Music Album Art and Blackberry Link Issues

I have been using blackberry for ages and have never had an issue with the media sync, it normally has worked properly. i had the z10 when it came out and syncing my music via blackberry link had worked well also, music album art showed up on my device. However, since getting my blackberry Q10 this has all changed.
1) I use a macbook pro
2) I have the most up to date version of bb link
3) I use a 16gb memory card
In the past two weeks since i have got the Q10, i have never once been able to get my music album art unto the the device, i have formatted the memory card over 10 times, i even went as far as doing a security wipe of the device itself. i have also gone into the file manager settings and and cleared the music folders, no joy!!
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS!!! I used to love my music on blackberry especially with my album art which showed on the Z10 so why isn't it showing on the q10. i don't have the z10 anymore to check.
Futhermore now when i try to sync music on the bb link some song are not even being transferred unto the device as if it just randomly selects the music it puts on the device.

Well, finally someone in the same boat as me. I use a Pc with windows 7. I previously had a Z10, switched to a Q10, with the same issues on both phones. Sometimes the artwork would show up, often adding a new song would corrupt all the artwork. I've even retagged all my mp3's, by wiping the metadata and reinserting the tags. No luck. I've formatted my phone, memory card, everything.
Ironically, the same memory card inserted into my old Bold 9900 and 9700 work fine, displaying all the artwork correctly.
I have spent hours, maybe even DAYS trying to fix this horrible problem. Someone help us!!!
I should add that now all of my albums are in individual folders, completely correctly named, with the latest ID3 tags. Even bypassing BlackBerry Link, and just using USB mass storage mode doesn't change things.

  • Music album art and movie chapter shot mixed up

    Hi I am new here.
I just noticed that the album art for my music and the shots in the movie chapter got mixed up. more details:
    1) for the music, the album art are correct in the album view of iPod, and the blown up image when the music is playing. However, when I clicked the back arrow to get back to the main iPod screen, the album art in the lower left hand corner under "Now Playing" is messed up. it could be a) cover from another album 2) a question mark 3) a random shot in one of my movies (Monster Inc. if this is helpful...)
    2) in movies, when i click on chapters, the chapter image for some movies which I bought from itunes are messed up. they could be some random shots from other videos (not movies) that i transfered myself. However, some movies (e.g. Monster Inc.) do not have this problem.
I didn't pay attention when this started to happen, but i am pretty sure at one point everything is alright... so... is there are way to fix this besides trying to delete everything and add again (I do not sync my library for music and movies, only pictures...)
any advise would be much appreciated... and oh... i have the most updated version of the firmware...
    thanks much in advance

I have the exact same issue, with videos that i own the electrionic version, including home videos.

  • Album art tagging vs linking?

    Hello helpful people
I am trying to find out if there is a way to determine which of my tracks have the album art linked to the file, as is the case for music bought directly from the Apple Store and where iTunes' "Get album artwork" functionality is used to download the album art.
Before I fully understood the mechanisms that control and manage album art, I was using a combination of two methods to add it; 1) iTunes' "Get album artwork" and 2) by scouring the web for decent cover art images (or correct ones where Apple's were wrong) and dragging them into the "Album art" box of the appropriate tracks in iTunes (and thus into the files' tags). This means that I now have a mixture of methods at work, and besides simply being irked by the inconsistency of it, if I were to ever divorce myself from iTunes I would lose all the cover art for those tracks and albums for which the art is merely linked, and not incorporated into the files themselves as a tag.
I would like to be able to identify all the tracks with linked album art, and so be able to select them all and tick the "Album art" box as blank, thereby deleting all the linked instances of album art. I appreciate that this leaves me with a lot of work to replace the now deleted art, but given the growing number of programs out there that will scour the web and automatically download album art I think it is not an insurmountable task.
Hmmm... Would simply deleting the iTunes/Album Artwork folder do the trick? The actual image files that are the tracks are linked to are stored in there, right? So if I deleted this folder I should essentially have deleted all the instances of linked artwork in my library... right?
Afterthought: This whole issue might also be moot if there is software that will download the album art and save it in the file tags, and will override the linked iTunes album art in cases where it exists. Does anyone know of any suitable program? I have my library rigged up to play on both my Mac and PC so it could be either a Windows or Mac program.
On a more discursive note, I'm surprised there isn't more on this issue out there. I did a fair bit of searching and came up with nothing, though I have to assume this has been discussed and I just missed the mark. It seems to me a pretty frightening prospect that if I had relied on iTunes for all my album art I would have to give it all up and start from scratch if I ever wanted to leave iTunes for something else. I don't think users are aware of how shackled they are by this aspect of iTunes, and it makes me wonder if this was implemented intentionally for that purpose, or if it was genuinely a matter of opitmizing iTunes' code and functionality.
    Thanks!

iTunes has nothing to do with it.
When MS developed the WAV format, they chose not to include tags for album artwork (or much else).

