Muse image metadata and global caption styling

When will Muse be able to import image metadata and perform global caption styling with accurate positioning for lightboxes and slideshows?

I've done some testing.
if images are uploaded to the Facebook Wall, the Comments field that Aperture presents before uploading the image becomes the Description field on Facebook.
however, if the images are uploaded to a known Facebook Album, the Version Name becomes the Description.
both of these situations are not logical. in the case of uploading to the Wall, 'Comments' should probably be 'Description'. I'll report them to Apple's bugreport.
images seem to be scaled down to fit within 2048x2048 pixels.

  • HTML Gallery, metadata and image download

    hi,
    I find Bridge collections really useful and output to html gallery template pretty good looking as a quick way to show prospect clients themed presentations of my work. There are two issues though which I hope someone can help with, or that Adobe would change if  listening in on this.
    Whereas the html gallery template reads the metadata like description, title and filename,  metadata is being stripped from the image when image is downloaded from gallery.
    That the image can be downloaded and that meta data is stripped from the image files are two reasons not to use what otherwise could have been an excellent product.
    I would prefer the coding of this html gallery to prevent download of individual image files and as content providers we totally rely on metadata being contained with image file. Are there ways I can change this without going to script amendements?
    If the solution should not be with adobe, could anyone suggest another product that could cater for this need?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Torunn

    Amendments (and apologies for errors in my original post. Copyright status, -notice and -url are indeed contained in metadata for downloaded image, so not so bad then Wish list thus shortended to description field and the IPTC contact data. Though why not all?

  • Facebook. Image size and caption?

    hello all.
    questions.
    when I upload images to Facebook via the Aperture built-in Web albums, are the images resized? to what size?
    when I upload images to Facebook, my captions are not transferred to the image Description in Facebook. does the transfer use the Caption field, or another metadata field?

    I want to share a folder of images with a client who is also using bridge. I want the client to be able to edit metadata and rate the image. How can I do this?

    Metadata won't be a problem as long as you use Bridge to copy the file from within Bridge to whatever media (flash drive, CD/DVD. email, etc) you plan to use for the sharing.
    I'm not sure about the Label part.  Maybe it will travel along too.

  • Access metadata and images using Lightroom API

    It would be great to access the images in the Lightroom library from outside Lightroom (including all post-processing of course). This would enable 3rd party applications to integrate the library into the application. This is especially useful for media centers.

    You would really need a shared catalog and image files on an external hard dive. Then connect the ehd to either machine, as needed.
    I personally use a master catalog on my desktop machine and a travel catlog on my Macbook pro. That lets me shoot photos, apply metadata and edit them on the road and when I get home I simply import the travel catalog into the combined master catalog.
    This video tutorial from Adobe Evangelist Julieanne Kost gives a demonstration of how to use a travel catalog on-location.

    You may need to register your camera with the the launch service database again, see this post by Alan Roseman: Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
    There is a "typo" in the command given in the link above, so read also the following posts on how to correctly enter the command and how the fix is supposed to work
    Good luck.
    Post back, if this does not help.

  • Image metadata is not retained(stripped) in lightbox slideshow widget

    How is this corrected

    Can someone at Adobe please confirm that there is no reading of the image metadata.  I thought it was limiting that it was only the caption field available.  I am stunned if this is the case that no metadata is being read.  I am working on a photo web site and got to the point of importing photos with the 'captions' checked.  Huge surprise.  It is hard to believe that something as fundamental as basic metadata fields (caption, title, filename, copyright) isn't pulled with the image and available as needed.  C'mon, you are the company that has Photoshop and Lightroom.  Do you guys talk to the other teams?
    I was looking at Muse galleries as an alternative to the LR web module for 2 reasons:  one is flexibility in layout, and the other is speed, since the LR gallery export cranks along at a glacial pace to the point of being almost unusable.  And this is the LR4 upgrade; much slower than LR3.  See the LR threads on this if you're interested.  Still waiting for that fix.
    The thought of manually entering caption info to a dozen galleries, each with 20 or 30 images, is nonsense.  This makes Muse a non-starter for photo galleries.  This is basic capability.  Adobe should be embarrassed that LR4 doesn't do what it should in this regard, and that the feature needed don't even exist in Muse.  Everyone expects a few bugs in the early days of a new software, but not missing essential, fundamental features to make web galleries useful.
    Rant now over and I will happily apologize if the metada fields are, indeed, available.  Please explain how.  Thanks.

  • Metadata not populating captions

    I'd really appreciate some help with this problem... I want to set up a page of thumbnails and then display a selection of information from the metadata as a caption below each one. This has worked well in the past, but now only the info re the lens used (and any text I add in the captions text boxes) shows. I've tried re-inserting the images ensuring I'm using the 'place' command, re-linked the image, triple checked that the metadata is there (as it shows in photoshop, Bridge and in the image info itself) - but still nothing.
    What's really wierd is that if i open a previous document (that worked), delete the captions and then re-generate static or live captions, it's all fine....but when I do the same thing using the same image with the same metadata and properly linked in my NEW document, it just won't do it! Though the caption set-up is the same etc. The only thing I can think of is that my new Iddesign document is 'faulty' in some way, or the programme itself is having a bad day??
    I just can't work out what I'm missing, so any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.

