Multitude of Problems, including the infamous error -8

Good evening all,
My iChat and I are currently having a bit of a rocky relationship when it comes to video-chatting. To begin:
When I would attempt to video chat, iChat would randomly crash. By crash, I mean, unexpectedly quit, and the wonderfully helpful popup would offer to send Apple information about the issue, offer to re-open iChat, or just allow me to close the box. You know the window.
It seemed that the first connection would last the longest, and then iChat would progressively fail quicker and quicker, until AIM wouldn't let me sign in with that user name again, because I went over the login flood limit. (By which I mean, I can video chat, and have completed the connection, and had the chat run for 3 minuets fine, it just at some point fails)
Of course, recently this problem has stopped, and I've gotten a new problem (and because of this, I haven't been able to get the error log from the unexpected iChat quit error, I only have the log from the iChat error 8).
Tech Data:
College Network (surprisingly fast college network, I've seen download speeds up to 2 mbps)
MacBook Pro with airport card running to Airport Express, running to ethernet to college network
I attempted to change my Quicktime streaming settings, no change
iChat video bandwidth limit set to 'none'
Thank you all very much for your help, error log follows:

Binary Images Description for "iChat":
Is the important bit.
It implies your end can not contact the third party server that is involved.
It goes like this.
iChat sends the Visible invite on port 5678 on the UDP protocol
Your iChat then moves to port 5060 and tries to contact the SNATMAP server run by Apple to "negotiate" the ports to use for the A/V chat.
Now as you have no details your have not contacted this server or rather you have not got a reply back to confirm the ports your iChat wants to use.
Now if your Mac firewall and router if you use one limit this to just the base SIP port (5060) it might pay to open 5060-5063 for all the SIP ports but this is not always required for outgoing calls.
The other problem with these ports is that they are an International Standard for all VoIP apps and devices.
Some Adapters think that all SIP data is for a phone and stop it going to a computer.
Some ISPs now offer VoIP services and charge extra for it as a way of getting revenue back for long range calls by blocking the ports.
So Do you have a VoIP adapter ?
Has the college starting using an IP/VoIP phone service ?
Or have they just blocked the ports ?
If AIM on PC users can video chat then look into Discrimination by default or lack of knowlege.
Also consider that there may not be enough Bandwidth now that everyone is at college and trying to call home.

  • The infamous error -8

    I am having a problem with the infamous error 8. I can chat with friends that have iChat, but i can't chat with my sister who is using AIM. She can chat using AIM with other friends who have a mac, but not me, so i believe the problem must be on my end.
    I have tried most of what I have read on these forums to no avail. Here is my error message. Please advise...

  • I can't burn purchased tunes on a disc because of the infamous "error 4310". Why are loyal customers copntinually frustrated with the lack of or nonexistent answer to our dilemma?  ITunes, why offer "support" if you are unwilling to give it?

    I cannot burn purchased tunes on a blank disc because of the infamous "error 4310".  Countless ITunes customers are frustrated that there are no  "free" answers for this dilemma. Unfortunately, the  "support"  that is so highly promoted and encouraged is merely community members venting their frustrations.
    ITuines this is not at all professional on your part.

    Hi to everyone that replied and many thanks for your input.
    I have bought well known and established artists CD's containing their music, track lists and artwork files from branded retailers. When I have loaded them into iTunes, it automatically loaded the artwork files FROM the CD I bought, so all that nonsense about audio CD's having nothing but audio isn't accurate. No, they were not DVD's either. I will endeavor to find a software package that CAN do what I need as an independent artist. iTunes just doesn't cut the mustard for me, even though it's free. I do know about issues with copyright and artists protection, but there should be something that can be done or made in iTunes, so it doesn't infringe copyright of artists, but can be used by artists like myself without the software being abused by freeloaders. Oh well, maybe when I'm too old for this malarkey...

