Music app acting odd in iOS 8.x

I often listen to iTunes Radio using the Music app on my iPad mini. Once I'm done, I close out the app by swishing it off the screen you access by double-clicking the home button. Sometimes, when I unlock the Mini later, the radio "station" I was on starts playing. But the Music app isn't open. Sure, it can play in the background, but it shouldn't be playing at all when it's closed, correct?
I've seen that other people have had issues similar to this, but I don't think a solution has been discovered for any of the various scenarios (involving iBooks, voiceover, etc.). I was hoping the 8.1 update would fix it, but it doesn't seem to have done anything--at least with my situation.

Basic troubleshooting steps clearly outlined in the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as NEW.
If you've been through ALL these steps and you still have problems, then you'll need to bring your phone into Apple.

It would depend on your definition of "Fix"
Your iPod touch running OS 4.2 has a ZOOM feature which will enable you to see the screen more clearly.
To turn Zoom on or off got to:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.
    _To Zoom in or out_:
Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is magnified 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-and-drag gesture, described below), iPod touch automatically returns to that magnification when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.
Increase magnification: With three fingers, tap and drag toward the top of the screen (to increase magnification) or toward the bottom of the screen (to decrease magnification). The tap-and-drag gesture is similar to a double-tap, except you don’t lift your fingers on the second tap—instead, drag your fingers on the screen. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger.
    _Move around the screen_:
When zoomed in, drag or flick the screen with three fingers. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger so that you can see more of the screen. Hold a single finger near the edge of the display to pan to that side of the screen image. Move your finger closer to the edge to pan more quickly. When you open a new screen, Zoom always goes to the top-middle of the screen.
    _Large Text_:
Large Text lets you make the text larger in alerts, and in Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and Notes. You can choose 20-point, 24-point, 32-point, 40-point, 48-point, or 56-point text.
Set the text size: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility, tap Large Text, then tap the text size you want.
I hope this has helped a little - other than this option I think it pretty much is what it is.
BTW - This information can be found on page 208 of the iPod Touch iOS 4.2 Users Guide.
    Best wishes..

  • Problems with music app after upgrading to iOS 5

i'm very particular with the organization of my ipod stuff. it has to have album art and it has to be properly sorted out by artist and album. after upgrading to iOS 5 i found several problems with the music app:
    1. some artists dont show on the artist section. i've tried fixing the album artist info, sorting info etc and nothing.
    2. some albums duplicate themselves in the albums section and it only gets cured if you delete a certain song in the album. if you try putting the song back the albums duplicate again.
    3. some album art dont show. i've tried plugging in the album cover directly to the song/s in the ipod, and deleting the song and recopying the song from itunes and still nothing.
    anyone care to weigh in?
did i mess up the installation?

I just spent hours trying to solve same (I have a iPod Touch 4th Gen) and I am very picky about its organization too. What I can tell you:
1- The artists suddenly not showing in the artist section:  Double-check that their albums are not marked as "part of a compilation"... because I had 8 artists disappearing after the upgrade and all their albums were marked as "part of...". After removing that "compilation" tag, all 8 artists reappeared where they had been all along under the previous iOS, namely under the Artists category.
2- I had an album that did not want the artwork to show. And each time I was able to transfer it back with the art, it would duplicate tracks on the iPod Touch. I finally was able to solve it by deleting manually from the iPod the album (by slowing dragging my finger to the right on the album title and click on the delete button when it appeared) then by deleting it also from the iTunes library and syncing. Then I reloaded the album in iTunes and resynced on the iPod Touch and the album reappeared without duplicates and with the artwork.
3- Finally, one album was correct (track-wise) but no artwork. I double-checked everything and manually check the info for each track and 2 tracks had not artwork attached to it and a 3rd had 2 artworks. I manually attached the correct artwork to each track THEN to the whole album. Then I resynced and everything FINALLY worked fine.

  • Music app on iPad With iOS 5

I updated my iPad to iOS 5 and when I went to the music app I couldn't find the shuffle button so I was wondering if their is one and if their is where is it

When you start playing the first track you should then get a shuffle icon at the top of the screen - I haven't found a way to start shuffle mode without first starting a track playing.

  • Why won't the music app work after the IOS 7.1 update?

