Multiple versions of iMovie and iWork in Applications.

Hi
I have been ressearching this for the last few hours, have found some solutions, but nothing concrete.
After upgrading to Mavericks, I also updated iMovie and iWork. I now have the latest version of both, plus I also have the older versions of both still available in Applications too.
I understand why the older versions were not removed and continue to remain in Applications.
What is the correct method for removing these older versions?
Do I simply drag these older versions to the trash, or perhaps use something like AppCleaner?
I want to make sure that I not only remove the app itself, but anything else directly associated with it.
I can't find any information regarding this from Apple.
Thank you for any help

Anyone know?

    Hi
Did You ever use - iPhoto ?
Did You may be direct iPhoto to a different Photo Library
As iMovie tries to find the appropriate photo library - it can get lost if iPhoto direct it into a Library on a not connected external hard disk or to a strange location - And iMovie HANGS.
Do - When no other program is running that might interfere
    • Start iPhoto - BUT NOW KEEP alt-key (option key) DOWN during the full Start-Up process
    • Now iPhoto let's You select Photo Library
    • Select the one in Your Account / Home folder / Pictures ! !
    • Then iPhoto should start up OK
    • Now Quit iPhoto
    • START iMovie
Does it still hangs - then I would suspect - iMovie Pref. file
If it Run's OK - Then HURRAY !

  • Will iPhoto 6 work with an older version of iMovie and iDVD?

Some time ago, I upgraded from iLife 4 to iLife 6 and iPhoto 6 works great, but when I try to use iMovie 6 or iDVD 6 they will not work, either because the processor speed is too slow or the OSX (10.3.9) is too old. Is it possible to use iPhoto 6 (I like the editing features) with the older versions of iMovie and iDVD from iLife04.
    Thanks, Rick

    Requirements for iPhone 5:
Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
    iTunes 10.7 or later
The highest version of iTunes you can install is 10.6.3 which will not sync with the iPhone 5.

It's always a good idea to check the requirements before purchasing.
The person I spoke with at 1-800-MY-APPLE gave me totally different info...she said the iPhone 5 would in fact sync with the older version of iTunes and that I could restore from my previous iPhone 4 backup and also bring in my music that way.  Hmmm....
I'm inclined to go by the published specs, but now I have to jump thru a bunch of hoops I wasn't expecting to.

  • I recently installed older version of Imovie and final cut pro free trial now imovie 11 wont open what do I do?

I recently installed older version of Imovie and final cut pro free trial now imovie 11 wont open what do I do?

Do you mean that the old version of iMovie (which version?) worked until you installed the FCP trial?
Note that you can only transfer projects from the latest version of iMovie (10) to FCP 10.1

  • Versions of iMovie and iPhoto compatible with Snow Leopard

I finally managed to reinstall iMovie and iPhoto into the Snow Leopard side of my hard drive (I have partitioned it into Snow Leopard and
Mountain Lion). I want to use the last versions of both that are still compatible with Snow Leopard, but I don't want to download any updates that will take me into Mountain Lion territory. The iMovie version that I have downloaded is 8.0.4 (807), and the iPhoto version is 81 (415).  What versions are only compatible with Mountain Lion?

    Mende1,
If I understand you correctly, I can get the most advanced versions of iMovie and iPhoto in iLife 11. Furthermore, there is no danger of updating to the point that they will no longer be compatible with Snow Leopard. If I had known that before,I could have saved myself a great deal of trouble, and I could have done it long ago.  Well, live and learn.

  • Multiple versions of the same Web Dynpro application on the same SAP Portal

I have a single application (local development) and deploy directly to a SAP Portal(NW 7.0) from NWDS Version: 7.0.15
No problems there, works like a charm.
But I want to have multiple versions of the same application on one portal. Eg. ill build a version 1.0 for test and deploy this. Then continue to work on version 1.1 deploying this directly on the portal. The two versions should now co-existing under different names and/or packages.
    Please help.

