Multiple video streams displayed on separate monitors

I'm working on a project that will have 6 screens showing 6 different pieces running simultaneously. We'll be cutting all 6 pieces in FCP, but i was wondering if there is anyway to view multiple video streams on 6 different displays running at the same time in FCP? Obviously some sort of display hub or router needs to be had, or perhaps some other hardware/software.
Anyone have any great ideas?

My old video professor from school did a lot of video installations. He often had trouble keeping multiple DVD players in sync with one another, they would drift over time. If you are thinking about the DVD player route, make sure you're using the exact same model for each player, and make sure to run tests over a long period of time.
Of course, using an external genlock would probably prevent that, too.

    Charles,
    What the client is asking for is PiP (Picture in Picture), and Colin has outlined the method for creating the PiP.
    I also find it easiest, when doing a lot of PiP work, to use alignment grids, to help me with both the Scaling and the Position. This ARTICLE goes into a bit more detail. For PiP, I will usually create a custom alignment grid, similar to this:

  • HELP: Is it possible to record from multiple video streams using iMovie?

    Is it possible to record from multiple video streams using iMovie.
    I want to record a presenter on a greenscreen and also his powerpoint slides at the same time and cut from one to other.
    Can imovie record from screen and camera at same time?
    If so is there a link to somewhere explaining how to do so?
    If not, what is the most efficient way to do so, without having to learn a whole complex program?
    Please advise asap.
    Very many thanks

    Alan and Anthony,
    Thanks for the quick responses. Unfortunately, there is no backup :(.
    I will ask if they get logged into the global zone, but one thing I forgot to mention is that this zone (as are all our non-global zones and the global zone also) are configured for ldap logins.
    Assuming that they can even try to login to the global zone, can they even see the directory structure in the non-global zone (sorry, I haven't worked with Zones much thus far) from the global zone?
    Also, if they can see the non-global zones directory structure, what should they then try?
    Also, I've been searching and I've seen some suggestions of running a "pkgcheck -af" which might restore the directory permissions to what the various packages expect. Assuming that they can get to the point that they can at least log into the zone, is that something that would work?
    I'm setting up a new test Solaris box now, with a zone, to try to reproduce the problem. If I can reproduce the problem, I'll post back whether or not I see the same thing.
    In the meantime, if anyone has any suggestions, please post them.
    Thanks,
    Jim
    P.S. In case you're wondering, the box/zone that got messed up was a test/integration zone, and they were in the process of installing some software when this chmod happened.

  • Capturing multiple video streams into a movie file

    I am using QTKit to capture 3 media streams simultaneously: audio, video, and display (display is screen capture), and would like to capture them in a time-synchronized fashion to a single .mov file.
    I have been able to successfully capture these three streams to 2 separate .mov files by using 2 QTCaptureSessions (one for audio/video, one for display video), but the problem here is that the 2 files are not time-synchronized (I have no idea how to synch them after the fact).
    The more intuitively correct thing to do is to use a single QTCaptureSession instance with 3 inputs (2 video inputs and one audio) to do the capture, which should automatically synch all the streams. Furthermore, since the .mov file can support an arbitary number of streams, I figured wiring up the QTCaptureSession to output to a single .mov file would be easy. I was wrong.
    The problem is that even though my QTCaptureSession has 3 nice input connections (2 video and 1 audio), when I wire up a QTCaptureMovieFileOutput to it, the resulting QTCaptureMovieFileOutput object has ONLY 2 connections: a single video and a single audio.
    Here is snippets of what I am doing:
    // add audio input: (type of media is QTMediaTypeAudio), succeeds
    [qtSession addInput:[QTCaptureDeviceInput deviceInputWithDevice: qtAudioDevice] error:&qtError]
    // add video input: (type of media is QTMediaTypeVideo), succeeds
    [qtSession addInput:[QTCaptureDeviceInput deviceInputWithDevice: qtVideoDevice] error:&qtError]
    // add display input: (type of media is QTMediaTypeVideo), succeeds
    [qtSession addInput:[QTCaptureDeviceInput deviceInputWithDevice: qtDisplayDevice] error:&qtError]
    // create file output
    QTCaptureMovieFileOutput * qtFile = [[QTCaptureMovieFileOutput alloc] init];
    [qtSession addOutput:qtFile error:&qtError];
    // PROBLEM: if I look at this array of connections, it has ONLY 2 connections
    // 1 video, 1 audio!!!
    NSArray *connections = [qtFile connections];
    // start capture running
    [qtSession startRunning];
    // wire up to my file
    [qtFileOutput recordToOutputFileURL:[NSURL fileURLWithPath:outputFileName]];
    I desperately need help....my questions:
    1. Since QTCaptureSession supports arbitary inputs, and QTMovie supports arbitrary # of streams, I can't believe it's not possible for me to simply "hook" all the inputs of QTCap to output connections that will write to streams in one movie file. Clearly, QTCaptureMovieFileOutput is not doing this...can anyone tell me how to do this? This can't be hard, right?
    2. If I have to fall back on the ridiculous approach of capturing 2 unsynchronized .mov files and somehow synching them after the fact, can anyone provide a pointer on how to do that?
    Thanks VERY much!

