Muse Form and spam Recaptcha in BC

Considering this post instruction, http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3531 .Is Muse next release going to fix this. Most forms in Muse will have this issue and it 'll be nice to know if a fix is coming in June 17.
This has been almost a week's work of removing Muse form and replacing with BC forms placing them in contentholder and re-styling and all that headaches. Peeved!

Hi Seven Six Creative,
I am afraid that this feature is not there in Muse at this stage.
For now, you could insert HTML code in Muse to create Radio Buttons(which allows the user to choose only one of a predefined set of options).
Kindly check the following W3schools link for more information on the HTML code:

  • Adobe Muse Forms and GoDaddy

Has anyone come up with a solution for the consistent problem between Adobe Muse forms and GoDaddy hosting? I just spent an hour with GoDaddy and they said everything on their end was working. It was a script problem. I can't seem to get any answers from either Adobe or GoDaddy.

From your description is seems clear the issue is not with the Muse generated scripts. Those are identical regardless of what e-mail address you're sending to. If sending to your personal e-mail address works, but sending to an address on the same domain as the site does not, that most likely indicates one of two things: 1) The e-mail address is not setup correctly. (I assume that's not the case and you can send to the address from other sources without issue?) 2) Or, something on the server is configured to block e-mail from being sent to addresses on the domain of the site. Some hosting providers do this by default.
I expect this case is the latter and you have yet to reach a tech at GoDaddy who's familiar with this aspect of their e-mail processing via PHP sendMail.
The lack of SQL is a non-issue. SQL is not required for the correct processing of your form. When available SQL is used to limit the number of form submissions that will be accepted from a single IP address (site visitor) in a short amount of time. This "throttling" is performed to limit submissions from spammer's robots. Your form will work fine regardless of whether SQL is available. If you do receive spam from your form, adding a CAPTCHA is more effective at reducing or completely eliminating spam. Another less cumbersome method for site visitor's is simply to add a required checkbox will a label of something like "I'm a human" since spammer's robots will frequently not figure out they need to check the checkbox in order to get the form to submit.
There's nothing Muse can do to avoid a restriction on the server that prevents specific e-mail addresses from being sent to, short of providing or connecting to a completely different e-mail processing service than what's provided with your hosting. We may provide that option at some point in the future (for other reasons), but that's not an option right now.
If GoDaddy's support continues to point at Muse when told that sending to e-mail addresses not on the site's domain works fine and sending to addresses on the site's domain does not, and also told there's absolutely no difference in the PHP code for the two cases, then send me an e-mail and we'll talk to GoDaddy together.  [email protected]

  • E Mail Forms and Spam Bots

I have created a form and using a PHP script to forward the
form results to an e mail account. How protected is this from
harvesting the e mail address by spam bots? If this is not the best
way to go, any suggestions on a better method. I'm familiar with
captcha but would prefer not to have to use this.
    thnx
    Fred

If the email address is ONLY mentioned in the PHP script,
    it's completely
    secure.

  • Recaptcha and Muse form issue

I am trying to add Google recaptcha to a contact form in Muse and have added my keys, but I keep getting "The server encountered an error" upon form submission every time.
Is there more I need to do than simply add the keys?
    - I added my domain to Google recaptcha; which shows me a site key and secret key
    - I added site key to public field in recaptcha form and secret key to private key in recaptcha form in Muse form widget
    - I uploaded my exported html to my web server and tested
    - I receive this error upon submission - "The server encountered an error"

    What am I doing wrong??
I am a CC subscriber and have all updates...,
    Thank you!!

  • Muse CC and Form Catchpha

    Hi all,
Apologies for the rant in advance, but can anyone at Adobe tell me what the point is in allowing forms to be used outside of Business Catalyst only to keep the use of Form Catchpas for BC customers only??? This restriction really means this feature is yet again useless. None of my clients wish to host with BC as they have hosting elsewhere and want to keep it that way. I really feel this is an underhand way to encourage use of the Adobe BC service. I pay my recurring fees to Adobe for thier software so why restrict it with such stupid limitations.
    Any thoughts are appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Tom

