Multiple Web Galleries

Does anyone know how i can publish to a different .Mac account than my personal one. I have my own .Mac account which is the one that shows in iPhoto preferences. I created another .Mac account for work-related photos but cannot see how to select which gallery to upload to from iPhoto.
Any help is much appreciated.

RG:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. The easiest way would be to create another user account on your Mac for the work related galleries. Copy your iPhoto library to the Shared folder and then log into the other account, move the library from the Shared folder to your Pictures folder. Download and run BatChmod on the iPhoto Library folder with the settings shown here, putting your administrator login name, long or short, in the owner and group sections. You can either type in the path to the folder or just drag the folder into that field. This will make sure the library's ownership and permissions are properly configured for the new owner.
Then open the library and delete those photos that are not work related. Set the .Mac preferences in the System Preferences for the work related .Mac account. Now when you publish from the new account it will publish to the work .Mac account.
To facilitate quick changes of accounts you can turn on fast user switching in the Accounts section of System Preferences.
Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

    Bob,
Lightroom being a 64 bit application can run multiple threads for one task of uploading web galleries in a single collection.

  • Posting multiple Lightroom flash web galleries

I am trying to create multiple Lightroom galleries for my web
page, but i keep getting the same set of images in the different
galleries. I am using Frontpage 2003 and would like to know if there is
something I need to do to direct the hyperlinks to the different

This problem most likely wont happen when it is running off of a server.
So upload it to your server and test it, but it should be fine.

  • Multiple Libraries and Web Galleries

I just upgraded to iLife 08 and I'm wondering if the web gallery feature is compatible with the web galleries feature.
Here's my situation: I have several three primary iPhoto libraries: one of family pix, one of photos from Congo, related to my aunt and uncle's mission work (which I use for their website), and one related to the ministry of my husband's church. I have one .mac account.
If possible, I want to create web galleries using two of these iPhoto libraries, but I'm worried that when I "publish" galleries from the Congo library that the galleries I previously published from my family library will be erased from my iDisk. I searched the forums but I didn't find any discussion of this. Does anyone else have any experience in this regard?
    Thanks,
    kabing

Web galleries published from different libraries will not remove previously published galleries. Just make sure the gallery names are not the same.

  • Problems with Multiple Photo Galleries

Hey all, I am having issues with multiple photo galleries. The problem is, iWeb will randomly delete old photo libraries when new ones are made.
My workflow is each blog entry has its own Photo Library attached to it, so i really would love to be able to keep this functionality.
Does anyone have any clues as to why they are getting deleted? They literally just vanish from the entries in iWeb...
    Many thanks, Matt

Matt ~ Even without adding such complexity, many people have problems with their iWeb blog. So even if someone helps you to solve this problem, you may then be back with a different iWeb blog problem: Lost all your blog entries or all your comments or unable to publish, etc.
    mattperrott wrote:
Any thoughts on why this might happen?
The simple answer is that Apple's implementation of iWeb's blog appears to be buggy. Every day on these forums you'll likely see a couple of problems with iWeb's blog, often "solved" like this: +"I deleted my blog page, and was able to successfully publish the site"+. Also, if you ever have to re-publish everything (say, after upgrading iWeb) you'll wish you had a web-based blog.
    mattperrott wrote:
This isnt a problem currently but if i ever need to republish my entire site it is a potential killer, especially as it grows...
The person who posted the following thread had similar concerns saying: +"...I get the feeling when this gets bigger, it'll outgrow iWeb's capability."+ Read his solution here:
_To blog or not to blog_
And to link to an external blog from iWeb's navbar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (Actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).
By the way, rather than posting your URL in these forums like this:
    www.local-hero.com.au
...include the prefix to make it conveniently clickable:
    http://www.local-hero.com.au

  • Can't see web galleries in iweb

I've published multiple .mac web galleries but don't see any of them listed in the widget list in iweb. What am I missing, do I have to do something special to see them?
What's the best way to include my web galleries if I have a ton of them I want to list on my website?

