Multiselect in filmstrip - behaviour depends on grid or loupe

When I select multiple items in the filmstrip and applies keywords, it correctly applies the keywords to all items if I am in gridview, but if I am in loupe view it only applies the keywords to the current image.
I feel that the difference between a multiselect in the grid and what a multiselect in the filmstrip is a little confusing. I then filmstrip I can apply rating and flags to the selection but not keywords.
I now knows how it works, so it's not a big issue to me, but it's confusing in the start, and it is anoying to find that when you thought that you had added metadata to many pictures it only applied to one. Maybe the right panel should be clear to whether it applies to one or multiple pictures?

It is deliberate to provide two modes of working. There is a learning curve, though.

I want to know how txrpt commands generate report for service timing from standard error output file which contain service start and end date and time. I am getting different output on two different machine which have same hardware configuration.Which environment variable value or settings is used to determine this.
    Thanks

    Hi Ajeet,
Tuxedo framework will record a time point in process just before the service execution and computes the time used just after the service execution finished. Then output the results to a disk file (default is stderr).

  • How do I get my lightroom pictures (thumbnails, grid and loupe) back?

I have lightroom 4.2 and have been using it for about two months on a Windows 7 64 bit system. Last Friday ALL pictures - the thumbnails, and the pictures in the grid and the loupe views disappeared and were replaced by grey rectangles. See screen shot:
I have tried using backup catalogs and other possible fixes but nothing has worked. Today I uninstalled Lightroom, moved the remaining Lightroom files - catalog, backups, etc. - and reinstalled Lightroom. I then created a new catalog. But once again all I get are grey rectangles rather than previews. As can be seen, the catalog contains the information about the photos. I just can't see them. And that is pretty crucial in a photo editing program!
I'm stumped and need some help, please.

Many thanks to jim01403. I had managed to have the the pictures
reappear after doing many things including making some changes to the monitor's settings. Until I read the post from jim01403, I did not know how I had retieved those pictures. Now I believe that resetting the monitor profile is what corrected my problem. I've saved the location of the instructions for resetting the monior profile to an sRGB standard.
    Again, many thanks.

  • Major Problem Trying to Delete Photos

I never tried to delete photos before from Lightroom and now I find that it is exceedingly weird. I have a set of about 100 photos I want to delete. I guessed at what should be done. Highlight them, hit delete. So I do that. I select 100 photos, hit delete. It asks me if I want to remove the photos from lightroom only, or delete them completely off my hard drive. I select remove from lightroom only. I do that and find that only the 1st photo out of 100 has been deleted. No matter what I do, only one photo is deleted. Lightroom tells me that 100 photos have been selected but will only delete one.
It took me a very very long time to delete 100 photos. Surely there must be a way to do batch deletes?? No?
    help!
Also, I just found out the same issue with keywords. I wanted to assign the same set of keywords to about 90 photos. I highlighted them all, assigned the keywords, and then found that only photo #1 has key words associated with it. All the other photos have nothing even though they were selected.
What is going on with Lightroom?
    Mac, OS X 10.4.9, Lightroom 1.1.
    Thanks

    Anita:
Tom said that Delete of several photos, multiselected in filmstrip is not working. Instead, only the "most selected photo" is deleted.
This filmstrip behaviour differs from grid and behaviour described in help.
This is usability bug, that breaks one of the main UI consistance rule: "if you have similar looking controls, they should behave the same way".
    LR has other such bugs:
    1. histogram view in develop and in library - similar look, different behaviour.
    2. Loupe view and Develop - scroll by mouse wheel on background around picture works in loupe and don't in develop.
    3. Double click on background around picture in Loupe brings Grid, while it is not in Develop
    4. One click on word "Exposure" in Quick Develop resets it, while it is not in Basic Develop (only double click works)
    etc,...
No a big deal, but very annoying.
I think LR team should make some UI Experience profiling.

And what the reasons? I don't see any.

