Muse and eCommerce without Coding

We have created small sites using DW but not being coders prefer to use Muse where possible.
We have been asked to create a new ecommerce site for a client. The products are all downloadable files; there are no physical products to fulfill. They have a site that already sells some of their products but they want to move away from the current proprietary ecommerce solution and web design combination.
The BC eCommerce option looks attractive but I want to be sure we can deliver before saying yes to the client. These are my concerns:
How easy is it to create the forms necessary to expedite payments etc without coding, is an understanding of PHP required?
We will inherit the existing payment gateway. What are the technical issues involved in payment processing?
We have a Creative Cloud/CS6 subscription and last time I enquired the BC that this uses seemed to be on a different track to the standalone BC, is this still the case?
Sorry for being a bit long-winded but I couldn’t compress my questions any further.
PS. Is there an option for a subscription based model for downloading products to run in conjunction to a payment per download one?

Checkout forms are a built in part of BC, no PHP coding required.
The payment gateways currently supported are: http://www.businesscatalyst.com/features/payment-gateways
To build a webcommerce site you have to setup a new bc account, as current creative cloud subscriptions offer free webBasics sites that can not be upgraded. Here's some info on the partner program as well: http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/business-catalyst/faq.html#partner-program
Products inside the commerce module can be marked as downloadable files right out of the box.
Regarding the posibility of adding a subscription based model, you could setup subscribing customers as wholesalers and set a wholesaler price as well for all products( of value "0")

You can use your own server to host websites with typekit fonts. The only thing that requires BC hosting is the use of their form features.

Creating a ecommerce website with Muse and BC

Hello,
I would like to create my site in Muse, then add a catalog in with business catalyst but i don't know if i will be able to continue editing the site in Muse once i upgrade it to webcommerce plan in business catalyst.
I also would like to know how it works when i integrate the catalog in Muse. Do i add a HTML code in a page in Muse then the visitor will be able to navigate in the catalog in the same Muse page? What are the steps to follow to implement a catalog in a Muse website?
I already watched some tutorials but never found specific answers.

You can kind of do something but Muse is more of a beginer tool to build basic websites for graphic designers. Its not really a web building tool.
There is a lot to eCommerce and you need to really understand BC, its modules, UI design, HTML, CSS and Javascript to implement eCommerce on BC correctly and get stuck in with coding.

Managing metadata with Muse and BC

Would like to see BC and Muse be able to sync the metadata, not just content updates.

Hi Wenshu... I am sure someone will be along here shortly with a "right" answer, but here is my 2 cents. On part 2 of your question, I just say something like "Click HERE to e-mail me" and on the HERE part, I type the link mailto:[email protected] (filling in your actual e-mail address, of course AND no matter how many times I try to edit this, it still keeps putting the hyperlink in my response here!!! That entire link has no spaces... that envelope icon is supposed to be helpful, but it's making me nuts) in the hyperlink box at the top of the Muse design page so that the person's default e-mail client will pop up to send me an e-mail when they click on that link on my site.
As far as part one goes, I don't do any login forms.... but I do create and use long forms for like applications and whatnot and I do have to code them outside of Muse because when I try to drop the code into the HTML box, it ends up not looking right. I look forward to hearing the replies on the login box issue.

Why did adobe release Muse and BC wont integrate?

I still to this day wonder why BC features are not easily integrated in Muse. I know there is a way to get this done without all of this drama and confusion. Adobe is quick to take my money for Ecommerce on BC knowing that I don't know the code, so it is like giving up a kidney to add the features. There should be a separate Muse plus BC section with clear instructions for a non-coder to add these features. Those that know the code good for you, use Dreamweaver or Muse, if I had known I was not suppose to take Muse as a serious solution to building a website that includes simple if not automated features of BC without all this drama I would have never looked at it. Its crazy how Terry White and Micheal Chaise give these great tutorials on building product catalogs and lightboxes but neither of them never say you can't connect them to BC without extensive knowledge of the code.

