Multitouch

Is multitouch limited to AIR only?
I was wondering if it is possible to use the multitouch gestures, etc in a .swf loaded into the flash OCX?
I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. My Googling always finds links referring to AIR, but I wasn't sure if it was strictly AIR-only.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!
Marcus

The w520 touch pad is the worst I have used on any notebook.   If you have used any macbook pro or recent dell or toshiba touchpad, you are in for a shock.
The problems are this:
It is way too small,
has nobbles which make my fingers sore,
is innacurate and not smooth
when you enable 2 finger gestures, it is simply broken.  Some times they work, some times they dont.  You try two finger scrolling say 4 times to get it to work once, then suddenly it shoots to the bottom of the page.  I tried all the available options - it simply sucks.  Dont even bother enabling it.  I suggest trying the google SW.
The trackpad on my cheap and chearfull Toshiba R830, which is half the price of the X220 and very similar spec, is stunning good by comparison.  Its big enough, smooth, accurate, and multitouch works as beautifully as any mac.
I bought the W520 to do photo work on the couch so I could be with my family of an evening instead of stuck in my office.  The poor touch pad is not suitable for this work, and I am stuck in the office.
Im guessing that the Lenovo engineers only use the nipple, and have never used  a macbook.  I used the Toshiba nipple for about 4years some 10 years ago.  Since then II have pretty bad arthiritis in this finger, and cant use the nipple for pain.
If you need to use the trackpad, then I dont recommend buying a W520.  Get anything else.

  • Photoshop Pressure Doesn't work on Multitouch Tablet Pc's!

    I have a Hp tx2z. Its got a screen made by Ntrig and not by wacom. So instead of using the standard wintab api it uses standard hid based USB instructions.
    The Dell Latitude Xt and XT2 both use these screens.
    I was told by the people at Ntrig that Adobe is in fact working on writing photoshop to read data from the Ntrig digitizer.
    Ntrig has been very negligent during the whole course of trying to resolve this problem and I believe that they are blowing smoke. I don't think that adobe is working on this and am wanting to confirm this.
    I love LOVE LOVE photoshop, I have spent years learning the software and learning to draw in photoshop is one of the greatest joys I have. There is no software out there like it. Will someone please contact me and let me know whats going on?
    is there indeed a fix on the way? Myself and 10's of thousands of Dell and Hp users would be ecstatic beyond belief if we could go back to using photoshop. (currently no use in upgrading) This way we won't have to find another way or another inferior program to try to satisfy our artistic needs.
    I hope to hear back soon!

    No, I meant what i said,
    this problem is two sided and we have two companies who can do something to fix the problem. One company is great, and one company is unbelievably arrogant. Ntrig I don't like. Adobe i do like.
    regardless... both companies are loosing money and clout due to the issue. Someone on the good side "Adobe" can fix the problem just as readily as Ntrig. The first one to fix it has the most to gain and its not an overly large problem to fix for those with the know how.
    I agree that Ntrig is arrogant and stubborn. Adobe I'm hoping with take the steps and play big brother to this problem and not little sister waiting for an inferior less mature company to take responsibility. We both know it is their problem, but adobe is still loosing out because of it. And adobe, you can fix their mistake and benefit from it.
    Win 7 will likely find its biggest success off this digitizers multitouch setup. whether i like them or not, you can only help yourself out by updating the wonderful unrivaled software that you create to be even more flexible then it already is.
    I can't wait to use photoshops brushes again. =)

  • Received X1 Carbon (2014/"New") model 20A70035US but missing MultiTouch!

    I purchased a 20A70035US TopSeller ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2014 about a month ago.  It just arrived today as supply was very tight on it.  The unit looks great, but the MultiTouch display, which is documented in PSREF, and was also in the description of the product with the reseller I bought it from, is missing.  Touching the screen does nothing, and Windows reports no touch input device.  The laptop is a bit lighter than I was expecting too, leading me to believe MT is physically absent.
    I have a T440s already so I know how MultiTouch is supposed to work!  I ran System Update to make sure no drivers were missing, and it found nothing for the display.
    Could Lenovo really have shipped a TopSeller model with the WRONG display?!  I desperately need to get this laptop into the field and as it stands now, I have a useless machine in front of me.  GRRR.

