Multiple Variable Inputs in Query- Bug in Bex??

Hi,
I have Multiple Variables I am using in a Query. After I Input a Value Range to suppose a date field, and then for another variable I use the drilldown box to select an Input for this variable, The First Value of My date field dissappears but the other value in the range still remains. Only If i make this Variable Mandatory with Interval, it does not dissapear.
This is not only applicable to Date Variable but also for Serail nbr, etc where I enter a range for the variable and when I input a second variable using the drilldown box feature, the first value dissapears from the earlier varaible input.
Please advice.
Thanks and Regards
Andy.

Hi Bhanu,
Suppose I enter a range for
Serial Nbr variable as CC22* and CC35*
and then use drilldown feature to Input another variable Prdtn year (2004).
The first value for Serial nbr (CC22*) dissapears..
Hope this helps...Or I can explain more..
Thanks ANdy

  • Max number of entries in the variable input list (F4) of Bex Analyzer Query

    Dear BW experts,
When I run the Bex Analyzer query, it pops up the variable input screen.
If I don't know the specific value of the variable, then I can click on the input help (F4) to get a list of available values.  There is a max number of entries coming back to the list.  For my BW system, it is currently returning 500 values.  For other people and SAP Help document, it could be 1000.
My question is: Do you know where we can configure/set this max value? Is it a global setting?
Thanks in advance for your help in this matter.
    Kevin-

    Murali & Pra,
Thanks for both of your answers.  I think the answers that you provided are for BW 7.X version.
It is flexible and exactly the way it should be for each user to customize a specific variable.
I am running BW 3.5 query, and don't see the "Settings" option/button after I got the list of single values back.
Is there a way to set this up for BW 3.5 query Analyzer?  My max value is always 500 for all variables.  Is there a place for setting this value and save for the next time.
Any help from any BW experts is appreciated.

  • Input Ready Query, Variable read mode setting Only Values for InfoProvider

    Hi,
I have a problem with Selection Variable for a BEx Query :
    - I'm working with SAP BI 7.0 support package 15
    - My query is an input ready query built for an "aggregation level" based on "real time infocube" (Planning);
    - Characteristic, I want to filter with variable, has query property Advanced->Query Execution for Filter Value Selection = Only Values in InfoProvider
    - Characteristic (info-object) has set the property: Business Explorer tab--> Query Def. Filter Value Selection as Only Values in the info-provider...
    My problem is:
    when I execute a query,
the Select Values for Variables screen appears
I push on the Select from List button
and Select Values For MyCharacteristic appears...
but it shows me all values in master data table of my characteristic instead of only values in the infoprovider!!!
If I build a query for the Real Time Cube it works correctly, but if the query is built for the aggregation level it doesn't work!
Could someone explain me why it doesn't work correctly?
    Thanks in advanced

    Dear Fede,
Regarding the query built on aggregation level please note the following
the aggregation level is always a Virtual Provider built other
InfoProvider and hence it does not have the dimension table and hence
the F4 mode D is not supported.
Therefore when aggregation level is used in a query, F4 does not supportD-mode: 'Only Values in InfoProvider' and all master data values are
    displayed in the value list.
    Reference from the note
984229 F4 modes for input help as of SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI
    4. Since other InfoProviders do not have a dimension table, the system
displays only posted values if you select "Only Posted Values for
Navigation". Otherwise, it displays the values from the master data
    table.
Hope this should clarify your doubts. Please let me know if you have
questions else please confirm the message at your earliest convenience.

  • Variable input values in the query are displayed wrong

    Hi experts,
I executed a report and in the variable input screen it asks for a key date and company code.
We entered key date and company code and executed the report.
We want to take a print out of the output. But the variables which we entered in the variable screens are
dispalying wrong. i.e if we have entered company code as gsml and key date as 01.01.2008.
In the report output I am getting as:
    Company code: gsml
    Keydate: #..27-11-4745
But keydate should be displayed as 01.01.2008
    How to solve this ?
    Regards,
    Nishuv.

