Music app always on?

when iphone 4s is opened music app is on will not shut off.

What do you mean by "the music app will not shut off"?
If you double click the home button and then press and hold on the Music App at the bottom of the screen, a little minus icon appears. Click that and it will close the Music App.

How do I keep music app always on top in ipad

You can double-click the home button to open the taskbar, slide that to the right, and you should see some music controls - you just can't have it open on screen on top of other apps.

  • IPad Air music app always defaults to Genius Mixes

Apologies if this has been discussed and solved in a previous discussion but I can't trace it.
I have an iPad Air and when I select the "Music" app it the always defaults to Genius Mixes which have somehow been created by Apple albeit from my own music. I then have to tap on one of the other tabs like Artists or Albums to proceed. Even I left my iPad on Artists, next time I switch on and go to "Music" once again it defaults to Genius Mixes. How do I stop this happening please? It's not a great iss
BTW, I don't have iTunes Match and Genius is switched off in iTunes on my PC.

Wow thanks James I didn't realise it was possible to edit and therefore rearrange the icons at the bottom. Because Genius was at position #1 I suppose it always defaulted to that (perhaps!). Anyway I've moved it well along the line of icons and now when I select Music it starts at position #1 which is now Albums.
    Thanks so much.
Well, I had not thought about the icon position controlling the default. Albums is in my #1 position and it is pretty much the only view I use on a regular basis.
Glad you got it sorted out.

  • Ipad music app always starts with genius mixes

I am usind an iPad mini 16GB with iOS8 running the newest version. Every time I start the music app it fires up with the genius mix overview and not my last selection, e.g. artists listing. I subscribed to iTunes match with genius enabled.
I clearly recall iOS7 not acting like this. So my question is: Is this a bug or a feature or am I missing something.
    THanks in advance, Sascha

    Hi Caph1,
If you are having issues with your iPad's Music application always launching to the genius mix screen, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS - Apple Support
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPhone -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPhone as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups

  • Music app always opens on iPhone 4/4s

My husband only uses his iPhone 4 (or 4s--not sure which he has) for the phone and the email.  Yet every time that he opens his phone, it opens with the music app, or sometimes the map app or the calendar app--three things he doesn't use his phone for.  So every time he has to close out of that to open his email or phone.  I definitely see how that would be annoying.  I've gone through the settings and didn't see anything that would address this.  How can I help him?  Thank you!

Yea I don't know. I mean I don't really think the iPod is declining (that was bad phrasing on my part) although that is what some have speculated. Everything just seems to be moving more toward iOS with the newer iPods, that eventually they may disappear. But anyway, this is too off topic. Let's just try and help the OP.

  • Music app always shows playlist tab.

    iPad mini 3, latest iOS.
Every time I open Music app, it shows the last tab I used previous time for a moment, then automatically switches to playlist tab. Is that a bug or some feature? I don'have any playlists yet, so I don't need this tab for now.
    Thanks in advance!

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great troubleshooting recommendations for initial troubleshooting of your issue:
    iOS: Understanding multitasking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4211
When performing Step 2, I would recommend closing all open apps. If restarting doesn't help with Step 3, try the recommended resetting as well:
If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
    Check for app updates.
    Force the app to close.
    Restart your device.
    Update your iOS device.

  • The music app always shows up!

when i click the watch app and then turn off my ipod nano 6 gen and turn it back on, it shows up to music....how do i make it so when i turn it on, it shows the watch app?

Disable shake to shuffle from settings. Also, quit music player by playing last song in the playlist and hit next(Make sure shuffle and repeat are off).
    Hope this helps!

  • Music app shuffles always

    iPhone 4S, iOS 6.
The Music app seems to be stuck in shuffle mode. The Shuffle icon is not highlighted, but I can't toggle it either. It just always plays in shuffle mode. I've tried playing an album in its song order and I've tried playing a playlist in its order. It always shuffles.
Anyone else experiencing this or have a solution?

