CCC to selectively sync specific folders from one computer to the other. There may be a hassle with digital copyright issues on music and movies, though.
    Calendars:
As you have suggested yourself, publishing yours and subscribing to hers is probably the best way to do it, on the same computer. Across computers, syncing with CCC or equivalent would probably be the way to go.

click and hold on one cell, then drag to select the range, then release, then type the delete key.  Only inlude cells in the range you do not want to keey the contents of the cell.  You can remove one-off cells by holding the command key and clicking cells to add or remove as needed.

  • Syncing multiple user accounts

I have 2 user accounts on my computer. We both use the same email accounts, .mac and a POP account. Will mail keep both user accounts up to date (incoming mail) or do I have to set up syncing?
    Thanks
    Joe

Not sure what you mean, but I guess the answer to your question is yes, although maybe not the way you want or expect. More precisely, it may work the way you want or expect for one account but not for the other, as the way POP and IMAP accounts work is completely different -- .Mac is IMAP by default, but can be set up as POP as well.
First of all, .Mac Sync services are for synchronizing Mail settings only. The synchronization of mail is achieved by storing it on the server, regardless of whether you have a .Mac account or not.
For IMAP accounts, mail stored on the server is fully synchronized between all computers and/or users that access the account, meaning that if mail is read/moved/deleted from one computer or user account, the same happens on the rest as well.
POP accounts, on the other hand, allow the same messages to be downloaded from multiple computers and/or user accounts independently of one another if configured to leave mail on the server for some time (Preferences > Accounts > Advanced), but don’t really provide any kind of synchronization, i.e. mail downloaded on one computer or user account can be read/moved/deleted without that having any effect on the mail downloaded on the rest.
IMAP is ideal for a single user that wants to be able to access his/her mail from multiple computers. If what you really want is multiple users to be able to access the same mail account, however, IMAP may be inappropriate, because if one user reads, moves or deletes a message, that message will also appear to the rest of users as having been read, moved or deleted.
