Muse moving around objects when published or previewed

This has been driving me completely nuts. I've seen plenty of posts on here about it but no real answers! I also spent hours in a chat room with a Muse specialist who had virtually nothing to say to help me with this issue. Muse continues to jumble up my pages when I publish them. Boxes move, spacing gets screwed up; I can't take it anymore! I've emailed Muse support twice but no reply. I also messaged a rep. on here, also no reply.
Here are a couple of screenshots to show you whats going on:

THIS. IS. DRIVING. ME. NUTS. What is the deal here? Please help!

I assume this reply didn't help?

It appears you resolved the issue? Or is there a layout problem I'm not noticing?
The most common cause of layout differences is the differences in text layout engines and fonts between browsers, browser versions and devices.
The exact height text frames are drawn in Muse Design view relative to the height of the actual text within the frame is important. Exactly how (and whether) objects overlap or fully contain one another in Muse Design view is important. Finally, how items are grouped in Muse Design view impacts how the HTML is generated and can be a tool to control how your pages respond to differences in layout between browsers and devices.
Given your specific visual design, a few recommendations will reduce the likelihood of variation:
1) Be sure text frames are drawn taller than the text they contain, so that no dotted line appears within the text frames (which is an indicator of the minimum height for the text frame being set). If a minimum height line appears, then if the text is slightly shorter when laid out in the browser that will result in the text frame shrinking in height and things below moving up and/or things that contain it also shrinking in height.
2) Use grouping to create horizontal bands for your image buttons. Grouping in this way will cause any fluctuation in the height or position of objects entirely above the grouped band to move the entire band up or down. Without such grouping Muse is biased toward creating columns such that something above changing height only impacts the position of items (roughly) directly below.
3) Be sure heading text frames don't overlap your buttons. If they do, they may either not shift in vertical position when content above shifts or they may shift position without also shifting the items below them.
None of the above is really specific to Muse. When working on the web the text is live and how it lays out will vary from browser to browser. The structure of the generated (or hand coded) HTML needs to be informed as to how you want things to react when those variations occur. Muse does its best to automatically do the right thing, but can't in every situation and only does as well as the information in the layout provided. If there are unintentional overlaps or minimum text frame heights set, the layout is more likely to not respond as expected/desired when layout variations occur.

  • Help with muse - deleted pages appearing when published

    Hi there!
I published my website through Muse, then later in design mode deleted certain pages, and then re-published the website. Problem is, the old pages are still published, and appearing in search results and through links in my page.
Are you able to help please? Is there a setting I tick when publishing the site to avoid this?
    Thank you in advance
    Huey

Aside - Where are you Publishing to? Is it to the Adobe BC host?
Try a Export to HTML then look in that folder and see if the deleted xxxxx.html files are listed.
I just tested a site with 2 pages - Note .html files in exported folder >>
    Then I deleted the untitled-4.html - Re-exported -  and >>
Note - untitled has been deleted.

  • Muse buttons appear garbled when published to BC. Files look fine when exported to html.

See attached.  BC publishing can not be trusted. This has happened several times.

Why does this forum miniaturize attached images so you can't see the detail? See attached enlargement. This only appears when published to BC. Ok when exported to html. Can't trust BC

  • Hey, why do Muse buttons appear garbled when published to Business Catalyst?

Buttons look fine when exported to html and uploaded to normal web server. So what's going on with BC. Also sometimes BC delays new files, or fails to render new files. See attached screen print.

It appears the size of the image generated by Muse for the top, middle and bottom slices of the rounded corner bevel image is slightly too wide for the button and thus it wraps around by a couple pixels.
Aishvarya, can you check in the BC backend to see what width these three PNG images are on the BC servers?

The images being served are all 1521 pixels wide, but they should be 1515 pixels wide. It's unclear whether BC is serving an older cached version of the images or whether Muse generated and uploaded images of the wrong width. Thanks.

  • Muse failing dropping pages when published

I have noticed that Muse is failing to publish all pages in my site. I had to call BC support thinking it was there end because the web pages was not available on the server when I checked my pages. All my setting was intact and accurate, I checked these pages to be exported from the site plan. I had to use ftp client to publish the missing pages.

Did you try selecting "All Files" in the "Options" panel of the "Publish" dialog?
If any manual changes are made to the files/folders published via the Muse Publish feature, Muse will be unaware of those changes. If you use an FTP client application to alter files hosted on BC, there's a good chance you'll need to select "All Files" in the Muse "Publish" dialog "Options" section in order to get Muse back in sync with what's on the published site.

