Multiple users using same email account

I'm the computer tech for a volunteer fire department. We have multiple officers using this computer and each one wants access to the same email account under their personal user accounts. Can this be done?

You just need to "move" the profile to a common access location.

  • Is it possible to give multiple users the same email account using different individual user ids/passwords (iMS 5.1)?

    Hence, a manager could let one or more assistants access the manager's email. Also one could set up a group email account and multiple users with different id/passwords could process/manage the account.

    Yes, look in the admin guide for the shared folders section. This in essence allows you to delegate permissions of individual mail folders to other users.
    The functionality is being enhanced for iMS 5.2 due out shortly according to iPlanet.

    How to update software on multiple iPhones using same iTunes account?

    Here are more details on my situation which should help clarify things...
    I purchased three iPhone 4 models back when they first came out (for my family) that all share the same iTunes account for access to apps and music, but each phone/user still has his/her custom contact list, email accts, and select lists of apps and music from the one iTunes acct library.  The problem is (as I understand it) that I can only update the software on one of the three iPhones – the primary phone I used to setup the iTunes acct without wiping out the separate contact lists, etc. As it stands today... the first (primary) iPhone associated with the iTune acct has been updated with the latest software version 5.1.1 and sync'd up with all the apps, music, etc from the one iTune acct, while the other two iPhones are still running on the original software version 4.0.2 and are experiencing problems now. I was advised by AT&T back in January that it would be necessary to setup separate iTunes accts for the second and third iPhones in order to receive system updates and still be able to manage separate contact lists, etc. If I go this route, I assume we will lose all the apps on phones #2 and #3 that we have been "sharing"... correct? Since this AT&T advice was prior to iCloud coming out, would iCloud be a better solution or at least part of the solution? I really don't yet understand how iCloud works. Hopefully, one of you can help me??
    we have 2 iphone 4's synced to the same itunes account for apps and music since the day we bought them, but each has a different icloud acct. they have both been updated on the same itunes account with every update that has come out since we bought them in december of 2010. nothing on either phone has ever been lost or duplicated. having said all that, maybe i'm missing something here, but we have had no problems. we do have itunes setup to sync manually. i do believe i'm a piker compared to lawrence finch, but i'm just telling you what happens in my house. maybe check with apple? is there a store near you?

    You can have an unlimited number of devices that you own or control for private use tied to one iTunes account. But you have only have five tied to one iCloud account.

  • Can 2 face time users share same email account

    My wife and I want to communicate with Face Time and we currently only have one email account.  Can 2 Face Time users share the same email account ?

    You can not use one account to make a video call right through the app FaceTime I recommend creating an account only to call when you ask for a payment you put in "none" and that's all

  • How to access mail if different users use same email - sent, trash, etc, are not the same in both user's thunderbird. How do I fix that?

    I have different users on my computer, me, spouse, etc. We share the same email. I have thunderbird loaded correctly in one account. In the other account it only grabs the inbox messages, not the sent messages. How do I get it so both thunderbirds work in both accounts on the same computer? Right now I need to switch user to view the sent emails that are sent from the other account.

    IMAP will sync messages, but if your sharing on a single computer you would probably be better off sharing the same profile. It is not as if you will both be using it at the same time. The information in this link should help with that.

  • TS3510 Multiple devices on same email account, have a question for forum??

    Hello, my son who lives with my ex-wife has an itouch with facetime and imessage. His itouch is set up under my ex-wife's email account. I am aware and have been, that whenever he and I use imessage she receives all the messages on her iphone as well. My question is, can she view facetime conversations as well between my son and I on her iphone?
    Thanks!

