Music adjustment

I'm using the new Slideshows feature in iPhoto 09. In iTunes I set my song to start at a particular spot, say 30 seconds into the song. Yet in iPhoto it is starting that song at the beginning. How can I make iPhoto to start the song in the place iTunes does?

Ronniebel
You can't. Those settings are only respected inside iTunes.
If you require that kind of precision cutting, you might be best using another app for the slideshow. iMovie, PhotoToMovie or Final Cut Express will allow that kind of precision.

  • Slideshow Background Music Adjusting Slide Where Music Starts?

I've been trying to make a slideshow with music attached and can't find a solution to this problem anywhere. The problem is as follows. I have imported all my pictures and I've imported 5 music tracks, everything okay so far. However, I want to start the music tracks from slide 6, I want the first few to be silent. So, I pin the start of the first music track to slide 6. The problem is part of the second music track now automatically places itself over slides 1 to 5 and whatever I do I can't stop it doing this! All I want is for the 5 tracks to play in sequence but starting on slide 6. I hope someone can help me, it must be an easy solution, but I can't find it. Thanks, David.

Wouldn't it make sense that if you have a number of tracks and drag the start of the first one, that all tracks would move back accordingly and stay in order? Why would you want the gap filled automatically by one of the later tracks, I don't get it? Is there perhaps an automatic setting that causes this strange behavior and that I can switch off?

  • Music issue

I have a video that I have produced, everything works great! Except the music I added to the menus. The Main menu won't play the music... but the scene menu will. I have deleted the scene music, tried other music, adjusted the volume, made sure the length was appropriate. I can't figure out why the music won't play. I am using music I purchased from Digital Juice that I have all the rights in the world to use. =P
    Any suggestions??
    THANKS!

What I suggest is that you first burn this music to a CD/ aiff and then use the CD to import from.

  • Slideshow: Music doesn't stay "off" even w/box unchecked

iPhoto 11. Made a new slideshow. Don't want music. Went into the Music adjustment panel, unchecked the Play music during slideshow AND clicked the "choose" button. Next time I played the whole slideshow, no music...great!. NEXT time I played it, aughhh, music is back...even though I made no changes in the Music panel. Purposely checked  the box to "on", then turned it off again. Music gone during playback. Exported the file to Desktop, played the exported file, aughhh, music is playing throughout. What the...?

    Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
    User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • IPod Buttons not working - Solved

I have a 60G iPod that wasn't working and I resolved it. I don't know what generation iPod I have but I bought it in 2005. Anyways I was recently having issues where the buttons just weren't responding no matter what I did, it was just unusable. I couldn't play music adjust the volume or even reset it. I solved my problem by plugging it in to charge, toggled the lock button and then the buttons worked. I reset it (menu center for about 10 secs.) I was on this forum looking for an answer and couldn't find one. I just hope this helps someone else.
    Thanks,

  • MP3s Won't Load into iTunes

The other day I bought some mp3s from Amazon (with no DRM). The Amazon download application loaded them straight into iTunes just fine. But I noticed that the application stored the files in a place I didn't like (I like to organize my music myself). So, I removed the songs from iTunes, moved the files to a proper location, adjusted the volume of the songs (so they match the rest of my music), adjusted the artist name in the tags, and then tried to re-load the songs into iTunes. No luck. Now, I can't get iTunes to recognize and load the songs. They are standard mp3 files that I can play with any other application. But iTunes won't load them, not a folder at a time, not one by one, not using "import." Nothing works. Any ideas? I really want to enjoy this new album that I bought.
I tried upgrading to the latest version of iTunes. It didn't help.
    Thanks

I have a very similar, if not, the same problem. I got my music from other sources, but they were all standard unprotected mp3s with nothing special at all about them. I load them into iTunes fine, and they play fine. But sometimes iTunes will randomly just not play a song. The album art is lost for the song, and I cannot modify it because in "Get Info" the tab for album artwork just isn't there. Most of the time single songs are not affected, it's usually a whole album that will just stop being playable to iTunes.
The songs also disappear off of my iPod, and if I remove them from my iTunes library (but keep the files) and then add them back, well, they simply do not add back. It's as if iTunes didn't even recognize the files as music files. If I keep the songs in my library and try "Convert Selection to MP3," iTunes gives me a useless "Unknown Error -50"
This happens incredibly rarely, but it has happened to me at least four times in the past year, and the problem has never been fixed. I am convinced that this is just a random failure of iTunes and cannot find any possible explanation for it. It's extremely frustrating because there seems to be any cause at all for this problem to occur.

