Thanks for the information and your help. I have never bothered before changing the format. Next time I will.
I copied the library to the external drive and then it went and said they were referenced files but I was okay about that. Now it cannot see them and will not do anything with them. I think I will buy another external drive and start again by importing all of my files again. I guess 55K will keep the mac busy this week.

When I right click to save as an image it does not let me save the image as anything but "all files".

When I right click on an image to do a save as it does not let me save the image as a jpeg, all that is in the drop down menu is "all files" which saves it as a bunch of numbers and letters etc. It save it as an aspx file.

Try to add the .jpg file extension yourself if Firefox doesn't do that when you save an image file.<br />
If you've already saved images with a wrong file extension then rename them and add a .jpg file extension. Check the Properties of the file via the right-click context menu to see if that has worked.

I know how to get my old tabs back but every time I close Firefox it always warns me that I am closing multiple tabs.

Do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the "Browsing History".

Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.

I have tried everything on your articles and still it will not let me save bookmarks.

I have tried upgrading and downgrading firefox and i have tried everything in the articles and still the browser does not let me save any bookmarks.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Safari will not let me save pdf

im not sure but Safari 5.1.5 will not let me save pdf?

A couple of thoughts. It appears there may be two issues--one is saving a PDF that Safari has loaded in the browser window, while the second (which is the one John was talking about) is saving a standard HTML page as a PDF document.
For the PDF loaded in Safari: Is it possible you might have loaded up a third party PDF ready (like Adobe Acrobat Reader) that might have installed itself to handle PDFs in Safari? I've not checked, but wonder if that might disable the "normal" Safari options that would be available with Preview.
If the PDF is displayed, you should get a black box at the bottom of the window if you place the mouse cursor there while Safari has focus. While not perfect, if you select the far right icon it will save the PDF to your Downloads folder. If you select the second from the right, it will load the PDF into a stand-alone instance of your standard PDF reader and from there you would be able to save the file anywhere you want using a Save As command in the reader.
For HTML to PDF--that is controlled with the Print command, using the option at the lower left of the print dialog to print to PDF (which is the menu John showed you). That works for all files *except* PDFs (since printing a password protected PDF to a new PDF would effectively strip the password and would also strip out other features of the PDF, you aren't allowed to print PDFs to PDF).

Will not let me save a new word processing on iMac, says: "untitled.pages-tef" couldn't be opened.

Opened new blank document in PAGES. Went file/save, normal SAVE window comes up. I fill it out and then it will not let me save says: "untitled.pages-tef" couldn't be opened. It is opened.

Not letting me save

Photoshop is not letting me save. When I click the save as or Save button in the drop down menu it doesnt do anything. Help.

The cause is likely that your display doesn't have 768 pixels vertically. Photoshop fails to put up the Save As dialog under that condition.
Unfortunately, there's no easy workaround to this - your system doesn't meet the minimum requirement of a 1024 x 768 pixel display.
If there's a way you can select a higher resolution, though screen elements may be blurry or tiny, the dialog will probably show up.

Are you trying to save to a local drive? or are you trying to save to a networked drive?
Does this occur with all InDesign CC files? Or just one particular file?
What happens if you create a New InDesign document and try to save it into your Documents folder.
Are you on Mac or PC? Try checking permissions for directories in which you are saving, or on Mac fixing permissions errors (Disk Utility).
Also if the problem occurs for all files. Try renaming the InDesign preferences folder and clearing caches. See http://helpx.adobe.com/indesign/kb/indesign-preferences-support-file-locations.html for more information about this.

Might be a caching issue. Have you tried different browsers or clearing your browser cache?
Are you hosting on Business Catalyst or a third party hosting service?

Flash not letting me save new .as files.

Starting today, Flash Pro CS5.5. started not allowing me to save new .as files. I was working in a .fla file containing a MovieClip entitiled 'Background'. From the library, I control-clicked on 'Background' and selected 'Edit Class'. As usual, Flash created a file called 'script 1' , but then it wouldn't let me save it withe the appropriate filename 'Background.as'. (see error message screenshot). I also noticed that Flash gives me the same message no matter what filename I attempt to give the script. However, saving it on the desktop and then moving it into the correct directory afterwards worked. Any ideas? Is this a setting that got messed up somehow where Flash won't let me save to certain directories? I don't know if this is related, but I just installed the latest Java update from Apple today before having this problem. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Adobe reader x will not let me save pdfs

i am a student so i need to save a lot of pdfs from databases like jstor. for some reason, adobe reader x will only allow me to save 1 pdf, after which if i click the save button on the next pdf i open nothing will happen. after a seemingly random period of time i am then able to save another pdf. this is terribly annoying, i need a fix. anyone know whats going on here?
after fiddling around a little bit, i find that if i "reset toolbars" it lets me save consecutively. this is still very annoying.

I have spent two days at ti, but have finally resolved it myself. I deleted my Adobe Reader and installed an older version, and the problem disappeared. By the way, I also tried AR11, but the probelm was there too.

IUploader Issue, not letting me save excel file from within email, as it shows in directions, why not?

I have been researching for hours how to be able to browse to and select an excel file to upload, when on a website that has an upload button.
From my research, it stated in iUploader, a user should be able to download an excel file and store it in iUploader's app, and then visit website in iUploader's browser and then select the file from there in order to upload it.
Well, I can't even get the stupid app to save it as it shows in screen prints directions within the apps home page.

No, that doesn't work for me. And things seem to be inconsistent. Where it lets you vary the file size (small/medium/large/actual) when large and actual are the same, it doesn't send the actual jpeg file for windows to open. When large and actual size files are different when you toggle between the two, the file seems to go through to my windows pc ok. When I tried this through preview, that's when I noticed this difference, not through just email or Aperture yet. Help!

Adobe Muse will not let me choose text

All of a sudden I am unable to choose and format text in a text block in Adobe Muse. There seems to be a bug that won't let me choose parts of the text, only all of nothing. The cursor won't insert itself into the text.

I have pages, numbers and keynote on my macbook pro, but when i try to use the apps on my new iMac it will not let me save

I purchased Pages, Numbers and Keynote for my MacBook Pro and iPad last year. I just purchased a new iMac for my wife and it came with iWorks. When I try to save a document on the iMac it tells me I must buy an iWorks serial number, but the App Store shows the applications as installed and will not process the request. How do I correct?

Did you pay for iWorks to come preinstalled on the iMac? Because it sounds like what you have is a trial version, which is why it is stating that you need to buy a serial number.
I suggest that you delete the entire trial iWorks suite. Once they are safely in the Trash where the Mac App Store can't see them, you can sign into your account on the MAS and download the MAS versions that you own a license to use.
