Muse site of the day: Similar slider effect creation

Hi,
I just viewed this site of the day :
http://musegrid-sevn.businesscatalyst.com/#services
I'm trying to recreate a similar effect that is being used in the service section as well as something simiar in the gallery section.
was wondering if this was an external widge that was used or was it an inbuilt widget that was used.
Could really use some clarification with this.

You can use one of the Composition widgets like Blank, Presentation or Tooltip and customize their options to achieve that effect easily.

  • SITE OF THE DAY page layout

We are trying to create a layout very similar to the one used for the MUSE Site of the day. 16 boxes, if you hover it shows the name of the design and if you click on it you go to the design page. We will be adding designs regularly, so ideally, the boxes would move as you add a new one. And we will have multiple pages -- older in one direction and newer in the other, so you need buttons at the top to go to older and newer design pages.

Please provide the site link which includes the effect you want to achieve.
    Thanks,
    Sanjit

  • What widget is used for this Site-of-the-Day?

My Muse website is for my design business, and I need to show several pages of design samples (covers, logos, tech art, etc.). I think a slideshow widget will work best, but I have problems with the built-in ones (another forum entry probably). I like this presentation from an Adobe Muse Site-of-the-Day (http://du2design.com), and like that the thumbnails "fade" back while the selection is in the front. I can't find any widget that does this; the thumbnails disappear completely. Can you tell me what widget was used here, or how one was modified? Thanks. Here is a screenshot of the effect.
(not sure how to add an image here)

    Anshul,
Thanks for the help. I changed the widget I had to your suggested one, and I think it's what I need. However, I still have problems with it which I don't seem be able to resolve. Most of the elements of the widget I can access and will be able to change (color, size, position, etc), but there are a couple of things I don't see options to solve.
    1. I "Placed" 20 cover samples into the widget, and they loaded OK and show in the Assets window. None of them are in the thumbnails, only the various gray tints. How can anyone select a sample or even see the samples that are presented? I can find no way to make the thumbnails reflect the samples.
    2. As I said, I placed 20 samples. The thumbnail container loaded all 20 items (tints), but the container just extends to the right outside the site dimensions in a single row. I don't see anyway to make the container multi-rows and stay within the boundaries of the site. This is how the example was presented, 15 samples with 3 rows of 5.
    3. My site has a static menu area in the upper left of the page for navigating the site, a master item. In design mode, the page has the widget placed to the right of this area, but in Preview mode (and also browser mode), the slideshow samples appear to the left of the position and overlap the menu area. I don't see any way of fixing this. Changing the position of the target area in the container further right makes no difference, it still Previews to the left of Design position and overlaps the menu.
I think this widget may work for my needs, but not if I can't resolve these issues listed above. I'd appreciate any help with this. Thanks,
    John B

  • Site of the day 21-nov-2014

    Hello people,
I was browsing the "site of the day" page to find some inspiration and I got into a website with a layout that I'd like to recreate, sort of...
    This is the one: http://www.astridantun.no
Vertical layout, with fullscreen background images (they scale with bigger screens), pinned text and objects, snap scroll and other cool stuff.
It's weird though, because when you scroll down it's like it goes to another page instead of just moving to the next anchor (that's why you can have full screen background and pinned objects in a vertical layout).
I was wondering... is it possible to recreate something like this without having to mess with the code? Does it use third party widgets?
I can't understand how it was created and which widgets I could use to make something that looks like this one.
    Thank you!

This site uses a number of third party widgets from QooQee <Adobe Muse Widgets>.
I believe the automatic scroll to next anchor effect you refer to is achieved using QooQee's free Anchor+ widget, though I could be wrong. A number of third party widget developers provide widgets for that particular effect. I believe widgets.mu was the first to provide that functionality with their free Scroll Wheel Anchors widget.
There are many free and paid widgets to choose from in the directory at Adobe Muse Widget Directory.

  • Campus Tours sites of the day - how do they use Captivate?

