Muse color incorrect

I'm trying to bring in a design from Photoshop to Muse, and it's rendering the colors incorrectly. For example, I have a very vibrant red, rasterized shape that Muse is rendering as a duller pink. I couldn't find any answers on why this is happening or how to fix it. Any tips? Thanks!

I tried it now with another image.
This is my original:
This is the same image after HTML-output by Muse:
And this is a screenshot. Left side Original in Photoshop, right side placed in Muse:
The colors of picture 1 and 2 are absolutely (visual and measured) identical
The colors of the screenshots differ a little bit (measured, but not visually, because a screenshot uses the monitor profile and not sRGB.
In my constellation, colors are absolutely ok.

  • Muse Color Management Problem

Is there a way to control how Muse handles color?
When using websafe background colors in Muse, the color renders drastically diffrent when exported and displayed in Safari and Chrome.
In addition my photographs are way too saturated when exported from Muse and displayed in those browsers. The original files display properly when used in any other way or in any other program, and they have sRGB profiles attached.
If there isn't a dialog for configuring the way Muse handles color management, it's extremely important that one is created or photographers are not going to be able to get accurate color.

That advice doesn't help with this issue. I don't need to use a color checker to verify that the colors are different. It's very obvious. I'm having the same issue this guy was having that was never addressed:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1250202
I actually think I figured it out. The problem is that Muse is color managing all of the colors displayed when working in the program, basically it's applying a profile, probably sRGB, to everything you see in Muse. That's a problem, because once the hex color code goes to the browser and tells it render a color like websafe color 0066cc, for example, the browser will render that color without  applying a profile to it.
The color shift amount will depend on the color, and websafe colors will shift less, but either way Muse shouldn't being color managing any color that the browser will render from hex code.
You can test this by taking a websafe hex code, lets use 0066cc, fill a small square with it in Photoshop, saving it as a Jpeg with an sRGB profile embedded, then discard the profile by going to:
PS/Edit/Assign Profile/Don't Color Manage This Document
Save a second Jpeg copy of that same color square without the profile.
Make three pages in Muse, one page with 0066cc entered as the BG fill in Muse; one with with the backgoung set to a tiled BG image in Muse using the the 0066cc square Jpeg with the embedded sRGB profile as the bg image; then the third page should be configured like the last with the 0066cc square Jpeg that's untagged without the profile, set it as the tiled bg image.
When you compare the 3 pages in a browser to the 3 page displays in Muse you'll notice that the only page that matches the Muse color is page 2 with the tiled bg image set to the 0066cc filled square Jpeg that has the sRGB profile embedded.
The reason why is that the browser is reading the embedded sRGB profile from the tiled BG image Jpeg and so it's color managing the browser fill, since it's a Jpeg not a hex code, Muse matches that one and on all three pages displayed in Muse, because it's color managing everything no matter what, regardless if there's a profle associated with that color or not.
This is just one color problem with Muse, I found another pretty bad one that I'm going to save for later...

  • Muse Color Problems

The colors that I specify in Muse shift when published to a live server. How can this be resolved?

My statement that what you encountered is unrelated to the other issues discussed here was simply a statement of fact for you, the others on this thread and those that read it in the future. It wasn't intended as a complaint. My apologies if it came across that way.
I thought Muse optimized all images.
For the most part, it does. In your case the original image contains transparency so it cannot be represented as a JPEG. It's already optimized as a semi-transparent PNG. Once you flatten the background color into the image so the end result is opaque, then that image can be represented in JPEG format. If the original image had been opaque PNG, by default Muse would have converted it to JPEG (assuming the end result made for a smaller file).
So there will be issues using any kind of fill transparency?
No. There are only issues when working with exceptionally large objects. Fill transparency on a 12,000 pixel tall ~1,000 pixel wide object will display the transparency incorrectly in Design view, but will output for Preview and for the final site with the correct transparency.

