Multisim-10 555 differences

i'm running eval of multim ver 10. how come the 555 it uses does not match the pinouts of standard 555's by Texas Instruments and the like? i trying to sim some 555 circuits i found online but the pins on the online 555's do not match those as shown in Multisim, so this makes it hard to troubleshoot when a simulation does not simulate as expected.
also, is Multisim suppose to run ("clock") in realtime? my simulations dont run in realtime, the simulation runs about 10sec realtime for every 1sec of simulation. i have P4 3.2GHz Intel Prescott with HT and 1GB of RAM, and before the sim starts i have only about 1% cpu usage and more than 700MB of free RAM.

I am going to reply to this question, but be warned that my views are only my views.
I am assuming that you are referring to the schematic symbol used for the 555 timer. The way it is arranged now is the accepted norm for most schematic representations of that IC and is not aligned with the the datasheet pin-out physically. It is arranged like this to make the schermatic entry and readability better. It used to be arranged just like the pin-out diagram in older version of EWB and it was really messy when wiring it up and it looked horrible. In my opinion, it is the way it should be. You could always create a symbol to your liking and just copy the model to it if you prefer a different presentation for this IC.
The second part of your quest has been aswered in a previous post, but I will answer it again. Multisim does not simulate in "real time". You can speed it up by adjusting the TMAX option under Simulation-Default Instrument Tab, but that will only go so far before errors will pop up. The time shown at the bottom of the screen represents "simulation time" or what I like to call "equivalent real circuit time". This represent what the real circuit timing would be if you would build your circuit on a breadboard and test it. Like you said in your post, it may take 10 seconds of "real time" to simulate 1 second of "circuit time". This is something that is inherent with using transient simulation with Multisim and the instrument packages. It just takes the simulator time process all the nodes, waveforms, voltages and run them through the Spice Engine to come up with a solution for your circuit.
To take this further, if you need immediate results and don't want to wait then you should try setting up the analysis using the Grapher. Using the Grapher you set your type of analysis, select your plot points and usually have more of an instantaneous result. and it gives the results just like what you would view on the O-scope. You bypass the instruments when you do this and I believe that frees up processor time to devote more to the circuit calucation thereby renderering faster results ( this is my theory about why it goes faster using this technique and may not be the only reason it is faster)
I hope this helps and is not too confusing. It just take a little time getting used to the way Multisim does things, but after you get accustomed to it and its little quirks, it really is a great simulator.

    Hi there,
There are other LM317 components (e.g. LM317K) in Multisim 8. The difference between the different components is mostly the footprint. You can proabably get away with using another LM317 component and modifying the footprint.

    Hi,
schauen Sie bitte das MicrophoneAndSpeaker Beispiel an,
diese simuliert einen Bandpassfilter. Zuvor können Sie mit VIs Sound

    Wenn

  • Difference between the CD and online downloaded versions of Multisim (student version)?

I want to buy the Multisim student version and noticed that there is a CD version and also a online downloadable one. I believe the CD version cost more money. Is there a difference between the two? Are the installing processes between the two different? What is the usual process for installing the software?
    Thanks, any input much appreciated!

    Hi,
The version you download and what we send on CD is exactly the same.  The only thing you need is a serial number to activate the software and this you should get through email.

  • ABST2 error messages MQ 555 and MQ 557

    Hi,
I receive the error messages MQ 555 and MQ 557 in ABST2 transaction.
We´ve done the ECC 6.0 upgrade (no new G/L activation), subsequent data conversion (migration - change transfer date) and
    EA-FIN activation.
Is there any support note or package to fix the G/L - FA subledger reconciliation or it will be automatically solved in a new year?

    Hi Madhu,
I have the same prob. How did you solve this?
Loaded all the Assets using AS91.
Did the manual entry to GL using OASV.
When i run the ABST2 Report , iam getting the below error message.
"Differences between assets and G/L accts in the balance carried forward

"Differences between assets and G/L accts at the key date Message no. MQ557"
When i checked with GL balance FAGLB03 and Asset Balance report the values match but for some reason getting this error and
Client want to see the 0.00 in Difference coloumn in ABST2. I did not run the depriciation yet. Do you think after running the depriciation it will show 0.00 in that coloumn ..

  • Need help in multisim 11? I want to get the transient response of RL circuit....

