Multitasking on an iPad 2

Hi there!
I would like to ask about multitasking on an iPad 2. With an Android Honeycomb tablet or an Ice Cream Sandwich phone you are able to surf the Internet, watching a video in YouTube and listening to an Internet music station all at the same time in real-time and looks very easy to open & close the windows with a multitasking app drawer/button.
My question is: is this behaviour or feature possible with an iPad 2?
Thank you.

Android does not do what you described.
It is a single window focused OS just like IOS.
If you are watching a YouTube video, you cannot be surfing the net or listening to a Internet radio station at the same time.
If you want to do that, buy a laptop.

I need an answer.......because this is not fair.......

Only Apple could answer that and Apple does not post here. As to whether or not it's fair, life is not fair.

  • Where are Multitasking Gestures for iPad 1

I have been using Multitasking Gestures on an iPad 1 for some time now.
It was enbled through Xcode, however I can't see how to turn it back on following the iOS5 update.
    Can anyone help?

Apple should think carefully about how they treat iPad1 users.
iPad1 users are the tech savvy people who moved first and recommended to their friends that they come on board when iPad2 was released.
However, experiences like this might inspire us to find alternatives to the next logical step (iPad3), given that Apple are unnecessarily limiting the features of older devices.  If Apple want to inspire us to find alternatives to iPad3 and help our friends make the switch too, then just keep following this older style of business model!

  • How to install the Multitasking in the iPad 1 ?

    Hi,
I don´t have it in the General Settings and did not find any help about this matter. appreciate any help.

    Allan,
I am not sure why you are arguing symantics here?  I said every 3rd party apps launched stays active, but I did not claim they are all running in the background.  In my case, this is the case because download meter is still recording data usage even when my iPhone or iPad is turned off.
You said every 3rd party application is launched can not be running in the background and be active.  Why would you even have a task bar?  And why when you click the application under the task bar, it takes you to the last screen you left from and this allows you to jump from one app to another?  And when you officially terminate the application under task bar and relaunch, it reloads a new screen or reloads the last screen you left from?  In some applications like my bank apps, it forces me to re-login if I forced the application to close.
Anyways, I think you are the person who wants always to be right.  So sir, you are right.
    Thanks,

  • Bug gesture multitasking iOS 8 iPad

when the iPad is unlocked and you want to close an application using gestures with five fingers, ios 8 does not recognize the gesture to the first release

From what others have posted on this forum it seems to be a bug and nothing users can really fix.

  • Don't see airplay icon on ipad

When I swipe my multitask tray on iPad 3, I see the audio controls but no Airplay icon.  I've never used Airplay but want to use it to mirror my screen to my computer.  Why isn't the icon appearing?
The iPad is connecting wirelessly to a network being generated by an iMac nearby with internet sharing.  I'm trying to mirror to a second iMac, which is on the wireless network too, running Reflection.
    Thanks for any suggestions,
    Bob

Actually, the computer receives Airplay fine from the iPad -- that's what the Reflection app does.  Turns out I just didn't have Wifi turned on on the receiving iMac, since it was already connected to ethernet.
Once I connected the iMac to the wireless network, it worked great.  It's awesome!

  • No gestures for iPad 1 in iOS 5? Apple, are you kidding us?!

    This is not fair.

I upgraded my personal original iPad to 5.0 trusting this functionality would continue to work(1). This is really disappointing since there is no reason why it would not work in the original iPad, it worked perfectly fine in 4.3.X when being a developer.
I worship apple products but it is really unpleasant when there are features that are being removed especially when it is my favourite feature.
Since my Home button is damaged, my iPad becames pretty much unusable now.
Please, reconsider this decision, it is a very bad marketing decision!

My ipad jumps apps and internet tabs when I am using it to watch videos and produce mini art.
I have reset factory settings and such, but it still happens.
Has anyone else had this problem or is my ipad buggered.
Any help or response much appreciated.

    Hi Mikey,
Take a look at the iPad User Guide, which is linked below, and make sure you aren't accidentally using multitasking gestures when the issue occurs.

    Multitasking gestures
You can use multitasking gestures on iPad to return to the Home screen, reveal the multitasking display, or switch to another app.
Return to the Home screen. Pinch four or five fingers together.
Reveal the multitasking display. Swipe up with four or five fingers.
Switch apps. Swipe left or right with four or five fingers.

  • Why can I not use multi-touch gestures on my original iPad with iOS 5?

Why can I not use multi-touch gestures on my original iPad with iOS 5?

