Multiple website, one MobileMe account

OK, so I have created a webiste already and it is located on a domain name that I bought from GoDaddy.
I have just purchased ANOTHER domain name and want to create another website with that domain using iWeb '08.
How do I do that?

Only one site can use the CNAME forwarding method with a MMe account. All subsequent sites must use the standard domain name forwarding (and masking if desired) method. This screenshot shows how to set it up with GoDaddy:
If you opt of the masking all pages will display just the domain name and visitors will only be able to bookmark the first or entry page of the site.

  • Two iPhoto libraries sharing one mobileme account

    Hi,
I use my macbook pro as my main iPhoto library where I download photos off my camera, use events, create folders and publish to my mobileme gallery. I then have a old iMac that I use as a media centre where its iPhoto library subscribes to each mobileme gallery using the RSS feeds and pushes those photos out to my Apple TV. That all works a treat.
The problem I have though is that both machines use the one mobileme account (so things like urls, dock icons etc are synchronised) which means that the iMac iPhoto library displays all the mobileme galleries (published from my MacBook Pro) and downloads all the photos. this essentially doubles the size of the iPhoto library.
Is there a way where I can turn off the retrieving of mobileme galleries on my iMac so that the only photos I get is via the RSS feeds?
    Hope someone can help
    Stewart

I have a similar issue, and hope someone can help.
I have two MacBooks, each has iPhoto. I do not want all the albums on the molible me account to be on both machines. Can I set something so only albums I want are scyned??

  • I bought 2 domain names:   Can they work on one MobileMe account?

    Hello
    My main domain is: http://www.greenpointcity.com
which i bought last year and my site is up and running. All is well.
Now i bought 2 more domain names:
    nammbuzz.com
    nambuzz.com
Can they work on one MobileMe account?
I want both these domain names to link up to a specific page on my greenpointcity.com site and its not working.
    The specific page, URL is:
    http://www.greenpointcity.com/GreenPointCity/NammBuzz/NammBuzz.html
I keep getting an i-disk password message. When i enter:
    nammbuzz.com
    nambuzz.com
    in the browser
I did everything Go-daddy told me to do. Still no luck.
In my MobileMe account my Domain is set to: "greenpointcity.com"

Now i bought 2 more domain names:
    nammbuzz.com
    nambuzz.com
Can they work on one MobileMe account?
Only if you point them using URL Forwarding.
    http://www.greenpointcity.com/GreenPointCity/NammBuzz/NammBuzz.html
In the form for URL Forwarding, try typing in http://web.me.com/username/GreenPointCity/NammBuzz/NammBuzz.html
(putting in your own username of course).

  • Multiple websites one domain

Ok I've split my website into 2 separate websites as it was getting a little large.
    I host on mobile me.
Now I need to get the new one listed in Google and get some analytics into it and get it listed in webmaster tools.
I tried adding it to webmaster tools - which worked but no verification required ???
Now I'm trying to do google analytics and I need to decide if it is multiple domains etc etc...
I'm a bit confused about this
If I select multiple subdomains do I need to redo the analytics code on the first website?
Would I be better off with another domain name?