It may not be a bug but a feature to not display any photos that are acutally in the gallery when announcing a protected gallery. I don't know. But you can report by using the iWeb->Provide iWeb Feedback menu option in iWeb.
If the gallery is password protected but your want a photo from the gallery to be in the link, add a small photo to the page, size it to a reasonable size and then link it to the web gallery. When visitors click on the photo link they will be taken to the gallery and have to put in a name and password before they can access it. You can email that info to them in a separate email.

  • Question about Web galleries

Yesterday I prepared a web gallery, exported it to a folder, and uploaded it by ftp to my web site with absolutely no difficulty. I was very impressed by the ease that this was accomplished. Very happy with results. However, I'm not a web developer, and now I'm wondering how I can put multiple galleries connected from a main page. I know that I can build galleries with links in iWeb, but here's my issue. Suppose I put several web galleries, each in it's own folder, on my site, and then I want to link to each of those folders. How do I link to the index.html file in each folder? Can I do that in iWeb?

Yes - you can create a link anywhere in iWeb that points to http://www.dougwigton.com/index.html, and visitors will be able to go to your gallery - so you can make a central page to direct them to each of your galleries.
What you will not get though is the iWeb menu in any of your galleries, so it will be a little hard for people to make thier way back to the iWeb portion of your site.

  • Web Galleries and overall image migration

    Hey all,
I've got a question regarding the MobileMe web galleries. I'm pretty sure that you can create them in three places; Aperture, iPhoto and iWeb. So my question is kind of relating to two methods of creating and collaborating web galleries.
Say that you've created a web gallery in iPhoto in a pinch but use Aperture primarily. Now you're on Aperture and want to continue to update that gallery. Is there a way to migrate that gallery from iPhoto to Aperture. Or, and this is my situation more specifically, say you're on vacation and create an Aperture based web gallery on your Macbook. Now you're back home and want to continue using and updating that web gallery but are now on the Mac Pro. Can that gallery be migrated from the Aperture database on the Macbook over to the database on the Mac Pro?
To that point, how about image alterations and settings. I've captured some 1200 photos while on vacation, tooled around with them on my Macbook while away making color adjustments, adding vignettes and general improvements. Is there any way to then migrate those albums and/or settings over to the other database in the other system? Seems a shame to have to do all that leg work all over again. Perhaps it's just a matter of grabbing album folders from the database package and bringing them into the other database package?

"Migrating" your photos, albums, adjustments, etc. is a piece of cake. Just export the project/s using file export project from your laptop and use file import project on your desktop. Move or share the .approj file from your laptop to desktop in the way you are most comfortable with.

As for web galleries - can't answer that one with detail because I find them uselessly frustratingly unexplainably notoriously unreliable and I hate that you have no control over color profile for downloadable images. So I don't use them now after playing with them for a bit.

  • Mobile Me Web Galleries Mass Uploading

I'd like to upload many of my Events as separate web galleries onto MobileMe. However, it appears I have to individually click the event, click MobileMe, wait for the Publish box to come up, then click Publish, at which point, it goes to that MobileMe album, so I have to go back to Events.
Is there a simple way to select a group of Events and have it make them separate MobileMe Web Gallery Events (same content as original Events) in one fell swoop?

No. You might be able to create an Automator workflow for that or write an Applescript to do multiple ablums in succession.. Since the process can be so very CPU and resource intensive it might not be a good idea. Send a feature request: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html

  • Frustrated with web galleries

I think I'm about ready to install Gallery on my website and forget about LR's web galleries. I want such simple changes to the defaults, but it seems to be impossible.
I want HTML galleries, not flash. The HTML galleries have the "title" on top and the "description" below the pictures. I thought I could live with this, but I use this as a title and more info. My own eyes were hopping back and forth from top to bottom. That is just unacceptable. The flash galleries, however, have the two together, not separated by the picture.
Forgetting about LR's galleries would also allow me not to have my various metadata fields all mushed together. LR allows you to select multiple items to put into the "description", but no way to format them. Yes, I can put commas, but there are often empty fields, and then it's a mess.
I don't like the font sizes either, but I can fix that by changing one .css file after creating the gallery.
I tried to take the xslt and and xml files extracted from the module, but more files are needed and I don't know which or exactly how to configure them. Even more frustrating because I have found the lines that need to be moved/modified.
I've found descriptions for starting from scratch and other people's flash galleries, but not how to twiddle with the existing galleries. Such small changes I want to do!

