Muse placeholder formats for in-browser editing

My client needs to replace a calendar on a monthly basis in Muse, Can I insert a PDF file of the Calendar that she can replace with an updated PDF calendar each month? if not would it have to be a jpeg format?

The In Browser editing does not support PDF files and for JPG files she would only be able to select images that are already on the server.
So you have two options:
1: Host with Business Catalyst and upgrade to the webMarketing plan and use the literature module (easiest)
2: Set up the client with an FTP program for them to upload the new pdf file over top of the old one. PDF must be named exactly the same for this so it doesn't create a broken link.

When I delete a photo from a page, it does not stay in the assets panel. My client uses in browser editing daily. Once a week he changes a photo just for a day, then needs the previous photo to replace it. The original photo is not in the asset panel (or folder) for him to choose.
When you upload a photo, it has an arrow in the asset panel. How do you use this as an asset?

Sure ... right mouse click on your page and choose 'Exclude Page from Menus' :-)

Credentials for In-Browser Editing in Business-Catalyst

IN-BROWSER-EDITING is a really cool service, but it seems there’s one quite critical point to this.
Sharing the test-site means for me, communicating the url to someone, so he can have a look at the actual site via, e. g.: myproject.businesscatalyst.com/ or even on my own server, e. g. www.myproject.com/ with no further interaction possibility.
But I’d like to open the gate for the client to edit texts by himself, as shown in Dani Beaumont’s video “Katie’s Café” / www.katiesbakerycafe.com. Here’s the clip :

Now, if I host the site on my own server, things are quite clear: I’ll set up a separated ftp access for my client.
But if I host the site on Business Catalyst, things don’t look so clear anymore.
Katie would like to edit Details like her daily specials and things like photos of her bakery items. Therefor, so she needs to log-into the site administration. I was chatting with the MUSE-Support this morning and they suggested I should share my credentials to the client (Katie) so she can log-into the project and edit things online. Hmm…
But I don’t think Dani Beaumont, like me, would like to share her Adobe-Product-Manager’s credentials with Katie. Would she?
Support: Yes, you can share the url but for editing you have to share the credentials
Me: And Tom’s Sandwich over the road wouldn’t like Katie to have access to his projects-files Dani is also working on.
I can’t really believe Adobe is suggesting us to share our own credentials, i. e. working with and even producing such a massive security issue in Creative Cloud. I hope not. Well, actually I think I missed something. Or didn’t I?
Any hints would be much appreciated!

Hi,
Rather than sharing your credentials, you'll want to add "Katie" as a user of the Business Catalyst site. There is a direct link to "Add In-Browser Editing Users" in the dialog that shows up after Publish completes.
The same page can be accessed by selecting the File > Manage Business Catalyst Site menu in Muse, and then (in the Business Catalyst page that opens in the browser) selecting Site Settings > Admin Users.

With Muse, can you use In-browser editing of websites using Third-party Hosting Service Providers or not?

I found out how to do it, you drag the bounding box of the image container or rectangle to the edge of the browser boundary - as in the gray area around the edge - it snaps to it and the edges of the container go red to show this, and when its previewed it spans 100% of browser width. I can't upgrade as I have windows vista and the new version doesn't run on Vista, don't really want to buy a new computer just to run the latest Muse!

What is the CSH call format for AIRHelp BROWSER format?

I have read for the AirHelp application help. What is the AIRHelp Browswer call format? Is it the same as the webhelp or flashelp? Pro version?

Speaking from experience (and Jeff can attest to this as he has replied to one of my own queries on this site), Peter Grainge's site and some of the other seemingly Adobe-funded sites say that calling context-sensitive help through Air Browser Based Help is the same as when calling WebHelp, but I'm not sure it's that simple.
I've had limited success in using the existing WebHelp API that comes out of the box with RH9.
From my experience so far, you will be able to:
Launch a specific page of your Air Browser Help using context-sensitivity.
But, using the newwnd=false option will not work if you prefer to launch the help in your main browser window rather than a popup.
Hopefully Adobe is working on this as we speak.

Edited PDF form won't update for in browser editing.

So I was sent a form that I had previously made editable that was changed and I had to add text boxes and check boxes. But after saving and opening in the browser window, the new fields I added aren't allowing me to type or check them in the browser, but when I open the pdf in Acrobat Pro, all of the fields are showing up. Is there a special way to save the pdf to make it editable in the browser? I did this once before and it worked fine so this is a mystery to me at the moment. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Is In Browser Editing available if I cancel my pay as you go Muse subscription?

As a newcomer to Muse I'm basically paying for Muse as and when I have a customer that needs a website designing hence what I want to know is if I design a website and then cancel my pay as you go subscription will my client then suddenly find they can't edit it anymore? Do I need to be paying for muse all the time for in browser editing to work?

Use of https://inbrowserediting.adobe.com is not dependent on having an active Muse subscription. Your client can continue to use it after your Muse subscription expires.

Adobe Muse in browser editing - BC webmarketing

Hi,
Can someone explain if there is a difference for the set up for in browser editing with BC if your starting point is;
- create blank site in BusinessCatalyst (webMarketing) and then create a site in Muse and publish on this BC site. It seems you then automaticly get the Business Catalyst in browser editing function.
- create a Muse site > publish to BC. Then it is a webbasic site.. and you get in browser editing the Adobe Muse style.
What's the way to go if your client need a site with the simple Muse in browser editing but a higher level BC then webBasic?