  • Masking unwanted objects when publishing a .swf

    Hi
I maybe missing the point or simply not ticking a tick box, but can someone help me please?
I've created a web banner for one of my publications that I work on (please find at the following address http://images.samedanltd.com/gsky/images/GreenSky_160x600.swf). As you can see I have some aircraft flying away from the tree at the bottom, what I would like to happen that they dissappear  when they pass the keyline. I had thought that if I continued the animation onto the pasteboard that when it came to publishing, flash would ignore items this grey area and would act as a trim, am I correct in thinking this? How would I go about correct this so that only the animation within the set parameters appear?
Also is there a way of setting the scale of a flash banner? I have a feeling that this is so simple, but just can't find the panel to set it all.
    Many thanks
    Jean-Philippe

    Hi Jean Philippe,
You need to mask it out.
    Just start a new layer.
Change the properties of that layer to mask.
On that layer draw a rectangle, the same size (dimensions) as your fla.
Rverything under the mask layer will be seen. Stuff outside the mask boundaries will be invisible.
    Hope that helps

  • Muse site not displaying correctly when 'Published' to BC

    Hi all
Strange incidents happening with a Muse site I'm designing for a client. When I use the Publish feature (which uploads the site to the default Business Catalyst domain you get with the Muse subscription) it throws  the elements all over the place, so buttons, type, imaegry and widgets aren't wheere they should be.
I've cleared the cache, restarted the browser, tried in other browsers and still the same result, so pretty unhappy.
When I 'Preview' the site in a browser everything seems perfect.
Bizarre thing is when designing my first ste the opposite was the case; lots of visual problems when using 'Preview' but perfect when 'Published' to BC.
Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?
    All help appreciated

    Hi gaurav
Thanks for the reply, think we have the solution. Apparantly Muse is not uploading the updated CSS files. I created a test domain on my own website to use for this project and uploaded via Fetch and everything worked fine.
So it looks like it's an issue with Muse

  • Why when I am converting a word doc into a PDF are some of the pages moving around. It appears to be

Why when I am converting a 50 page word doc into a PDF using Acrobat XI Pro the pages are moving around.
It appears to be happening in the places where the previous page is not a complete full page, just a half page.
It is moving these pages up into the previous half page, but it is only moving them several lines into that page
Which has totally distored my e-book.
It is attaching all my pattern sheets at the very end of the file okay, etc.

Also, to be more sure you get in the PDF what you are seeing in WORD, go to the print menu and select the Adobe PDF printer, then go back to editing. The is a feature of almost all word processors to reflow the document for best results with the attached printer. It is also one of the problems of using WORD forms that such form designers miss. If you don't like the reflow, many the Adobe PDF printer your default and always print to Acrobat. If you want it to go to a printer, then print from Acrobat to that printer and it should remain intact. The other way to avoid the reflow is to use a layout program like Publisher or InDesign.

  • Text / Type on a site I created in Muse CC is disappearing when I preview

I created a site in Adobe Muse CC is disappearing when I publish. It seem to only be on type that has movement or fading attached. It all is there and looks fine when not previewing.
    Any suggestions?
    Thank you in advance.

If you have applied Scroll Motion to the text chunks you have reported as missing, chances are, that the settings in the Scroll Motion panel are causing this behavior. Try reducing the values so that they cause little movement. Also confirm the height of the page on which you have added the text.

  • Photoshop CS2 redraw garbage when moving around an image window on my G4 laptop

Hi.I recently had to reinstall Photoshop CS2 onto my Mac Laptop 1.5 GHz PowerPC G4, running system 10.4.11, which required a new hard drive after the old one died. I am immediatly encountering a serious redraw/image repositioning problem in Photoshop that I have never seen before, and in Imageready as well. This does not happen in Macromedia Fireworks 8 however.
I am zoomed into an image. Using the hand tool, or the scroll bars or the arrows, as soon as I move an image little messed up line graphic glitches appear and stay in place for the remainder or working with an image, and ultimately covers the image completely after moving around within it a number of times. you can see examples of this in these screenshots I've uploaded:
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage04.gif
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage03.gif
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage02.gif
and the lines stay the same size and position even when zooming in. here's the same image w/ the same defects zoomed out and in:
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage01.gif
    http://pixeljam.com/temp/photoshopRedrawGarbage/moveGarbage01_zoomed.gif
I've tried trashing & re-installing photoshop completely, tried running it before the updates needed from the original Photoshop application disk, and after. still the same problem.
This occurs only when using the laptop on its own. When I hook it up to my Apple Studio Cinema Display, it works fine. The problem does not occur on the Cinema Display OR the laptop screen! it's very odd. Basically, the laptop is now something I cannot actually use away from my desk until this is resolved.
Has anyone ever encountered this or possibly have any suggestions or advice? Thanks so much!
    -Rich

Hi. Thanks for your responses. There is definitely some incorrectness in the info I provided about the computer. for the Hard Drive, it's odd.. I copied and pasted that from my system profiler.. In actuality the Hard Drive is 74.53 GB. Not sure how that error occurred.
Also I looked again at the computer's memory. I forgot the second larger 1GB memory card when I was copying and pasting from the system profiler. Sorry about that. I was in a but of a rush to get the question out.