  • IPhone Music Album Art DB is strangely huge

I have an iPad and an iPhone. Both get music from the same source. Both take the tracks from my computer's library, downsize them to 128kps and there we are. However, the on-device Art Database sizes are very different and not in the way that makes sense. The size of the DB files was gathered using iPhone Explorer.
iPad has 4225 tracks. Art database is 2408MB
iPhone has 2334 tracks. Art database is 3104MB
A vast majority of the iPad library and the iPhone library overlap, so there is ZERO reason why the iPhone art DB takes up more space than the iPad's, unless something else is stored there that I dont understand. There are more FILES in the iPad DB, but they are overall smaller files. Each iPhone DB file is 200-500 MB. iPad DB files can be between 12-500MB
See the problem? Any thoughts? Any idea where I could direct this problem to, even? I just don't get it.

I used ScareZebra's solution (iFunBox for mac) and it worked great to FINALLY fix this issue.    My library artwork was totally messed up, using mostly video image stills and other photos for album art and no amount of deleting or resyncing was working.
It didn't seem to work right away, but after turning the phone OFF/ON* my artwork started refreshing and everything is perfect now.  I also added a step (directly deleting the artwork off of the phone, which I think may have been key to my particular situation)*.  Here were my steps.
1.) Installed ifunbox for mac on my computer and launched
2.) Plugged in iphone and navigated to RAW FILE SYSTEM/iTunes_Control/iTunes folder
3.) Copied the following 3 files to my desktop (for backup, just in case), then DELETED from the phone: MediaLibrary.sqlitedb, MediaLibrary.sqlitedb-shm, MediaLibrary.sqlitedb-wal
*4.) Copied the contents of the ARTWORK folder to my desktop for backup (just in case) then DELETED from the phone - Left the empty folder there
*5.) Turned iphone OFF and then ON
This worked and everything is back to normal.  I haven't noticed any issues.
Thanks for figuring this out ScareZebra!

  • ITunes Album art/possible meta data issue? Really need help

So ill try and break this down as simple as possible...
I moved all my music from my Windows PC to my brand new MacBook Pro. All the song info/album Art and everything matches just fine on my windows pc. However on my Mac when itunes downloads any artwork it puts in artwork from other albums and artists. When I click on the song up in the iTunes sidebar lists Artist/Songs from an entirely different album. I have tried fixing all Meta data and converted ID tags and matched everything perfectly to iTunes Store but it still things the artwork is for another artist and the sidebar diplays the same info. I have even cleared out my library and copied to an external and reimported but same issue. I dont want to sit here and fix every single artwork problem especially when the information to the album is literally word for word match in iTunes store.
My other fear is that if iTunes thinks some of my songs are completely different artists when iTunes Match rolls around my songs will not populate correctly?
Please any other ideas? Like I said the album meta data is 100% matched (Artist, Song, Genre, Year, tracks)

    clever point...

some album covers just aren't exactly square, particularly if the CDs are sold in cardboard flip-cases.
I deal with artwork in a more hap-hazzard way, but most of the time, i get SQUARE results...
Just Google the album title, then click the IMAGES tab. More times than not, I find the album cover in multiple sizes and about every time, at least one version that is truly square.
All i need to do then is click the image, then again at the top of the resulting Google page (to show just the image - out of it's surrounding page), then drag the image directly to the Album Artwork Placeholder in the GET INFO tab (that has already been opened on multiple items - the whole album).

  • IPhone4 Music album art swapping with other albums?

So my iPhone 4 has been going through some issues since the release of 4S:
Slow performance; freezing whilst receiving messages (both iMessage and standard txt); phone vibrates and makes the noise, then 30 seconds later lights up with the alert/notification on the screen.
But the strangest of all, is that randomly the music album art swaps with each other. What is clearly a male artist and his album art, randomly gets Kylie Minogues Album art? However, in iTunes, the album art is correct? I have repeatedly Sync'ed, however, don't want to "restore" the iPhone. But I feel I am fast approaching this as my final option.... :-(
    Any idea's?
This might be the conspirer in me - but issues like this occur whenever Apple bring out the newer version of the iPhone... a plot to make us upgrade out of frustration?
    Many thanks,
         BN0079

Hi, mine's having the same issue, but only of late. I have posted a similar question on here - but judging from your's being posted in August lol - maybe I won't have any luck.
My next stop is to delete all albums and music from my iPhone4 and then BackUp. I'll restore my phone to factory settings and start again.
If that fails to solve the issue, Apple will have to issue me a new phone over the Genuis Bar in-store. :-)

  • Is it possible for the next IOS 6 update for the music album art to display on the homescreen as a backround image when music is playing?

