Muse hi dpi image import question

images i have imported into muse working site with hi dpi turned on should come in at 1280 which is half size, instead import at 1024 pixels. The full resolution size of the file being imported is 2560. What am I doing wrong? If I try to scale them up in muse to full width I lose the hi def check in the assets menu so what am I doing wrong?

See if this helps you.

Photoshop would be ideal, or TIFF or PICT.

  • Aperture 3 image import question

I'm trying out a trial version of Aperture 3, and have a (hopefully) quick question about importing images.
I keep my images on a network storage drive.  When I imported them into Aperture, the program seemed to copy the files from the NAS to the Aperture library on the Mac's HD.  I don't want it to do that.  Lightroom, on my Windows box, has the option to just reference the file's location when importing.  It leaves the images where they are, and references the location in its database.  Is there a way to get Aperture to do the same thing?  I want my raw files to be accessible to any machine on the network, not stored locally.
    Thanks.

    No reason to guess .
Most of the default Metadata Overlays show Badges.  Aperture uses different badges to indicate whether an image's Master is Managed or Referenced, and if Referenced, what the status of the Master is.  What badges are you shown?
Also, right-click an image.  If "Show in Finder" is in the pop-up menu, the image's Master is Referenced.  If it is, select "Show in Finder" and see what happens.  You'll either get a message containing the Master's path, or you'll get a Finder window showing the Finder folder containing the Master.

  • How can I control dpi when importing with Image Capture?

This is not really an iPhoto question, but there is no forum for Image Capture - and I am hoping some iPhoto user has discovered a solution.
I usually import my digital camera images into a folder using Image Capture, apply Photoshop corrections, THEN move the adjusted and re-named images to iPhoto for organization and storage.
When I open the images for the first time in Photoshop, the Image Size box always shows the resolution as 72 dpi. I can easily convert this to 300 dpi in Photoshop, but I would prefer to avoid the extra step for every photo.
So far, I have not been able to find any setting in either my camera menus or Image Capture to change the default from 72 dpi to 300 dpi - any suggestions?
I am using Image Capture v3.0.3, Mac OS v10.4.11 and iPhoto v7.1.5

Old Toad said: "If these services printed your files at 72 dpi you would end up with very large prints."
Obviously - which is exactly what I want to avoid!
In fact Photoshop tries to do that, warning me: "The image is larger than the paper's area, some clipping will occur."
Terence Delvin said: "When you print the density of those pixels will determine the quality of the print. So, change the density and the dimensions change. Change the dimensions and the density changes. See the relationship?"
Yes, I understand all that perfectly.
I guess my real question should have been:
"Are there any print services or page-layout-type software applications that honor the exif data and try to print or re-size using a print resolution of 72 dpi without making the user re-define the density to something more print friendly?
    For example:
I have a 3936x2624 pixel image for which Photoshop's Get Info shows the print resolution as 72 dpi. If I drag that image into a Microsoft Word document, then Word does some kind of magic resizing to fit the image on the width of my 8.5x11" document. With margins, the image is now about 4x6". Looks good on my screen (but then even a 72 dpi image would, wouldn't it).
Obviously, MS Word downsized the image, but I can't find any way to make Word show me what print resolution it is choosing to assign to the resized image. It looks fine when printed, so I'm pretty sure that, in this case, something higher than 72 dpi was used.
If ALL software of this type (word processing and page layout) automatically ignores the 72 dpi print resolution in the EXIF data when resizing, then it's a non-issue, as you suggest. Lacking, much real world experience with print-based projects, I wasn't sure if it was something to worry about - apparently not?

  • Still images import and sizing in BlackMagic 10 bits footage Premiere pro CS 5.5 and AE

    Hi,
I'm looking for the maths to calculate the needed image size when using normal  images for import to use as still images in Premiere.
The images I have are 72dpi and 240dpi. The footage is Black Magic 10 bits AVI 1920x1080 (1,0) 50i and some stuff is 25p (for keying purposes).
I use Photoshop, Illustrator and Fireworks. I have the same question concerning the import and sizing of images in After Effects.
    Thanks! David

The images I have are 72dpi and 240dpi.
That is completely irrelevant for video editing. The only thing that matters is the pixel dimensions. A 240 dpi image on a 4.3"screen is different than a 72 dpi image on a 200" video wall. The math is simple: one to one relationship. So if you edit 1920 x 1080, use 1920 x 1080 pixel dimensions for your images.

