Multiple wireless AP controllers

We have a wireless 4402 controller in production.  We would like to have a wireless 5508 controller on the same network using different APs for now. We would also use different SSIDs until the new equipment has proven to be reliable.  Is this possible?
Microsoft DHCP is used to assign IPs to the access points currently.

Hi
What version of code running on your 4402 & what version are you planning to put on 5508 ?
Yes it is possible to advertise a SSID on selected APs using AP-Groups. 5508 should be much more reliable than 4402 (its all about software code running on these hardware).
If you want roaming between 4402 managed AP & 5508 managed AP then you have to put these two wlc in to same mobility group and prefer to configure same RF group.
When it comes to RF group 7.4.x or 7.6.x RRM is not compatible with anything below 7.2. Since you 4402 cannot have any thing above 7.0.x  You cannot put both WLC in same RF group (assuming you run a latest code like 7.4 or 7.6 on your 5508).

  • Multiple wireless speaker system?

    Greetings,
I own a retail store (1200 sq/ft) and would like to setup a wireless speaker system.  What I envision is the ability to stream (iTunes or Pandora, etc) from an iMac to multiple wireless speakers (4-6) throughout the store.  Questions I have;  Is this possible?  If so how is it configured, through Bluetooth, Airplay, Airport?  Any advice on good quality speakers that can accomplish this task is also greatly appreciated.  I am trying to take advantage of my Mac network of iMacs, iphone, ipad without going to a standard in-wall/ceiling receiver system.  Many thanks for the advice!!!

Ok cool so its doable and I was also reading about Airfoil for Pandora and the like.  Next question is about the speakers.  I have done quite a bit of searching but it does not appear that one can purchase Airplay ready 7.1 surround system, true?  Basically what I would like is to position 4-6 smaller bookshelf like speakers around the store.  What Im not interested in is one single standalone speaker.  I want the sound volume to be even throughout the store rather than a booming focal point.  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

  • Multiple Wireless Mighty Mouses Near Each Other

Can there be multiple wireless mouses close to each other without affecting the other computer?

I do not have two MMs, but I have used my MM along with my Logitech MX900 BT mouse with no problems.
As the other poster noted, they each get paired separately.
Also once an MM or other BT mouse is paired with a machine, it will require re-paring with another machine if you chose to use the mouse with the other machine. At least that is my experience - a mouse can only be paired with one computer at a time. But there is no limit, AFAIK, to the number of mice you can use on a single computer.

  • Voice over IP Roaming problems between 2 Wireless Lan Controllers.

    Hello,
we have problems with Voice over IP roaming between 2 Wireless Lan Controllers, this problem is not always happening. I have attached the detailed configuration. We are using LWAPP 1242 & WLC 2106 Controllers.
The phones they are using are Siemens Enterprise optiPoint WL2.
Is there maybe something wrong with the configuration our can I try some different settings?

When a wireless client associates and authenticates to a WLC, it places an entry for that client in its client database. This entry includes the MAC and IP addresses of the client, security context and associations, quality of service (QoS) contexts, the WLAN, and the associated LAP. When a client roams to another LAP associated to the same WLC, it just updates the client database with the new LAP information so that the data can be forwarded appropriately to the client. When a client roams to a LAP associated with a different WLC, either in same or different subnets, it sends the information in the client database to the new WLC. This helps client to retain its IP address across roams and maintain uninterrupted TCP sessions. For more information on roaming in the WLC environment.

  • Is there a way for use airplay on multiple wireless speakers (PartyMode)?

is there a way for iPod/iPad/iPhone to use airplay speakers in multiple wireless speakers zones (like PartyMode)?
    (PartyMode)
on your Computer or Laptop you can shoose in iTunes different speakers zones at the same time.
But this is not possible on a iPod/iPad/iPhone. one ly one speaker zone is possible.
is there a any way to do it the same way as in iTunes on your computer ? ?

The Music/iPod app on iOS devices do NOT support "multiple speaker" option.
As a work around, you can download and install Remote app and setup with iTunes Home Sharing and you can control your iTunes music using your iOS device (iPod touch/iPad/iPhone) to play music to multiple speakers.