Me too. I'm taking a different approach to things, though. Rather than
creating a gallery that produces lots and lots of identical pages, each
containing different images and indexes and so on, I'm working on a gallery
that doesn't produce any HTML at all (or, rather, produces very basic HTML
so I can see the images in the Web Gallery Preview). Instead, I just let it
produces the XML file describing the images and (of course) the image files
themselves (in three sizes: thumbnail, display, and full). I've written a
JSP-based application that can read the XML file and produce the appropriate
pages (that is, I'm treating the XML and image files as a database).
The benefit of this is that if I want to change how my site looks or
behaves, I simply change the JSP and *all* of my galleries change
instantly - I don't have to go back and regenerate them. This also frees me
up to use any technology I want to for the display (right now it's HTML,
since I despise Flash, but if a new tech comes along, I can easily adopt
    it).
The downside is that I can only put my site on a JSP-capable server. Most
people don't have access to those (because most ISP's only provide straight
HTML and maybe a few canned scripts), but anyone who can put JSP on their
site could probably use this. In fact, I imagine a similar system could be
written in PHP (perhaps that's what Gallery is - I've only glanced at it),
ASP/.NET, CGI, or any other server-side language.
If anyone is interested in learning more about this, I'd be glad to
open-source it when it's ready (or share ahead of time if you're willing to
take an unfinished project). I don't get to the forums as much as I'd like,
so email me: my first name AT my last name with an "s" on the end DOT com

  • Versions and Web galleries

When creating a web gallery I have noticed that only the pick of the stack is able to be published to the web page. What do you have to do to get multiple versions on a page for viewing. Can you split the version set like you do with stacks and then send each image to the web gallery. The whole point of versions to me is to present variations to your clients (color, crop, B+W, etc) so they can select the best one. If you can't publish this to web that's pretty weak.
    Thanks for the help.

the versions act like stacks ... you can split them at will ...
and yes web galleries only take the pick of the stack ...
at first i too was troubled by this, however i have adapted and am now quite pleased that it does this, as it allows me to play around with images and only have my pick show ... if i want multiple versions, i just extract from stack ...

  • Web Galleries: retrieving and transferring settings / content

I use multiple LR databases to manage different websites. For each one, I use a few standard Web Gallery templates to create different pages for photos with different themes. When I first created the pages, I entered different information on each page for the Collection Title, Description, etc. I noticed that LR somehow remembered what that information was, pulling up the correct data when I go back later to recreate the web page from the original set of photos! How does it do that? Clearly, this is not part of the image metadata or the Web Gallery template; it seems to be stored elsewhere.
Unfortunately, the settings do not transfer when exporting the image folder as a catalog. I would like to be able to duplicate them on another LR database. How can I retrieve and transfer these? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Peter

  • Web galleries: how to export the image list only?

    Hi there.
I use Lightroom 5 for managing my web galleries, but I have my own software to run them. My workflow is this:
I use "Publish to folder" to generate the needed JPEG images, and I use another software to sync them to my server
I use the "Web Gallery" feature only to define the list and the order of photos in each gallery
I use the "Export..." feature in Web Gallery to get the .XML file with the list of photos - this file can be directly read by my software
The problem is that "Export..." also generates the images for the gallery, and after the XML has been generated I have to stop this task manually - it's an annoyance. Furthermore, it would be nice if I could export all my galleries in a single step, with multiple files generated, one per gallery.
I don't need anything else other than the image file name: the metadata are extracted from JPEGs. All file formats would be ok (XML, TXT, JSON, whatever).
    Thanks.

Lr doesn't support the workflow you describe. So, best option is to do a Google serarch for third party web galleries/plugins to see if any of them do.