  • Photoshop interpreting monitor colors incorrectly

My issue is with my second monitor and the colors of  Photoshop files.  I am using a two monitor setup with my macbook laptop.
I process a Raw file using Lightroom 2.  I export a Jpeg and it  looks perfect when I open it in Preview, matching the Lightroom, when viewed on the second monitor screen.  But, when I open that file in Photoshop it looks about 15% desaturated, when viewed on the same 2nd monitor.
The really wierd kicker is that as I drag the photo from the Macbook screen to the second monitor screen, while in photoshop, it looks fine.  It only desaturates as I ungrab it (or unclick it if you prefer).  I am speculating that photoshop is interpreting the monitor profile incorrectly or something.....  any help out there?

So, I figured out a work around with the help of my friend.  He stated that Photoshop can only work with one monitor profile.  So I moved the arrangement of my displays so that the external display is the main one.  Now PHotoshop looks just like Lightroom.
My new question is... Is there a way to have photoshop read my external display without having it be the main display in the systems preferences?
    Thanks

  • Muse Color management

I have color management problem when importing jpeg file into Muse the colors of the file are very different darker lower contrast than any others applications

Have you tried colour correcting your images properly through Photoshop to RGB? Muse doesn't do fabulous things with imported images if it has to 'handle' a lot of changes ( colour profiles, ppi, resizing etc ) for you.
Or, you might be experiencing this:

  • Photoshop CS5 shows colors incorrectly on my CintiqUX21

All I know is that it is really just Photoshop, When viewing images or documents on the Cintiq they display the same colors as on my main monitor.
But when I draw something in Photoshop the colors are more saturated. This is especcially noticable when I undock the working space and drag it on my main monitor.
Testing with a rainbow gradient I can see that relative to my main monitor the purple gets darker and the blue gets stronger; almost turning into a solid bar rather than a gradient. The green also gets slightly lighter.
    What am I doing wrong?

Hmmm I've been working in sRGB IEC61966-2.1 Always have been, never really changed it.
Appearantly there is an option called Cintiq12wx.icc which seems to work better. (The blue is still a bit strong but it ain't no solid bar any longer)
    It is a great improvement!
    Thank you Mylenium! Good guess!

  • Save For Web Color incorrect color shifting

SFW (CS3) isn't functioning correctly, or perhaps I'm missing a pref or configuration.
When I go to SFW, the image in the SFW window no matter what setting or level (even 100%) and resulting file is lighter, as in washed out, from it's PSD parent.
Even viewing the Original from within SFW is not the at the original levels. It's washed out.
As a test, if I do a Save As from the same PSD parent to a JPEG at 12, the file is the same level quality as it's PSD parent as expected/desired.
As such, SFW is unusable for me.
CS3, Mac Pro Quade Core 2x3GHz, OSX 10.5.5

Thanks Ann. Here's what I have:
    In Edit > Color Settings:
    Working Spaces: RGB sRGB IEC...
Color Mgmt Polices: Convert to Working RGB
    Convert to Profile:
    Source Space Profile: sRGB IEC..
    Conversion Options:
    Engine: Adobe ACE
    Intent: Perceptual
    Use Black Point Compensation (√)
    Use Dither (√)
In SFW: Convert to sRGB is selected
I'm looking at a head shot 72 dpi and the woman's face is lighter using these settings from within SFW looking at what SFW calls "Original" versus the real original outside of SFW.
Saving a SFW jpg at 100% yields a lighter image than doing a Save As jpg at 12.
I have both a HP LP3065 30" and Apple 22" Cinema display and the SFW processed file is lighter on both screens. Although the SFW Original is lighter on the HP than when looking at same on the Cinema. But the output is lighter and consistent viewing on both displays. Lighter than should be.
The Cinema is set to Apple's stock "Apple Cinema Display" profile and HP doesn't support us with a Mac calibrator, but I did the best I could with Apple's - in Prefs > Display.
Regardless, it seems that SFW is the problem (in my logical but limited color mgmt knowledge). I can save as a Save As jpg and get the expected color level consistent with the original on both my HP and Cinema. Isn't this the deciding factor? The consistency across both. Wouldn't that point to SFW being the problem, since Save As works correctly?
And Peter, I totally agree with you, we need to search first. I did on "Save For Web Color Shifting" but didn't find it. I found other SFW issues, but somehow not my issue. Still, my apologies.
    Thanks to both.