    Hello mbongi1,
Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the Music app on your iPhone.  You have taken some really good troubleshooting steps already to isolate and troubleshoot the issue.  I have a couple of additional suggestions you can try.
First, I recommend resetting your iPhone:
    Reset
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If the issue persists after resetting your iPhone, I recommed backing up and restoring your iPhone:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,

  • Music app bug with iPad iOS 7.0.3

    Hi,
My Music app was working fine until ios 7.0.3. Now, when I hit play, it goes from song to another really fast without actually playing them...
Is that happening to anyone else?
    Thanks!
    Chris.

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

  • No sound from the 'Music' app after upgrading to iOS 5

After upgrading to iOS 5 I went to play music in the new 'Music' App. However, no sound came from the iphone (3gS) athough the songs continued to play. Has anyone encountered this issue and how have you resolved it. I thank you for responding to my question.

    Hi Guys,
I have post eariler on another forum and I have the same problem, I have tried all the things listed here and nothing was perminant in fixing this painful iphone hating problem.... and failed.  You probably have the problem when you use youtube or your music external speaker that there is no volume bar and no sound.   I have had the same problem But I need to happily say that I now have the fix!!!!  This worked for me and I fixed it by myself so you don't need to go to apple or service centre or anything.
Ok I like so many of you here truly believed this was as IO5 issue as it only dropped the sound on the speakers once that IO5 update came along.  I tried a bunch of reset, reboots, home clicks, lock and unlocks, to fix this and all failed.  some worked for an hour but then failed.  hours of my life that I will never get back.   but since I have learnt this is not a IO5 problem but a hardware issue! ...  and in paticualar is has to do with your bottom connection.  Your phone is thinking it is docked all the time.
To fix the no sound problem what you need is...
    1.  a torch
    2.  a tooth brush
    3.  methalated spirits
    4. a butter knife
    Step 1.
get your torch and shine it down the bottom connection plate to see what kind of dust, sand, hair or anything you have stuck in there.   all that need to be removed!  everything!  it might look clean but still thats ok go to step 2.
    step 2.
Turn on your music app and put the speakers on!  If your phone is like mine it should not work.  you most probably don't even have the volume display to turn it on but its ok, just do it! and it should still play with no sound.   its important you try and run the speakers as this will show you that it is a hardware problem.
    step 3.
Dip your tooth brush into some methated sprits.   then at your sink tap the exess metho out of your brush as you just want the brushes to be slightly damp, not soaking wet and then scrub the bottom connetiors on your iphone.  work the brush back and forward in a way that scoops the dirt out of the phone, not just pushing it side to side.
(As you bushing you should notice the volume bar come back on or off as you scub.   This happened to me and that is how I realised I was on the right track to fixing this problem as I was doing something external that was actually controling when the volume display came on or off.   but once I cleaned it this still didn't fix the problem...)
    Step 4.
Use the back side of a butter knife (not the sharp side) to gently slide over the connectors on the iphone.  Do this gently as you are only pushing down on the tiny metal contect bars and you should notice the volume display come on again.  slide it back and forward.  Now the area of interest is about 2/3 along the connection plate to the right.   This is the area that has the infomation sent when your iphone thinks its docked.
This has worked for me and I have not had a problem since I did this 2 weeks ago.   I have since learnt that the new IOS 5 has activated a different part of the bottom conectors.  if you have been using dodgy connectors or unapproved apple cables (as I was)  any damage or hair and dirt on the terminal this is effecting it.  Try it.   just remember if you can do something external to your phone then there lies the problem.
Hope this works for your phone as it did for mine.
    Cheers

  • Apple Music App not playing audio iOS 5

I updgraded my iPhone to iOS 5.0.1 and now my Music App isn't playing any of my songs. I can open the App and navigate fine, but when I press play it doesn't. I tried force quitting the app and even restarted the iPhone, but that still did not fix the issue.
Is anyone else experiencing the same thing?

My music is now playing agian, but the issue still exists let me explain.
I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to iPhone 4S.
I then restored my iPhone 4S with an iPhone 4 backup.I did this to get all my previous data etc..
The music from that backup did not "play"
I then synced new music to my iPhone 4S after reading "Radar103" comment.
Even though I synced new music it did not remove previous songs already on my iPhone.
All new songs play just fine except for music from original backup.
Here's the kicker. When I view my iPhone 4S music using iTunes I DO NOT see the songs from original backup. This is weird because when I navigate on my iPhone I can still select them.
I really don't want to restore my iPhone to start from scratch. Any suggestions?
My next step will be to call AppleCare.

