Multiple WLANs & DSL connection

Has anyone had any experience with configuring multiple WLANs feeding into a single DSL connection?
I need to set up WLANs in 4 separate rooms that each have single cable back to a switch and a DSL connection.
The idea is that each room will be stand-alone as far as the WLAN is concerned and when they need Internet access they plug into the Ethernet port in the wall which is cabled back to the switch and DSL.
Each room will have a 4-port wireless router with DHCP server configured (the 4-ports are for those without wireless). Initially security won't be an issue but we realise that VLANs will probably be required down the track and a managed level-2 or 3 switch will be required. For now we are happy to just use separate wireless routers with minimum security.
I am assuming something like a WRT54G will do the job but how to configure the WLANs? Different SSIDs and channels? Could we use different networks (eg 192.168.1.x and 10.0.0.x) and then would we need to bridge them etc?
K

Hi .. you can definitely configure the routers in the way you have described. You will have to set up different ssid and channel on each router in each room. Also you have to use different networks.Say eg 192.168.1.1 on the 1st router and 192.168.2.1 on the 2nd router and so on.

  • Multiple WLAN connections

Does anyone know of a way to get my PODCAST and Email applications to use multiple WLAN connections?
I spend most of my day in one of two places, each with a different WLAN, and I'd the phone to have the sense to change WLAN connection as they become available.
    Thanks for your time.

Depends, on what your phone is.
If you're using an N97 or a 5800, or anything running on s60v5 for that matter, Go to Menu>Settings>Connectivity>Wireless LAN>Options>Settings>Show WLAN availability. Then you can also set how often it will set to scan for WLAN connections. This would allow the phone to scan for WLAN hotspots around you immediately. Be warned however that this will drain your battery faster.
On an s60v3 phone, I am not very familiar but from what I know its in Menu>Tools>Connectivity>Wireless LAN>Options>Settings>Show WLAn availability.

  • Can the time capsule works without WLAN cable connected to my DSL router?

Cna the Time capsule work without WLAN cable connection to DSL router?

WLAN is usually used for wireless LAN .. plainly you mean WAN port ..
How do you expect to get internet if the TC is not connected to the internet?
The TC can work stand alone.. true enough but that will then involve considerable issues in setting up two different IP addressing regimes .. you can just bridge the TC and use it as WAP and switch plus hdd without having to route.

  • Multiple DSL Connection

Hi folks. Hopefully someone has a solution for me.
A client of mine has a single DSL line and it isn't fast enough for his needs. So I thought of using a solution like back when the bound ISDN lines were used together to create a faster pipe.
How can I get faster speeds by using multi-channel DSL? Any routers out there that have this built in?
    Cheers

A true bonded dsl connection also requires the ISP to bond the 2 lines at their end also.
Load balancing does not join 2 dsl connection to 1 fat pipe it just share the load as the name suggests.

  • Connecting 2 RV042 to different subnet and DSL connections

Small office, 2 RV042, 2 DSL connections. 1 is used striclty for the business side, and the other is for our CCTV network. They also have seperate DSL connections as we have 2 external IP address for clients to connect remotely. We don't want to take away our exisring setup, but would like to bridge both networks so a few of our internal clients can connect to our CCTV network and use some of the devices. Right now they come in on VPN but its not as fast.
Is this doable without adding additional hardware? Both networks need DHCP enable as well.
    Breakdown:
    DSL 1
    |
    RV042
    |
    192.168.20.X
    |
    | Would like to somehow join the 2 networks together.
    |
    DSL 2
    |
    RV042
    |
    192.168.40.X

Hi Matt, you may utilize 1 RV042 router and host the dual wan for each connection then bind the appropriate services to the WAN. You then may enable the multiple subnet feature on the router to allow both separate LAN IP network communication through the LAN.
Next you can make very specific firewall rules for the specific services.
The caveat of this router firewall is that it has a default state table. To bypass the default state table you will need to make such a deny all rule for every field.
Then make a service rule to permit source ip to destination IP using which WAN for what service. (Confusing isn't it?)
Reference this topic to get an idea what I'm talking about.

  • Multiple OLE DB connection managers to the same database instance in a SSIS package

    Hi,
While migrating DTS package to SSIS package, I came across one which had multiple OLE DB connection managers all connecting to the same Oracle schema in the same instance.
There are that many execute SQL task corresponding to each of these connection managers.
Each of  these SQL task call different Oracle stored procedures and executes them in the same schema in the same instance.
My question is, is there any particular reason or advantage in having multiple connection managers?
Can't we have one single connection manager and use the same in all of these SQL tasks?
Does multiple connection managers provide any added advantage like parallelism or something?
In this particular case, there are no actual workflows, rather each of these SQL tasks are stand alones. But there are other packages which has SQL tasks in workflow but still each of them calling separate connection managers all calling the same schema
    in the same instance.
    Thanks for your time.
    Cordially, Biju George

Well like I said, each of  these SQL task calls "different" Oracle stored procedures even though executes them in the same schema in the same instance. I tried a sample testing by creating two separate packages, one with only one single
OLE DB connection referred in all of the SQL tasks and in the other one with mutiple OLE DB connections to the same schema in the same instance each of which is referred in each of the SQL task in one to one mapping.
Now the first one created one session in Oracle but the later created as many sessions as there where OLE DB connection managers. The first one took longer to complete than the second one since second one created independent sessions and executed those procedures
    sort of parallely.
I guess that can be called an advantage of creating multiple connection managers to the same schema in the same instance.