    Need help in multisim 11?
I want to get the transient response of RL circuit....i can get the increasing exponential graph in multisim 7 during simulation.....but i am getting a decreasing exponential curve(i.e,decay response) in multisim 11 when i do the same procedure as i did in multisim 7.....how can i get the initial or growth transient response for RL circuit in multisim 11 so that i can get increasing exponential curve....which satisfies time constant = L/R

    Hello,
The process is the same for any circuit (in this case it is an RC circuit which you sent me). You can find the response on the voltage (which I think it's what you're looking for) at any point of the circuit, as well as any parameter really (R,V,I,L..etc).
Please refer to the image attached (an analysis on the voltage at an inductor and the wires connected to it).
The way to set it up (once you're in the transient analysis set up) is, select the Output tab, under Variables in circuit, you can select which parameters to take. V(1) and V(2) refer to the voltage in the circuit at Net 1/2 (or wire 1/2).
This differs from the voltage change within the capacitor/inductor/resistor. If you would like to see the voltage change of an inductor/capacitor/resistor/etc, you can select under the More options box, the button Add device/model parameter, which will take you to a window to select the device type, its name (in the circuit) and the parameter which you wish to analyse. Once you click on Simulate, you can select Cursor >> Show Cursors, to view information for y and x axis (like rise time, decay time, voltage difference...etc)
    Hope this helps,

  • Differences between assets and G/L accts

Differences between assets and G/L accts in the balance carried forward
    Message no. MQ 555
    Diagnosis
Differences occurred in the balance carried forward when comparing asset summary records and G/L accounts.
    Procedure
Using program RFEWSBAL, select the accounts for which differences occurred. To do this, proceed as follows:
    1. Changeover package: Active package
    Phase: ANALYZE
    Origin of change: AS
    Proceed
    1. Analyze the accounts containing errors using note 104567.
If the document number field contains the entry "W004", this means that although a difference exists in the balance carried forward, this difference was charged off at the key date. Following local currency changeover, the system adjusts the currency differences at the key date only, but not in the balance carried forward.
If the entry "W004" exists for all affected accounts, the status is set to warning instead of error. If the correction at key date described above proves sufficient, you can continue changing over the local currency without additional adjustments in the previous year.
However, SAP does recommend that you make corrections in the previous year in line with note 104567 since this ensures that the balance carried forward is also reconciled.

  • Problem with .01 difference

    Hi Guys,
    Good day everyone!
I had a problem with my process with this .01 difference. My process was i multiply the value of Debit or Credit with * 43.84, the result of my total Debit and total credit was my example below.
    Ex: Total Debit = 3,550.56
    Total Credit = 3,550.55
    difference = .01
If you subtruct Total Debit - Total Credit the difference should be equal to zero (0) to make my process good meaning my computation was balance.
Can anyone help me how to solve this problem?
    Thank you.

Im doing a procedure regarding convertion of a particular currency based on the rate given.
Tha manual convertion below was the correct convertion. In my procedure, the -3,832,555.00 is -3,832,554.99 andi had this .01 difference.
I used the round function but still i had this oudput of -3,832,554.99.
    Manual Convertion:

  • Traffic light project for Multisim

Hello, I am trying to design a working traffic light for both N/S and E/W sides of traffic (i.e., six lights). I will build it later, for real, using the Elvis II breadboard. I have been looking around at other schematics on the web, I have drawn many of these on Multisim and none of them work. It also needs to be a U.S. traffic light, as the ones in the U.K. are different. I have tried many different combinations, with the 555 timer and the 4017 decade counter, but I don't know how these components actually work. I need help. The simplest circuit would be better, I know, like some kind of RS flip-flop or JK flip-flop (?). I don't know how these components really hook up together or how I am supposed to get the timing right, where the red and green on opposite times will stay on for a required time, like 15 seconds for demo purposes, and then go to yellow on the side the green was on for 3 seconds ( after the green goes out and the red stays on with the yellow) and then it flip-flops to green and red on the other side for 15 seconds. I don't know how to go about this. A good example would be very helpful. Thank you, brett1405

    Hi -
I am trying to build the same type of circuit in Multisim and am unable to get any simulation to run.  The error keeps saying my "timestep is too short", which I have no idea what that means...  Do you have any suggestions? I wasn't able to find the sample circuit in my Multisim version for the traffic light either.
I have what looks like a mess of a circuit and I don't even know where to begin to trouble shoot it...