    My reseller was able to secure stock of the i7 model for me (20A70035US), so I bought that one instead and will return the i5 model for a refund.  I am just waiting for RMA approval from Lenovo so it can be sent back for processing.
    The i7 unit I received looks great and the touchscreen works!

  • Macbook pro 8,2, trackpad doesn't do multitouch

    Hi, all.  I have a Macbook pro 8,2 (2011, 15 inch model).  The trackpad works fine as a single-button mouse.  I can move the the cursor, click by pressing down the bottom portion of the trackpad.  However, Synaptics and mtrack don't do anything.  I write the trackpad setting in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf, which is like this:
    Section "InputClass"
    Identifier "Touchpads"
    MatchIsTouchpad "on"
    MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
    Driver "synaptics"
    EndSection
    Setting driver to "mtrack" does the same thing (i.e. nothing...).
    It seems to me that the trackpad is not identified as a touchpad.  I know the device node corresponding to it is /dev/input/event1. (I checked by cat /dev/input/event1, then moving the cursor).  So I tryed to delete that "MatchIsTouchpad" line, and change "event*" to "event1", so that synaptics is forced to use on that device.  Then I cannot move the cursor at all, nor click anything.  I'd appreciate it if anyone can shine some light on this.

    Touchpad with bcm5974 from their git, it is correctly recognized as trackpad (not pointer) and I managed to get it working correctly with multitouch driver (mtrac refused to deliver even right click).

    MODULES=( b43 bcm5974 hid_apple usbhid )
    Hi, using the bcm5974 from git didn't help for me.
    What did you exactly do to make the touchpad be recognized like a touchpad? My system still detects it as "pointer" device.
    What I did was downloading the git, inside there was a bcm5974.c file that I substituted in place of the one in the kernel and then I recompiled the kernel source. Is this wrong?
    If it is how can I make it work?

  • How To use the going back function in Safari (multitouch)? Going back on Websites ist only possible using the arrow Key on the left corner but not by using the sweep function like it is possible in macOS.

    How can i use the going back function in Safari like it is possible in MacOS? On the Mac i can chance back to previous Websites by sweeping with two Fingers. Unfortuntely is this Not possible on the ipad. I tried with one and to fingers but it doesn't work.
    The multitouch function is switched on but still Not working. What is wrong? Thx for help.

  • Multitouch gestures in iCal and Lion

    In iCal the multitouch swiping (three fingers left and right) goes the wrong way in Lion. If Apple is to be consistent with their iOS interface a swipe to the left should move forward a week (or month or day), not backwards.
    Is there a way that we can change this behaviour at all?

    Alpha Plus,
    I totally agree with you - and it bothers me a lot that the multitouch gestures work in the opposite way in iCal. Does anyone know how to fix this? Apple?

  • How do I set up my MacBook Air to use Sparrow and Reeder's multitouch gestures?

    Just set up my 11" air for the first time, and I just can't seem to get these apps multitouch fanciness to work without holding down the ALT key. I have them working flawlessly on my iMac with Magic Trackpad. The settings all seem to be the same between the two computers too.

    Ok, in this case your iMac will be performing as an application server. As such, it will need to be "reachable" from the Internet. This is typically done in one of two ways: 1) It is assigned a static Public IP address, or 2) It is assigned a static Private IP address.
    In the first method, your iMac will be like any other publically available server (Web, E-Mail, etc.) To accomplish this, you would need for your ISP to provide you with a static Public IP. You can then configure the AirPort Extreme to allow remote clients to access this server by creating a DMZ for the server. This would fully expose your iMac to the Internet.
    In the second method, you would assign the iMac a static Private IP address that is just outside of the default range of the AirPort's DHCP service. You would then configure the AirPort for port mapping. Which ports that will be needed to be mapped will depend on what your application's support tells you.