  • Multiple 0's displaying in Alert Monitor Screen SNC 5.1

    When I display the alert monitor in SNC 5.1 and select one of the alert types, they quantity fields are displaying multiple zero's after the number.  Has anyone seen this?

    Thanks to both of you for the speedy response. I have already seen that article, as well as 790397.1 - PROCESS J000 And M000 Die [ID 790397.1]. I'm just a little confused as to why Oracle is saying it's an out of memory condition when there's nothing in the log or trace files (other than the condition matches a couple of articles they have) that support the conclusion. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not an Oracle on Windows expert, most of my stuff revolves around Linux/UNIX and I avoid anything windows like the plague, other than starting a putty session.
    My understanding is that each process in a windows 32bit environment gets a 4GB Virtual Address Space, which is split into a lower 2GB application space and an upper 2GB kernel space. If the trace file is showing that only 1.6GB of physical memory has been consumed, wouldn't this indicate that there isn't a single process on the server that is even close to reaching it's 2GB limitation?

  • Adobe cirrus and multiple video streams

    Hello!
    Actually, I would like to know - is there a way from one machine to publish two or more video streams, creating the necessary number of connections and cells (with different qualities)?
    At the moment, this trick does not work, but I am using a developer key for multiplesimultaneous connections, with returns only the last published data stream.
    I would be very grateful for the clarification!

    That's actually exactly how I have it, I just added an extra option so you can, in theory, switch between the two versions on the fly.
    In the track viewer both video streams are the exact same length, the only issue is when I switch the video angles. I guess I could just erase the second video stream and avoid the problem altogether (don't want that showing up in my final school project now do I), but I really want to figure this out.

  • Multiple Video Streams not synced

    Long story short;
    I have a track with two video streams or angles. They are the exact same in terms of timecode down to the last frame (it's basically the same video but one stream has a color filter for visual effect).
    My problem is this: whenever I switch between the two videos, the second video is not synced with the audio. It seems to be a few seconds off, and I'm hoping to get this issue resolved. The first video stream is synced properly regardless, but it's just the second stream that isn't working properly.
    If it makes any difference, I'm using .m2v video format and only one audio stream. Anybody have any ideas?

  • Playback of Multiple Videos Simultaneously -- onCuePoint

    Hello AS3 Gurus!
    I have multiple instances of a video playback object (not an FLVPlayback component) on my stage (named "videoScreen1", "videoScreen2", etc...). I have separate NetConnections, NetStreams, and NetStatusEvent handlers set up for each of the video instances. Everything works fine (playback of each video in each instance happens as expected and the NetStatusEvent handlers fire off, as expected, for each of the video streams) except I cannot figure out how to separately keep track of the OnCuePoints events for each of the video streams.
    Right now, I have just one onCuePoint function that reacts to the cuepoint info for all the streams at once (with the following code). This misses some of the cuepoints since it seems that it gets a bit confused as to how to handle all the onCuePoint events that fire off from all of the video streams. What I would like is to have separate onCuePoint functions set-up that react to only one stream. That is, have one onCuePoint function react to the video streaming on my "videoScreen1" video object, another that is reacting to my "videoScreen2" video object, etc... How can I do this?
    function onCuePoint(cpInfo:Object):void {
         var key:String;
         for (key in cpInfo) {
             trace(key + ": " + cpInfo[key]);
    Or, should my question be: "What is the best way to handle the simultaneous playback of multiple video streams and keep track of onCuePoint (and onMetaData) events for each of the streaming videos?"
    Any input would, as always, be most appreciated.
    Regards,
    ropeGun

    Hi!
    I have had - and still seem to have the same problem. QuickTime 7 will start stuttering after the first change, ie. after the first movie. If you pause playback on and off, the current film will play perfectly - until the next change in the playlist. Then the problem reaccurs.
    I cured the situation by going back to QT 6.5.2, where everything works just fine... but you have to do without a lot of nice stuff that QT7 has.
    Also remember that QuickTime only supports a subset of SMIL, not all commands.

  • Multiple Video Cards for 3 Monitor Display

    I'm in the process of creating a large multiscreen presentation (3 screens). I need an application (will probably be authored in Director or Flash) to span all three screens. Each screen will have a resolution of 1280 x 720. I am looking into what the best solution is for this.
    One Quad head card?
    Two video cards, one dual head, one normal?
    Three video cards?
    I've heard with PCs that if you have multiple video cards, you can't run a fullscreen application across video cards. Does the same hold true for Macs?
    Any suggestions?

    I'm having a hard time figuring this out. It seems as though people on this forum have been playing games across all three monitors. However, I just went to the big glass Mac store in NYC and asked a few people at the "genius bar." The guy I talked to was very skeptical of running a fullscreen application across video cards. Another guy I talked to said it was application dependent. They had no MacPros with dual head cards, so I couldn't check its settings.
    If anyone can out genius the genius bar and give me a solid answer, I'd be greatly indebted. I'd like to get an answer before spending 5 grand on a system.