    Hi,
I have 2 tables one live table and the other History table..
If i have to find differences between live table and the latest version in the History table and also find which column got chaanged
How would i do that for a table which has many columns and i need each column for which the value has changed for a id
    for ex:
Table 1   (LIve)                           Table 2 (History)
    ID col1     col2    Version               ID       col1     col2    Version

     2   NBS     1234   V1                     2        NBS     123     V2
    Result set should be
    Result Set:
    ID col which changed
    1    col1
    2    col2
Because the values for that column had been changed
Except gives me all the differences not just the column level ..

  • Multisim

I am a student using MultiSim and I am currently taking a Digital Electronics class. I want to use the software to simulate digital logic circuits and I need a 7411N THREE 3-INPUT AND GATE. The Student Edition has a 7410N 3-INPUT NAND GATE but then I'd have to add a 7404N to invert the logic, since one of the goals in this class is to create circuits with fewer components, not more I think you can see why it would be nice to get a 7411.
I started using MultiSim last semester and liked it so much I bought a copy, I was however very upset to learn that the Student version that is available for download is NOT the same version you get when you buy it. Seems the folks in marketing pulled a bait-and-switch. I just can't justify spending $499.99 for the Educators Edition vs.. $40.00 for the Student Edition. I was going to try to copy the 7410N and see if I could just change the logic output, but the Student Edition locks me out of that function.
I would very much appreciate it if someone could send me a circuit with the 7411N on it that I can model so I don't have to try to create it from scratch.
    Thanks for your help
    Richard Danto

    Hi Richard,
One thing you could do is to use the 74LS11N component. This has the same pinout and logic function as the 7411, but different delays and drive strengths. These will not effect your circuit noticeably if you have only combinatorial logic, and the difference isn't modeled that well in for simulation anyway.
I am glad that you are finding Multisim a blast. Tell your friends and spread the word. Questions and comments are appreciated and we are listening!

  • Only pic16f84 in multisim 10?

i need a good simulator but i need to know that the multisim 10 supports not only the pic16f84/a. it seems funny to ask but by what i read the only mcu that is listed is this.
is it true?, will i need to add money to get other microchip mcu's?
    thanks for your help, ran.

I am not sure I can aswer your question but I'll try. I would assume until I hear differently that this PIC was chosen because it is probably the one that is most popular to use in applications and/or learning situatiions. I am also going to assume that if I can learn to program this PIC then programming other PICS should not be that difficult. There may be minor differences in ports and memory, but It should transfer well to other PICS. So you can learn to use and program this PIC and I guess transfer it to other PICs in reality. If nothing else you will at least have a platform for code testing and circuit simulation using a PIC before actulally burning one.
I am new to this module as well, so what I have told you is just my thoughts and are not be taken as the only explanation.

  • 555 monostable timer

    Hello Guys,
I built this 555 timer in monostable state and it is not working. I built one with the 555 wizard timer and one from scratch.  They are set with different pulse width.  Does anyone have any insight on that?  Any thing that I am missing?  Any limit exceeded?  If anyone had any suggestions, it will greatly appreciated.
It is very basic but for some reason it is not working, I am expecting it to send a pulse every time it is triggered.
I tried to attached the circuit to my post but it will accept the extension.  Please help.
    Thanks for the help.
    Tirouj

Without seeing your circuit most of what I am telling you will be conjecture on my part.
    1. Check to make sure all power connections are attached (obvious of course, but I have been known to forget to do this)
    2. Under Simulation settings make sure that set to zero is activated.
    3. You never said how you were triggering your timer, but it requires a negative going signal on pin 2. I usually tie a 1K ohm resistor to positive and trigger with a switch to ground. This negative signal cannot stay negative longer than the time-out period of the timer otherwise it will just keep re-triggering and in a way oscillate in an undesirable way. You can trigger positive to, but I haven't had much success doing this in Multisim unless I invert and integrate the positive trigger pulse.
Anyway, that is all I can think of barring a messed up timer in your version. If you could somehow post a picture of your circuit I may be able to get a better picture of what is happenning and may come up with a better solution for you.