I would like to use multiple wireless keyborads on my Imac.  One keyboard is set up as a qwerty board and the other is set up as a Protools borad.  Is there anyway of switching back and forth without having to re-pair my setup work station every time I switch function?

Hi,  depends how much you want to spend.  I use Anime Studio Pro.  Anime products are purchased through SmithMicro.com.  They carry several different animation softwares.  For around $50 you can get Anime Studio Debut 8.  I've never used the debut products because I knew it was someting I really would get hooked on, so I went bigger and got the Pro because you can do much more with it.  So, it's possible that once you start creating, you'll may also get hooked and want to do more.  I have used Anime Studio for years and love it!  Here is a link to their store if you are interested:
    http://store.smithmicro.com/searchimageviewdetail.aspx?searchText=anime%20studio.
Just copy and paste it in your browser.  I found that the software is pretty easy to use and learn.
    Hope this helps.

  • Memory on Wireless Lan Controllers

Does anyone know anything about the wireless lan controllers regarding flash memory?
    I have found a command:
    show memory statistics
It gives you the total DRAM in the device.
I'm looking for the size of the FLASH memory device in the WLC controller.

    Nevermind....
show sysinfo gives me the output desired.

  • Centrally manaaging multiple Moto/Zebra Controllers

I am assisting my network engineer in centrally managing multiple Moto/Zebra controllers. For example, we want to manage 3 RFS6000 controllers using a RFS7000. We are using Wing 5.7.2.0. I can get the RFS6000 to be adopted by the RFS7000 but it adopts under the "default" RF Domain for the RFS7000. Is there any way we can have the RFS7k adopt the RFS6k while keeping the RF Domain from the RFS6k and all of it's configurations? Mind you, I am still in the learning process so forgive me if I ask too many questions.

  • Multiple wireless routers with Macintosh OSX - Does not work

I work for Spokane Public Library system as an IT Specialist. At all of our branches, we use multiple WRT54G wireless devices to serve our patrons. We are having notable trouble with Macintosh clients who can get connected to the wireless network but cannot obtain a DHCP address and thus cannot surf the web. We have the WRT54G devices configured with unique SSID's and no wireless protection; basically an open network.
Will having both of the WRT54G's set to the same channel pose a problem? Do Macs on OSX have an issue with the Linksys implementation of DHCP that you know of?
We have verified this problem at all branches; including the use of my laptop which is a MacBook Pro running OSX 10.4.10.
There are other posts on this forum with similar issues and no responses.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

YES! My own resolution... It turns out that it WAS A LINKSYS COMPATIBILITY ISSUE. Updating the WRT54G firmware to version 1.02.2 made it all work great. There was a fix for DHCP in the 1.02.2 version.
This is for both version 5 and 6 of the WRT54G.
    Woot!

  • Multiple wireless speakers

Can I connect multiple sets of wireless speakers to 1 Airport Express or do I have to have a Airport express for every pair of wireless speakers?

You have to connect an audio cable from the audio port on the AirPort Express to something like an amplifier or powered speaker setup.
How were you planning to connect the speakers to an amplifier or receiver?

  • Tuning multiple interrelated PID controllers

    Hi,
I am attempting to control forces with pneumatic pistons and regulators. Feedback comes from a 6 degree of freedom load cell. I already have a program designed with PID controllers which works ok. The trouble is tuning the parameters.
So far, I have used Ziegler-Nichols for each single parameter, by testing each piston/PID element individually. Then I have adjusted these manually to make them work together. This means a lot of trial and error, often with unsuccessful results.
Is there any way to tune these parameters and account for the interdependence between them all at the same time?
    To clarify the situation:
I am controlling 5 degrees of freedom (Fy is constrained). I am using 7 pistons, and 12 PID controllers - since several pistons affect multiple degrees of freedom.
I can give more detailed information, but I am most interested in suggestions about tuning methods.
    Richard Godley

    your project seems very interresting.
however, i do not understand how you use your PID modules. what do they control? is it just force or also position of your load. what is the feedback input itself?
in general, when having several degree of freedom, try and locate the element (in this case piston) that most sensitively and effectively affect each separate degree. with that, the other pistons should just try and keep their own degree of freedom locked. this lead to automatic self regulation, where each piston has its own tuned PID.
one other way of doing it, is by using a minimalisation routine, which would set your feedback parameters relative to your input. do that for several desired inputs, and you should get then an array of tuning parameters for each input vaule. you can then create a tuning function for each PID, which will work on whole range of inputs.
also: try to use only one PID per piston. otherwise they work against each other.
if you would detail the system, we may have better ideas.

