Multiprovider characteristics

Hi,
I would like to add characteristics in the structure of a multiprovider.
The problem is that the characteristics that I would like to add are not characterics in the infocubes of the multiprovider, there are just navigational attributes of the characteristics. (And I musn't add them in the infocube characteristics.)
Consequently, they do not appear in the multiprovider template and I can't add them in the multiprovider structure.
Have you any idea that could help me to solve this problem ?

Hi,
If they are defined as nav attributes in Cube, you can have them as Nav attributes in MultiProvider as well.
If they are Nav attributes of characteristic, define them as Nav attributes at Infocube level also..Then you will be able to defined them as Nav attributes at MultiProvider level.
go InfoProvide maintainance>Nav attributes>Here you have to enable 'nav attributes check box ' to make them Nav atributes at cube level.
Activate InfoProvider.
Then go to multiProvider maintainance>Nav attributes> here you can see the all Nav attributes of underlying cube-->enable nav attributes here also..
You will see Nav attributes by clicking 'Navigational attributes' push button in InfoProvider/multiProvider maintainance. Not under 'Template'

While creating the multiprovider, its asking for assignment of infoobject.
I have one DSO and one cube in the MP. Say for example,g/l account is present in both the data target.
Now tell me which one to choose. If select g/l account in DSO alone what will happen or cube alone what will happen.
Hope you understand my question.
I want to know the use assigning the infoobject.

Multi provider is virtual, it does not contains any mappings or any thing .so u have to specify the objects which u want in the reporting purpose. in that way identification is importent.
in ur case drag two IO and assign from both.not to forget pick up atleast one key figure from both info providers.
Check each and every info object assignment at right click of the perticular object.Use All at the assignment screen for the quick identification

Combining 2 nav.ATTR into one

Dear Experts,
I have the following problem:
In the InfoCube we have 2 characteristics with the same nav. ATTR (0coorder and 0costcentr, nav.attr is profit_ctr).
Data records are loaded from two sources (orders and costcenters).
I need to combine both nav.attr - meaning to combine records on the level of profit_ctr (nav.attr) to be display in the same line. Records from orders do not have costcenters, records from costcenters do not have orders.
Is this possible in the BEX or with MultiProvider?
I do not want to change loading procedures or change InfoCube !

just an idea, not sure if this works.
Try to create the multiprovider based on your infocube.
In the definition of the multiprovider characteristics assign for the profit_ctr both the nav.attribute of 0coorder and 0costcentr. The query should combine the records with the same profit_ctr then.

Mapped characteristics in Multiprovider not available in Query Designer

Hi,
we have a multiprovider with approx 10 cubes and lot of characteristics, Navigational attributes mapped to it. I have added around 3 more characteristics and mapped to underlying cubes. But these added characteristics are not visible in Query designer. Is there maximum limit for the number of characteristics.

Disconnecting the BEx made it work. But i dont understand i added this yesterday in the multiprovider. But i also removed some navigational attributes from the mapping. I will re-map and check. Thanks for the tip.

Characteristics into a multiprovider

Hi:
I'm making a Query based in a multiprovider (two cubes). I would like to know if this cubes must have exactly the same characteristics to display key figures from both cubes, or it's enough to have one or two characteristccs in comon, like 0COMPANY_CODE or 0EQUIPMENT.
Besides this when i put a characteristic contained only in one cube as a navegation attribute¿ Does it only display the key figures of his corresponding cube?

Hi,
If you want to display the key figures from both the cubes then make sure that whatever char you are using in the rows of the reports should be present in both the cubes.
If it is present only in one cube then only key figures from that cube will show agains respective char and key figure values from the other cube which doesn't contain that char will show up in #.which will not help in any sense.
In identification you do not need to have evrything from both the cubes only those chars which are supposed to be used in the drill down and are used in the rows are needed to be present in both the cubes.
for navigation question yes it will only pick the values from one of the cube and will put there values against respective chars.others will pile up against #.

Multiprovider Scenario with unequal characteristics

Hi experts,
I have a tricky request which I would like to have your opinions on.
Our business department wants to combine information form different areas - so far nothing special, right?
Say we have
Cube A with Characteristics C1,      and KF1
Cube B with Characteristics C1, C2 and KF2
Cube C with Characteristics C1, C3 and KF3
So their desired result would be:
C1 C2 C3 KF1 KF2 KF3
The result should now show any "#"' lines they would like to have it "on one line".
Obviously B does not have Char C2 and C3 so there needs to be "trick".
I thought about putting the three cubes into a multi provider. In the query I use constant selection for the KF´s 1-3 for Char C2 and C3.
When I did this the system did not suppress the # anymore. I found a note saying this is a "normal" behavior since I don´t have a leading KF for characteristic combination generation anymore.
Okay fine.. so I thought about excluding the "#" lines constantly.. but in Cube B not all C1-Combinations of the other cubes are contained - but they need to be display too.
So I guess I have a typical Left Outer Join scenario, am I right?
Now what can I do?
- Using Infoset? This would mean to include 13 DSOs.. not sure about the performance then. What do you think?
- Creating a new Infocube? Thats the least I would like to do....
Anyone any Idea????

