Multiple versions in PDF file

Hi!
I look for a way how to create PDF file that contains multiple versions of document. Like there is function "Show signed version" in the Adobe Acrobat, there should be something like "Show version xxx" and "Compare this version to version xxx".
Is this possible at all?
It seems to me that PDF format supports versioning internaly, Acrobat can work with versions, but I'm unable to find some description of how to use it.
Could you please direct me to some source?
Thank you,
--- Jaroslav

Thanks.
I have finally found that PDF is capable of incremental save. In that case, you can add next version at the end of file. Unfortunately I have not found how to display there incremental update another way than with digital signature.

Can this problem be remedied by using a redirection policy DLL for the GAC in the deployment environment (to make Oracle.DataAccess.dll use OraOps11w.dll instead of the non-existing OraOps10.dll)?
No. OraOps*.dll files are unmanaged files. They do not understand any .NET policies you specify, only traditional Windows Path policies, one of which Oracle provides through the DllPath setting. Using DllPath is described in Chapter 2 of the ODP.NET doc. It was first supported started with ODP.NET 10.2.0.4.
*1) am I correctly assuming that the only way for an application to support multiple versions of OracleClient is to actually "ship" an Instant Client with the application (aka xcopy deployment)?*
    Yes.
*2) If so, does that method of deployment also work if the application is supposed to be run from a network share? I.o.w. will the Oracle Instant Client in the application's deployment directory be also used when calling the application's executable from a network share?*
I never tried this myself, but if the network share is just seen as any other computer drive by Windows, it should be fine.

  • Manage multiple InDesign and pdf files

I'm looking for help managing multiple pdf files created from InDesign. I make several catalogs from multiple InDesign files. Each InDesign file could be used in multiple catalogs. These catalogs are output as pdf files. The pdf files are sent to print and also live on our website. I could update one InDesign file for a particular catalog. That same file could also be in another catalog that should be updated as well. The online version would need to be updated also. This doesn't always happen. There are so many things that have to be updated manually.
I know this is confusing and vague. I'm guessing there has to be a way to not have to do everything manually. There has to be a smarter way to do this.
I would appreciate any suggestions or even a push in the right direction for research.
    Thanks!

You know you can place InDesign files directly into another InDesign file.
Then when you update the master indesign file you will be prompted to update your links in any other document that this appears in.

  • Update version of pdf file in code

I would like to update pdf files from previous versions to 1.8 within code. This would provide users with updated files without having to sit through a long save process.

    Brad,
This indeed seems to be the only way to fulfill my need as the PDF files I need to add are pre existing and I'd like the complete report be generated by Diadem 'with one push of a button'.
After some minimal research I think I can get everything working as I would like using Ghostscript to convert any required PDF file to seperate PNG files and then load its pages.
    I currently use:
    Call ExtProgram ("C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.14\bin\gswin64c", "-dSAFER -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -r200 -sDEVICE=png16m -dGraphicsAlphaBits=4 -sPAPERSIZE=letter -sOutputFile=D:\Drop\Temp\PNG-%d.png D:\Drop\Temp\PDF.pdf")
I have tried to get a variables within this command for the input and output files and locations but couldn't get it to work so as is I'll have to shuffle files around to be able to use this rigid approach. If there is any way to get a variable within this code it's use would be a lot easier.
As the external program is called the script continues without knowing when the required info (files) is available. To prevent using a fixed pause time I tried to use a small pause and compare filesize before and after pause to determine if a file is fully available, Unfortunately this doesn't realy work as well as I hoped. Also I guess that used h/w and other processes running at the same time would effect what pause time to  use. I might have to find another way to see if a file is generated completely but I'll quote anyways:
    Do
    k= FileSize (Wrkdir & "PNG-"&i&".png")
    Call Pause (0.3)
    Loop Until (k=FileSize (Wrkdir & "PNG-"&i&".png"))
Although the script now does what it needs to do there is some shuffeling of files required because of the rigidity in the call to the external program and to keep it reliable longer than required pause times are needed.
The realisation of a function that will insert existing Pdf files(pages) is becoming within grasps If I can get around these 2 minor issues.

  • Multiple Passwords for PDF File

I know you can password protect a PDF very easily using Acrobat. What I would like to do is link the PDF to multiple passwords, rather than just a single password. I want to be able to send my document out to a few hundred people on CD, and each of them have their own unique password to open the file. Is anything like this possible? Thanks.