  • APEX Listener and EPG - strange behaviour

    Hi
For some years, I've used EPG for APEX but have struggled with performance particularly as I can have up to 150 student developers using at any one time.
I do a fair amount of work using ORDImage and have successfully developed APEX applications to upload image files and display full-size and thumbnail images.
After upgrading to APEX 4.1 (from 4.0), I decided to install APEX Listener standalone.
Before I did so I checked that my applications still worked in 4.1 and they did.
However, just installing APEX Listener but not configuring it (yet) has meant that my image display in a report using a procedure based on wpg_docload.download_file( l_ordimage_image.source.localData ) no longer works in EPG - the images are not displayed.
Configuring APEX Listener and running the same application through that DOES display the images.
So this part of the application works under APEX Listener but not under EPG.
My application also allows users to upload images from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES using standard code. Under APEX Listener after uploading, I'm left with a blank page with a wwv_flow.accept URL although the image does indeed upload. Under EPG it works as expected and I get a success confirmation.
So this part of the application works under EPG but not under APEX Listener.
Has anyone else come across different behaviour depending on the mode of connection?
    Thanks
    Brian
[Oracle EE 11gR2, Windows Server 2008R2, APEX 4.1, APEX Listener 1.1.3]

    Hi Brian,
it sounds like you have both EPG and APEX Listener running on the same machine, so your problem might result from a port conflict. Note that both services use TCP port 8080 as default.
At least a port conflict would explain the strange behaviour in your case, some things working on one web server and some on the other.
Some parts of your initial post hint to that direction, e.g.
However, just installing APEX Listener but not configuring it (yet) has meant that my image display in a report using a procedure based on >wpg_docload.download_file( l_ordimage_image.source.localData ) no longer works in EPG - the images are not displayed.... because the APEX Listener only interfere with the EPG if it is at least running on the same machine as your database and furthermore, if it is unconfigured in terms of ist database connection, a port conflict might be the only way it could cause anything like that.
However, if you are sure that's not the issue, please check if you see any error in the APEX Listener's log for the following action you performed:
My application also allows users to upload images from APEX_APPLICATION_FILES using standard code. Under APEX Listener after uploading, I'm left with a blank >page with a wwv_flow.accept URL although the image does indeed uploadIf you actually see just a blank screen, something very bad must have happened and you should see some kind of stack trace there.
For further investigations, if necessary, it would be helpful to know how you deployed or started your APEX Listener and which JDK version you use.
For the moment, I still think the port conflict is my best guess.
You could avoid it by either changing the port for EPG (I'd not recommend that if you have other users still using it) or by changing the port for your APEX Listener.

  • Library. Image Preview Quality & weird behaviour.

Hi. I'll try to explain this the best I can.
I never noticed this with Lightroom 2.4 ... I don't know if this has always happend but went unnoticed or is just happening after Lightroom 3 was installed.
You browse the library, the thumbnails, as usual and the first time you click a thumbnail you get a full screen preview, wich quality I suppose is controlled by the 'standard preview quality' setting.
Once in full screen, click and you get the 1:1 preview (or any other zoom factor, but I chose 1:1). This one is generated previously or as needed.
I have the standard preview setting at maximum size, maximum quality.
When I click on a thumbnail to open the full screen preview I get this preview (just cropped and zoomed part to explain what I'm seeing) :
Notice the jagged lines everywhere ? It's noticiable at normal full screen as somewhat deformed noses, eyes, etc. Here I enlarged it to make it even more evident.
Well ... then I click to get 1:1 zoom, wich prompts lightroom to generate a 1:1 preview. Once done, I click back to the normal full screen preview. Now, this is the image I see :
See the change ? Now is softer, there's no jagged lines. No deformed eyes, just a good an clean image.
Well ... If I close the full screen preview and then I open it again, the image I get is not this second softer version already generated by lightroom after the 1:1 preview ... no, I get the first picture again, the jagged one.
Even more, If when I'm in thumbnails mode I click an image to get the full screen preview, and then browse the next images in this full screen mode... every image is jagged like this ... BUT, If I first click to enter the 1:1 preview and click back to standard preview ... then ALL the remaining images show the softer version, not the jagged one.
This only happens in library module, not in the develop module.
Was this behaviour always present ? Is this a bug ? Is it by design ?
(I hope I've explained it well enough, it's confusing and english, as you might have noticed by now is not my best language.)
Any question, help or comment is appreciated.

I know and hate this bug since version 1.0. It's still there in LR3. And I taught myself how to avoid it.
You run into this bug when you switch from Grid to Loupe and back by double-clicking the mouse. To avoid it, you should either:
    Use the keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse (Enter, Esc and Z);
or, in Loupe mode, to switch to Grid, double-click the gray area around the photograph instead of actual image area.
    Steps to reproduce the bug:
    Scenario 1:
    1. Go to grid view.
    2. Double-click a thumbnail to go to Loupe Fit.
        The image is smooth.
    3. Double-click on image (not gray area) to go back to Grid.
    4. Double-click a thumbnail to go to Loupe Fit again.
        The image is jagged.
    5. Zoom to 1:1 and back to Fit.
        The image is smooth.
    Scenario 2:
    1. Go to grid view.
    2. Double-click a thumbnail to go to Loupe Fit.
        The image is smooth.
    3. Double-click on gray area surrounding the image (not the actual image area) to go back to Grid.
    4. Double-clcik a thumbnail to go to Loupe Fit again.
        The image is smooth.
    5. Zoom to 1:1 and back to Fit.
        The image is smooth.