  • Multitouch drivers for Windows 8 using Bootcamp?

    Macbook Pro
    Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013
    Processor  2.3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  Intel Iris Pro 1024 MB
    Is there any drivers that will enable multitouch on Windows 8 using bootcamp? The problem I often run into occurs when I attemp to click with one finger and move a file with another finger. On OSX this works flawlessly making it so simple to move around files.

    Did you download and install the Windows Support software in accordance with the Boot Camp instructions? If so, you have a Boot Camp Control Panel icon ion your Windows task bar. Open the control panel and set your trackpad options how you want them configured.

  • Best practice for developing and testing AIR iOS multitouch apps

    I'm considering switching our iPhone development practice from XCode/Objective C to AIR to leverage a larger pool of in house talent. The biggest concern I have right now is testing multitouch functionality - the prospect of having to do incremental builds, provisioning and deployment just to test and tweak the multitouch aspects of our projects is daunting, if not downright depressing.
    What tools / services or techniques have been developed to facilitate what is undoubtedly one of the most common issues with developing for multitouch iOS using a desktop-based AIR development environment?

    @tomaugerdotcom
    Something like this might help: https://testflightapp.com/
    Concevably, you could roll your own internal service if that particular one doesn't suit you. (I don't have any knowledge about how they are doing it, but it shouldn't be hard to figure out since Apple's constraining rules would only allow a few possibilities.)
    USB app install and debugging isn't supported on iOS. You have to use wireless.
    Another option specifically for multi-touch dev/testing, is to use an Android device.

  • MBP (pre-multitouch) display won't turn on.

    Hello, I have a MBP (purchased in February 2008, the last model before they introduced multitouch trackpad features). 2 days ago, I went to wake my computer from sleep, but the display would not turn on. I checked the brightness, and then rebooted. The computer turned on, but the display still remained off. I could still operate the computer using my keyboard shortcuts (for example, playing music through iTunes) with the screen completely off, so the computer itself is still working. After many attempts, the screen came back on after a reboot. I then managed to run Onyx, Disk Warrior, and also checked to see if I needed the 1.51 firmware update discussed in other posts regarding this issue, which I did not. Currently, the display is not turning on. How can I resolve this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -P.

    For my MBPro earlier this year it was more than the newest comparable model ($AUD2500 for the repair) - lowest of the 15" models. Fortunately mine was covered under accidental damage insurance on my house contents insurance (a drink spillage) so was replaced by the insurance company. But if there had been no damage caused by me Apple would have repaired it at no cost as I had Applecare. Interestingly they wouldn't have given me a new computer even though the end cost would have been less!

  • Multitouch fails intermittently when resuming from Standby on Win 7 x64

    I've got Windows 7 64-bit SP1 and Boot Camp 3.2 on a late-2010 Macbook Air 13". Intermittently (about one out of ten times, and more likely if the system has been in standby for an extended period), the multitouch driver will fail to run on resume. When this happens, the [Trackpad] tab is missing from the Boot Camp Control Panel, there is one fewer HID-compliant mouse in the Device Manager, and all multitouch features fail on the trackpad (only basic pointing and mechanical clicks work).
    The only method I've found to restore multitouch functionality is to reboot the operating system. I've tried the technique described here: http://brandonlive.com/2007/02/04/macbook-and-vista-fixing-the-trackpad-on-resum e/ but with no luck.
    Apple tech support says it's a bug with the Microsoft OS and that I should contact Microsoft Tech Support for resolution, which is basically just a cop-out. Even if it is a bug with the OS, it should be the responsibility of the hardware/driver vendor to identify and report that bug back to the OS vendor.
    Does anyone know what I can do to keep the multitouch driver working on resume?
    Message was edited by: jaraco

    It seems since BootCamp 3.3, this problem was resolved. It has happened very rarely since the update and when it does occur, I can restore the mouse driver by entering standby and resuming again.