  • Photoshop is printing colors Incorrectly

I recently updated my operating system to MAC OS 10.8 and as a result, Photoshop 5.5 no longer prints colors accurately. I corresponded with the tech department at Adobe for more than a week and we determined that my user settings did not migrate properly when I upgraded, resulting in skewed colors when printing from Photoshop.  In running tests, we made a new "root" user and Photoshop printed correctly when using that user.  I'm wondering if anyone knows how to fix my user settings/profiles so that my paper and printer profiles operate correctly in MAC OS 10.8 when printing from Photoshop?
I've spent more than a month already trying to resolve this issue.  If anyone has had a similar problem or has any suggestions I would be extremely grateful!

On a Mac, make sure Photoshop is fully Quit, then cold-start it, and immediately press and hold the Command - Option - Shift keys down.  If you've gotten them down quickly enough Photoshop will prompt you to confirm deletion of the preferences, which will cause the automatic generation of default preferences.
    Hope that helps!

  • Finder and dashboard colors incorrect

    hey all;
I am having color issues with the new install of osX Tiger.
In Finder the highlight and label colors, which seem to be interrelated, there are 3 shades of lime green and 3 shades of electric purple plus gray, instead of the blue, gold, red, orange, green and purple.
This seems to be migrating into dashboard, where; in the weather widget, the sunny days are showing up as the same radioactive green and the electric purple is in the background.
also in the dock, the finder icon and trash can are purple, but all the other icons are showing up correctly colored.
    any help?
    thanks
    -seth

Maybe a colorsync profile is corrupted. Try running ColorSync Utility in the /Applications/Utilities folder, selecting the Profile First Aid tab, and verifying your profiles.
If that doesn't work, some file(s) are likely corrupt. The best way to fix them would be doing an Archive and Install of Tiger.

  • PDF color incorrect when previewing

I am dealing with someone who had a PDF created from an external source. When they get the file an image in the document is basically blue when it should be black. I get the same results on various different versions of reader 7, 8 and 9 on different OS. The only catch is that if I actually print the document the image color is correct.
Any setting I should be looking at?

Go to Edit, Preferences, Page Display and make sure the Rendering/Smooth Text is set to none. I have read this in a previous post as I had the same issue for my users. This seems to have corrected it. I noted in the posts that some had to change to at least 16 bit color in addition to the change.
    Good Luck.

  • IE8 - Underline and color disappear when clicking back arrow on links or colors incorrect

I understand my heading may sound confusing.  I have an issue which I  cant seem to figure out with the help of a friend as well.
    1)  I have to clear out the cashe or select "delete browsing history" and  then refresh to get the page to look right (the links to be blue with an  underline underneath the word) - it shows up Black.
    2)   When I refresh the page and colors are correct, I click on the link  such as on the "PRINT" page on the word "HERE" it goes to the next  page.  Then I click the back arrow and now the word is black and the  underline is missing?  It is suppose to return to the same color (blue)  with an underline underneath the word.
The same issue  is when you click on:  "Portfolio" then go to "Web" then click on the  second webpage on the slider - images (VYTEK website).  I am having the same problems with the  links ("NEXT WEBPAGE", "PREVIOUS WEBPAGE" and the "HERE").  It looks  fine at first, click on the link and click the back arrow, now the links  are black and the underline is gone?
I have included  the link below.  If you view in Firefox, you will see the correct pages  not problem.  But look at it in IE8 and you will see my dilemmia.
    http://jourisdictiondesigns.com/print3.html
    http://jourisdictiondesigns.com/web3.html
I have also included a IE8 CSS page to fix the issues, but nothing seems to work.  I have included the link to the IE8.css page.
    IE8 CSS PAGE LINK:  http://jourisdictiondesigns.com/css/ie8.css
    VYTEK_WEBSITE.CSS LINK:  http://jourisdictiondesigns.com/css/vytek_website.css
    VYTEK_WEBSITE.HTML LINK:  http://jourisdictiondesigns.com/vytek_website.html