You can choose to create a site in Muse first and publish to BC, the site will be created as a web basics site. The web basics site also contains In Browser Editing in it. There's no relation between site plan and In Browser Editing. Once published, you can simply contact us via chat and we can upgrade the site plan for you as per your choice while still keeping the site in trail, should you choose to upgrade your site plan to Web marketing (or any other BC plan). Muse CC 2014 - In Browser Editing - if FTP access denied

Hi. We have a site built in Muse, the hosts have not allowed access via FTP so all changes must go through them = a real pain in the butt. So, this would be the perfect solution for the client to make their own edits and changes. My question is, is the fact that the host provider is denying direct access going to be a problem once the site is exported from Muse with settings correct etc for In Browser Editing? Will the In Browser Editing still work under these conditions?

Muse disables in browser editing of synchronised text

I check the box in page preferences "Engable in Browser Editing"
I also check the box "Enable for synchronised text
Fasthosts, is running PHP 5.4 (and the documentation states 5.1 for in browser editing of synchronised text).
And every time I upload the site, it tells me it's switched off the synchronised text editing.
Why would this be?
The site is this below. There's a phone and a desktop version with shared text.

This message will appear and InBrowser Editing of Synchronized Text will be turned off if/when Muse finds it cannot update the .htaccess file for your site during the upload process.
Synchronized text relies on the use of .php for the pages of your site that include synchronized text. This means that one or more of your existing .html pages would change from being mypage.html to mypage.php. That change would break external links to the page and potentially impact SEO. Therefore Muse will put information into the .htaccess file so mypage.html works as the name for mypage.php and external links and SEO are preserved. If Muse finds it cannot write updates to the .htaccess file, then it doesn't use .php for any of the pages of your site and your page file names don't change. However, that means updating synchronized text via InBrowser Editing isn't available, since it requires .php pages.

In-browser editing not working on some pages

I am working on a couple of Business Catalyst sites that are being built using Muse ( v7.4 build 30 on OS-X 10.9.3) and seeing different behaviour when trying to enable users to use the in-browser editing functionality.
On the first site: http://ttk-test-1.businesscatalyst.com/AdminConsoleXT/icecube/index.html
Everything works as expected. If I access other pages (i.e. not the home page) by clicking on any link, the destination page comes-up in editable mode.
On this second site: http://loxley-test-b.businesscatalyst.com/AdminConsoleXT/icecube/index.html
If I click on a manually created link on the home page, I get to the destination page and it is editable. As for the other site.
If I edit the browser url to go directly to any page, it is editable.
If I access pages by clicking on Muse Menu object links, whether automatically or manually generated, I notice that the displayed page changes to the destination, but the browser url doesn't. In this case the destination page is not editable, unless I access it directly by editing the url. Reading your Muse in-browser editing pages (Adobe Muse Help | Working with In-Browser Editing in Muse | Part 2), it seem that this should work? or have I misunderstood something?

So to summarise for anyone else reading this: the behaviour I have seen is as expected given the Muse bug with links that have effects applied.
And the only other workaround at the moment is to create an "edit page" with links to every other page, so that the users can use those to get to a page to edit it.

In Browser Editing Godaddy cPanel Setup

Trying to find info on how to setup separate ftp account for client login using godaddy cpanel. This is for in browser editing. When I called Muse help desk was told it's a godaddy issue and of course godaddy says it's a Muse issue.

Still can't get the new ftp setup login/password to work. Called godaddy went to ftp accounts in my cpanel created new account to test. domain is customedits.website, like I said works fine with my original login credentials. Here are the steps I used for the test account:
1. Created customeditsuser as new login
2. the folder that was created is home/myoriginalusername/public_html/customeditsuser/customedits.website
godaddy instructed me to add /customedits.website
3. And of course the password
In my FTP section it said the new account was successfully created so that part appears to be correct.
I'm sure it's something simple but I'm stuck. Below is a screenshot of the error message I'm getting.

Since In-Browser Editing is not able to connect to servers that are within local/private networks, the FTP host must be publicly available. Also, it will only work when published via "Upload to FTP Host..." which saves additional details needed for In-Browser Editing to function that "Export as HTML..." does not.

Unable to sign and use In-browser Editing for Adobe Muse CC 2014?

I'm unable to sign in and use the in-browser editing feature for my Adobe Muse created website, http://foreseeson.com
which is not hosted on Adobe Business Catalyst, but hosted on a third-party (TUCOWS) hosting service provider.
When prompted to enter hosting credentials (which do work -- I've verified this by successfully using the Connect to FTP Host feature within Adobe Muse),
I'm given this message on the Adobe® Muse™ CC In-Browser Editing website:
"The FTP server configured for this site doesn't seem to match the URL you entered.
Make sure that you use the Upload to FTP Host feature in Muse to publish the site directly to the final location and that you are logging on to In-Browser Editing with the same user."
is anyone else having this problem?

I am also unable to access the Inbrowser editing page now for 3 days. It won't open up, either in my clients site https://inbrowserediting.adobe.com/login/www.edc.org.za or another client also: https://inbrowserediting.adobe.com/login/www.calgan.co.za or just as plain https://inbrowserediting.adobe.com
I have tried it in 3 different browsers: Firefox, Chrome and Safari and it won't open up the site.
This is becoming a big problem for me as clients need to update remotely.
I used to be able to access these sites a few weeks ago and have not changed anything since. I don't have any special characters in the password and my IP is not being blocked. I am able to connect with FTP with Muse and with Dreamweaver. The sites are enabled for Inbrowser Editing under properties.
Any help would be appreciated.
