Multipoint Tracking Question

Objective:
I want to multipoint track an object, in my footage, to keep the footage locked on an object
throughout the clip
The small footage is of a motocross motorcycle hitting a ramp, launching, and landing.
I want to keep the motorcycle completely horizontal throughout the clip, using two track
points, for example, one point right above the front wheel, and another point right above
the back wheel.
I know how to do this, Ive done it before in the past, but, it was with better, more trackable footage.
I am also aware that the entire video will spin around the "locked" object, I actually want this effect.
But this time, my footage is less than perfect, and I cannot get a solid track.
So, my question to the forum is this:
Is there a way to use my, "less than perfect" footage as the base layer, then, add another
layer, transparent, on top of the motorcycle footage, and use this transparent layer to add tracking dots, to painstakingly move the dots manually frame by frame, and then, use those dots for the tracker to track, and use the resultant track, and apply the resultant track back to my motorcycle footage?
That way, I would have the perfect track, (...as I need it).
If this is possible,
1. What type of layer would I use as the, "transparent" layer?
2. How would I take the resultant track, and apply it back to my initial motorcycle footage?

The first thing to try when you get a bad track is to increase the size of the tracked object.
Your idea of manually setting up points would be just the same as adjusting the track manually one frame at a time in tracker. There are a bunch of tutorials out there on how to use the tracker. Just try a google search or go over to Adobe TV. Can't add a link. I'm on my iPhone.

Livecycle and acrobate seem pretty useless whenit comes to tracking and creating unique IDS for form distribution - they expect you to buy Livecycle ES and runa server!
Also there seems to be no documentation about the Javascript(?) that is added when you use the distribution wizard, such as the askuseridentity and askemailclient methods - You would have thought that this would be the basis for at least a tutorial! see below.

Message Tracking Question

We installed a C150 in our office and we enabled Message tracking on the day we installed the device. However when we try to find messages all the way back to October (the 13th, the day we installed it) there were no results found. At the top of the message tracking page we have this:
Available Time Range: 13 Oct 2008 15:04 to 23 Dec 2008 12:50 (GMT -0500)
Data in time range: 99.98% complete
Is there any way we can track messages back that far?
I do have a support case open, but I wanted to see if anyone else has that issue.

Why does the "Available Time Range" appear to be missing the oldest data?
Answer
This is a known centralized message tracking issue in which the earliest 15% of tracking data is not currently available for querying. However, the appliance retains the data, and the data will be available for querying after this issue has been resolved.
A future release will provide access to 100% of the time range in the tracker database.
This is Defect ID 39471.
Hope this will explain your problems (the only way to find the missing part is via the CLI-find/grep command).

Motion tracking Question

I have a shot that is panning and asit pans a television will come onto the screen. My plan is to corner pin an image on to the TV. The problem is there is nothing to pin the image to until my trackers on the TV enter the screen. I just did a quick test and tried keyframing until I get all 4 trackers on but It's not as smooth as I would like it to be.
I read a post here about using the offset track but I didn't really understand what the poster was saying. Could anyone give me any quick "Motion Tracking for dummies" explanation of what I need to be doing? Also- we haven't shot the shot yet so is there a better way to do this setting up four trackers- one on each corner of the TV?

Yeah- I studied up on that. I've actually talked the DP into changing his shots around so the TV is always on screen. I figured I would leave the question opened for future use. Thanks

HSRP Interface Tracking Question

I have a pair of 7206 routers for Internet access. The Internet was provided over OC3, and used interface POS1/0. I just upgraded the Internet to Ethernet so now the interface is GigabitEthernet 0/3.
I just discovered that there there is another interface that uses POS1/0 as an HSRP tracking interface. So my question is: Can I just remove the old tracking interface and add the new one? Or is there another prefered method to do this?
My current HSRP interface:

While it is correct that you can just change the HRP interface to track the Ethernet interface be aware that it may not work quite the same way. With POS and most serial interface implementations if communications with the peer is lost then the loss of keepalives will change the interface state to line protocol down and that is what the interface tracking is looking for. However with an Ethernet interface if you lose communication with the peer the interface may still be in a line protocol up state. In that circumstance interface tracking will not detect the problem.

Autonomous APs' non-root radio tracking Questions

Hi guys,
As you know, we can configure an autonomous AP that is using its .11a radio as "non-root bridge" and its .11b/g as root to track the .11a radio so that if it is down for any reason, then it will shut down the Root Radio. I've some questions about this if someone tested the below scenarios:
(1) If the .11b/g radio has been shut down, will it stay shutdown and never comeback unless an administrator do it manually? Is there an automated feature like the switches 'errdisable recover cause' method?
(2) Is there a command like 'show fallback bla bla ..' that will allow us to see that the current radio state has been shut down due to radio tracking?

Yes, these model you can configure as Root/Non-Root as long as you have an autonomous image loaded. Most of the time feature is depend on the software code.