Please see the example above. Without constant selection I would have following result:
C1      C2         C3           KF1      KF2      KF3

This is not what we would like to achive....

How to display all the characteristics in a MultiProvider in a single Row?

I have a requirement as follows :
The MP has data from 2 cubes C1 and C2 as follows:
         Char1 Char2 Char3 Char4 KYF1 KYF2 KYF3
C1       1        2        3        #       10      20      #
C2       1        2       #         4       #       50      60
means blank ie. the char is not present in a constituent Cube.
My Report rquirement is :
Char1 Char2 Char3 Char4 KYF1 KYF2 KYF3
1        2        3        4       10       70      60
Kindly suggest how to achieve this in Query Designer7.0?

Hi,
Multicube is based on Join and therefore all the charateristics which are part of the report like rows of the report or in the drill down of the report..... should be part of the both the cubes.
Either you can have same char and key figures from both the cubes in the report or char from both the cube and key from any cubes.Then only the values will come in single records.
Its not possible to combine the char from one cube and key figure from others in case of multicube and will give you result in two different rows.
You should go for infoset for those cases.

Problem while running a query on multiprovider

I have created a query to generate the balance sheet in FIGL using standard virtual cube 0FILGL_V01 and a custom transactional cube which gets plan data through BPS. The custom plan cube is an exact copy of the 0FIGL_V01 (plan value is populated in 0val_flow KF). These two cubes are conncected using a multiprovider. In the identification tab in the mutliprovider definition I have selected both the data targets for all characteristics.
Now when I create a query for balance sheet using GL account no and plan and actual value of cumulative balance KF I get the following error.
Error 'Field symbol has not yet been assigned.' in RSDRC_CUBE_DATA_GET_RFC could not be caught.
When i run the query in the RSRT transaction it shows 'Some Key figure have exception aggregation.'
I'll be very grateful if somebody could explain how to about removing this error. Thanks a lot.

Import Support Package 16 for 3.5 (BW 3. 50 Patch 16 or SAPKW35016) into your BW system. The Support Package is available once Note 0872275 "SAPBWNews BW Support Package 16 NetWeaver'04 Stack 16", which describes this Support Package in more detail, has been released for customers.
Before you implement the correction, you must carry out the following actions:
1. Use Transaction SE37 to create the RSDRC_RAISE_EXCEPTION function module in the RSDRC function group (Short text = Terminator 2). This function does not have any parameters.
2. In the RSDRC_CUBE_DATA_GET_RFC function module, under 'Tables', add the new entry E_T_MESG of the TSMESG type and this new entry is optional.
3. The T100 messages DBMAN 003,004 and 005 complete the correction:
a) 003: Unknown error in part cube RSDRC_CUBE_DATA_GET_RFC = &1
b) 004: Non-catchable error '&1' in RSDRC_CUBE_DATA_GET_RFC.
c) 005: The following error occurred in RSDRC_CUBE_DATA_GET_RFC for part cube = &1.
In urgent cases you can implement the correction instructions.
To make information available in advance, the notes mentioned may already be available before the Support Packages are released. However, in this case the short text still contains the words "preliminary version".

Unable to add new Infoobject from Infoprovider to multiprovider

Hello Experts,
I have a multiprovider which joins four different Cubes. Now, I added a new Infoobject to one of those Cubes but I am unable to transfer that InfoObject from the Cube to the multiprovider. I tried the identify characteristics option in the edit multiprovider mode but I was unable to see that Infoobject in the base cube to which it is added. The only unusual thing about this Infoobject is that it is not linked to any source field and set to initial in the update rules as I am populating it using a ABAP code in the end routine. I am not sure if this has got to do anything with the problem
Any help in this regards will be appreciated and points will be duly assigned.

Multiprovider design between characterstics and KF

Hi Experts
I have 2 MP , i have to design new MP using these 2MP.
I have to integrate these 2 MP, here challenging key point is:
I have to integrate between characteristics of 1st MP to KF of 2nd MP, But there are some common characteristics between these two MP's, Can Any experts give suggestion on this design.

Hi Meena,
If your data from ODS is not available in Multiprovider then there can be following three cases:
1> Data is not activated in ODS
2> Data is acitvated in ODS but you have not provided characteristic identification from ODS in multiprovider
3> THe Calendar Day for which you want to see the data from Multiprovider; you may not have any data for that calendar day in your ODS.
Please check this and let us know if there are any issues.