    Nishuv,
    Please follow below steps:
    1. Open query through Bex - Query Designer
    2. Beneath the Rows Area( where you actually  drag in charactertistics), you'll be finding two tabs Filter and Rows/Columns
    3. Click on Filter Tab
4.You'll be navigated to a window, there you can trace two Workareas
            a. Characteristic Restrictions: Where drag in the relevant Prompts/Input Variables
            b. Default Vaules
5.First, Drag the required promts/Input Variables in Characteristics Restrictions.
6.Click on the varible which was dragged in Characteristic Restriction area and drop it into default values area.
7.Now you'll have visibility of variable in two regions, Characteristics and Default Values.
    8. Save and Execute the Query

  • Copy Input Ready Query Variables into Planning Sequence

    Hi all,
We have the following scenario. We developed a model using Web Template. The model has an input ready query and a Panning sequence associated with it. Both of them using the same Planning Filter that has a input variable for Profit Center (say ZPCTR). If I run this model in Portal the planning sequence automatically takes the variable given for the input ready query and the sequence runs without any problem.
We were asked to implement the same model in BEx as the users felt more comfortable using Excel when working on this model. When we assinged the planning sequence to a button and after we run the input ready query and then click on the button to run the planning sequence, we get an error message saying "You have to enter values before you execute". The Planning sequence is not taking the values we enter for the input ready query automatically.
I read through the forums on the same issue and saw that most of them reported about the same but could not find a conclusive answer. I tried the following options.
    1) Enter the expected values in the excel in one location and gave the address in the "Command Range" of the planning sequence. Still it does not work.
    2) Tried SAP suggested method as given in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/e301089d574a88e10000000a155369/frameset.htm It also does not work
    3) Couple of them suggested to use a different variable for Profit Center in the filter of Planning sequence (say ZPCTR_EXIT) and populate this variable. I wrote an exit for this variable and populated a fixed value say '100' into it. The sequence runs as expected. But I do not want use a constant, I want to store the value entered in ZPCTR into ZPCTR_EXIT.
when I use the regular logic "LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO var_inpiut WHERE vnam = 'ZPCTR' ", it does not work. the exit variable works if I store some constant values, not variable values.
Can you please suggest how can I work with this. Is there any table from which I can read the profit center value the users enters into the Exit variable.
    Thanks for your time,
    Ram.

This error generally comes when we use some user input variable in the sequence which is not restricted in the query. Even though you are using the same filter for both planning sequence and query, check the planning functions inside the sequence which might read an user input variable which is not available in the query so that it is not appearing in the query selection screen. Like in FOX reading a variable using VARV or a variable restricted in the field for condition of planning function etc. Make sure that all the variables used in the sequence (planning functions) are kept in query restrictions if they are of type ready for user input so that they will appear in the selection screen.

  • How to create an Input Ready Query in Bex Excel with no transact data

    Hi
We created a query where we want the user to put in NEW LINES. This query has in general no data when user starts planning.
We have 2 front-ends for this, Bex Web and Excel. Both shows initial 'no data available
BexWeb': Implementing the command set_data_entry_mode we get all the relevant columns for the input
Excel: Command set_data_entry_mode or set_input_mode does not allow the users to insert new lines. Still error message pops up 'no data available'
Do you have a solution for that ?
    Regards,
    Thomas

    Hi Gregor,
In the note 1149346 that you have mentioned, it says -
You must start the input-ready query in change mode.
BEx Analyzer: In the properties of the analysis grid, the switch
"Suppress new rows" must not be set.  Furthermore,
the switch "Allow entry of plant values"
must be set in the local query properties.
I have not seen this setting Allow entry of plant values in a query - can you tell what is refers to?