  • Can I join two projects?

    Hi all...
Say I have a project (A).  And a second project (B).  A third project (C).  Each with their own music photos, etc.
Is there a way to create a new project and import A, B, C.
So the movie that is rendered will be A, B, and C playing smoothly as one giant movie.... so there is a semeless transition of A to B to C.
The reason for asking is I want to create a large movie.... but I want to put together in sections (individual projects) ... then join the sections together (one new large project).
    Thanks.

No sir, I do not have FCPX.  And it doesn't support my graphics card. I think I missed it by only one "level". I would have to buy a new iMac. And add to that an optical drive!!! Oh, and then there're my USB 2.0/FireWire drives. I guess the USB would work, but it wouldn't run at USB 3.0 speed.
I think I'll make due with iMovie 9.0.4 for now. I can manage, but of course I welcome any tips to make things easier! I'd like to get iMovie 9.0.8, or whatever the latest is -- IF it would have some useful-to-me bug fixes and not break anything I currently have. I don't want to do a semi-non-reversable upgrade from 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion just to find out that iMovie 9.0.8 breaks something! Is it really asking to much for Apple to provide a comprehensive list of bug fixes, like DEC, Compaq, and now hp do with their VMS operation system? (I assume hp still does. I haven't upgraded a VMS system in years, so I'd have to check.)
Fortunately, at least for current projects, I have very few titles and transitions. Hmmm, I just remembered. My movie "Silent Quake" has transtions, and I didn't have any trouble copying them. You know what? I might have done my experiment copying from a 24 fps to a 30 fps project. Yes, that must be it. It seems that nothing comes over right when you do that. . . . OK, transitions are okay when not changing the frame rate.
As far as converting to a different frame rate goes, I'm doing it. Here's what it takes (approx. 14 minutes, 45 video clips plus titles and one transition):
Plan to make 30 fps VFT
    Document 24 fps version
        For each clip
Take screenshot of the first frame
Take screenshot of the last frame
            Get speed
            Get duration
Take notes about what got cropped
Write down color correction parameters (Or I could copy and paste, but that involves the old back-and-forth bit. Hey, can't write down the color correction params in FCPX, right?! Yes, FCPX color correction has more capabilities than iMovie's.)
    Build the 30 fps version
        Create a 30 fps project
Copy single clip of the raw footage to the project
Split the footage at each clip's first frame.
Make cuts so that the last frame of each clip is correct.
        Copy music over
        Sync with music
        Adjust the speeds
        Adjust the durations
        Apply cropping
        Apply color correction
So far I've done the following:
    VFT D-3 16  24 fps version
VFT E 0     30 fps version (copied the single big clip from the Event Browser to a new blank project.)
VFT E 1        first-frame cuts applied except very first
    VFT E 2        last-frame cuts applied
Well, I still have to document the 24 fps version from Get Speed and forward.
As far as titles go, my current set of movies all have original titles shot in Super 8. Only my "Visuals for Timesteps" movie doesn't. I presently have 5 titles for that, so it's not real bad. And I still have to go back and forth between the projects once in a while.

  • IOS 7.1 Random Reboots

So, according to all the reports, iOS 7.1 is meant to fix the white/black screen reboots. Well, HUGE fail. Ever since I upgraded from iOS 6 to iOS 7, I''ve had reboots, including during a couple of phone calls.
Now, with iOS 7.1, they continue. It would happen far too frequently and with very few identifiable common traits to each one. Even my iPad 2 has crashed a few times under 7.1.
I could be on the task screen to close an app and it would crash, or it would stall for 30 seconds, then crash, or I'd open an app and it'd crash. Or it'd just crash when I flipped between home screens. Since I upgraded to iOS 7.1, it has done it about 30 or 40 times.
So, some places on the internet suggested a wipe, iOS reinstall then restore. So, I've been doing that. It rebooted 5 times during the iOS install, then started restoring the images, apps, etc. and rebooted every minute for about 30 minutes, installing 1 or 2 apps at a time, then crash, reboot, another couple of apps, crash, reboot, etc. etc.
I'm still restoring and it's been stable for 20 minutes so far, but I'm not holding my breath.
DEAR APPLE...FIX THIS! PROPERLY! You have effectively made my iPhone 4S unusable 'cos I can't trust it not to reboot when I need it... I was going to upgrade to a 5S and give my 4S to my mother (she currently has my old 3GS) but how can I when it's so unreliably trash.
COME ON, PLEASE FOR THE SAKE OF SANITY, FIX IT PROPERLY.