  • Do images imported to Keynote retain their previous color profile? In other words, if the Keynote presentation will be shown using an sRGB profile projector, should the images be converted to sRGB prior to importing?

Do images imported to Keynote retain their previous color profile? In other words, if the Keynote presentation will be shown using an sRGB profile projector, should the images be converted to sRGB prior to importing or can they be batch adjusted in Keynote?

While I feel your comment doesn't directly address my question, why I am worrying is this.
This presentation is to a camera club. Color is important. Images shown in meetings are projected by an sRGB color profile projector. Most serious photographers us a color profile with a bigger space than sRGB (typically RGB1998). If you project an RGB1998 image on an sRGB projector the colors go to crap. More precisely they become dull and lifeless. Thus, I am trying to determine whether I need to convert the images I plan to put into my Keynote to sRGB and boost the saturation PRIOR to importing them or whether Keynote has a way to do this as part of the software.

  • Image Printing Question

    Hello,
Bottom line summary: How do I use the Media and Quality setting to get a good image?
I have an image printing question for an HP 8600 Office. I am trying to get a decent quality image to print
on regular paper. I gather that I will not get the quality of a photo printer. I gather I'm supposed to use
HP glossy paper. Please read on ...
Images come out grainy (rastery) when embedded from an MSPaint project, and if I use Word. However when I printed just an image from image viewer it came like a photo ... but I can't remember what I did. It definitely is capable of printing better. My cartridges all check out, etc. I did the Print Quality Report ... I sure wish I could get that quality when I print other things.
I tried messing with different settings from the Print - Preference. The Quality (Best, Normal, Draft) doesn't effect the outcome. I tried going into Print - Preference - Media and it makes a difference. I can't figure out which is the best setting for plain paper ... but it's not plain paper. The image rendering algorithm appears to be different for different Media settings. I also tried setting the Advanced Resolution to Maximum DPI. I haven't been totally methodical about this as I was in a rush.
I see that the printer is being "smart", perhaps a little too smart.
    So my question is multipart:
    - Is there documenation on the what the Print - Preference - Media settings do?
    - How do I get it to not use grainy/rastery image method, but use the nicer photo method?
    - Should I print Maximum DPI?
    Thanks,
    - Dave -

Hi @DaveGold , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I hope you had a great holiday!
I see you're looking into photo setup options. I'd like to help!
First I'd recommend this document on Changing Print Settings in Windows 7.  This document should show all the settings you're looking into.
Also, another thing to keep in mind, when you select 'best print quality' and 'photo paper'. It will only be as good as the source image.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Image Export Question

I need to export images from A3 to give to a client. The client purchased rights to a hi Res (300 dpi) and a web (72 dpi) image. Here is my question based on how I have my library set up. I have been setting everything up as a separate project. SO for this one, it is team name, with a folder inside with numebr and name, then an album, then the images....
    RCBasketball>02 Thacker> 02 Thacker Album / image versions
I have 15 players (replace 02 Thanker with 03 Poindexter, etc...)
How do I set the export options to do this into a folder called RCBBALL/HIRES/PLAYERNAME (02 Thacker)/ IMAGEname (58BY2001.jpg)

It's a little difficult to make out exactly what you're going for here but in general when you export an image the *Folder Nameing* preset popup will appear. You can then design the folder structure you want to use for the export.
Also you can go to *Aperture->Presets->Folder Naming...* and create the preset these before you do any exporting. You can also save the preset you make so you can use it at a later date.

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/import-questions-gift-format-files.html

Captivate 7 doesn't support tags during GIFT import. So you won’t be able to import Images, links etc. as part of GIFT Import.