Please try it on a site before declaring it useless.
While captcha support is not available, if SQLite is available Muse will limit the form submissions that can be submitted from a single IP address in a short period of time, thus substantially reducing the likelihood and scale of spam form submissions. The FAQ here <http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-3581> provides more information about the new forms functionality, including how to easily check whether your hosting currently has SQLite available.
Yes, there is no captcha support. Captcha support requires some degree of image processing on the server (to generate the captcha image). This level of image processing is not available as part of the typical PHP installed with default hosting configurations.
We're frankly walking a tightrope. We're doing our best to provide a forms solution that works on the vast majority of hosting providers, avoids (or at least limits) spam submissions, requires no server-side configuration by the user (in most cases), minimizes the code installed on your server (to minimize the security risks and maintenance requirements inherent in running any code on a server) and avoids any per form or per form submission costs to Adobe (which would in turn require us to, in some way, have an additional charge for the use of forms in order to cover that cost).
If the cost problem isn't clear, let me explain further. An individual Muse user may produce and maintain 1 website or hundreds of websites. These websites can continue to be live online long after the Muse subscription has expired. (The websites remain online as long at the hosting provider is paid.) In the future if we provide a forms solution that requires Adobe to maintain servers to manage accounts, process form submissions, send e-mails and provide customer support for that service, the costs associated with that would be incurred per website, per form and/or per form submission and therefore would require us to charge separately from the subscription cost of Muse.
Yes we're part of "a big company" and yes we're interested in making a profit, but ultimately we're just a group of people that take a great deal of pride and satisfaction in creating tools and solutions that enable you to be more productive and possibly achieve things you otherwise would be unable to do. And, if we've done our job well, we'll all have fun along the way.

  • Muse Contact Form enables Spam

Am a recent user of Muse and up till now have been happy with the product. However two of my Muse sites have within 24 hours of upload suffered spam attacks (am talking 100s of spam emails within a 24 hour period ONLY on sites using Muse forms). My clients are unimpressed..I am livid. Can i stress the importance and total urgency of at least enabling captcha for non BC hosting. The forms as they stand are unsecure and totally porous. I do not want to know about workarounds or 3rd party software..this is a serious problem within the software itself. I do not wish to host with BC..all my sites and associated costs are elsewhere and have been for years. if this is a strategy to encourage BC hosting then i would suggest its cynical and ultimately self defeating. Thank you.

    Hi Matt,
I understand your concern and will recommend that you add this feature request to our ideas section over here, Ideas for features in Adobe Muse, so that the development team can look into it.

  • Muse form is not working on godaddy and no error message indicating a php error is occuring. Could something else be wrong? Do I have to manually set the form once loaded to go daddy to direct through their mail form system?

I have read in multiple places on the forum that muse forms are now supported on third party platforms. however I am having a very difficult time getting mine to work on Godaddy. They seem to no longer have the "form mailer" option and told me to look at this PHP: mail - Manual to make the forms work. Muse is not giving any error messages indicating that there is a problem on the go daddy end, the form appears to function but no message is received at email address. can anyone help troubleshoot this for me.
    Thanks.

    Hey Sanjit & Brad,
Thanks for getting back to me. So, I tried changing the address as Sanjit suggested, and yes an error message came up. But then I tested Brad's theory and looks like the form works with another email address other than that of the actual website email:( So I guess based on Brad's link I should reroute the form to the other (non-godaddy) email...or contact go-daddy to see if they can correct this? Would that be the final answer?
    Thanks again!

  • Muse forms hosted on BC and embedded in Muse website hosted on third party host

Just wondering if there are any plans for Muse forms to be hosted on BC and able to embed on Muse website that is on a third party host? If this is already possible... how?  I know of another company that allows for forms (using their separate web form program) to be hosted through them and embedded in their web design software that can host a site elsewhere... just wasn't sure if Muse was able to do this too.   Thanks, I appreciate any help.

    Hi Davz,
You can use the Muse forms on a third party host. But if you create a form in BC and embed it in Muse, you can't use it on a third party host. It can be used on BC only.

  • Integration with muse created forms and business catalyst mailing lists

I have just spent a long time on a chat session with support after spending most of a day trying to sort out how to have the people who fill in our contact us page to be automatically added to a mailing list to keep in contact with them, but it seems there isnt a strong link with muse to do this easily.
When you create a form in muse, it has an option to send the completed forms to a selected email adress. It would be great if you there was also an option to add that contact to a selected mailing list group already created in Business Catalys
I would have also like the full integration of form central to be inside muse with all its functions. So I could create gift voucher orders forms  and receive payments by paypal or other options.
It has been a frustrating day trying to figure it out as the forums didnt seem to help with the info i needed.
It seems to use Business Catalyst webforms requires html coding knowledge which I dont have. you can created a basic form in there easily, but if you want to make it two collumns wide or other changes, it is very difficult to use with coding
A decent wysiwig editor in Business Catalyst would be great
    thanks for listening.
Overall I think Muse is excellent so I am surprised, this part of the software doesnt work as I expected.