  • The INFAMOUS Error 1904

    Yes, I too cannot use the "Blackberry Desktop Software ( 4.7 or any other version )".  I get all the same errors that I keep finding many others are getting.  Microsoft's fault.. Blackberry's.. I really don't care, I would just appreciate some software that WORKS so that I can use the Blackberry 8900 Titanium that I paid for.  I am using Vista Ultimate 64-bit ( FULLY UPDATED!!! )
    Here are the errors preventing me from INSTALLING this well thought out product:
    I have read and attempted the 'solutions' from several threads on several different forums, including:
    this one - http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=2...
    this one - http://www.appdeploy.com/messageboards/tm.asp?m=34392&mpage=1&key=&#34392
    this one - http://www.coveo.com/en/support/techcorner/ces3/Error%201904%20Module%20%5Bfilepath%5D%20failed%20to...   ( these ppl have the same prob dif product.. so its obviously Microsoft's fault, still why does Blackberry not take this as and the prior feedback as a 'clue' and CHANGE THE SOFTWARE!!! )
    followed up with this one - http://forums.techarena.in/windows-xp-support/721509.htm
    sigh.. this one - http://www.technologyquestions.com/technology/windows-vista/222383-blackberry-dsktp-mgr-4-3-error-19...
    and this one - http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=1...
    which leads to this one - http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=KB03928&sliceId=2&docTy...  ( ugh ).
    so ya..  after all that, here I am, still at square one.  any other ideas?  I'm even willing to use alternative software if I have to, but it should be able to perform every function.  FYI - Your customers should not be asked to dance around so many Holes.  If Microsoft is putting out a Bad product ( hmm ), yet it is used by nearly Everyone, perhaps certain common errors should tell Blackberry developers and decision makers to create a different piece of software that does not rely on something that causes so many people the same problems.  Perhaps it's time to start from scratch and make something new ( that works 80% of the time at least ).  The world is full of programmers, developers, free-thinkers that could do this ( and for free at that ).  Why can't you?
    Any and all help is appreciated.  Thx in advance.  This is Quite Frustrating.... : )

  • There was a problem including the file images.asp in your message. Why?

    When I paste web info that includes images I get this message and if I continue the message is sent without the images. This has been going on for several months. Forwarding messages with images gets the same message and the images are not sent. This used to work.
    WLM has no problem with the same data.

    When I paste a page from PCWorld into my write window it is all there. I get the error when I send. The same scenario with WLM works fine. This only started with TB several months ago.
    My TB profile has been around for years thanks to Mozbackup. How could I get my Local Folders backed up then build a new TB from scratch and then import the Local Folders? All the other folders would take care of themselves Since my computers are all using IMAP.

  • CC Desktop - The infamous error code 50 is back again

    Hi,
    I initially posted this in the wrong forum. Sorry.
    Year after year, each time a new version of CC Desktop is released, the same mess has to be sorted out : the update refuses to install with error code 50. Uninstalling and re-installing doesn't help. Each time, I have to uninstall CC Desktop, download and run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool (which doesn't help very much), delete the CC Desktop folders (because the cleaner tool doesn't seem to clean much), scan the registry and delete what's related to CC Desktop, run CCleaner to be sure and then re-install.
    A lot of users have the same problem since ages and nothing changes. Please tell the person who is responsible for this crap to think about another job. Why make the installation of this piece of code so complicated ? If they are unable to create a working installation program, there are tools on the market to do this cleanly.

    However, if you are still facing this issue kindly let us know, so that we can try to fix it up for you.
    Thanks Atul,
    For the moment, the only method that works to fix this issue each time a new version (Windows 7 64-bit) is released is as follows :
    1. Uninstall Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop
    2. Download and run the Adobe CC Cleaner Tool (against Creative Cloud only)
    3. Manually delete the Adobe\Adobe Creative Cloud folder under Program Files (x86) - I noticed that sometimes there are multiple folders with that name ending with a different version number. Anyway, the Cleaner Tool doesn't clean very much, apparently, since it doesn't even remove the program folder itself.
    4. Manually clean the registry from all references to Creative Cloud Desktop
    5. Run CCleaner
    6. Reboot
    7. Download and run the Creative Cloud installer before running anything else.
    If this can help someone...

  • Here are the instructions on how to fix the newest update problem with the .dll error message:, Here are the instructions on how to fix the newest update problem with the .dll error message:

    Go to My Computer, Uninstall Programs, and uninstall in this exact order :
          Itunes
          Apples Software Update
         Apple Mobile Device Support
         Bonjour (my system required a reboot on this one)
         Apple Application Support
    Reboot your computer, go to the official Itunes website (make sure it's the Apple Itunes Website and not some other one!), and reinstall Itunes.
    I got the same .dll error message after the reinstall, but my Itunes was downloaded successfully and I was able to Sync my phone. : )
    Good luck to you and God Bless!
    (Sad that we have to come to the Discussion Forum to figure this all out instead of Apple taking care of their business and helping us out, huh?)