  • ALV GRID with icon fields. When exports to Excel, icon fields are emtpy.

    Hi all,
In our SAP system (6.0 ECC) we've noticed the following behaviour:
In ALV GRID with icons (color lights for example...) when we export the list to Excel format with the standard button bat, the icon column is always empty.
We think that in previous SAP version (4.7), the code corresponding to the icon appeared (For example @08@ for green light).
It's possible to have tha same functionality in this new version like in 4.7?
    Regards.

    Hi,
Check the format in which you export to Excel (MHTML, XML, ...) and try antoher one.

I think the integrated Excel mode shows '@08@'.

  • Filmstrip Navigation - How to GoTo 1st or Last entry

This maybe a very simple thing but I can not find it.
When in Library mode I want to move around the filmstrip (at the bottom) when in Loupe View.  The same can be said about being in Grid View.  I am able to go to the next or previous slides with the arrow keys and by pressing Page-Up and Page-Down it jumps ahead/back 10 or slides.  How do you jump to the first or last slide?  When I push Home or End nothing happens.  I thought it was supposed to jump to the first or last slide.
    Windows 7 PC
    64 bit
Run LR5.3 on computer - not CC version.
    Thanks for any suggestions.
PS - I have looked at several of the various cheat sheets on short cuts and can not find this.

In the grid, its Ctrl-Home or Ctrl-End. I don't think there is a keyboard equivalent for the filmstrip.

  • Keeping a 2nd monitor in Grid mode

    Hello,
I'm trying to keep a 2nd monitor locked into grid mode? For example when editing; monitor 1 is in Loupe mode, 2nd in Grid mode when I do a find the monitors will switch modes? So the 2nd goes from grid to loupe and the main monitor goes to grid mode.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Jeff

    I guess it's a bug.
(In case you wonder about my setup: my second monitor is smaller and I prefer to use it for tool panels etc. It would also be ideal to carry the Lightroom grid view by default for quick navigation, while working on the individual images on the first monitor. Not too far-fetched a setup, I guess.)
No it's by design. The grid on the second monitor is actually a vertically stretched version of the filmstrip. So, you can forget any ideas about being able to edit multiple images on the second monitor.

  • Is there a way to have stack numbers show up in filmstrip mode?

I use filmstrip mode more than grid mode because I like the larger image.  However, stack numbers don't show up (for me) in film strip mode.  When I view stacks in Bridge, the number is very prevalent and easily seen in filmstrip mode.
Am I missing a setting somewhere?
    Thanks!

  • Rendering uiXML components depending on JAAS role

    Hi,
I've read "J2EE Security in Oracle ADF Web Applications" on OTN. It is very usefull for me and helps me very much.
I note how it possible to vary components behaviour depends on the security role in JSP. For example I can show a submit button to one user and don't show for other.
    The question is:
Can I do the same things with uiXML? If it is possible, could somebody provide me with the example?
    Thabk you.

    Jonas,
Thank you for replay. Yes, I know I can use EL in render property of components. But bindings.username return empty field in my case. I use jazn-data.xml as user/role repository and Basic authentication. So for now I can't access user or role name via bindings. Also I prefer to access role name because I have several users with the same role. Every user in the role should be able to see the button (for example).
Is there any way to access user or role name via bindings?
    Thanks.

  • Behaviour of Printers parameters tool

    Hy,
I have some Mac computers in a network with a Linux CUPS server, where many printers are configured. I have observed 2 different behaviour depending on the Mac OS version, when I tried to configure cups to access the server.
On both, I have added a "BrowsePoll" line in the cupsd.conf file.
With a 10.5 client, In System preferences / Printers, I need to clic on "+", then find the printers, and select those I want.
With a 10.6 client, In System preferences / Printers, all printers are automatically added, even if I don't want them.
Is there a way to change this behaviour ?
    Thx.