  • What's the problem with the music App on iPhone 3GS iOS 6.1.3

Sometimes the in the music app the volum doesn't show up, or sometimes I can't see

    Hello Kunmon,
The following article provides some useful troubleshooting that can help get your iPhone's camera working correctly.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Music App on iPhone 5 (iOS 7.1.1) asking for iTunes verification???

Recently (as in the past 2 or so days), when I am in the Music app and selecting a song to play, the little window to type in your iTunes password pops up and asks me to type in my iTunes password. I have already tried many things to remedy the situation. I've pressed cancel, and it goes away, but comes back randomly after a few minutes. I've put my password in [and yes, I put in the correct password] and the same thing happened. I've signed out and signed back in, through both the Settings app AND through iTunes and the App Store on my device. I've turned it off and back on. I've plugged it in and synced it. I backed it up and did a full restore to that back up. No luck. The only thing that *seems* to work is just signing out and staying signed out. This is somewhat annoying, because now every time I want to buy a song, or update an App, I'll have to sign in, download it, and then sign out.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this, without losing all of my data? Does anyone know what's causing this?
Please note: I don't use iTunes Match or iCloud, so it couldn't be those things.

I should also add: There's no pending downloads in the iTunes store on my device or App store. There are some pending downloads linked to my account, but they have been there for quite a while and have never been a problem before. Additionally, if these apps WERE the issue, I figure they would've begun to download on my device after I succesfully typed my password in.

  • Music level in Music app under iPhone 3GS iOS 5.0.1

    Hi,
The music level displayed in Music app is not the actual music level. When I hit PLAY, the sound is at max (I have my earbud on and this hurts).
I suspect this happens because I have previously connect my iPhone with my music station (where I have incresed the music level).
When I "relaunch" then app after I unplug my iPhone with my music station, I suspect the app is taking too long to "refresh" the displayed music level.
Am I the only one having this issue ?

Try a reset of your phone.   Hold down the home/power button for 10 to 15 seconds or until you see the apple logo and then release.   Then wait until your phone boots back up and hopefully that speeds up your phone a bit.

  • IPad Music App in Landscape Mode ios 7

Why is there no cover wall in the music app on the iPad when I turn it to landscape like on the iPhone??
The page looks the same, so now I can only see a few albums at a time instead of the old music app which looks like iTunes.
I can't even view the "wall" of album covers like on iPhone and iPod.

This non-feature alone makes using the iPad to play music an experience completely devoid of pleasure. Seriously. I just don't use iPad to listen to music anymore.
I still have a 3GS iPhone so use that! Along with my MacBook, of course...
Anyway, have complained to Apple on their feedback page several times in the vain hope they may do something about it. I have an iPad with retina screen and really want to see ALL the albums set out in the grid view like iTunes on the Mac. Really, can't understand why this feature has disappeared.
If you read these forums Apple, please take note of the gnashing of teeth going on with regard to the music app in iOS7.
Oh, and please let us have the ability to delete artists, albums... not just single tracks.
    Thanks.

  • Music App: After updating to ios 5 I can't flip through  the album covers any more. Option does not appear when I hold my iphone in the specific angle.

..... is that a software problem due to ios 5? What can I do to fix that?
    Thanks
    Waymore

I am back with an update. I turned off Match on both the ipad and the iphone 5. By doing so I was able to sync my Iphone and ipad to itunes and store the music on my devices rather than the slow streaming.  So far this has fixed my problems with the iphone I have all my music, playlist, most of the album art and so on.  But the ipad is a different story.  I have the music and artist but not one playlist  I am sure Apple will have an upgrade soon that will address these issues they are usually very good about this.
Now have any of you experienced another problem that has existed as long as I have used faces in Aperture.
I have over 200 faces and they are organized a-z problem is I have this going on A-Z folowed by a few that start over A-Z followed by another few A-Z and again a 4th time A-Z.  Imagine how difficult it is while I am showing someone the great features of my iphone, ipad and imac.  Which I do talk highly of all the time.  But how do I explain that even though their name starts with a or b or what ever they are not important enough to me to be in the first list of A-Z or even the 2nd or 3rd list of A-Z someohow they are in the 4th section of the list!!!!
I have managed to get the Imac to fix this but for some reason the IOS devices do not.   Any ideas?
    Thanks Al