XSS Upgrade to EhP3 - NWDI track question

All,
We are Upgrading XSS SP11 Ehp 1 to XSS SP14 Ehp 3.
We have upgraded our ECC system, Portal system, We have deployed the related Business Packages.
So far so fine. Then we come to the toughest part.
Source code upgrades in NWDI
We created two tracks XSSSP14 and XSS14MOD
XSSSP14 does not have RTS as this will only be used for comparision
XSS14MOD has runtime sysetm.
Here is my question. For XSS14MOD, ( which will 'finally' have SP11 mods + SP 14) when we create runtime system, DO WE or NOT "disable automatic deployment" in the dev system.
The question is becuase of the following thoughts of mine.
If we do not 'disable automatic deployment', then SP14MOD will overwrite all SP11+MOD with standard SP14 code when we do the initial import to development system when creating the track. Is this alright, ? Please advise.
And can anyone throw light on to their expereinces doing the manual comparisions and any better ways to track and implement changes. This is a hell lot of owork and is a project in itself

My question is:
- Do I need to set the applet to: event manager applet test trap? Do I need this so the trap action would work?
- When the tracked object goes down, will the EEM app continue to generate traps during certain intervals until the tracked object is down? Or will it generate only one trap on the first occurrence the object goes down?

1. No. Just make sure "snmp-server enable traps event-manager" is configured.
2. It will only generate the trap when the object first goes down. It will not generate the trap again until the object comes back up and goes down again.

Customer login session tracking questions

Hi,
I work for a research support group at a university. We have a mixed platform environment. The nature of the services we provide requires that we bill for time spent on out compute devices.
There are a couple of questions in this posting. The fundamental one though is -- for 10.4 and higher Macs running on Intel and non-Intel hardware what is the "best" solution to track login sessions for our customers? A session has to include the concepts of logging in and out from the console or remote (ssh) access to the machine(s).
I am interested in Apple native and third party or open source solutions. I need to track/log that customer-X logged in to machine-M at dateTime-T and logged out at dateTime-T'. I also need to know if the machine was (re)booted or had some other action occur that would impact a customer login session.
So the main question is, are there existing customer session tracking solutions?
I have an existing home grown (non-Intel) solution that works well on non-Intel macs and other *nix boxes. It is a daemon that reads accumulated, rotated wtmp files and then "hangs" on the current wtmp file waiting for and processing session records as they arrive.
This worked like a champ until we installed our first Intel Mac. I re-compiled the C code that uses the utmp.h include files and structs to get at the info but it silently fails. I received some advice on changing my make file and am currently using:

Again, this compiles without error but silently fails. I don't know anything about compiling on any Macs, much less these new ones. Ideas are greatly appreciated.
Lastly, I have started reworking the whole setup and may move it all to perl. Here I can read the wtmp files easily using unpack() even on the Intel Macs. I can daemonize the thing but I'm stumbling a bit on one issue.
I have noticed in the past that there can be a sort of race condition during the wtmp rotation on some machines where the active wtmp gets rotated but the old logging still writes one or two records to the rotated file before switching to the new one. I was starting to look into a programmatic solution for this when I looked at the rotated wtmp files on this one machine and I see file dates of:

Audio track questions

Hello, I filmed a few interviews with two microphones for each interview (one mic for each xlr) I did not have the mics setup correctly, so one mic wrote to one track while the other mic wrote to the other audio track. How do I copy a single audio track (ex. a2A2) and paste it again in A4 so that i can have that track play on both speaker sides?

Set the pan state on the two tracks to center. Select them in the timeline and press Control-period.

OBIEE usage tracking questions

Hi,
I am using OBIEE 11g and we enabled usage tracking.
Recently, i have observed that some inserts to S_NQ_ACCT table is failing due to "String literal too long" error.
We have configured VARCHAR(4000) for QUERY_TEXT column in physical layer which is causing issues since the executing query has more than 4k characters, I would like to configure in such a way that the insert should not fail and it should exceed with first 4k chars inserted.
The one way i can think of is, in physical layer importing as a view(with subtr() applied on query_text) in lieu of physical table.
Is there any other way i can achieve this?

Yep a Duplicate Tracks Question, Again!

I had a problem with the file structure on my Power Mac becoming unstable and took the machine in for repair. Coincidentally I asked for a WD bigger drive I fitted sometime ago to be the boot drive. As the reason for the disintegrating file structure couldn't be found the old drive is physically disconnected but the data files etc are on the new drive. I was told to open iTunes and drag Users/Me/Library/iTunes/ etc into the open app to rebuild etc. The 'fresh' version of iTunes opened empty and I followed instructions. And ended up with approx 4000 duplicate tracks. I've dragged the whole new library to trash and emptied trash and redone but same again. I can't see any duplicate tracks in finder looking in users/me/music/itunes All the band names and individual tracks are in there and if I look at an individual track the original rip date or purchase date is shown. No double listing of names though.
I've started to go through Duplicate View in iTunes but haven't even made it out of the A's yet and it takes ages. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?
I've copied all to an external drive so am prepared to delete all info and start again if there is a surefire way to do that. If that is the best way.

Camera tracking question

I have some hand held video footage. I have created a 3-D object in 3ds MAX and need to get it into the footage somehow. I have no idea how to do this. I know I can track camera movement with Mocha, but I need help. Can I take this information and transfer it to a camera in MAX?

There are two solutions (like already metioned):
You can render your object out from 3Ds MAX with a static camera, import the footage to After Effects, motion track your video and parent the render to the tracking data. Therefore you need to match the camera angle in your 3D-Software and you can't use this method for a actually moving camera. But for tilt and shift movement I think it's a good method.
You alternatively could use the free voodoo camera tracking software. Of course it doesn't give as great results as the commercial software solutions but I'm quite sure you can get a pretty nice 3D-track with a little work. Then you can export the tracking data as a script for 3Ds MAX and use it in the 3D software!

It means FedEx have been told there is a parcel to collect from the manufacturer, they may have collected it as well, but it looks like you have missed a shipping slot as it was collected after the FedEx cut off.