CSS Pseudo Classes (link states).  There are 6 links states.
    a (rules for all links)
    a:link (unvisted link)
    a:visited (visited link)
    a:hover (on mouse over)
    a:active (on click)
a:focus (on tab key or on click in IE)
If you define a rule for a:visited, you'll get better results when you hit the browser's back button.

  • Color Display for PDF Files Creative Cloud in Browser View

I have noticed that there is a great difference in color display between a PDF and .ai/eps files. When viewed in the browser there seems to be no ICC taking affect for PDF files even though options to include the profiles, etc in output were selected. This makes it hard to use as a tool when showing clients proofs via the browser as they will never see proper color. I know color will vary between monitors but the difference is huge for some colors. Like a dark almost Navy Blue appearing like a vibrant pen ink blue. On a Mac when you use the quick spacebar preview the correct color shows for all versions of file type but in the browsers it shows the color incorrectly. Have tried this so far on the Mac in in Safari, Chrome and Firefox. Even Google Drive can display all the file types correctly with correct color although the way it shows eps files is a bit off. That I don't mind as I rarely save eps files anymore.
Is there something I am missing or is this a defect in the browser display?
The other possible option would be to flip my thinking and save everything as .ai files with PDF compatibility turned on and then have to tell clients that they should be able to open that ai file in Acrobat. At the moment I save everything as PDF files with Illustrator compatibility turned on.

Can anyone throw light on this. I'm facing same problem.

  • Does Muse optimize the original file because my images in a slideshow resize after I have used the image more than once.

iif I import a photo into my website and make it a small size then when I create a slideshow and add that photo from my computer it comes in too small every time. It's as though Muze is optimizing the original photo and that is very frustrating. I have to open that photo in Photoshop and save it again to fix it. Very annoying. Will this be fixed?

Muse does not touch the original image, but it does maintain an optimized copy of the original. You can verify by locking the original image file to prevent Muse from touching it.
Muse performs the optimization at export/publish time based on the largest instance of the image in the project. In this case, when you re-import the image, Muse is incorrectly assuming you want the new image at the same size as the first instance that you resized smaller. We'll look at fixing this behavior in the next release, but in the mean time there is a workaround.
Instead of opening the image in Photoshop and re-saving, which changes the modification date of the image and signals Muse to re-import the image, try double-clicking until the image is selected. The selection handles will be smaller and solid if you have the image selected. The handles will be larger and hollow if a container is selected. Then resize the image to the dimensions you want. Initially, the image will be pixelated because Muse is still using the previously optimized copy. However, if you choose File->Preview Page in Browser, the image will be re-optimized for the new dimensions and you should see a higher resolution version in both the browser and on your page within Muse.
You can more easily verify the optimization behavior as follows:
    1. Place an image at 25% of its original size.
    2. Select File->Preview Page in Browser, which will optimize the image at the 25% size.
    3. Duplicate the placed image and resize the duplicate to be twice as big (i.e. 50% of the original). Initially, this duplicate will be blurry after the resize.
    4. Select File->Preview Page in Browser, which will re-optimize the image and redraw at the higher resolution.

  • Colors more vibrant in Editor

I took some shots with my Father's Nikon D90 and noticed they appeaed dull.  I opened them in the editor, and they looked better without any changes.  Why would this be?  Could it be the color profile he had his camera set to?  I know my camera is set to sRGB and his is AdobeRGB.

    Jason,
This is a known bug in the PSE 6/7 Organizer.  It considers photos produced by cameras set to Adobe RGB to be untagged with a color profile.  This causes it to show their colors incorrectly.