  • Multiple video displays

    Hi,
    I'm looking at different methods of sychronizing multiple
    videos accross multiple displays and wondered if the best way to do
    this would be via flash video of a media centre streaming to
    seperate machines and their displays, could anybody advise me on
    this.
    Thanks in Advance
    Jack

    With the new Mac Pro 2009-03 models, Quad-Core Intel Xeon.
    Is it possible to run eight Apple Cinema Display 30" monitors?
    Yes.
    This would require four single-slot Video Cards with two Dual-DVI outputs each.
    The default NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 512MB card has one Dual-DVI and one single DVI, so it would not do the job.
    No. It has one dual-link DVI port and one Mini DisplkayPort. With a Dual-Link Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter it can run two 30" displays.
    <http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A?fnode=MTY1NDA5OQ&mco=MjkyNjI0Mg>
    Likewise with the ATI Radeon HD 4870.
    It also can run two 30" displays when used with the adapter, but it uses too much power to use with three other cards.
    So what Video cards would be specified?
    Four NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 or ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT. You could also use three of these cards and one GeForce 8800GT. It has to be the one made for the 2008 Mac Pro (and is no longer being sold).
    Is this even possible?
    Yes.
    And is there enough power supply available for four such video cards?
    Yes. Apple sells (sold) systems with four of these cards.
    I understand the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT Graphics 256MB GDDR3 is not compatible with the new systems, and it only offers one Dual-DVI & one Single-DVI port.
    No and no. It is compatible, and has two dual-link DVI ports.

  • How can I display a VI running on NI-DAQ on a separate monitor

    I am using TPC-2215 and NI-9138. The VI running on the TPC communicates user inputs to the VI running on NI-9138. The VI running on NI-9138 generates a chart and displays it on the front panel in real time and I'd like to view the chart as its being generated. The problem is i cannot display the chart on the TPC because there is not enough room. I do not want to use scroll bars because the controls and chart have to be visible at all times.
    Is there a way I can display the chart, thats being generated on the NI-9138 VI, on a separate monitor?
    I tried connecting a monitor to the VGA port on NI-9138, but all that displays is CPU usage data, not the VI front panel.

    That tells me the 9138 is running LabVIEW RT.  I'm thinking you will have to use another TPC-2215 to display your graph.

  • Multiple Video Cards - 4 monitors

    I was wondering if there was anyone out there that has a successful installation of multiple video cards. i.e. 1 AGP with dual ports and a PCI with dual ports. I would like to run 4 22" monitors on a G4. Just want to know if there were any reccomendations on card brands/types and configurations
    Have multiple Mac's from G4 733 Giga to G4 Dual drive... Lil help

    I'd reccomend using all ATI cards as they are/were better supported as far as multiple cards and features are concerned. A decent set up would be an ATI radeon 9800pro AGP with an ATI radeon 9200 PCI. Both are dual head and for PCI the 9200 is pretty good.

    I just checked the release note of this firmware 1.0.01. Perhaps, you can try another browser for isolation before updating the router. That might be a browser problem (maybe not supported yet).

  • Display a video stream (successives images)

    Hello!
    Thanks for looking after my post.
    I try to display a video stream (successives images) in Java component.
    With a simple swing component, it's not possible to display 25 fps for a 640x480 resolution.
    With SWT, we arrive to display about 15 fps for a resolution 640x480 but the use of the CPU is very important.
    Do you know an efficient system to display video stream?
    Thanks.

    Firstly if you're loading images with Toolkit you'll nbeed to use MediaTracker (see the Javadoc for full and clear instructions).
    Secondly, be aware of how long it takes to load image data, allocate the memory for it, and decode it. This is where you're going to suffer and it's the fundamental flaw in the plan of simulating video by flipping single frames: it's highly unlikely you'll manage it quickly enough. As above, 50ms is quite optimistic.
    You could do your loading up-front and buffer a load of images - there are a few strategies you could use for this. But bear in mind that (a) this is going to be very memory hungry, and (b) if your image load time is greater than your frame display time you're always going to be fighting a losing battle. But it should work for very small animations.
    Run yourself some tests: write yourself a simple test class which just loads an image in its main() method using a MediaTracker. It'll tell you how long loading the image takes. Of course, if you're doing it in an applet then you've got all sorts of other factors to consider and the load times will be high.

  • Decompose multiple videos in single RTMP stream

    Hello,
    Our back-end developer is using GStreamer to stream videos, which are then translated from an RTSP stream to an RTMP stream via Wowza.  GStreamer is combining three videos and an audio track into a single stream with metadata about each video and the audio track.  At the moment, when the stream is opened, the three videos play overtop one another.  Is it possible to decompose the three videos into individual videos/streams and play them in three separate video players? (they will be controlled together, but need to appear in separate locations onscreen.  Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