So - the old saying "an Apple a day keeps the doctor away" is now defunct
I never had reboot problems with pre IOS 7.1 releases.
Now?  My Ipad Mini (1st Gen) is completely ruined.  Reboots 100 times day
Here is what i attempted before i go to the Genius Bar next week (to be told "sorry you are out of guarantee = hardware problem = bibi") :-
    Restore from new
    Recover from new
Restore from an old backup (1 year old)
Do all the above within Itunes
Do it all outside of itunes and only on the Ipad itself
No success = Reboots occur as follows:-  ANY TIME OF THE DAY OR IN ANY OPERATION YOU CAN THINK OF - AND I MEAN ANY - Safari, Calendar, Moving apps, Deleting apps, looking at a photo, listening to music, adjusting settings.
Reboots occur even straight after a recovery and just into the initial setup phase = "get started" - bang - reboot...
I was even rebooted typing this comment - so now i am on the laptop
Bye Bye Apple - i am selling all your stuff on the web to the first victim i can find.  I am sure he will have fun going to and from your Stores.
Hello Samsung Galaxy Note 2014 edition.
Sick and tired of being taken for a very costly ride...  Shame on them!
I adored my ipad mini.  I blame hurried programmers who are not bullet-proofing their adjustments within a 100,000 strong circle of testers, BEFORE RELEASE.  T'aint rocket science.
I have one suggestion:-  Why on earth are all these apps that we used STAYING IN MEMORY after a power down power up?  What for?  Double click on the home button straight after a power up and you will see what i mean.  When on earth did you ever see a pc do that (except from startup processes that we can control!) ?
weird stuff - i used to like Apple as a company for their everything works straight out of the box ethic. But now?  hmmmmmmm
PS = All the above happened to my iPhone4 which is now bricked after IOS 7.1 - i threw it in the bin.

  • MAC Mini and SPDIF Optical Out

I am new to the MAC after 30 years on a PC, so there is a bit on humility involved here! LOL!
I am trying to configure the the sound for SPDIF audio optical out. I see no settings in the Sound Preferences? I only have speakers and HDMI.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

There are two places you need to visit:
    1. System Preferences > Sound
Pick "Built-in Audio" for audio out. This corresponds to the optical toslink output. It is the same option as "internal speakers" if your toslink is not plugged in.
    2. Open /Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup.app and in it configure the build-in audio for the bit depth and sampling frequencies you require. If you are listending to CDs and iTunes music, 16-bit, 44.1 kHz is what you need. If you have higher-resolution music, adjust accordingly.
You can circumvent step 1 by hoding down the option key while clicking the little speaker sound icon in the menu bar (assuming you have it in the menu bar).

  • 8330 - Problem Connecting USB and HeadSet

When I first got my phone I noticed that the USB cable would disconnect if the phone was moved slightly making it very difficult to confirm it was charging.  Also had a similar problem with the headset that came with the phone.  Called Bell, they sent me a new phone.
Now, charging doesn't seem to be a problem but when connected with the computer, it still disconnects if it is moved slightly.  Like the connection is loose or something!?
The headset that came with the phone still doesn't work, connects... but then disconnects even though the physical connection seems secure.
Oddly enough, a regular headset works just fine.
Anybody else have these types of connection problems?  I'm going to call Bell, but it's been a few months now so I'm not sure if they will do anything for me... UGH!