Never mind, I got it. For some reason, tapping the screen was taking a really long time popping up the additional controls, so I never got to them. Sometimes these gratuitous UI changes are annoying.

I would restore the iPhone and put a previous back up that you had without his information on it. The steps for restoring and putting a back up back on are outline in the article below.

  • IOS8.1 Music App won't play "Skip When Shuffling" songs at all

iTunes has two options for skipping a song during shuffle:  the first column with the tick box (let's call this the "Play Column"), and the "Skip When Shuffling" tick box in the Options tab of the song info.
For songs in iTunes where the Play Column is unticked but Skip When Shuffling box is also unticked, this works as it should when synced to the iPhone:  ie the song doesn't come up in shuffle, but it can still be selected & played directly on Music app.
But when the Skip When Shuffling box is ticked (regardless of whether the Play Column is ticked or not), the song can't even be selected & played directly on the Music app.  When selected, it just picks another random song from my playlist to start shuffling from.
It's like the Skip When Shuffling option overrides the Play Column (no idea why iTunes should have two different options to do the same thing anyway), but has also now stopped the App from playing the song at all.  I've tested this by unticking the Skip When Shuffling box in iTunes & re-syncing to the iPhone, and the Music app now plays the songs when selected directly.
My iPhone 4S using iOS8 always played these songs with no problem, so this is a new issue/bug/feature with either iO8.1 or the app in the iPhone 6 itself.

What kind of Music App are you using?
Maybe some Apps they have bugs when using iOS7.
I'm using MVDIO and zingmp3, it's still okay here.

  • Every single song I delete from iCloud on my Mac remains listed in the Music app on my iPhone 4S, and then becomes broken -- What the heck?

    Hello,
So this is annoying me to no end because I just spent $25 to sign up for iTunes Match and so far its wasted my time and given me nothing but a massive headache. This is obviously a major bug on the SERVICE END, not mine.
Starting with an empty iTunes library on my Mac, I began ripping my CDs in iTunes Plus AAC format the other night with the intent of matching & uploading my entire music library into iCloud for streaming & downloading to my iPhone 4S on the go. Simple in theory, right? After some basic tag editing -- changing genres, a simple alteration to a title here, deleting the composer there -- and then updating iTunes Match (Store > Update iTunes Match), I notice I'm getting duplicates of a bunch of my songs appearing on my iPhone. I haven't downloaded anything to the device, they're all just listed with the cloud icon next to them.
So I'm thinking, whatever, I screwed something up. I'm only several CDs into the process so I'll just delete the iTunes library and start over again. Shift + right click, delete everything. Do you want to delete these songs from iCloud as well? Yes. Update iTunes Match. There are 0 songs in iCloud. Okay.
The songs are still showing in my iPhone Music app. Strange. Swipe to delete does nothing, they're not on the device. They're pointing to files in the cloud that are either no longer there or somewhere that I cannot access anymore. Broken aliases. The album artwork still shows up, but playing the songs just kicks me back to the album menu. Navigating to Settings > General > Usage > Music shows me there is no data on the device. 0 bytes.
One thing I notice is that sometimes after syncing a handful of these broken songs will show up in a "Purchased" playlist on my iPhone within the iTunes browser -- I haven't purchased any music from the iTunes store, not one song -- and inspecting them with right click > Get Info reveals them as Stream files, not iTunes Plus AAC files.
Turning iTunes Match off and on again both from within iTunes and on my iPhone does nothing.
Syncing wirelessly or via USB does nothing.
Backing up and restoring my iPhone does nothing.
Double clicking the Home button and quitting the Music process, then opening it again does nothing.
Hard resetting the iPhone does nothing.
This is something that's happening with my Apple ID on the service end, not locally or on the user end. As long as iTunes Match is turned on in my iPhone settings, all of this broken music -- everything I've matched to iCloud and deleted -- shows up. I've done everything within the parameters of proper usage, and iTunes tells me there is nothing in iCloud after it updates but my phone keeps seeing crap that isn't -- or shouldn't be -- there.
I WANT to use iTunes Match, I just paid 25 freaking dollars for it, but its completely busted for me right now and I know ripping and matching some more CDs is just going to make it worse and populate my iPhone with an even bigger broken library. I just ripped and matched one more CD an hour ago without editing any of the tags, just let iTunes Match do its thing, and then after right clicking and following the prompts to delete the 18 songs both from both iTunes AND iCloud its still showing up on my iPhone. Busted like all the others.
Can we please get an update on this as soon as possible? This is driving me nuts and I don't know what else to do.