    Hi Kim,
May be you can try this and see if this works for you. I am not 100% sure if it will work for you, but worth a try I guess. Create a Test WebDynpro project and try the following steps on this project. If they work  out correctly and serve the purpose for you only then try them on your actual Web Dynpro project.
    1. Create a test Web Dynpro project  say "TestWDProject" with Component say "Comp1" and the default views and windows etc.
Also create some working application our of this component and Windows using the Context.
    2. Right click the "Comp1" and select Copy.
    3. Right click 'Components" node in the project structure and select "Paste"
4.This step will try to paste the copy of Comp1 as a new Component.
    5. You can change the Name and Package of the Component.
6.Similarly you'll get the prompts for views, windows etc.
7.Once you have copied everything, Just check if everything looks good.
8.Now you can create a new Application using this new component and the Component Interface View and Deploy it.
9.Test whether the Application created out of this copy works same as the original component.
You can also try to create another Web Dynpro project and paste the Comp1 in the Components node of that new project and perform the same steps.
Again, try with these Test Projects and see if this serves your purpose before applying the steps on actual projects.

  • I downloaded the newest version of iMovies, and now my camcorder won't import video. What can I do to correct this? Is there any way to go back to an older version of iMovies?

My camcorder is incompatible with the newest version of iMovies. What can I do to make it compatible again?

You should still have the old version in your App Folder.
I have iMovie HD 6, iMovie 9, plus iMovie 10 and all run just fine in Mavericks.

  • Multiple versions of Apache and PHP

I'm setting up a new Xserve with Apache2 and PHP5. I understand that Xserves ship with Apache2 and Apache 1.1 already installed and when I do
    httpd -v
it reports back the older version of Apache. When I do
    php -v
    it reports back version 4.4.1.
At the time I investigated this, I didn't know Apple had pre-installed Apache2 so I installed it via Fink and FinkCommander. When I installed it originallyl from the entropy.ch files, asking httpd for its version reported the older version even though the System Preference pane said that Apache2 was up and running. What is going on that both are running simultaneously?
After installing Apache2 via Fink, httpd now properly reports its version as 2.0.55... which is what I would expect after properly updating Apache from 1 to 2.
I'm experiencing something similar with my PHP5 installation via Fink. Asking terminal for php -v reports version 4.4.1, however when I query PHP through a web script running phpinfo() it reports back in the web browser as being version 5.0.4.
So, what triggers the command line to report back different versions of installed web services than other methods? Why does my webpage through phpinfo() report back 5.0.4 where terminal says php -v is 4.4.1? Does it even matter? Does this mean two copies of PHP are running? What turned on the old version? I thought PHP had to be triggered by a PHP request. Why does Apache2, when insttalled through one method still report the older version when queried through terminal, but installed a idffererent way report the new version? Why did that not seem to afffect the ability for Apache2 to run properly? What does the version, as reported through terminal, of a given web service even mean if multiple versions of web services can run simultaneously and multiple reports of those versions can return different results? For that matter, how can I then truly verify that the version running is the version I installed? It wasn't until terminal reported my version of httpd as being 2.0.55 until I felt like the Apache2 installation was truly successful. Was I overthinnking the problem? Is there even a problem? Aaaagghghgh!!!!!!
    17 Powerbook - 1.5Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   2GB RAM, Adobe CS2, Xcode 2.2

Ahhh!!!! OK, that makes a ton of sense. I checked the PATH environment variable and see what you're talking about.
This kind of leads to a follow up question . If I do a
    php -v
and I get back some information about some version of php installed at some path referenced in the environment variable, how can I tell what path OS X found the php command in? Is there any way to say, "Hey, computer, tell me where you think php is located." Because there are seven or eight paths I could search in, but it seems like a trivial matter for the computer to just tell me where it's looking, rather than me hunting for the command file.
It also seems that fink has installed /sw paths into my environment variable for me and that my apache httpd command is located in one of these but my new installation of php5 is not. That's really what was tripping me up was that I hadn't modified the environment variable for $PATH myself and some things were reporting properlly and others were not. Fink did most of the work I expected, but not all, leading to a confusing version report.