I have some good news. iPhone 3.1 has been released to developers as a beta and it addresses (amongst other things) some bluetooth issues.
I'm happy to say that with this beta, I am able to use my Philips BT headsets as a stereo device to listen to music, adjust volume and to switch between music and a phone call.
The bad news is that I can't use the main button to activate voice control or the prev/next buttons to change songs. However, remember this is the first developer beta of 3.1 so this issues may get addressed before release.

  • IPod 4 lockscreen glitching up??

So I got a iPod 4 8gb, running ios5, for Christmas last year, and yesterday it's been acting up. Whenever I try to open the locked screen, nothing works. But I did discover that if I double click the home button, and the music adjuster comes up, I can push the play and next or previous buttons but they're in a random spot about an inch below where they should be. I think it's a glitch in the iPod. But if I leave it alone for 30 minutes or so it works again, I think the wait time is getting longer the longer the more I use it... so when it finally unlocks and works again, I use it then, then lock it again, and I have to wait again. Are there are tips on what I should do? I've force restarted it like 6 times and it doesn't ever change.  ???

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new Pod.

  • Apple Remote Instructions

I love my Apple Remote. It's intuitive...except I can't find one thing. I can start up Front Row, select and play some music, adjust the volume, even pause / put my mac to sleep (should the phone ring). However, how do I STOP my music?
Right now, I must go over to my over to my Mac and pull up iTunes to do that.
Any suggestions or direction? Are there instuctions somewhere that I'm missing?

To stop (pause) the music just hit the play/pause button. iTunes doesn't have a stop option, only pause. I can use the remote to start and pause music in iTunes even when not using Front Row.

  • After the Ios 6 update, I have lost my Sound for Music, Tweets. i have restored the phone, tried adjusting the settings, and even have Docked and undocked the Iphone 4S, thinking it might be in Dock mode. Headphones work, Dock plays Sounds. Ideas?

Lost Sound after Ios Upgrade to 6.0.1. All worked before upgrade. Has to be a problem with Software upgrade.
    Tried adjusting Settings. Same Problem
    Tried restoring Phone. Same Problem
Read some Forums. Tried suggestions such as buying an Song from ITUNES, Docking and undocking Device. Same Problem
    Ideas?
Sound will be heard  when Docked or through Headphones. Even Volume Bar doesn't appear either when playing music without Headphones or being docked.
Similar to others, this phone worked 100% prior to the Upgrade to Ios 6.0.1

Do you have the mute switch engaged? It's the little slider over the volume buttons on the side. If you can see orange, it's engaged. Slide it the other way.

  • MacBook Pro has no sound, no way to adjust volume, and will not play music.

My MacBook Pro seems to have lost all of its audio functions.  I cannot adjust my volume using the keyboard controls, or through the button at the top of my desktop screen, or even through System Preferences.  I get the normal volume adjust screen, but it is faded, and there is a symbol over it indicating that I cannot adjust anything.  When I go into the Sounds menu from System Preferences, there is nothing for me to select under Input or under Output.  My computer makes no noise, whether I'm using iTunes, watching a video, or anything.  I cannot play music.  My songs simply won't start, and when I skip to any given part of a song, the music still refuses to play.  I am not getting the red light from my headphone port.  I tried to remove any dust that may have collected in the headphone port, and I've even tried to reset my NVRAM and PRAM.  I also updated to OS X Mavericks 10.9.2.  Nothing helped.  I remember that my MacBook was working perfectly fine all of yesterday, but at one point later in the evening, I tried to plug in my headphones to play music, but nothing would play.  I opened Spotify, and it gave me a message that my speakers were broken (I was using the internal speakers).  That's when I first noticed the issue.  Is there anything else I can try before going to the Apple Store and having them try to fix it? Thank you very much, I appreciate any help.

The last gasp is an OSX reinstall.  If that fails, then the genius bar is the best option.
    Ciao.

  • The sound on my iPhone 4S isn't working. When headphones are plugged in you can listen to music an watch videos but when you take the headphones out the option to adjust volume goes away and you can't hear music or videos. Any idea how to fix this?

Today I tried listening to music on my iPhone 4S, only to find that my volume adjuster had disappeared. And just to clarify, when I say that it disappeared, I mean that when I press the volume buttons on my phone, I see the speaker icon but the gauge bar is gone. I can't hear music or watch videos