  • Enabling multitouch in adobe flash cs4

    how can i develop multitouch in my adobe flash cs4? currently i am also using the flash develop IDE, my adobe flash cs4 does not have the ability to publish in flash player 10.3 which i think it is the player that supports multitouch?

    http://rhuno.com/flashblog/2011/04/04/how-to-compile-for-flash-player-10-2-with-flash-cs5/
    The above way you have to proceed to have flash player 10.3 as a target from your publish settings. The above only explained how to get 10.2 google it for 10.3 swc and configure the way proceed above.

  • How to use iphone as a Multitouch Trackpad for my mac?

    Hi, I have an old macbook white with SnowLeo which doesn't have the multi touch gesture trackpad but I have an iPhone 4 and I tought maybe there's a way to use it as a trackpad. Does anybody know any good apps for this purpose?

    There are a number of options... here are a few:
    http://www.mbpowertools.net/iDevices/WiFiTouchpad.html

    Both of the above are available in the App Store.  You may want to contact the developers to confirm that they will support multitouch on systems that do not natively support it.

  • Wrong multitouch functioning

    Hi everybody. Recently, I've bought an iPad mini.
    I've observed some problems in multitouch function, I think this is related with the iOS and I would like report this problem to Apple.
    The problem is:
    If you are using an application and you close another opened one  (pushing two times the home button or sliding four fingers up on the screen, and closing one application) this will not be closed. You can see the application, like if you don't close that, using the multitouch gesture to change between applications (sliding four fingers to left or right). The only way to close the application is going to home screen.
    I think this is wrong and I would like report to apple about this functioning.
    What do you think? Do you have the same problem? You think this is functioning right?
    Regards. :)

    Had the exact same issue.
    Have found a work around:
    Just turn off bluetooth and turn it back on and should restore the tap-drag.
    Hope this helps
    Seems to be an issue with the drivers for the multitouch not initializing properly when coming out of sleep.
    Hope Apple resolves it.

  • Flash Builder 4 multitouch device support on Windows 7

    I try to run an AIR2.0 multitouch photo app on Windows 7 with Multitouch LCD Dell SX2210T. Unfortunately no gesture was detected.
    I could use my finger to drag and drop the photo, but not pan, zoom, rotate?
    How does Windows 7 interact with AIR 2 for multitouch gestures? Is there any driver that I need to install?

    Hi,
    the example on that site is pretty crappy as its incomplete/broken, I just quickly modified it so that it works(sort of), you need to create a new air project then create a new mxml file call it whatever you want or just use the 'ScatterviewImage.mxml' past the following code in then add the components to your air app and away you go

  • Problem with Multitouch.inputMode in AS3

    Hi everybody.
    My problem is that when i write 2 differents "Multitouch.inputMode" in my script (for Androïd), in every case, only the first written works.... How can i do to conserve the two behaviors ? (i'm a new french user of AS3...)
    An example of my very simple AS3 code
    stop();
    Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.GESTURE;
    oc_carte.addEventListener(TransformGestureEvent.GESTURE_PAN, fl_PanHandler_5);
    function fl_PanHandler_5(event:TransformGestureEvent):void
        event.currentTarget.x += event.offsetX;
        event.currentTarget.y += event.offsetY;
    oc_carte.addEventListener(TransformGestureEvent.GESTURE_ZOOM, fl_ZoomHandler_2);
    function fl_ZoomHandler_2(event:TransformGestureEvent):void
        oc_carte.scaleX *= event.scaleX;
        oc_carte.scaleY *= event.scaleY;
    Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.TOUCH_POINT;
    oc_retourmenu.addEventListener(TouchEvent.TOUCH_TAP, fl_TapHandler_1);
    function fl_TapHandler_1(event:TouchEvent):void
        MovieClip(this.root).gotoAndPlay(1, "Séquence 2");

    Thank you for this.  I still do it...
    Berst regards.