  • Can I create a home network withous dsl connection with airport express

can I create a home network without dsl connection with airport express?
So it means I can't connect to my HP Airprint/Wireless printer without exretnal connection through ISP?? Just need to print from my Mac and iphone. I have Vodafone Prepaid connection, which is directly connected to my Mac. Does that make an internal network possible?

You have to set up the Air Port with an internet connection to set up a network. Do you have a modem? If yes you can set up the network.

  • Safari 6 stalling DSL connection

Here I am with the exact same issue Safari 5 had when it was released.
I installed Safari 6 on my MacBook Pro whilst waiting for my Mountain Lion to download. I like the new changes and the page rendering seems to be super fast. But it keeps stalling my DSL connection. I know it's not an Airport problem, and it's not my MBP (other devices on the network are unable to load pages once the connection has stalled); which leaves just the modem and connection. Connection is fine when I'm using Chrome.
After upgrading to Mountain Lion, the issue was still present. So i backed up and did a clean install of Mountain Lion and still no joy.
Advice, suggestions, and resolutions very much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Yeah I am having the same issue - befor and after ML. Following on from the same issue, online documents ie. google spreadsheets become un-clickable, youtube videos do not stream smoothly...

  • Flaky DSL connection

I have a DSL connection through Verizon that requires a username and password to get connected and once connected is always on. Now when I set this up with the DSL Modem/Router(it is a full router with all capabilites for networking like Linksys or Airport but a generic Westell verison) I inputted my username and password to log into the DSL Network. It has some firmware on it that requires the username and password be inputted into the router for the internet to connect properly. In the connection properties of the router it has DSL connection "connected/not connected" and Internet connection "connected/not connected". Also on my AEBS I have inputted my username and password for the DSL connection also.
    It is working like this:
My DSL Modem/Router connects to the internet using my username and password. DHCP is disabled and wireless is also disabled. So it is acting like a bridge to just supply the internet connection. My AEBS is setup with the same username and password setup under PPOE over Ethernet. It has DHCP enabled with NAT and also my wireless network setup.
The question is since I have my username and password for the DSL incorporated into both Routers could that cause a problem with my connection? I am seeing connection drops and drops in bandwidth also. It will go anywhere from 50 KB to 160 KB and flux in between. I want to make sure before I go after Verizon for bad service. If its my fault I want to know before I accuse them of bad connections.
I was thinking of either setting up the DSL Router w/ my username and password and setting AEBS to just Ethernet and let it do everything else or take my username and password out of the DSL Router and just let my Aitport make the connection. Which would be best. Thanks in advance.
iMac G5 2.0 Ghz 1 Gig RAM, AP & BT, 400 Gig HD   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   iBook G3 700 Mhz 640 MB RAM Airpot

If i enable DHCP on the westell router it will give my AEBS a DHCP address and it will not function properly. I tried going through and disabling DHCP on my AEBS but it said to use PPoE you should leave DHCP enabled. Now if i remove the PPoE status on my AEBS and enable just Ethernet nothing goes throuh from that point on. It gets the IP from my router but then nothing functions. I was trying to figure out a way to let the westell be a gateway and make my PPoE connection for me and then once it hits the airport for it to distrubute IPs and do my wireless. The westell routr is generic and doesn't have many options. it came with my DSL setup package.
Now i did notice on the router it does have a routing table. Is it possible to setup a routing table to go straight to my AEBS and let it take it from there?
This is getting complicated now. I do tech support for networks for my day job and I have nevr seen anything this difficult to get working right. I think i might just call Verizon and try to get a dsl modem w/o a router and let my airport handle everything.

  • DSL connection gets slower than dial up at night

For the last week my DSL connection has been getting really slow in the late afternoon and evening. It is fine in the morning. Also in the evening I have started getting error messages such as Request Timeout, The connection was reset while the page was loading, and Can't find DNS server. Verizon has tried to blame my laptop, but the same thing happens with my two desktops and my wife's desktop. Verizon has also tried to blame my Belkin router, which I took out of the equation by hooking the DSL modem directly to my laptop. The modem is a Westell 6100G.
Could there be too much traffic through the CO in the afternoon and evening that is affecting my connection?

NDT Test is not showing packet loss yet the line sounds like it's behaving like there is a ton of loss occurring. I'll see if I can get someone. It's hard to say how Verizon has things set up but if 1Mbps is the top speed in your area and the sync rate was set that low deliberately rather than by some sort of provisioning accident, I wonder if your DSLAM is fed by bonded T1 lines. Not too uncommon to find that still to this day where DSLAMs are not fed by Fiber especially in very rural areas.

  • Multiple TCP/IP connections

    Hello,
I am new with labview and I am trying to connect WAGO controller with LabVIEW 13  through modbus protocol via TCP/IP. Now, the question is how can I have multiple TCP/IP connections in the same LabVIEW project but different VIs? I am using MB ethernet master query.vi to write and read registers. Any suggestion would be very helpful to me.
    Thanks and Regards

Yes, Nathan's idea is a good one to remember any time you have a common resource that will be accessed from multiple locations. In addition to instrumentation, I have used this idea for files and database connections.
An added benefit is that it allows you to redefine the interface to the resource to make it easier to access. In fact you could even use it to hide the exact nature of the resource you are accessing.