  • CS6 default image import is different than CS5

The default image import option for CS5 was "Crop" now with CS6 it's "Bounding Box"
Any ideas on how to change the default so I don't have to keep using the dialogue box?
    Thanks

    I just figured it out.
I was actually replacing an image and not importing. And I was using the link button in the links window, not the Command D shortcut.
The reason I used the term "image import" in the title of my question is that the dialogue box used when replacing an image says "Show Import Options". This is where I found the Crop option and this is the procedure that would not "stick".
I remembered that I could use Command D also to replace an image and that since this is the Place keystroke then the window would give me the same option. I chose "Crop" in the dialogue box, successfully replaced the image, closed InDesign, opened InDesign, used the link button in the links window to replace my image and Voila! it stuck.
So, just in case somebody else asks, to make it stick you MUST use the Command D shortcut or the Place menu item. Using the link button in the links window will not make your choice stick.
Thanks for your help Peter, I can see now why you were pulling your hair out on this, you must have been assuming I was using the Place menu item.

  • Hello, we are interested in more information on the Image Size Fit To option in phototshop.  For example, if we open a 46x25 inch 120 dpi image and choose Fit to 4x6" does all of the resolution remain?  Any links to tutorials in this area are appreciate

Hello, we are interested in more information on the Image Size > Fit To option in phototshop.  For example, if we open a 46x25 inch 120 dpi image and choose Fit to 4x6" does all of the resolution remain?  Any links to tutorials in this area are appreciated.

Let's look at the first thing: Aspect Ratio  46W x 25H does not fit 6W x 4H exactly. You get 6W x 3.621H If we preserve Landscape Orientation and Aspect Ratio. If I set H to 4, W will be 7.36 inches, clipping your picture.
You'll have to decide on how to clip off that 1.36 inches so your picture can be 4 x 6 in order to solve that problem.
Notice I set Resample off. Throwing out pixels is destructive editing. So what I am doing is "Scaling", changing the Print Size without touch the pixels. Notice how high the resolution goes up.
To Resample or not will be your decision.  I hope I answered your questions properly. Let me know otherwise.

  • LR 3.2-Images Imported Not Always In Order. Why??

This problem did not exist in LR 2.x.
With v3.2, images imported from SD card do not always import to LR based upon the order in which they were captured by the camera.
    Using Windows Vista Home Premium.
Am I missing a default setting that needs to be changed?
    Thanks for any help/info.........

Question answered. I wish I had dug around just a bit before whining:
In the full up import dialogue, the bottom of that screen has various sort options.
One of them is capture time. That will take care of my concern.
However, it appears that the selected capture time option must be reselected prior to each import.
Too bad that it is not in the software memory, as is now the option for "Copy As DNG". In LR 3.0, that was a bug, as it too was not in memory and had to be selected prior to each import.

  • How to import questions into Captivate 4 from a delimited file

    I'm looking
a way to import questions from a delimited text file (or excel spreadsheet)
    into captivate.
All the questions are simple multiple choice, single answer, four selections per question.
I have hundreds - I'd hate to have to retype them all in one at a time.
    Thanks in advance

Does anyone know if this is a feature in Captivate 5.
Other things I would really like to see in Captivate 5.
Importing and Exporting the graded quiz/test content out of captivate into another
application/ form.  Such as xml, tab delimited, excel spreadsheet,
Adobe pdf, Word document or another format.  Our current content
developement systems allows us to (when publishing) do this.
1> exclude questions from the Published content
(exclude section questions, or final test content)
2> produce different test versions from question banks
3> Produce a PDF paper test for when we want to train in a classroom setting
4> Select which questions we want to produce
5> Import questions from a pre-defined format.  To note: when we do this the system also makes us define a unique interaction id so that the import will update existing questions.
I know this will NOT work for some of the more sophisticated questions, But for the simple Mulitple choice, true/false, fill in the blank.  etc..
THIS WOULD BE A GREAT FEATURE..
It would also be NICE TO HAVE THE abiliy to PROFILE versions of the SAME Course WITH OUT REPRODUCING / DUPLICATING / REPEATING THE  ENTIRE COURSE PRESENTATION.
    Such as
    "INSTRUCTOR TAUGHT TRAINING"
    "WEB TRAINING"
    "PAPER TEST A"
    "PAPER TEST B"
    ETC...
LASTLY: if we can not export the QUIZ content.  Can an excel spreadsheet LIKE INTERFACE be used to edit certain aspects of the questions.
Such as the InteractionId which is sent to the LMS ('cmi.interactions.0.id').  My developer team says it is real difficult and time consuming
to track down interactionIds and then maintain them in a perfect way.