  • Adobe Muse form with 3rd party host is not working

I have uploaded a form with Adobe Muse to a 3rd party host.  Upon testing the link scripts/form_check.php, I see 3 green checkmarks.  Upon testing the form, the form appears to submit successfully, however I never receive the email.
I checked with the hosting company and this is what they said:
...this form is using localhost smtp of webserver which was stopped due to spamming issues...actually, localhost doesn't have proper rDNS record and the return path for all mails is the server itself, so whenever a client uses its domain for spamming the server's mail queue gets choked and creates issues for others. So we generally do not open localhost smtp and recommend users to use proper SMTP Authentication so that each mail will be delivered and won't create issues for server even if someone does spamming because in that case all mails will bounce back to the mailbox.  So, we recommend you to use smtp authentication in the form and use proper smtp details to send mail.
Please provide a recommendation on what I should do to resolve this?  Is there a way to modify the form so that it uses proper SMTP Authentication instead of Localhost?

  • Email field generating from: in a MUSE form

I am rather surprised I am having to ask for help on this question, since every form I have ever built for a website has always worked in the way I am requesting, until now... it is just common sense really, but here we go:
How can I make the FROM: in the form email submission of a MUSE form generate the email that the user supplies into the email field of the form?
    MyTechPro | HOME
    and
    MyTechPro | HELP
Please keep in mind we host this site on our own server and not through Adobe Business Catalyst.
As I said, this really should be how it is programmed into the default form, but for some reason, the form is programmed to use the same email you put into the form programming of the TO: field instead of using the email field.  This really seems strange to me since I don't know anyone that would like to have the TO and FROM the same when submitting a form online.  How do you then respond easily to the person submitting the form?  The only way to do this is to then copy and paste the email from the form into the response and that is such an unneeded step when the form is programmed correctly. Can the team of MUSE please fix this in future versions?
To let you know where this code is in the SCRIPT folder, its the "form-u22015.php" and here is the code highlighted in red.
Does anyone know how I can change this line of code to pull the email supplied by the email field and put it into the generated email coming from the form?

Hello everybody. I am a web designer (NOT a developer)
I created a form and I'm not sure how to make the 'submit' button send me the collected information.
I have used phpform.org/ to custom build a submission form. Then I opened that html in dreamweaver (so that I could edit colors, fonts, and delete the phpform.org advetisement)
Now I need to link the 'submit button' so that it will e-mail me the completed form.
(formphp.org wants me to subscribe to a servie that I pay for in order to have the form e-mailed to myself.)
(after I get the submit button linked to an e-mail I will pull the html of my completed form into Muse- but I don't think that is really relevent)
I'm sure one of you can help point me in the right direction! I can't write my own code so detailed help is appreciated!

I'm afraid not.    It's not rocket science but you need to do some coding.
You'll need to find a script (php) and save it to your local site folder.  Then reference the script in your form's action attribute like so.
         <form action="path/form-to-email-script.php" >
The input fields in your HTML form need to exactly match the script variables.
I'm  assuming you're hosted on a Linux server which uses PHP code.  Linux servers are also case sensitive, so upper case names are not the same as lower case names.  It's usually best to use all lower case names in your form and script to avoid confusion.

  • How to add a slider widget to Adobe Muse form?

I have a form at http://www.magneticmarketing.me/logo-design.html that includes a large section that requires someone to rate their company between 1-10 in like 14 categories. This looks very chaotic as I currently have this as a general form format. I would like to run all of these into slider widgets? Is there any way to integrate this into the Adobe Muse form? If not, does anyone know of any third party form providers that would be good for this task?

    Hi
You can try to use composition and then insert form in target area , where user on click to trigger can access the form but this would require to create separate forms for specific sections.
Or you can create forms and then change action url of the form which on submission will take to different page where the user will fill out next form and so on.
In both cases you have to create separate forms and use them like one single form.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • The check marks in the check boxes I added to a Muse Form widget appear blurry.

The check marks in the check boxes I added to a Muse Form widget appear blurry.  Is there somewhere that I can edit the resolution of these?  Why would the default check marks be at the incorrect resolution?  Could it be something I did when designing the form?
    Thanks!

The checkmarls are simple images. If you scale up the check mark or look at it in higher magnification, it of course appears blurry.
You may want to replace the check marks by graphics of your own (perhaps scaleable SVGs)
Select a check box, open the states panel and see the different states; change the graphics for the desired state by using the "Fill"-command in command strip on top of the application window.
