Hello. I would like to ask somebody to help me installing the Multitouch technology on my TouchSmart tx2 1270us Notebook PC. The original system came with OS Windows Vista. I bought an Upgrade for Vista from Microsoft and installed Windows 7. The problem is, that I can not use my Notebook as a Tablet( normally its working), because during the instalation of the file, downloaded from drivers&support page, comes an FATAL ERROR DURING INSTALATION, which says, that N-Trig HARDWARE was not found on my OS. The Multitouch technology does not work with WINDOWS VISTA. All I did before, was Windows reinstalation due to extremely slowed down system running, caused by too many installed programs and aplications. Exactly that reinstalation caused the whole problem. Now Im very sad about that and can not write on the display with a finger. Can anyone please help ME? If you want I can pay something. PLEASE HELP... Thanks.

         Sorry to hear about Windows 7 failer. Are you able to do a full recovery using your orginal recovery disk? If so please back up all the files you have before doing it. Write down the Windows 7 product code also. We will need it ounce you have vista windows reinstalled. You can find it in the package it came in or in the control panel displaying computers information. This number is also none as product key.
     Now that your computer has been restored to original factory condition. You are now able to update Vista Windows to Windows 7 but this time you are going to use Windows Up Advisory open it up should be listed. This time just type in Windows 7 Product Code number and let it do its thing.
       You can also goto your computers update web-page and see what's all involved in Up grading to Windows 7 they may have HP's Touchsmart software upgrades listed for downloads. Most Touchsmart software is listed. I have not yet seen any that did not display them. Yes you are in the correct section for your post. Some one need to realise HP Touchsmart tx2 are Touch computers also. So do not move your post from here. Let us know if you are still having troubles with your upgrade. Thank you frrw

I understand that you are looking into using your HP TouchSmart IQ500 AiO PC as a monitor to another HP Computer. The answer is "NO" you may be able to connect a computer to it using an adapter like an HDMI to USB adapter, but I was unable to locate the functionality to allow you to switch inputs on this computer.

What is HP's position on this machine and Win8?
I have one of these machines running Win8 64-bit, but it often gives problems.
Video driver issues with the screen going blank(which I learn by reading other posts, is quite a common issue with Win8 on the TouchSmart machines), and recently, sound problems, where the sound just mutes by itself, and there is nothing you can do to make the sound work again. Sometimes, if you wait a while it works again, but the sound can just fail half way through a movie for no apparent reason. There is NO warning, wierd sounds or anything - it just dies and you can't get sound again from that point. Rebooting SOMETIMES fixes the problem, but only with about a 75% success rate. It is NOT the application causing the problem with the sound - no applicaiton that uses sound will output it - not even the Windows Sound app in Control Panel.
So, at the end of the day, can someone at HP please confirm for me if this model machine is actually compatible with Win8?
I am guessing that it is NOT supported at this stage, as I have not been able to find any Win8 specific drivers for this model machine, unless I am not looking in the right place, and that is quite possible!!!!

If you want to restore the original operating system after upgrading, you must create HP recovery media before you upgrade.
Please note that if you purchased your system prior to October 1, 2011, HP has not tested these PCs or developed Windows 8 upgrade instructions or drivers for them. Upgrading such systems may be difficult or impossible.

Doesn't it use an external AC Adapter? If so, all you should need to use in another country is an adpater plug to match the wall socket.

Hello, I have such problem. My TouchSmart IQ500 when turned on shows only startup screen.

When I turn on the TouchSmart IQ500, it shows only startup screen.
Pressing F11 (System recovery) does not affect anything.
Pressing F10 - it writes entering setup... and nothing more happens
Pressing F9 - also no response.
Please tell me what can be done?

It sounds a LOT like a dead hard drive, running diagnostics would be a good place to start.

Multitouch Trackpad, Windows XP and spurious selections

I've got a MBP unibody, 15", running Windows XP in Bootcamp. I've updated to the most recent Multitouch trackpad driver. What I'm seeing is if I swipe across the trackpad rather quickly and raise my finger during the swipe (the finger doesn't come to a stop before lifting off the trackpad) if the cursor ends up on a selectable item (a link, an icon, etc.) then that item is erroneously "clicked" (though there was no click involved). Thus, quickly tracking over a web page might end up clicking a link even though I was only sliding my finger. Or, if I've got a window selected and I swipe all the way to the edge of the screen, the cursor stops at the edge of the screen but then inserts a click right there, effectively deselecting the window. I've not seen this reported anywhere and wondering if anyone has seen this phenomenon. It's easily reproducible on my machine.

I don't have a fix, but I have called Apple about this problem.
They have a bad response to it too. Out of the 10 people I've talked to, 9 of them blame Windows for my problems and refer me to Microsoft to get an adequate driver for the APPLE trackpad.
Sorry I can't help, but Apple can't help me and I'm left with an expensive and useless laptop for college since I cannot even use the trackpad in Windows for some of my college engineering programs.

Multitouch in Windows 7

Hi. Is it possible to get multitouch touchpad (2 finger swipe scrolling) to work in Windows 7 ? I've read something about Synaptics drivers, but I guess thats only for the newer alu models, beacause it didn't work on my old white macbook.

Yes, I can scroll using the two finger swipe. There doesn't seem to be a setting for it specifically but I have it working. You will need to make sure that the Boot Camp service is running.

TouchSmart IQ500 Series PC & HDMI

I'm attempting to connect another monitor to my Touchsmart however, I cannot seem to locate the HDMI connection? Does the IQ500 series HAVE an HDMI connection? And if not, how may I utilize a dual monitor with this computer?

In System Preferences>Fax & Print, Right click or Control+click on the Printers list Sidebar, choose Reset Printing System.
if you hold option and click the "-" tab it resets the printing system.

So I Was On My Desktop And I Accidentally Hit The Power Button Sending It Into Sleep Mode, As Soon As The Screen Went Black It Touched It To Take It Out Of Sleep Mode But It Stayed Black Even Though It Was Running. I **bleep** It Off By Holding The Power Off And Then I Cut It Back On To See If It Worked But It Was Still Black, I Tried Unplugging It, Same Thing. Whenever I Turn It On It Goes Straight Into Sleep Mode Then Cuts Off Then Cuts Back On By Itself. I Need help

Best advise to give you right now is that you need to do a power drain on your unit.
In order to do that...
1. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds
2. Unplug the power cable for 10 seconds
3. Press and hold again the power button for 5 seconds
4. Plugin the power cable and turn on the unit
If same issue happened again, please consult or call HP support line so that they can give you some assistance like repair option