Another thing I noticed about the problem I'm facing is that it leaves defects from mouse trails as well in the image window. None of the defects are lasting nor will they print. I close the file and they go away, if I zoom, they stay the same size. I'd agree, it sounds like a video card problem, but the reason I posted here is that only in photoshop and imageready do these problems occur. My guess, if it's the video card is that they are just programs that require more of the system. why my video card would be crapping out now, I have no idea. but I guess that's how it goes.
But why would it work fine when hooked up to the apple cinema display? even on the laptop screen itself the problem is not present. only when the laptop is on its own.
The computer has served me very well for almost 3 years without this problem, so that's why it's something that is not a normal problem that should be expected from this computer. I am grateful to have it & can't afford a new one.. this one is still sitting on my credit card balance. Thankfully I am under the applecare protection plan and will bring it in to the local Mac shop on monday and demonstrate the issue to them.
    Thanks for your replies.

  • Works in preview but not when published in captivate 8?

My youtube widget used in captivate 8 works just fine in the preview, but when published there's nothing where the video should be, any idea as to why?

    Hi Robert,
as far as I understand your post, you are missing some kind of "button-artwork" in the published file, but do not report a problem with the "action" that the script should perform.
My guess would be that it will be hard to help you without having a better understanding what your trying to achive and how (are you using a prebuilt component, or did you build the button fron scratch etc....)
It might be even necessary to have a look at the fla itself.

    Hi Jaap,
Are you sure about your FTP credentials (FTP folder and site URL) that you are using for the upload? Are you able to see the updated files in the remote directory of the FTP server, after you finish uploading the muse file, using an external FTP client like FileZilla?

  • Windows Crashes with JRE 1.4.2  When Moving around JDialog

    Hi!
I work on a Java Applet/application that was originally written to run on java 1.1 -- only AWT that too. Recently I managed to convince my manager (and his manager and his manager) to migrate from the AWT framework on java 1.1 (Microsoft JVM that is ) to Swing/JFC on Sun Java 1.4.2 ... it took a lot of explaining, demostrating, begging, pleading etc., to get this project funded.
Now, my app is all developed in JFC and ready for deployment and during testing found a potential show stopper -- When a Dialog Box or any moveable componant (internal windows etc) is moved around (holding down the mouse on the title bar of a dialog and dragging it around), the OS simply froze up ... nothing could be done other than power cycling the PC. Does anyone know if its a bug in JRE 1.4.2 and if it has been fixed?? This could potentially result in rolling back to AWT :(( .... and of course me looking like a fool in front of my manager!!
..... Please provide any suggestion other than moving to JRE 1.5.x beta. I've also noticed this happening in other Java Applications (Netbeans for example). So, I think this is a major bug the JRE 1.4.2.
A million thanks and few Duke Dollars for anyone pointing me in the right direction.
    Note:
    1. This problem is not just with my app ... some other java apps that are installed on my workstation (like netbeans) behave the same when Moving Around dialog boxes.
    2. The behaviour is very random. But it has happened multiple times (and the very first time my manager run our app on jre 1.4.2)
I would give a million dollars if I had them. But for now, please do with the million thanks and few duke dollars.

Have you tried this on another machine?Yes ... actually this has happened on a few workstations here ... all of them are Pentium IV based dell workstations running Windows 2000.
What exact version of 1.4.2 did you download?Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.2_04
Using JRE version 1.4.2_04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
Have you searched the bug database? This one could be related to yours:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4673572
This sounds similar but the difference is its not just the app that feezes up (so that you could do an alt+ctrl+del and kill it)..... the OS freezes up and you can move the mouse around still the system even queu e is not full and eventuall all I hear is the beeping. At this point I've to power cycle.
Is there any way you could post the code or is it too big? Or, have you tried just creating a very small >application or applet that just shows one dialog, and if so, does that show the same problem? (What I'm >trying to get at here is - is it something in your code that is causing this, or something in the JRE, or >perhaps something to do with your machine's configuration/OS?)Unfortunately I cannot post the code ... its company rules and regulations. I've tried creating a very small app and it appears to work ok .... but randomly causes this freeze up. There is no definate pattern (except that it happens when you move around a JDialog or a JInternalFrame) . It could freeze up some time and work perfectly fine at other times. It has actually happened on other applications too (Netbeans, JEdit etc). That's why I suspect this might be a obscure bug in the JRE.
I'll try to find a pattern so that it can be re-produced by everyone.
    Thanks for the help.