  • Dynamic field selection by variable input in bex report

    Hi Frineds,
I have created  variable on characteristic  ( 0CURTYPE )  which mainly have two values 'A' and ' B' .Based on my variable input in Bex I have to dynamical select key figuers  Example .
    0CURTYPE    KeyfigA  KeyFigB
    A                    123 Rs   144 $
    B                     124 Rs   145 $
In above example is user select A I have to display KeyfigA   if I select B then i should display Keyfig B in Bex report .
I know that by using user exit in report we can do but I would like to try with out Exit .
    Thanks ,
    Kumar.

Your formula variable allowed to be of type either number or amount or date or quantity which are all numeric(currency type/type tab) .But your reference characteristics is a letter. So there is an inconsistency here and you can not make equal your formula variable and 0currtype's variable.
Have a look at Akshata's post in this thread :How to create formula variables in sap bi?
Therefore this model does not work and I can not see any other way apart from a very simple user exit which says if 0currype=A, then formula variable=0 else if 0currtype=B then formula variable=1.After that you can use your formula variable in your formula since the letters are now converted to numbers.
By the way it mustn't ask two things in the selection screen.Since your formula variable takes the values of 0currtype's variable automatically.Did you create the formula variable with replacement path(general tab) referencing to 0currtype?Just create a formula, enter this formula, right click create formula variable,go to general tab then replacement path then reference to 0currtype.But as I told, you nevertheless can not achieve it, just explaining it.

  • Show last data 0 in an Input-ready query - Bex

    Hi experts,
I have an Input-ready query working ok with IP (Integrated Planning).
The infocube contains information about date/material/stock_quantity (via DTP, date and material, and real-time introduced stock-quantity), the user (via Bex) only introduce the stock quantity.
This is an example of the real-time cube data:
    Date Material Quantity
    02/03/2011    M1     1000  (input via Input-ready-query)
    03/03/2011    M1     0   (planned via DTP)
    04/03/2011    M1     0    (planned via DTP)
    05/03/2011    M1     200  (input via Input-ready-query)
    06/03/2011    M1     50    (input via Input-ready-query)
    07/03/2011    M1     0    (planned via DTP)
I want to create a query-workwook that displays: if stock_quant.=0, show the last value <>0 of this material, if stock_quant<>0 it's ok:
    Example workbook desired,
    02/03/2011    M1     1000
    03/03/2011    M1     1000
    04/03/2011    M1     1000
    05/03/2011    M1     200
    06/03/2011    M1     50
    07/03/2011    M1     50
Do you know how could I show it via Bex-workbook or other loading way ?
    Thanks!!

    Hi Marcel,
an idea could be to create a virtual key figure and then to use it in the desired bex query. You will need also a way to create an mdx (pre-) query on the fly in order to have the quantity history of the material(s). This is a better approach than reading directly the infocube.
Take a look at the how to guide "How to ... Realize summarized display of stock values on storage location level". The specific scenario is quite similar with your own requirements. You can find the document on URL http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/index?rid=/library/uuid/eb9faa90-0201-0010-cc9c-cd2e6c0a549a

  • Cascading LOV in BEx Query OLAP Universe + BEx variable

    Hi gurus,
we have an universe where a Cascading LOV has been defined based on a BO Hierarchy ( based on a BW hierarchy), the OLAP universe is based on a BEx query.
Now, when the users create a WebI report selecting a value from the value list, the Cascading LOV appears and the user selects the value, descending by the nodes.
We are analyzing the universe performance and we are testing to add some time BEx variables in the query ( in the current version no variables are used).
Everything works properly but when we try to select a value from the Cascading LOV and try to select a lower level the webI returns a mdx error indicanting that the time variable is not informed. (WIS 10901: A database error ocurred; MDX query can not be executed: specify a value for the variable Z... )
We thought that the mdx for the LOV get values from the MD table because in the infoobject definition, it has the Business Explorer Settings:
Query Def. Filter Value Selection = Value in Master Data Table
Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn  = Value in Master Data Table
The Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn  can be defined at the infoprovider also (with the provider specific Properties of the infoobject) and also at the query, whe have not modify none of them.
My first question is which settings has efect at OLAP Universes, the infoobject settings; the infocube settings or the query settings ?
Are the Cascading LOV integrated with BEx Query OLAP Universe?
    Is it an application error?
    Many Thanks in advanced.
    Best Regards,
    Nuria