MultiProvider design CMP Warnings

I'm trying to activate a MultiProvider using some infocubes including 0PA_C01 and 0PAOS_C01. When I check some warnings appears, among others:
Check of MultiProvider ZM:
Error messages from point of view of OLAP processor:
CMP problem occurred in characteristic [ZRUTA]Rutas for InfoProvider 0PAOS_C01
CMP problem occurred in characteristic [ZSTOR_LOC]Storage location for InfoProvider 0PAOS_C01
CMP problem occurred in characteristic [ZRUTA]Rutas for InfoProvider 0PA_C01
CMP problem occurred in characteristic [ZSTOR_LOC]Storage location for InfoProvider 0PA_C01
CMP problem occurred in characteristic [ZRUTA]Rutas for InfoProvider Z0PY_C02
as I can see it's because I'm using some characteristics that exists at some infocubes but not in the infocubes that originated warnings listed above. When trying to activate, Multiprovider activation is succesful, but when trying to retrieve info using Query Designer queries any info about involved infocubes is not available.
Has anyone experienced situations like this and what solution worked to fix it? what action(s) should I take into account?

Hi,
Our EDWH landscape was on SPS 13 earlier, for sreolving certain other issues SAP suggested us to with SPS 16 Upgrade. Post SPS Upgrade in our development system, when we tried to activate the Multiprovider we have faced this warnings of CMP( Common Multi Provider) mentioning about the Compounding Infoobjects.There has been no change the struture post SPS, but still we received this error messages, when contacted SAP for the same, it suggested to insert the values mentioned by Jose in RSADMIN table, which will convert the errors to warnings.
Even though the struture remained the same post SPS, these warnings are and added feature after SPS 13.
There is no problem after this data insertion in the RSADMIN table.

Multiprovider design (InfoObject assign) and query dehavior

Hi experts,
we have a hetergenous multiprovider, it has several InfoCube as the basis cube. when execute the query, it will display some duplicated records.
1) the two duplicated records are exactly the same, including characteristics, navigational atrribute, key figures.
2) the two duplicated records have the same characteristics, navigational attribute, with some of different key figures .
It's very hard to identify the root cause why for some of the records, it will have duplicated records. Meanwhile, I have some question for the multiprovider design..
For example, now we have 4 InfoCube..
In those 4 infoCube, we have the 0Material inside. at Multiprovider level, 0Plant are assign from those 4 infoCube
Only 3 of the InfoCube, have the 0Plant inside. at Multiprovider level, 0material are assign from those 3 infoCube.
1) what will happen , if I include 0plant and 0material as the rows in the query designer, will this cause some duplciated records ?
Now , 0Material, have the navigational attrribute, 0mateiral_0matl_type, If I only 3 Cube has the
0mateiral_0matl_type Open and assign into the Multiprovider..
In my query, I use the 0material, and also 0material_0matl_type as the variable , both could input the values, and display in the rows
What will happen ? if not all the navigational attribute are assigned at the Multiprovider level, but the master data InfoObject 0material it self are all assigned at the multiprovider level.
2 ) Is there any influence to retrieve the record ? I am not sure if 0Material are correctly assigned, 0material_matl_type will influence the result (number of records), or will this cause duplicate records ?
I think in some of the case, in the sub -cube, not all the required InfoObject, or navigational attribute are avalable at the ALL Cube level, but in the query level, they are used.
Finally, what could be the reason for duplicated records ?? they should be merged after execution..

If you iunclude any characteristics or a navigational attribute which is not common in both the infoproviders
then the it will show the result in a seperate line ,
But you have a option to overcome this , refer the How to document in the below link

Multiprovider mapping problem

I have an two infocubes with different info objects but of same data .
Ex:
Cube 1 is having Event code.(XEVT).Data in this cube is up to from 2009 to 2010.
CUBE 2 is having Event code but tecnical name is different (XEVT1).from 2011 to till date.
Now when i create an Multi provider on this two cubes ,When i try to map the event code ,It shows me only on Mapping. but where as for the restof characteristics it show two mapping which bring data from both the info cube..only for this event code it is bringing from only one info cube.
Please help me in getting data from both the cubes.......

Hi,
The info object is on different technical name in two cubes.
So, the object with technical name XEVT will contain only Cube 1 for selection and object with technical name XEVT1 will contain Cube 2 for selection.
In the report you will have Infoobject in two different fields but not single field.
If you want the data from both the Infoobject you have to include those two infoobjects in your multiprovider.
But still you will have these displayed in different fields in report. If your report is ran for period ranging from 2009-2010 you will have values populated for XEVT but not XEVT1 or else it is for period ranging from 2011 till date you will get values populated in XEVT1 but not XEVT.