It would appear that apple has managed to p1ss off  alot of ipad one users in one fowl swoop, what makes it worse is that fact we were the early adoptors who got asked, why do you want a big iphone for? and then spent time showing people how good it was! actually promoting it for apple! and then to get this kick in the teeth is frustrating! i wish i had known about xcode before!
    however!
keep sending feedback, i must have sent twenty yesterday and will keep sending them untill i get a reply from these idiots! and wont stop untill i do, the more feedback sheets we fill in the more they will have to listen, it takes less than a min, i just asking the same question! moaning on here wont do anything, feedback might
also note they have changed the website now, but they have not changed the iOS5 spash screen :
(•          AirPlay Mirroring for iPad 2 and iPhone 4S
              •          Multitasking Gestures for iPad
              ◦          Use four or five fingers to pinch to the Home Screen
              ◦          Swipe up to reveal the multitasking bar
              ◦          Swipe left or right to switch between apps)
clearly they were planning on releasing this update to us, otherwise on the spalsh screen it would have stated ipad 2 only, note in the sentence above it states it CLEARLY makes a reference to ipad 2 for airplay, so, whatever the problem, they can fix it and they know it works!

  • Returning to e-mail from web links

Is there a way to directly return to the e-mail app after viewing a web link contained in an e-mail? Once the browser is opened it seems like you have to re-open the e-mail app, unless I'm missing something obvious (which I hope I am!). Thanks in advance.

You have to wait until multitasking hits the iPad in version 4.X in the fall. If it works like the iPhone, all you would have to do is double click the home button and select the mail app. It will return you right where you left off.

  • Spark Radio Lite

I downloaded the free version of the Spark Radio Lite app. It has amazing access to stations all over the world, so it's great for hearing new music. Unfortunately, I can't seem to figure out how to continue the streaming while I'm doing other things on the iPad. So, the moment I hit the home key to go back and choose another app, the music stops playing.
Anyone have this app and know how to fix this? Or is it simply because I have the free version versus the paid one?

Until iOS4 for the iPad is released in November of this year you can't do what you want. What you want requires multitasking and until iOS4 is released for the iPad only a few native apps for the iPad (such as iPod) can multitask on the iPad.

  • Playbook OS 2.0 queries & concern

    Hi there!
I am planning to buy a tablet to use the internet, check apps for news/weather/shopping/restos, play the latest games, Youtube, make notes, watch my movies whilst on my holiday.
I'm looking at the Playbook and with the new 2.0 OS is it worth it? I have some serious queries & concerns if the Playbook is worth the plunge and worth the money.
    1. Can it send any files via bluetooth to any bluetooth-enabled device?
    2. Does it wake-up/start-up really quick like the iPad or those new Android 4.0 tablets?
    3. Can it play on its own .avi & .mkv files without the use of an app?
    4. Can it auto-connect to a neafby wifi if available?
    5. Can i now access/download a handful of Android apps like what i have heard? If yes is this via the App World or as a different folder or "main" app?
    6. How many hours can it do if with just "minimal" use? (surfung the net, downloading an app whilst watching a movie or playing games)
    7. Can it do multitasking like the iPad or an Android 4.0 tablet?
    8. Can one easily access running apps and easily cancle/stop them?
    9. Is there a notification bar (like Android) to access common settings, etc.
I believe these questions are really important in helping me decide what tab to choose.
Shall i stick to the tried-and-tested Android 4/4.1 tablet like the Nexus 7 et al or can the Playbook do all those ones i mentioned above?
    Please advice.

gino, you might do well to search the forums here for some answers.
    1.  Somewhat a vague question for "any", but you can find out if the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet supports a specific Bluetooth enabled device, check the information available for the Bluetooth enabled device to see what profiles it uses. The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet supports the following profiles.  http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB26506
    2. From "off", it is not quick, approx 2-3 mins. From on Standby, it is instant on swiping your finger from bottom to top bezel. I rarely every turn mine off.
    3. Find here:  Article ID: KB26518 Media types that are supported on the BlackBerry PlayBook
    4. Yes, can connect via WiFi. Also via Bluetooth tether to your BlackBerry IF it has a signal, and thirdly using the BlackBerry Bridge connection.
    5. Some via AppWorld, some via sideloading. According to the app.
    6. MY experience, watching a movie with solid use, 4-5 hours. Games, music etc., longer.
    7. iPad can't truly multitask. The Playbook does, absolutely.
    8. Yes. Instantly.
    9. Yes. The notification are in the upper left corner, Options/Settings in the upper right.
    Good luck.