There are some problems with having multiple sites from multiple domain.sites files and multiple purchased domain names.
Multiple Sites with Domain Name(s) in a Single MobileMe Account
Here's how to have multiple sites in a single MMe account with one or more sites having a domain name.
    A. All sites are in the same Domain.sites2 files
1 - only one site can use the CNAME method of domain name forwarding and it must the top site in the left hand pane of iWeb.
2 - the other sites must use URL domain name forwarding which directs the domain name to the site's full MMe URL, http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/SiteName, or, if there is no domain name, just MobileMe's full URL.
    B. Each site is in its own Domain.sites2 file.
Again, only one site can use CNAME forwarding. This presents a problem since CNAME forwarding directs the domain name to the basic MMe account URL: http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/ which uses an index.html file in the root folder of the account, iDisk/Web/Sites. Each time a new site is published or an existing site uses the File->Publish Entire Site a new index.html file is created in that root directory, iDisk/Web/Sites folder, directing the browser to that particular site. This file is what the CNAME method uses to find the site it represents.
Therefore some steps must be taken to assure that the index.html file in the MMe Accounts root directory always points to the correct site. This can be accomplished is three ways.
1 - don't use the CNAME method. Just use URL forwarding . This, IMO, is the simplest method as it doesn't requre any additional effort on the user once the domain name has been set up.
2 - use the following method suggested by Wyodor in this topic: Is it possible to have multiple sites when using ur Domain name?
    In iWeb domainfile 1:
Create a dummy site : _dummy
    with a blank page.
Create your working site : Whatever
    Add pages
Publish both Sites to the same same location on the same server.
Your _dummy site is now the default Site.
    Check.
    In iWeb domainfile 2:
    Create/Use your CurrentSite.
Move a page to the top of the Site and back. Publish the Site.
iWeb will create a new index.html file in the root of the server and from now on CurrentSite is the default site.
    Check.
From now on, never move your Whatever Site to the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar and never change the page in the _dummy site.
Simply do not touch your _dummy ever again. And never forget that.
3 - use Ethmoid's suggested method in Using two sites - setting one up with separate domain? or republishing the entire site that uses CNAME forwarding. Just making a minor change and publishing the site changes does not create a new index.html file.
The entire site must be republsihing in order to get that new site.
Or keep a copy of the CNAME site's index.html file on your Mac and replace it manually in the iDisk/Web/Sites fodler when necessary.
NOTE: the CNAME method provides a shorter URL: http://www.DomainName.com/Site_Name/PageName. CNAME does not have masking.
The URL forwarding displays the full MMe URL:
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/Domain_Name/PageName.
With domain name masking that will be shortened to:
http://www.Domain_Name.com for every page of your site.
However, with masking visitors will only be able to bookmark and enter at the first page of the site. If a page is refreshed the visitor is taken back to the first page. Also search engines will only be able to index the first page of the site.

  • Publish separate sites to one MobileMe account?

I manage several sites from my laptop, which runs iWeb '08. I have just started using iWeb '09 on my desktop at work, and absolutely love it - not to mention that my work computer doesn't freeze up whenever I try to work on complicated sites. I would like to publish the sites I'm working on at work to my MobileMe account, which my other iWeb '08 sites are published on. If the sites have different names, will that be a problem? Or if I publish will it only put up the sites from my work computer and delete everything else? This is terribly confusing. I would like to keep everything up until replacement sites are made, and this would solve my problem so immensely! Any input you have would be huge!

Perhaps I was not clear in my first post...
I have one MobileMe (.mac) account, which I currently have five sites hosted on. These sites were built in iWeb '08. I have had no problems with hosting multiple sites on MobileMe, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say that this is not possible.
I have built a sixth site in iWeb '09 on a different computer than my other five sites are built/stored on. I would like to publish this site to my MobileMe account as well - just add it to the roster, if you like. It has a different name than my other sites, so presumably if I sign into my MobileMe account on that computer, it would publish the site alongside the others, correct? I just don't want to publish this new site and for some reason have it delete the other five sites already being hosted.

  • Two Websites / One MobileMe?

Is this a feature or an oversight?
I have a MobileMe account, my first website made without iWeb is on the 'homepage.mac.com' domain (corresponding to the iDisk 'Sites' directory)
However, when creating a new web design in iWeb it gets published to the 'web.me.com' domain (corresponding to the iDisk 'Web/Sites' directory)
Are there any advantages/disadvantages to using one or the other?

It's not an oversight — that's the way it works. See this Apple doc:
_Using iWeb with your HomePage sites_
...and this doc about .Mac HomePage web app being discontinued:

Unlike a site published to the Sites directory, a site published to the iDisk 'Web/Sites' directory can be set up to accept a re-directed domain name via CNAME — see this Apple doc:
iWeb: Using your own domain name
I believe sites published to the Sites directory can only accept simple web-forwarding or web-forwarding with masking.
You can also publish a site made with another web design application:

  • Two macs -- one iTunes account -- one mobileme account

ok, so i hope i can get my question across correctly. thanks in advance for those of you that help. i have a macbook pro, along with an iPhone and an iPad. my husband has an iMac and an iPad. we both want to be able to use the same iTunes account but we both want to be able to sync our iPad's & iPhone to our own computers. we both also want to sync in mobileme. my questions:
    1. how do we sync both computers to one iTunes account?
    2. do we both need to have a separate mobileme account?