    Hi Ingo,
many thanks for your quick answer.
That was one of the possibilities we have analized but the problem is that the user has to inform the hierarchy level for all the reports, that kind of variables is translated in the universe as a prompt
Now we have only one universe and some business analists users create reports themselves for the business area based on that universe.
The users create WebI filters without prompts, just filtering the hierarchy node. If we add the BEx variable then the user sould inform the prompt for all the reports based on that universe.
We want to avoid that prompt, we have several hierarchies in the query for different infoobjects.
    Thanks again.

    Nuria

  • F4 help-only posted values-Bex variable input

    Hi
I have one hierarchy node variable on an infoobject. This infoobject is authorisation-relevent.The infoobjects hierarchy is activated in query designer. We have many hierarchies for this infoobject, one for every year.Recently,we chose new hierarchy for this infoobject as we moved into year 2011.
When I execute the query,in the variable input help F4 of the hierarchy node variable on this infoobject,I could see only some nodes(I couldnot see the required one).My user is unable to see anything. Please suggest how I can fix this problem.
    I have two problem:
1.I want to see the present nodes it is showing together with some more nodes that came with new hierarchy
2.As of now,my business USER is unable to see anything in F4 help for this variable...I want him to see the nodes which I would like to see also.
How can I fix these problems? All suggestions are welcome.
    My investigation:
I checked infoobject settings..'Query Execution Filter Val.Selectn'  is set to 'Only Posted values for navigation'....Does that mean infoobject will show only those values in F4 help that the query can find data for,in infocube in current navigation state..??
And there are two other options which can be choosen at infoobject level for 'Query Execution Filter Val.Selectn':
1.'Only Values in Infoprovider'--It will show only those values in F4 help for which there are values in dimension tables of cube/ods(does it mean in other way ,that master data for which we have transaction data in cube/ods???)
2.Values in Master Data tables:all values from master data tables.
Let me know if have wrong idea.........................
    Regards.

    Hi,
at the infoobject level always you need to select "all master data values".
please check the version of the hierarchy what ever you are using till 2010 you might be using one version in 2011.
load the info-object with the new version at the infopackage level.
    hope this helps

  • LV 8.2 DSC Multiple Variable Editor - Import/Export bug?

    Hi,
Has anyone used the export/import feature in the Multiple Variable Editor in LV DSC 8.2?  I'm having problems importing a Comma Separated Variable (CSV) file and it fails to include the "Bind to Source" parameters.
You can test this by simply exporting a bound variable and then importing it into a new library.  Not all the features are imported.
Is this a bug or have I simply not read the documentation or is it not meant to work like this!?
    ...Andy
    Lead Engineer, Controls and Electrical
    Irvine CA

    Rudi,
Apparently this has been identified by Doug Mumford (NI) in an email to our consultant (ThinkG):
"There is a bug in the importing/exporting of CSV files using the Multiple Variable Editor. This will be addressed in the next maintence release of LabVIEW. Attached is a VI that should fix this -- make a backup of the original and replace it with the attached VI. The path to this VI is <labview>\resource\dialog\variable."
See Doug, he'll have the VI.
The bug omitted a ":" e.g. "Network Buffsize" instead of "Network:Buffsize" so that when items were imported back in the items were loaded incorrectly.

    Hi,
In rsrt, enter the query name -> select query display as HTML -> In the big text box that appears below it type "variable_screen=x", without quotes and it should show you the variable screen.