  • Uninstall iMovie and Reinstall using Applications disk

    Hi there everybody,
When I open iMovie, I get a message saying that some of the Quicktime components are missing and reinstall iMovie. This happened after I uninstalled Final Cut Express. Since iMovie is installed, the Applications Disk does not give an option to install iMovie, so I'm guessing that I need to uninstall iMovie and reinstall.
How do I go about this properly without losing any of my movie data (there isn't that much).
    Thanks in advance.
One more thing: I'm using Lion and iMovie 11 is my issue.

If you have an iLife disk that you purchased, (you should have iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD)
This will not affect your iMovie Project, Events, or finished movies.
Drag the iMovie app from the applications folder to the trash. Then use your disk to reinstall.
If your iMovie came preinstalled on a new imac and you get your iMovie updates through the App Store...
In this case, you would have iMovie, GarageBand, and iPhoto, but not iWeb or iDVD.
This will not affect your iMovie Project, Events, or finished movies.
You can either drag iMovie to the trash from the Applications folder. OR you can open LaunchPad and drag the icon for iMovie to the trash. Then open App Store and install from there.
If your iMovie came preinstalled on a new Mac, and you do not get iMovie through the App Store.
In this case, you should have iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, iWeb, and iDVD.
This will not affect your iMovie Project, Events, or finished movies.
Go to the Applications Folder and drag the icon for iMovie to the trash. Then reinstall from your OSX System Disk that came with your Mac. Do not reinstall OSX, but look under the Utilities menu for software to install.

  • I installed the new version of IMovie and it took control of my camera, how do I get it to run on my old version again?

I installed the newer version of Imovie 10.0.1 and it took control from my camera so that I can not record my image on the older version imovie 8.0.6 which I enjoy using. How can I retrive the camera from the newer system?

    For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 . <br />

  • Multiple Songs in iMovie and making the DVD

I just tried to make the DVD from my iMovie, and the second song that I have did not play ?
Am I doing something wrong ?
    Thanx.

Share>Create DVD  produces disks that most people are happy with aside from the sparton menus.
The Compressor to DVD Studio Pro workflow provides greater control over both menus, content and the quality of the DVD. One of the benefits of using DVD STudio Pro is that it allows you to test short sections of your movie, make adjustments in the Encoder settings and Frame Controls and evaluate the effects on image quality.
What kind of video are you having poor results with…progressive or interlaced? Or both?

  • Multiple versions of QT and iTunes on control click's "Option with"

When I control click on an item, the open with menu populates two choices of QT 7.2.1 and 7.3. The same is true for iTunes and Safari. When I select the older version, a new QT icon appears in the dock. Is this normal behavior? Strangely enough, when I select "other" application and a new finder window comes up, the duplicate applications are not listed. Is anyone else experiencing this?
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

  • Multiple Versions of BR and PS_ 32 bit and 64 bit_too many

After installing the PS CS6 download Upgrade, I now have 4 ver. of BR, CS5 32 and 64,  CS6 32 and 64, and 4 ver. of PS, CS5 32 and 64, and CS6 32 and 64. What is the best way to reduce that BLOAT ? I am using Win. ver. 7.
To make matters worse, Win 7 does not seem to recognize BR as an installed application. It does not appear on the Remove or Modify list. And only Two versions of  PS are on the list, both 32 bit. Oh, and one more trick, when I first opened PS CS6, BR CS6 worked fine, however, now BR will not open in the CS6 ver., even if I navigate to the file that contains the exe. and double click, only the CS5 ver. opens. The good news, both BR CS5 and all ver. of PS, CS5 and CS6 seem to perform just fine.

Uninstall the programs, run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, manually delete any folders that are leftover thereafter, reinstall only CS6. Bridge is part of PS and does not have a separate installer entry.

  • How can I install multiple versions of Firfox, and block the older versions from updating while allowing one version to continue updating?

I need to have several versions of FF installed for training and testing purposes, but I can't keep older versions from updating. All versions will auto-update regardless of setting auto-update to off or suggest.

hello miklewis, you can try to use portable versions of older versions of the browser & set them to not update (those are not provided by mozilla directly): http://sourceforge.net/projects/portableapps/files/Mozilla%20Firefox%2C%20Portable%20Ed./