    Well I have good news and strange news. The good news is that when I linked the image file you posted to the file you posted, I was able to make your live captions work perfectly. I could also generate static captions and they worked as well. This suggested to me that you don't have a problem with your InDesign file per se or necessarily your image files. I opened your photo in Photoshop and Bridge (both CS5.5 versions) and was able to see the metadata that you wanted to include in your live captions in both programs the same as you were.
    So, what's the problem then and why does it work for me and not you? I am running CS5.5 on a Mac. It may simply be the difference between CS5.5 and CS5. However, this is where things get strange. I thought I'd see if I could re-create your results. When I opened your photo in Photoshop and re-saved it as a JPG and/or a TIF I found that the EXIF metadata was removed (correction - not "removed" from the JPG or TIF file, but removed from view in InDesign) and the live and static captions no longer functioned. All other types of metadata (or so I assume, admittedly I didn't test absolutely everything) seemed to be intact. So, as you noted, your problem does seem to lie with the EXIF metadata. Just to be sure it wasn't a strange glitch with your photo, I pulled up a few of my own photos downloaded and untouched from my camera. Completely untouched images came through into InDesign with EXIF metadata intact and coming into the live/static captions correctly. Images manipulated in any way, including saved straight from the Camera Raw dialog as JPG or TIF formats lost their EXIF metadata.
    A couple of potential solutions/thoughts...and perhaps someone else can build on this. There are some scripts out there and/or plugins that people have created to deal with the EXIF metadata issue. Looking around a bit, this one by Phil Harvey seems to be pretty popular, though I'm afraid I can't personally vouch for it: http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/index.html This isn't the only tool out there though, so if it's not the one for you, keep looking.
    The fact that your photo worked for me in CS5.5 makes me think that there is a possibility that your photo was saved in a way that didn't remove the EXIF metadata and/or the metadata was still readable by CS5.5. If this is a feature you will be taking advantage of a lot it might be worth updating InDesign to a newer version, but keeping your photo processing method the same until you know that Adobe has worked out this problem.
    And the low-tech, but most annoying process would be to manually copy and paste the metadata you want to show up in your live captions into "stand in" unused categories in another section of your metadata. For instance take the "ISO Speed" and put it in the "Description" category. If you used the same lens, film speed, camera, etc. for a batch of photos you could build a metadata template that could fill in most of the data for you. Really not the optimal solution, but better than not having it work at all. I'll let you know if I run across something better!

  • Metadata, such as captions, readable by other programs?

    I need to organize a large number of historical photographs which have all been scanned. If I caption them with the information that I have for each, does that information remain in iphoto only, or if I send that photo to someone else does the info remain with the file? Can that information be read by other photo software?  If not, is there some other software system which does that? For some of the photos, I have a .pdf document that goes along with a group of photos identifying buildings and people but I'd like something that is right with each photo, basically the equivalent of writing on the back of a photo. Sorry if this is an extremely basic question. I'm coming at this from a history background, not a photo background.

    does that information remain in iphoto only
    Paula, are you asking about Aperture or iPhoto? This is the Aperture Forum .
    In Aperture you can export all those metadata tags, that are part of the IPICT standard export along with the image (write into the image file), and other Applications will be able to read it, see this article on IPICT Meta Data:
    Photo Meta Data: http://www.iptc.org/IPTC4XMP/
    If you export a version of your image, the IPICT will be included; if you export the original masters, you can specify so in the export dialogue. You can also write the meta data to an IPICT sidecar file, see the link above.
    What you can specify with the IPICT data you see, if you set the selector in the Metadata Tab of the Inspector panel to "IPICT Core".

  • Expanded Metadata and Keywording Support

    I have been trying to work with Metadata and Keywording for photographs lately, and I have been a bit frustrated with how vague the subject is. I feel that the ability to find photos using a standardized controlled language is a very important topic as digital photo collections grow larger and larger.
    I had an idea of one place where Adobe and the Lightroom and Photoshop teams could help and I don't think that there would be too much development work involved.
    In the past Adobe worked with IPTC to come up with Metadata templates which are now standard in Photoshop as the IPTC Core. IPTC also has put together an extensive albeit difficult to use (in its current format) set of Codes for the Core fields. My idea is this; incorporate the IPTC Codes into the Core templates in both Photoshop and Lightroom as a dropdown field instead of a free format field. This way photographers could begin to use a globally accepted controlled vocabulary as part of their metadata strategy.
    I would also love to see Adobe use its position as an industry leader on standardization to work with leading archivists to write White Papers on the subject of keywording and controlled vocabulary and provide accepted strategies and conventions for setting up a metadata system. It would also be great if these same experts could work on an expanded number of Keyword Sets to help photographers kickstart their keywording efforts.