A few things that may help:
    1. Use the latest version of MWO.  Version 10.08 is available for download from
           https://awrcorp.com/download/default.aspx
    2. Before importing the DXF file, select Options > Layout Options..., and in the Layout tab, set "Database unit size" to 0.001um.  Do not start with this project, the shapes in the EM structure appear to have been distorted by the course resolution (i.e. large database unit size) already.
3.Make sure the 45deg bend in your feed lines is well resolved.  In the version you attached, there is a notch in the bend: one of the two connecting rectangles needs to be extended so the corners overlap.
    4. After you create the EM structure, and add the layout and ports, right-click on the EM structure in the project browser > Options... In the Mesh tab, click the "Reset Defaults" button, and then uncheck the box for "Model as Zero Thickness".  Just in case, click the AXIEM tab, and click the "Reset Defaults" button there, too.  (You do not need to reset defaults if working with a new project.)
    5. Check the mesh and make sure all is well before running the simulation.
If you have any trouble (or still do not see the expected dip in the response) attach the updated project and describe the problem.

  • Unwanted Android selection behaviour... different in Flex versus pure ActionScript... Why?

    Hi,
I'm trying to get to the bottom of the text selection behaviour on my Android Xoom under different circumstances:
    1. In a pure ActionScript mobile app, selection and copy / paste is controlled through a floating control that appears on screen without resizing or otherwise moving anything
    2. In a Flex mobile app, selection and copy / paste is controlled through a UI bar that appears at the top of the screen, pushing the entire app downwards, losing focus on my textfield, ballsing up every bit of control I have in addition to confusing the hell out of my user whose finger is no longer pointing at the piece of text they wanted to select but rather at something else that is about a half-inch above that point...
    So...
Obviously, I want to get to 1. for Flex - eg: I want to allow selection and copy / paste without loss of focus, without repositioning and without confusing the hell out of my user.
Does anybody have any clues how I can achieve this?
    Thanks,
    G

Got it. The two selection behaviours depend on the underlying skin.
    This one works with Flex:
    skinClass
    : ClassReference("spark.skins.mobile.TextInputSkin"
Where this one shifts the app down, places a bar above, and generally screws with any interactivity you may have wanted to do using your selected text...
    skinClass: ClassReference("spark.skins.mobile.StageTextAreaSkin"

  • Panel behavior in Loupe view seperate from Grid view

When I am in grid view I like to have the left navigation panel open. However when I am in Loupe view I like to have all panels closed. Please make it so that the panel view can be different between Grid and Loupe.
    Thank you

" It is not that much extra work to hit the tab key." Perhaps not. But doing so changes the state of all panels not just the left panel. I would like finer control for loupe view.
You are right though, it is not a high priority matter. I can make due as it is now. I just want it the other way.
    Thanks

  • Multiple Selection Keywording/Labeling (Bug?)

I recently noticed an inconsistency in behavior when selecting multiple images and applying a color label or keyword.
If I am in grid view in the main window and use the lower row of images to make a sequential selection of, for example,
10 images by selecting the first and shift-clicking the 10th. If I apply a keyword to these images, it works just fine.
However, if I am in single image view rather than grid view and make the same selection using the scrolling lower
row, only the first image is keyworded or color labeled.
I personally like to look at a single image in the main viewer and use the lower scroller to go from image to image and apply keywords. If I need to apply to more than one, I shift click and select multiples.
However, I am not able to do this when viewing only a single image in the main viewer.
Am I missing something in the logic of this behavior that perhaps is  useful?
Can someone attempt to reproduce this?
Thanks so much for your help.
    -Scott
I am running the latest update of LR2 on a Mac Mini in Snow Leopard.

    scottgriz wrote:
...what is the point of being able to multiselect in the film strip when in single image view? It seems to me that a multiple selection in the film strip should behave the same no matter which way I view the main window. If it does not, there should be some logic to this behavior, not simply, "That's how it works".
    -Scott
Here's some practical uses for being able to select multiple images in the filmstrip:
    1. You're using loupe view and want to limit the number of selections so you are able to browse and choose the best image from a specific group of similar images.
    2. Same as 1 but you want to apply ratings or labels to the images in the group. The rating/label will be applied to only the most selected image, not all of them, which is the desired behavior.
    3. When in survey view the selection is controlled by the filmstrip. You can add and remove images from survey view by simply clicking on them in the filmstrip.
    4. When in compare view, you can change the select/candidate images by clicking in the filmstrip.
There might be more, but I use these all the time.