  • Multiple Wireless Controller 5508 in WCS 7.0

I have two Wireless Controller 5508 that are IDENTICAL in configurations and they will work as an ACTIVE/STANDBY scenario because right now we only have 30 APs, which one of the controller should be fine dealing with them...
Now, the way we used to work was everytime we had to add a new WLAN, or change an ACL, etc..we had to both controllers and do the exact same things, so both would be ready in case of a failure of the MAIN controller....so in order to avoid this extra work, we bought the WCS 7.0, thinking we would only have to do it once, and the WCS would update both WLC...but I cant find that option..Ive read all the configuration guide, and cant find a way to keep this two controller completaly sync......I read something about templates..but I still have to do "extra" work in order to keep them sync..
How do you guys keep your WLC sync??
    THanks!

Carlos, make sure you also look at config groups. When you place a template into a config group and if you enable the background task for nightly configuration audits you do get a tally of which controllers are "in sync" and which ones are not. Cisco does not automatically apply any configurations from WCS/NCS to controllers, nor would I ever want them to in all honesty.
NCS is a nice product and has a lot in the roadmap that will hopefully add more value to having your switches loaded. I can see in the future being able to have port templates for voice, data, etc, and then applying those to switch ports at a help desk tech level, they don't need to know how to configure the port, they just need to select a port and then a template.

  • WAP4410 Multiple Wireless Networks

I am wondering if I can make our WAP4410 fall under two ip address ranges. I want to have a network for the office users and one for the guest users. We currently use a Safe@Office500WP Checkpoint router. It allows us to create multiple network ranges. We have the office users wireless under 192.168.0.1 ip range and the Guest Wireless is under the 192.168.200.1 range. Do I need two access points or can this be done with just the one?
    Thank you

Wow Christa great question. We see more and more people are trying to do this and this gives me a great chance to explain how to do this. If you already have a WAP4410N, its really easy and you will only need one to do it.
Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center. Below are the steps in bullet form. I have also attached a doc with pictures as well:
    Adding Guest Access using WRVS4400N
Do the initial setup and get the Main network up and running, just as you would if you were not going to have a Guest Access. Now start the process of adding the Guest Account. First go to Wireless – Basic Settings and add your second SSID, then click save.
Now go to Wireless – Security Settings and with the first SSID enable the two Wireless Isolations.
Do the same for the second SSID. Also add whatever security mode you want.
Go to L2 Switch and create the Guest VLAN. Put a number in for VLAN ID and click Add VLAN.
Go to Wireless – VLAN & QOS. Enable VLAN and change GUEST Vlan to the VLAN ID # you created earlier.
Go to Setup – Advanced Routing and Disable Inter-VLAN Routing.
Go to Setup LAN. VLAN 1 should show the setting from your initial setup.
Change VLAN to VLAN 2 and make sure the DHCP is enabled. This will supply DHCP only to the Guest SSID.
This should set you up just like you were asking for, with a Guest Access with Main network using DHCP Server and the devices on the Guest Network unable to access the Main Network.
Please let me know how this goes.

  • Wireless LAN Controllers

    Hello --
Do I need Cisco switches to use the controllers? Also, with multiple sites, do I need one controller at each site, then can I use WCS to manage them from a central location?
    Thanks,
    Ohamien

    Ohamien,
You do not "need" to use Cisco switches to connect to the controllers, but it is always recommended =). As for remote sites, it would depend on how many AP's you would need per site. If you need less than 5 you could do HREAP with local switching, but if you needed more than that you would need to get a controller for that site, and then you could use WCS to manage all the controllers.