Is it possible for the next IOS 6 update for the music album art to display on the homescreen as a backround image when music is playing?

It does, under certain circumstances. If you are playing music and lock the phone or it locks on its own, when you wake it up, the album art will show. It also shows as the background if you are in the music app. If this is not exactly what you are looking for, you can submit feedback to Apple about this feature at www.apple.com/feedback.

  • Album art and long songtitle (zen v pl

The zen v plus will put the album art on the left side of the screen. This causes an issue when the songtitle is too long: the songtitle will now scroll. Can I change the way album art is shown? I would find it nice if the songtitle was above the album art, and the artis + albumname under it (this could solve the scrolling songtitle issue). Canthis be changed in de settings?

    Hi,
Yap... I'll pass this to them for their reconsideration.
    Thanks for the suggestion!

  • Trying to change album art and album info on ipod

i am trying to change the album art and album info on my ipod touch while it is plugged into itunes but while it shows in the itunes window that this information is gone, the ipod still has it and won't update ??
i have a nano that contains all my music with full description but would just like to transfer a handful of songs to my touch and don't want the albums listed and song titles because i just have a few songs from the artist like a compilation ?
    any help welcome..thanks

    JP:
Are you sure the artwork's gone? When you add artwork to a music track via iTunes, it is actually added via the ID3 tag, which are embedded in the song file. The only way that the artwork could be removed if if the tag was modified or you converted your music files to a format that does not support ID3 v.2.x tags.
When you Get Info for a single random song file, and click on the tab for artwork, is this pane empty?
Have you opened the show artwork box under the Source menu in iTunes? (click on the button with the rectangle below the Source menu).
Otherwise, I am at a loss as to how all of your artwork disappeared simply by moving it from one drive to another.

  • Album art and error 50

    hi there!
ok heres the deal. i have a brand new 30GB ipod video and i use windows XP (sp2) with itunes 6. Like many other people on here, my album work was showing up in itunes, but not on my ipod. i added the artwork via my ipod in the source list. i have unchecked the box that says wheather or not to display album art, then disconnected the ipod and reconnected it. i then rechecked the album art box in the preferences and it began to "optimize album art" and update. when it was supposed to be finished it gave me error 50...something like "the ipod [my ipods name] could not be updated because of an unknown error (-50)"
i have looked all over the apple site and all through discussions yet no answers have come my way. please help. thanks.

This worked for me too. My ipod is now displaying the album art again.
im FLABBERGASTED! i was fiddling with itunes and
    the
album art (i added the artwork to the library even
though it was already on the ipod) and nothing was
working. i got the same error. then...my cat was
walking around by my pc cords and accidently
unplugged it from the wall. everything went off.
    my
ipod went back to its main menu (from the do not
disconnect)i picked it up just to see how it was
acting and now all the album art is showing
    up....im
not telling all of you to improperly dc your
    ipods...im just plain flabbergasted....
hey... i was having the same problem, and i tried
that, and it worked for me too! thanks. just
disconnect your ipod without ejecting it on the pc.

  • Album Art and Vi

I used to be able to create my own album art and drag and drop it in Creative Media Explorer by since moving on to Vista this isn't possible. Anyone got a solution or point me to somewhere, perhaps within the forums, where I can find one.

Reconnect your iPod to your pc. Open itunes. In itunes->edit->preferences->ipod go to muisc. At the bottom select Show Album Art. Click Ok. Then go edit->preferences->ipod->photos. Make sure you have pointed the sync to a folder that has photos in it. Select ok.
In the left pane of iTunes right click ono the name of your Ipod and select UPDATE.
That should do it. Post back your results.

  • Cover flow into album art and how to control iTunes from another app.

Hi all 2 areas of concen, one is coverflow/ album art and the other is itunes controller:
I have searched but cannot find the answer to this:
    1) I have some songs with album info already, and I used iTunes to get the album art for coverflow etc. ... some songs from the same album did not have the album category filled in, I go back and fill it in: now how do I get iTunes to recognize the album art so it shows up for the newly corrected songs?
    2) In coverflow, iTunes picked the wrong album cover, can I manually fix it/pick the right one?
    3) will coverflow only show album art for those albums recognized by iTunes, or will it use album art that I get from other sources and add manually? And what will show up in my ipod?
    and lastly
4), is there anyway to control iTunes without switching apps (if I am working in Word or safari and want to skip a song, etc)...is there an overlay controller?
    TIA

Copy the entire folder from one drive to the other, change the path that iTunes is using to access the library.