    The utility "psedbtool" will write metadata (keywords, captions, notes, dates, star ratings) to the metadata of most file formats, and for formats that it doesn't understand, it will write .xmp sidecars:

Which is best solution type u201CPartner Specificu201D or u201CGlobally Availableu201D to suit our needs? Which license type will protect our interests and allow us controlling that a customer may not be able to download licenses more than specified in agreement?

    Without having a look in your system it is hard to say what can be the reason for that.
    you have to know that the master data changes does not reflect automatically in inventory controlling.
    I suggest you to set up the report RMCBNE32 as periodical (e.g. monthly) background job.
    it also would be good to compare the walues in table S032 and MBEW for those materials. This also can be a reason for a difference. The values mus be the same on plant level.

  • Adobe CQ5.5 Digital Asset - Delete default metadata and how to create custom metadata

    Hi
    I am trying to create custom metadata for all format of assets (PDF, DOC, TXT, etc.,). I have created the dam folder under apps node as below:-
    Step 1:  /apps/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems
    Step 2:  Included the four property as textfield and selection according to our requirement under formitems
    Step 3:  I changed the cq:allowedTemplates from /content/dam/jcr:content
    Step 4:  I tried to upload the asset, I could get the custom metadata for Txt, Doc, PPT, XLSX
    Step 5:  But for JPG, PNG and PDF I am getting the default metadata which is huge list.
    How to control this one? I want my custom metadata only displayed for creation assets. Find the attached.
    CRX - Custom Template Configured
    CRX - Custom Metadata populated for ZIP format
    CRX - Custom Metadata not populated for PDF format

    Hi,
    If you read the description under section http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/dam/how_to_edit_metadata.html#Creating New Metadata Property for Assets you will find yout the format for images and its different format stores at different location. So to deal with image metadata plz try below
    1. Create a "image" node under "/apps/dam/content/asseteditors" as sling folder and configure it similar to "/apps/dam/content/asseteditors"
    2. under this folder again copy paste the "/libs/dam/content/asseteditors/formitems" and customize it accordingly
    Above will help you to manage with all types of images. Now if you want to have separate group of property for different image types then similar to above you have to create format node inside image folder for example jpg file type create a node with name "jpeg" under "image" node & configure similarly as you did for image.
    I hope it will help you to proceed. Please let me know for more information.
    Thanks,
    Pawan

  • UIX: How to get tooltip help on tabs and global buttons?

    Our users love tooltip help (the yellow pop-up help text that is displayed when you hold the mouse above an image or hyperlink). The shortDesc attribute sets the tooltip help on most elements. But it doesn't seem to work for (level 1) tabs (i.e. a link element within a tabBar within tabs) and global buttons (i.e. a globalButton element). Is this just not implemented by the UIX renderers or am i missing something?

    Adam,
    We are NOT using UIX JSP. We have written our
    own controller and our render actions take the UIX file
    and call the UIX API's to render the page.
    In UIX we have the following definition of a global button:
    <globalButton icon="images/uitloggen.gif" destination="javascript:go1('global_uitloggen')" shortDesc="uitloggen"/>
    It generates (renders as):
    <img src="images/uitloggen.gif" border="0">
    Note that there is no "alt" attribute in the "img" element.
    In UIX we have the following definition of a link within a tabs and tabBar element:
    <link text="bestelling" destination="javascript:go1('global_bestellen')"
    data:rendered="CLU_BESTELLEN@cqj2ee:USERPRIVS" shortDesc="Hier kunt u ..."/>
    It generates (renders as):
    <area shape="poly" coords="107,21,118,0,194,0,202,8,202,21" alt="Selecteer deze optie om te gaan naar bestelling." href="javascript:go1('global_bestellen')">
    Note that the "alt" attribute has a generated text and doesn't use the value of the shortDesc attribute
    in the link element in UIX.

  • Update image metadata programatically

    Hi
    I developed a plugin, which changes exif information of the image (using a third party program). Is there a way to inform Lightroom programatically to refresh image metadata? Right now I have to right-click on the folder and choose "Synchronize Folder...".

    There's at least one ODBC driver for SQLLite http://www.ch-werner.de/sqliteodbc/, and maybe command line access to the database too
    But there's nothing directly through Lightroom, and you won't be able to code Lightroom to refresh EXIF data. There is no coding mechanism to write to EXIF fields or to refresh the image (ie sadly you can't automate Metadata > Read Metadata).
    If you write directly to the SQL while LR is open, the best you can expect is that the EXIF will use updated data from the database when you next click on that image in Library. However, you are likely to encounter database locking problems  and stand a good chance of corrupting the database. Abandon all hope, ye who enter here?

  • Reading Image Metadata..

    Hi,
    I am converting some PHP pages to JSP. There is an image gallery page where images are being displayed and also the comment and Author names is displayed under that image.Those things are set as image metadata.
    The code for doing this in PHP looks like....
    $exif = exif_read_data($full_file_path, 0, true);
    foreach ($exif as $key => $section)
                                            foreach ($section as $name => $val)
    echo $section['Comments'];
    echo $section['Author'];
    How can I achieve this in java i.e. how can I read author and comment metadata fields using java....