Your CC account is not just Muse, and to have issue with eCommerce in Muse to ditch CC is a bit of an overaction consider all the software.
You have ... which are great editions for any web designer/developer or budding designer/developer. But that decision is enitrly up to you of course.

I have no idea what you mean and why you bring up adobe flash and Apple products. Apple have still been succesfull and the web has worked just fine with out it.
Flash has advantages and disadvantages, but its an addon to browsers and a load on websites. A lot of its uses have faded away because you can do the same things nativly with CSS, CSS animations and javascript, canvas and HTML5 which is the way forward, and Video soon will be more HTML5 then Flash too.
Better performing but Flash will still have a place for some time.
With that in Mind you are aware as part of you Creative Cloud you have access to Edge Animate which can create flash like animation banners and more but using javascript and CSS instead of flash.
So Adobe are defiantly covering the basis and Edge Code I think (Brackets) is something that I hope Adobe continue to develop on because its a great application for coding.
The thing your asking is that you want to build a house but you do not want want to have all the trade knowledge or use all the trader tools to build your house. You want a machine you can press buttons on and do it for you.
The archietects and builders who do that... Well you can imagine what they would say to you.
Its very similar to web design and development. You can do some aspects of say an eCommerce site without code but is it a true eCommerce site? No.. Will you ever see it? you never know but you really need to get out of your head that you can build top end websites without ever doing any code. It is not going to happen and if you blog about this etc the web industry will not be very responsive to your plite unfortunatly, You will see the exact opposite in fact in responses to that.
eCommerce is A LOT more then a shopping cart and BC is a lot more then just a shopping cart. You not looked into the features the abilities etc, thats clear so its hard to explain to you because your not really interested in to what it takes to build an eCommerce site.
It is not about money, richness or requirements.
Muse right now only reads modules, it does not understand BC layouts and Tags, could it? Maybe with a fair bit of development but the setup etc.. It is just not viable.
It is not about learning Code, your not coding PHP or similar to get what you want, Its HTML, CSS and Javascript, this is learnt at college these days and is a standard requirement for good Design Jobs.

All these options and features etc. How are you going to be able to control and configure and properly set this up?
Products you have attrbutes, stock control, stock control on attributes, product variations, images, related products, catalogs..... Its feature packed. You have to spend some time in the BC admin setting this up.
This is not amature hour, Muse is a great tool to get people into the field but as I and others will tell you - If you want to do more you need to learn more. Refusing to learn the trade but wanting to do more in a trade, really is a strange thing to say.
It is also limited with the templates and you certainly need more out of them for these sorts of sites. I just think you really do not have enough knowledge of this industry , the web and building websites.
I can not say I want to run faster and not do anything to get faster and just expect it hey.
Muse will not have those features in the next update, you can read their side of Adobe and see what the team are working on. And you wont see people walking away.
I and the company I work for have and are continually helping people move forward with taking their BC's further and done a number of training sessions teaching people BC further and helping them move beyond Muse.
They all seem very happy and better for it doing great stuff and that is pleasing to say.
From my perspective Adobe has a lot more potential with the BC platform outside of Muse and coming updates show some great steps in this direction and Things like Edge Coding has some great potential to be the go to coding applications for many budding and existing web designers and developers moving away from even Dreamweaver.

Newspaper/News Type Site using Muse and BC

Trying to grasp the concept of how to achieve this is Muse and would greatly appreciate someones help. A potential client would like me to build a site for them. Easy right, but there is a catch. The sites content (that similar to a newspaper or general news site) will be updated daily and by the client and their team. I believe by using Business Catalyst I can achieve this but I need to know if it is too much for Muse and BC combined to handle. Definitely don't want to get in over my head.

the problem is that there are available very little information and instructions (= video tutorials) about Business Catalyst / Muse integration. We are working on online newspaper / magazine sector and we hope that Adobe will publish more video tutorials about above mentioned field (without Dreamweaver).

When I design with Muse and export as HTML Dreamweaver doesn't attach the style sheets when I open the files with Dreamweaver. Essentially when I design with Muse the files don't render the same with Dreamweaver. Is this a bug? Any work arounds?