    Hello,
I'm new to Captivate and am still figuring out which situations it might be easier to use it rather than building something in Flash. I can see that quizzes, screen-casts and scenarios are obvious places. But I've also been looking at the first two 'Site of the Day' examples in the Adobe Captivate showcase (the campus tours of AI Philadelphia and Berklee College of Music) and I can't see how they would have used Captivate to produce them.
The examples are both very nice promotional presentations about universities and they look great - nice internal popups with videos, images etc. I understand that you could build widgets to provide these kind of features but I don't understand what the benefit would then be of importing these in to Captivate rather than just building it in Flash.  Am I missing something obvious?  Do people use Captivate for storyboarding and then move into Flash?
Any advise would be appreciated. I do love Captivate so far but am not sure how to put it to use most effectively.

It depends how fancy you want to get.
The easiest way to achieve this is to do as you currently have, but set the On Exit action for the final slide in each group to jump back to the Menu slide.
In order to give the user the option of continuing on to the next slide, you can place a button on the final slide of each group and set it's action to jump to the first slide of the next group.  You need to set up some variables and Advanced Actions to show/hide this button depending on whether or not the user has clicked the button on the menu to view all slides.  If they've just clicked the button for a particular group, the Continue button remains hidden and they'll be jumped back to the menu.  The disadvantage of this method is that it requires the user to click something at the end of each group to continue to the next.
If you want the user make their choice on the menu slide to play all sections one after the other, and then to be seamlessly taken to each new group without clicking anything, then you need to get slightly fancier with your Variables and Advanced Actions.  Basically, On Exit of the final slide in each group, instead of the action to jump back to the menu, you need to have it perform a check to see what the value of the variable is that determines whether to continue or not.  If the variable is 1 (to indicate continuous play), then it will jump to the beginning slide of the next group.  If the variable is 0, then it should jump back to the menu.
If you're unfamiliar with Captivate Advanced Actions and user variables, this is your opportunity to learn!

  • I'm a little confused about the Adobe Site of the Day submission.

Can you only submit if built with Muse?  Where can you submit an already built side with code?

The sites in the www.adobekb.com Site Of The Day gallery are Muse sites. Many contain HTML embed code for maps, Twitter feeds, forms, videos, analytics, etc., which can be simply copied/pasted into Muse Design view. Some contain animations created and placed/imported from Edge Animate or Flash Pro.
We do our best to screen the site of the day winners to exclude sites that were achieved by editing the HTML generated by Muse after export, since that workflow requires hand coding which is not what Muse is about. Sites that include copied/pasted embed code or small snippets of code inserted in the <head> section of Page Properties within Muse are fine.
    A couple caveats
    1) We recently removed one site that relied on hand editing after export from Muse, which either did not contain that code when the award was granted, or we missed it.
    2) Authors of sites are likely to continue to evolve their designs after the award is granted, so the site linked to may no longer be the exact site/code that was awarded Site Of The Day honors.
If you encounter a site in the gallery and are puzzled by how it was created with Muse, ask about it here. I'm sure the community would be happy to respond and the discussion would be educational for all.

  • Site of the Day?

I maybe have double post, sorry if I have.
A few years ago I came to this site for my daily inspiration
and to see all the new tricks to flash integrations. Additionally
to see just how many people actually follow a code of ethics and
design principles. Namely building sites with minimal 508
compliance for their audiences with valid scripts.
But now I find myself looking at the "Site of the Day" and
asking why would Adobe / Macromedia and the site owner allow this
    to be posted?
Take today’s SotD, the first thing I see when I go
there is very little 508 compliance and at least two HTMLscripting
    errors.
    No <NOSCRIPT>
The no Java Script alternate page has
    Java Script
    Using the embed tag
omitted the script type in the Java
Script for their marketing partner (both pages)
Additionally if you think about this from the end user
perspective, what if they do not have Java Script? Okay he's
thought about it and put some textual content there. But hey! Now
there are no images to be shown! I've now missed out on putting a
name and story with a face (Marketing 101).
Now, colors! Well the pictures are colorful but the
navigation links are so close to the fade the blend together, less
the rollover. Still the shades are less than 30% in difference and
the size comes in to play heavily now.
To tell you the truth this SotD has the least amount of
errors of all that I have seen going back to 2000 or more.
I am sure some of you might be thinking I am being a jerk at
pointing to this site as an example or perhaps you are disagreeing
    with what I have said.
To the first, you might be right. Yet it is a learning
experience for all of you that observe what I have noted above. To
the second, there is nothing to dispute.
Points to ponder: If you plan ahead to develop a website
think very hard about the intended audience and their possible
impairments. When developing sites for any government or
organization and those funded as such you need to do your absolute
best to adhere to the Section 508 Standards and to validate your
    HTML, CSS and Java Script.
Yes I know even the most prominent universities and well
known government agencies and others do not always follow these
rules, shame on them. There is always a way to properly develop to
avoid errors, take your time, do not get lazy and if all else fails
RTM (Read the Manual). Additionally check the cross browser and O/S
    compatibilities.
Have questions about these principles? Here are some good
    links to review:

    (Good article Greg)
One last thing I have to say! Dreamweaver, FrontPage and all
the rest are WYSIWYG editors not validation tools. It comes down to
just how knowledgeable you are and how much effort you are willing
to put in to a project.

    Thanks for the suggestion Bob!

    Hi Ginette,
The site that you are referring to does not appear to be a template that you can get your hands on, however, I will suggest that you contact the owner via their contact us page and see what can be done.

  • My issue is not a particular add-on, but not been able to find out which one has the royan hourse in it, every morning it scans throuth all the site visited the day before and send the information somewhere!

I first started thinking my all Forum passwords was stolen because all the link as mark as read, so I change my passwords but the problem persisted, so I installed a packet sniffer to see is was a problem of my password been taken as I changed them.. but I could not see that.... BUT as I watch the packets I notice al the domain links of the sites I visited the day before (100's) passing through.., I try testing again but only appends one a day (the first time, maybe twice a day) I open Firefox (3.6 - 3.6.13), how can I pin point the bad add-on? I remove the one I thought were the bad ones (a have 40 or so installed) with no luck, I ran Firefox in save mode and the problem went away!!.. Please help.. One of the add-on from the Firefox Add-on site is snooping on you users..

    Two thoughts:
    (1)     It is possible that your Adobe software was the result of belonging to a now-discontinued Adobe Print Service Provider program where for a certain annual membership fee, print service providers were provided with (a) both a Windows and Macintosh license to the Adobe print-oriented software products (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat) and (b) special direct product support as well as the ability to put your name on Adobe's website as a member of this program. The program ended over a year ago if I remember correctly.
    (2)     You may wish to contact Adobe Customer Support (not Technical Support) and see if they can track down any and all licenses associated with your company. If you have the names of the former employees who worked with this software, it would be helpful. Likewise, if you were a member of the discontinued Adobe Print Service Provider program, you may have some options for upgrading/updating the software you have.
Unfortunately, you cannot get any more definitive information about your situation on these forums.
    Good luck.

  • How do I add HTML5 animations from Adobe Edge in my Muse site?

For now, here are the steps to use Edge output in Muse.
Put all output files generated from Edge in the same folder that you want to export Muse output files. (keep all the subfolder structure e.g. edge_includes
In Muse, use Object->Insert HTML... menu to insert the following code:
    <iframe src="Project-Header-r1v1.html" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no">
    </iframe>
    Note
"Project-Header-r1v1.html" is a HTML file name that part of your Edge output.
Do not copy and paste the content in "Project-Header-r1v1.html" file directly since this refers to different jQuery file and it will also cause a duplicate Javascript include which break the output.
         3. Export your Muse site to the folder.
Here's a movie showing Edge and Muse together:

Adding a script after the closure of previous script is the way to go i.e. right after the </script> tag.
So it should look something like below:
    <script>
    Google's script
    </script>
    <script>
    Bing's script
    </script>
Cannot comment on one interfering with the other since it really depends on what exact code is there in the scripts. Google and Bing help resources will be able to help more with this.
    Thanks,

  • Is there an easy way for a client to update a small part of a muse site?

I am a Creative Cloud subscriber.
I've made several small websites in Muse and enjoy using it, more so than Dreamweaver, as I'm not a web expert. I've exported those sites as HTML and published them via my own domain and hosting.
I've been commissioned to make a website where the client can update a small "latest news" section on the site without my intervention.
Is there any easy way to do this, short of my client buying a Muse subscription?
    Cheers