  • Displaying album art and bio info

I know how to get thumbnail sized album art to appear in the bottom left-hand of iTunes. Is there a more souped-up way to get album art and band bio to appear?

To make the album art appear, hit the fourth button from the left in the bottom left corner. The one with the triangle on it. Of course, to see a albumcover, you'll first need to include them in a tracks ID3- tag.
As iTunes doesn't include the band bio in the ID3- tag, you won't be able to display it.

  • Music and Blackberry Link

Within Blackberry Link and when MY Computer is checked my itunes music no longer shows and an error message appears saying the the music library wasn't able to be loaded. This is with the latest version of Link and the prior version. It initially worked fine and much of my itunes are on the Z10. This problem arose a few months back with a new itunes version. Music settings is for Itunes. Any suggestions?
My music shows in Link when my Z10 is connected and checked as on on the left side of Link.

  • Nokia N95 8GB Album Art and Album Folders Issue

I have been hunting for for a resolution for two issues with the N95 8GB Media Player all over the web.
    1. Adding artwork (CD Covers) to audio tracks (or albums) seems to be at best hit and miss. Most of the time it just does not work.
    2. Deleting an album delete all the tracks but deleting the album folder seems almost impossible.
Well this weekend I decided to try to solve this and I think I may have hit upon a solution.
Since so may people have the same problem I thought it worth repeating. I would stress this has not been exhaustively tested but it does work reliably so far.
I am using Nokia Music Manager 2.0. The fix is simply to convert the files to AAC rather than to M4A (which is the default). After this simple change everythig worked find for me. I can add and delete albums from Nokia Music Manager 2.0 (don't forget to refresh on the phone afterwards) AND reliably add Album Artwork.
So here is how I have been working.
    1. Set the conversion format to AAC. I have been using 'Ultra high' quality setting. Options Menu >> Setting >> Conversion Tab.
    2. Next put in a CD, select all the tracks and choose copy to my collection.
    3. While this is going on I find the artwork on the Web. A simple Google Image search with the album title and artists last name / band name seems pretty 100% to get the on the first page. Download image to My Documents / My Pictures.
    4. Once the CD Rip is complete they will all appear in My Collection. I select all the tracks in my collection for the album in question, and then right click on one of them and select Edit.
    5. I then attach the Album Artwork by clicking on the blue folder and choosing it from my, MY Pictures folder.
    6. Finally select Copy to Phone from the File Menu.
This has worked for me so far 100% and I have done 20 or so albums.
    NOTES:
To get Nokia Music Manager 2.0 I uninstalled the version of Nokia Phone Suite that came with my phone and went to
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905I (or seach Google for "nokia phone suite"
I chose the N95 8GB downloaded and installed. At some point shortly after install Phone Suite informed me that there were updates available and Nokia Music Manager 2.0 was one of these.
I was originaly using this and suffered all the problems you guys have. After searching the web and finding no solution I decided to do some experimenting.
    Hope all this helps.
PS If you need to delete all your legacy album folders, this is the fix I found on this same site. You can do this at any time.
    1. Enable the option to be able to see Hidden Files and Folders in your Windows Explorer.
    2. Connect your n95 8gb to your computer and choose data transfer mode.
    3. Go to My COmputer >> Nokia Phone Browser >> Nokia N95 8GB >> Memory Card E:
    3. If you have selected Show Hidden Files and Folders (see 1) you should see a folder called Private.
    4. In the Private folder you need to delete the contednts of three folders
    \private\101FFC31 (mpxv1.mpd and pcv5.mpd)
    \private\101f8857\Cache
    \private\101ffca9
In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
Next time you restart the music player it will rebuild the indexes without the deleted albums folders.
Hope this helps someone. It restored my sanity.

    Album Art
    Basically there are two methods
    Method 1.
You do it on the phone. Load the album art pictures to the memory card. (Must be JPEG NOT BMP)
    Load also the music files.
Open Music application in the phone. Open an album then select Options->Album art then Options-> Add, browse for the picture and select Ok.
    Repeat for each ALBUM
    Method 2.
You do it on the PC.
Get a Tag editing software like Tag&Rename, WINAMP, etc.
Edit the files Metadata to include Album Art picutres (again they should be jpeg and also they should be set as Cover Front).
Transfer the files that have Album Art using File transfer (usb mass storage) don't use MTP or PC Suite as these methods may convert the files and Album Art will be lost.
Or you can continue using your Method