This might be just the place to post my question.
First, I'm on Windows Vista ... not a mac ... and I do not own MobleMe ... wondering if someone has suggestios for me concernign sharing an iTunes account between me and my wife.
Currently, my wife and I have separate Windows Logons ... and we each have our own respective iTunes account.   She syncs her iTunes with her iPhone, and I sync my iTunes with my iPad and iPhone.
I'm interesting in merging our separate iTunes accounts into one for the purpose of not having to purchase duplicate apps that we each will be wanting in the future.  (She doesn't know it yet, but she's going to get her own iPad for a surprise present.)
Looks like we are going to repurchase all her paid apps and place those into my account ... (she has fewer paid apps than I have, and that seems to be the least expensive way to start off.)
    So... Here's my question:
Is it better to have her sign off permantly from her installed iTunes Account, and sign back on as "me" ... then download all the apps I have already bought that she wants?   ( I.e.  have two separate iTunes installations - both using the same login ID and password ... but personally configured to our liking).
    ... OR ...
Is it better to delete her installation of her iTunes Account and just start using mine ... again configured to her liking by checking which apps should install her her devices and which should be installed to my devices?
    =============
Right now, she has her own music and I have mine ...
I'm open to any suggestions about PROs and CONs of each method ...
    Thanks for sharing

  • How to transfer an iWeb site from one MobileMe account to another.

I am creating an iWeb site for a friend. I am doing this using my mac and my MobileMe account. I understand that the iWeb site assets are all stored in my MobileMe iDisk. I want to take the finished site and transfer it to my friends computer and his MobileMe iDisk so he can manage it from there. How do I do this.

If you have your friends MobileMe login details, then you can publish the site to his MMe account directly from your Mac. Go to System Preferences and log out of your MMe account and then into his and then go back to iWeb and then publish the site directly to his MMe account.
As far as giving him the ability to manage the sites, just give him the relevant domain file for the site. Go to User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites and find the domain file and then you can e-mail it to his Mac and he can then put the domain file in the same place on his Mac.
Whatever you do, don't publish the site to your desktop - you won't be able to do anything with it. It is the domain file that you need if your friend wants to manage and alter the site in any way.

  • Two iPhones, One MobileMe Account?

I think I know the answer to this, but I'd like verification before I plunk down the cash...
I've had an iPhone for a while now, and I've been a .mac subscriber pretty much since that was launched.
My wife just got her iPhone yesterday. She has her bookmarks, contacts, etc. I have mine. If she syncs to MobileMe via my account, the two separate data sets (bookmarks, contacts, and calendars) become merged, right?
The only way to keep her data and my data separate is to upgrade to the family plan for MobileMe, right?
    Thanks,
    cnsayre

Correct you need 2 MobileMe accounts, a family setup will be fine.

  • Multiple Sites, Multiple Domains, one .mac account?

So, is this possible? Can you create multiple sites in iWeb, save them to a .mac account, and then purchase domain names for each of those sites and have one assigned to each? I'm assuming no, but I'm seeing if someone knows how or someone has some workaround to keep it on .mac, but have multiple domain names for my sites?
    Thanks!!

    So, is this possible?
    No.
Can you create multiple sites in iWeb, save them to a .mac account, and then purchase domain names for each of those sites and have one assigned to each?
Yes and no. While .Mac does offer Domain name hosting in the form of a CNAME alias, only one Domain name is available per .Mac account. .Mac is not a registrar for multiple Domains. You can host multiple sites on your .Mac account, but if you desire a 'Domain name' for each site, you will need to purchase the Domains from a registrar like Yahoo, GoDaddy, 1&1, etc, and then forward these Domains to the appropriate sites, hosted on your .Mac account.
I'm assuming no, but I'm seeing if someone knows how or someone has some workaround to keep it on .mac, but have multiple domain names for my sites?
The "workaround" would be to utilize Domain forwarding from a Domain name registrar, using the .Mac urls for the forwarding address(es).

  • 2 different websites - 1 MobileMe account - any hitches to look for?

    Hi,
I have a website created on iWeb published through MobileMe.
I see I can create a second website on iWeb, but how can I ensure it will have a different web address (also on mobileme)?
I have read somewhere - that to keep the files of these two websites separate, I should create the 2nd website under a different User Account on my Mac. Is this necessary?
Thanks in advance for your attention.

how can I ensure it will have a different web address (also on mobileme)?
Every site always has its own address.
    web.me.com/username/sitename1
    web.me.com/username/sitename2
The topmost site can also be reach via just web.me.com/username

  • 2 macs 2 websites one dotmac account

I currently have a website being published to my dotmac account via my home computer.
I would like to start a separate website from my laptop, but publish to the same dotmac accounts.
Will these sites coexist, or will one remove the other?

    Robert,
You can publish as many websites to your .Mac account, from as many different machines as you like, and they will not overwrite one another unless they are named exactly the same.
Just be sure to give your sites their own unique names. They will coexist on the server with no problem whatsoever, regardless of the machine that placed them there.