    Not unless she is looking over his shoulder.  Facetime call will be answered on one device and the other device cannot join in as far as I know

  • Multiple people using same admin account boot each other out

    Hello,
    One of our clients has a number of trainers that need to use the same admin email address to log in and export reports.  It seems like only one person can be logged into the account at a time, which makes sense - but this will cause the trainers that get booted from the CMS to lose their work.  Then there will be confusion over whether or not it's safe to log back in because they will boot the person out that just booted them.
    Is there a way to lock the login for an admin email so that if Person A is logged into the CMS, Person B won't be able to log into the CMS with the login until Person A logs out?
    If that isn't an option, is there a way to display on a web page whether or not the admin login is in use?  We just need some kind of automated way to mitigate this.  We can't have a shared doc where people can checkout the login because with the number of trainers, people are bound to mess up that kind of manual process.
    Any ideas are appreciated.
    Thanks

    This is 100% a security feature and a must. One of the biggest security issues at a company is when people share passwords. Some of the biggest stories of "hacking" out there in the web - most are not actual true hacks but people gaining access based on bad passwords, keyloggers on someones machine or moreover sharing logins etc.
    Change why and how your doing this with any client ASAP!

  • Multiple users using same files, but with different libraries

    My wife and I both have our own iPhone 3Gs. We also have separate user accounts on our MacBook Pro. We would like to share the music/video files that we've got stored on a network drive, but we don't want to have the same library file. We both have different tastes in music, so I'd prefer if our song ratings were separate, as well as the rest of the library info (namely "last played date"). Is there a way that we can keep separate library files, but also be able to have new song purchases on one library automatically added to the other?

    And it would be enough to get to the title of the button
    The sender param should be a pointer to the originating button, and you can use the button's tag property to id it. E.g.:
    -(IBAction) setSize:(id)sender {
    UIButton *button = sender;
    NSString *title = button.currentTitle;
    int tag = button.tag;
    NSLog(@"sender=%@, title=%@, tag=%d", sender, title, tag);

  • How can 2 users of the same email account tell if one has already read email

    I have 2 users who access the same email account and they need to know if an email has been read by the other person so work doesn't get duplicated.

    I assume you are using IMAP. Probably the most simple solution is to create two folders: one for person1 and one for person2. Then when one of them reads and acts on an email, they can move it from the Inbox to their own folder. That way you still have the emails, but you know who worked on each one.

  • Can we both use the same email account on our iPhones?

    My  husband and I each have iPhone 4s (1-4s, 1-4), but we use the same email account.  Can we each have the same email account on our iPhones?  If yes, please provide details.

    Yes, just set the same account up on both devices. Make sure it is setup as IMAP (not POP3) so that the first person to check the email account each time doesn't download all the email from the server.
    As we don't know who your email provider is, we can't provide any specific details on the setup.

  • Why are there multiple keychain records for same email account?

    I have noticed that it takes sometimes up to 45 seconds for Apple Mail to send (whoosh...) an email. Then I started getting an alert asking for my password intermittently.
    I checked my KeyChain Access and note 5 records for this email account dating back to 2007 and while the password hasn't changed in all these years, I note the "Where" field is different in some of these records. So my uneducated hunch is Apple Mail is getting a little confused and having to go thru all 5 records insteads of just one.
    As note multiple records for other email accounts and website logins I have.
    1. Why is this happening?
    2. Is it normal
    3. Can I, should I, delete all but one for each item be it an email account or web login, etc.
    or
    Should I delete all 5 and let a brand new one be created for Keychain next time I send or get email for this particular email account?
    I also see there is some info on keychain syncing. Does this have anything to do with my situation?
    Thx,
    Steven

    I'm a little distracted with Steve's passing. He will be missed to say the least
    But if it isn't too disrepectful to reply at this time, I'm unclear with your advise because there are 5 items all for the same email account. A couple are duplications, and the others have slightly different "Where" info.
    I can't imagine I need all 5 and wonder if I should delete 4 and keep the newest one?
    All my email accounts have multiple entries.
    Anyone know why this is happening and if it's OK to delete the oldest ones and keep just the newest?

    Whatever the reasons are that you think the problem exists, you will not be able to resolve it on your own. Did you see this at the bottom of the support article that I suggested that you read?
    Additional Information
    If the issue persists, you can visit iCloud Support, iTunes Support, Apple Print Products, or contact AppleCare for further assistance.