Then you will have to install a local server and use live view. It's not that DW isn't rendering it or isn't attaching it, it's that Muse decided to use server-side processing to include it which is ok for a CMS practice when you are combining stylesheets for better caching, but it really isn't ideal for a single style sheet. This is a shortcoming of Muse and one of the reasons many professionals don't back the product at the moment. That and you can't actually buy Muse, so unless you are on a subscription you don't have it. It's trying to fill a void for those who don't want to invest in the professional design tools like Fireworks or Photoshop or Dreamweaver, but want a cross between them to make designs. If you have invested in the subscription though and want a better way to make layouts I highly recommend coding it yourself and using Fireworks or Photoshop to do the layout for you. There is an excellent tutorial on the devnet (3 parts) to show you how its done ( http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/dw_fw_css_pt1.html ). Once you start using Fireworks or Photoshop you will realize just how limited Muse is in design.

Will Apple create an app making software without coding?

Hello. I was wondering if Apple would make an app creating software. I'm a graphic designer and would love to do an app that showcase my portfolio with images, video, and music. I don't know anything about coding, I just want to create a nice looking portfolio app so I can present to my clients. There is a software called AppDesigner that looks easy to use but hasn't been updated in a long time. I would love to have something similar to AppDesigner and iWeb with cool features like fade-in/outs, animations and sounds. Please, Apple? That would make me really happy. Thank you

I should have also stated that if you want Apple to do something, you should send them feedback through the official channels https://www.apple.com/feedback; these are user contributed forums with very little input from Apple.
I'd like to know the secret to generating apps or applications without coding. Someone has to write the code to do what you want; it doesn't happen magically.
If no app exists that does what you want (you have checked the Mac App Store?), then someone will have to deem it important enough to put in the time and effort to create such an app or application.

Adding a search bar when using Muse and Business Catalyst

I am creating a site with Adobe muse and Business Catalyst integration for blogs and ecommerce. I know you can add a search bar using this tutorial from Muse Themes. However, will it search everything created between both Muse and Business Catalyst, or will it only search for Muse created content if inserted in Muse?
Does anyone know?

When you create a search option in a Business Catalyst site, it searches everyting in the site, all th contents of the site that is. So, whatever the content of the site is, it will be indexed for searching purposes, provided you used the BC search bar.

What is the difference between Muse and Edge

I have used, and still do, use Adobe products ranging from Premiere, Photoshop, ColdFusion, Dream Weaver, Encore, Acrobat Pro. I use WordPress mainly because its more SEO ready. How does Muse and Edge handle on-page SEO ?

Muse is a WYSIWYG application, where you can design and publish websites without writing code and it generates the code for you. Edge is for creating animated and interactive HTML5 content using JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS.

Thanks! That is a very good question you post. My boss asked me that and I am assuming that he is having issues with using wifi wherever he is at. My boss is the kind of person that when he asks something you look into it and ask him no questions...he's the only one asking questions! I had gotten a similar problem, except with "provider services", i believe, but i solved it by copying sqlite3.dll from E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support. doing that solved my first problem, but now i have been getting the error described in this topic (unable to load dataclass info... etc.). i tried reinstalling itunes (i already had 9.1.1, and thats what i reinstalled) by using the method described on apples site (using the "remove programs" tool in the control panel) and then downloading and installing itunes. when i opened it again, i still got the same error, and just now i got an error saying "the instruction at "0x00aadb6b" referenced memory at "0x00000008". the memory could not be read" it gave me the option to cancel and debug, or to press ok and terminate the program. I tried pressing cancel, and the popup went away but nothing else happened. a minute later the popup was back, so i pressed ok and itunes quit. Upon opening Itunes again, i got the very same error. sorry for the long post, but its really been bugging me. thanks for any help you might give, and if you need anymore info, feel free to contact me.

The only difference i can think of for these 2 scenarios is in case of AP with PO, the Invoice is entered using T Code MIRO, where as without a PO it is done through FB 60.