No. You can have only one open and one permissions password. Read the PDF Reference.

  • IE9 doesn't reflect updated PDF file but instead reflects from cached version

First, I apologise if this issue might be discussed/resolved somewhere, but if you have any solutions/ideas to what my issue might be, please help to share. And thank you in advance.
We have been using/filling PDF forms to generate dynamic FDF data. The URL/path to the PDF file is set inside the text/data of the generated FDF. The PDF file with the FDF data are shown to the browser. But with IE9, the browser always reflects cached version of PDF file, and not the updated version.  This is working fine for years in IE6..IE8, the updated PDF file with the dynamic FDF data are shown correctly. But in IE9, the FDF data is dynamically updated but the PDF file still shows the old version, which I think is from the cache.
In my testing, either I emptied the IE’s cache or set the Internet Option to check for newer versions of the page then it will reflects the updated PDF File. I tried Ctrl-F5 (to force refresh) too but no avail. I used Acrobat Reader 9 & 11, both having same problem, running on Windows 7.

Hi Pat. Thanks for your reply.
Actually, I already been checking any IE9 options that might be different from IE8, and tried to change "Security" settings also but still can't get the updated PDF file. Maybe you have in mind where I can specifically check and try out?
I have tried IE10, but also encounter the same problem. sigghhhh
I have been using this for years but no problem, this PDF/FDF document application is developed/created using Acrobat Professional ver6 and FDFtoolkit.

  • PDF file compatibility

What will be compatibility for reading a old version of PDF files (say Ver. 4, 5, 6) with latest version of Adobe Reader or writer (Say ver. 9, 10, etc.).

PDF files have a version number which is not the same as the software version.
    Example
    PDF 1.0 - relates to Acrobat 1.0
    PDF 1.5 - relates to Acrobat 6.0
PDF 1.7 - latest version (but there are later extensions with no number)
If a PDF was correctly made, all versions of Acrobat later than the introduction of the new features will work.
Later extensions include portfolios, and kinds of security.
There are many limitations on the tablet (e.g. iPad) versions of software.

  • Multiple versions of Photoshop ok? Conflicts? Hard drive space?

CS4 and CS5 Extended are currently installed on my computer, along with extensive number of third party plug-ins. I'm already encountering problems opening CS5 Extended--takes 2-3 tries before it actually opens; get "not responding" message first couple of times and have to force quit. Am concerned that purchase and installation of CS6 Extended will further complicate matters. Should I uninstall them before installing CS6 Extended? I currently have multiple Photoshop CS4 and 5 folders, etc in my Applications folder. Am thinking a clean-up is in order but thought I'd get advice before proceeding with CS6 purchase and attempt at clean-up. Also, if applicable, I have multiple Lightroom folders as well (2, 3, and 4) and am now having issues jumping over to Photoshop for additional editing from there. Thx

Yes, multiple versions mess with file associations. That's all it comes down to and pretty much the source of your troubles. Other than that there is no reason why one couldn't have multiple versions running, but feel free to consolidate and remove older versions....

  • Saving multiple versions of photo in iPhoto

Hi, I am just begiining to use iPhoto on my new Macbook Pro. I  have two questions related to saving multiple versions of the same photo:
After editing a photo I have noticed there is no Done or Save  or Save As options. All I see is back and forward arrows to go to a diferent photo. This bothers me in severasl ways. I may want to save the edited picture as some other revision without loosing the original. How do I do it? Also how to save multiple versions of edited files say version 1, 2, 3 etc? This is a very simple thing in most PC based photo editors but I cannot figure out in iPhoto. Not sure why Apple wants to be different each time.
Actually I have similar issues on iPad too so if you can answer th same question on that device also, I appreciate.
    Please help me!
    Thnx

As Larry said, iPhoto '11 on your Mac has a lossless workflow and will always save the original master image file in addition to your edited version. If you want to store more than one edited version of a photo, duplicate the photo before editing it, see: iPhoto '11: Duplicate a photo  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2408
Actually I have similar issues on iPad too so if you can answer th same question on that device also, I appreciate.
With Photo on your iPad you also have a lossless workflow and can undo all edits and revert to the original. You can save several edited versions of the same photo to the camera roll. See the iPhoto help for iPad: http://help.apple.com/iphoto/ipad/1.1/#blnka97fbb1f  on editing photos.