    Someone else said they did a system restore to a previous update, and then a java update and that worked for them, saying they were going to stick with the earlier version of itunes until they get the bugs out of the new one.  I t tried restores and that didn't work for me either, but maybe it will work for you.  Good luck and I hope you get it working soon..

  • Problems with the tag error-page in web.xml

    hi all, here is my code in my web.xml:
    <error-page>
    <exception-type>java.sql.SQLException</exception-type>
    <location>/ex.html</location>
    </error-page>
    it seems not to work, because my JavaBean where its the code to connect to my database and execute a query has an error i made it at purpose to see if the error page works, my JavaBean reports an error: column name not valid but the error-page didnt work, i use a servlet which instantiates my JavaBean and then my servlet redirects to a JSP, obviouslly if an error occurs my servlet didnt redirect to any place, here is the code into my JavaBean, if anyone could help me i really appreciate it...
    public BeanLista seleccionaCliente()
    int nBandera = 0;
    BeanList lp = new BeanList();
    String cadena = "SELECT CODCLI, APEPATI FROM TESO.CLIENTE WHERE CODCLI like '2001120%' ";
    try
    context = new InitialContext();
    pool = (DataSource)context.lookup("jdbc/PRUEBADS");
    catch (NamingException ne)
    ne.printStackTrace();
    System.out.println("No se ha podido efectuar el Pool de Conexiones");
    try
    cc = pool.getConnection();
    ResultSet rs = cc.createStatement().executeQuery(cadena);
    cc.close();
    while(rs.next())
    BeanPrueba bp = new BeanPrueba();
    bp.setCodcli(rs.getString(1));
    bp.setApepat(rs.getString(2));
    lp.add(bp);
    return lp;
    }catch(SQLException sql){
    System.out.println("A ocurrido un error de SQL");
    System.out.println("Error de SQl capturado como : "+sql.getMessage());
    //sql.printStackTrace();
    return lp;
    }

    Can it be because you are catching your exception? Why don't you try throwing the same exception in the catch block and let the server handle it for you.
    Just a guess... Hope it works.

  • Funny, got all the 'Publishing Error' messages but websites get published

    Hello all.
    I have 3 .mac websites using iWeb.
    Last night had trouble publishing, because some "navigation bar error", so I 'publish all', still failed. So every site every page on the left panel is in red.
    Brought the Domain file to the office to try and publish, still failed. Mounted iDisk and trash everything, then tried 'publish all' again, still getting some error messages, then tried last try 'publish', reported a network error.
    All the icons on the left panel is still in red
    *But funnily, a check on my websites and all of them have been published!*
    *So how am I going to "update" my iWeb/Domain file, because they are all in red, thinking they are not published yet?*
    Cheers

    I am having the same problem, after weeks of everything being OK. Suddenly, in the last 24 hours I get a variety of messages, including the "Unknown Error" message and one called "Lock Error". Beats me what THAT is.
    When I look at the url with Safari, it all seems to be fully updated, but iWeb certainly THINKS there has been an error, and leaves all the pages that have been altered in any way in the familiar red highlight color.
    Trying to contact customer support. Could take a while, of course!
    Good luck!, Charlie

  • Entry Lock Problem on the XI Server

    Hi,
    Getting this error in the XI system. The error below is for the file adapter. Getting similar error for the JDBC as well.
    Transmitting the message to endpoint http://<SERVER>:<PORT>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry using connection File_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.aii.af.ra.ms.api.RecoverableException: ENTRY_LOCK
    Have tried restarting the Java engine on the XI system. The parameters for the Integration Engine configuration are also setup properly. Any ideas on how to resolve the "ENTRY_LOCK" problem.
    thx,
    Sumeet

    Hi Michal/Chris/Aaron,
    Have already checked the settings for Entry_lock under the integration engine configuration. The parameter is not set to block incoming messages. Also messages that are giving a problem with the ENTRY_LOCK error are in the 'To Be Delivered' state. Have tried resending/cancel these messages, but that also does not work. Also the problem is since this stuck message is an EOIO, others are going in the 'holding' state. Will soon end up having to deal with a lot of messages in the 'holding' state.
    Any other suggestions on how to troubleshoot this. Thx
    Sumeet