    It's a slightly convoluted process.
Disable iTunes Match on your iPhone
Settings > Music > Itunes Match
Now, make sure you've killed the Music app by double-tapping the home button, and deleting the app there where it is running.  Important step. The app should not be active.
    Next step:
Settings > General > Usage (it takes a while to load) > then delete the Music app there
Power your phone down, and back up again.
Sync your music via iTunes like you always have ...
... and this should fix your problem.

  • Is there a way to change the font size in the music app?

Itouch 2nd gen user. just updated to 4.2 from 3.1.3, and boy does it suck. the font in the music app is so small now, i can barely see the song names and they take more care to hit, thus making it dangerous in the car. is there a way to fix what apple has broken by maybe increasing the size of the font, and thus the icons as well? my couisn has an iPhone 4 and said it was possible, but he couldnt find it in my options. is it there or not present for the 2nd gen? this needs to be fixed fast. Apple needs to figure out that it's a good thing to let users customize their device and interface, especially with Android kicking them hard.

    falkner09 wrote:
is there really no fix for this?
It would depend on your definition of "Fix"
Your iPod touch running OS 4.2 has a ZOOM feature which will enable you to see the screen more clearly.
To turn Zoom on or off got to:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.
    _To Zoom in or out_:
Double-tap the screen with three fingers. By default, the screen is magnified 200 percent. If you manually change the magnification (by using the tap-and-drag gesture, described below), iPod touch automatically returns to that magnification when you zoom in by double-tapping with three fingers.
Increase magnification: With three fingers, tap and drag toward the top of the screen (to increase magnification) or toward the bottom of the screen (to decrease magnification). The tap-and-drag gesture is similar to a double-tap, except you don’t lift your fingers on the second tap—instead, drag your fingers on the screen. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger.
    _Move around the screen_:
When zoomed in, drag or flick the screen with three fingers. Once you start dragging, you can drag with a single finger so that you can see more of the screen. Hold a single finger near the edge of the display to pan to that side of the screen image. Move your finger closer to the edge to pan more quickly. When you open a new screen, Zoom always goes to the top-middle of the screen.
    _Large Text_:
Large Text lets you make the text larger in alerts, and in Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and Notes. You can choose 20-point, 24-point, 32-point, 40-point, 48-point, or 56-point text.
Set the text size: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility, tap Large Text, then tap the text size you want.
I hope this has helped a little - other than this option I think it pretty much is what it is.
BTW - This information can be found on page 208 of the iPod Touch iOS 4.2 Users Guide.
    Best wishes..
    Ricky

    Hello Opewan,
Thank you for contacting Apple Support Communities. The support article
    Syncing music to iPod shuffle
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1719
Is the correct place for your question. Selecting what music you want to sync and then checking the box "Replace allitems when autofilling"
should do what you are wanting. If that doesn't do exactly what you want, you can always sync manually.
If you prefer not to use Autofill to sync music to your iPod shuffle, you can manually sync music instead.
Connect iPod shuffle to your computer and open iTunes.
Select the option to "Manually manage music" from the iPod Summary tab of the iPod settings screen.
Select your Music, Podcasts, or Audiobooks Library or a playlist on the left side of the iTunes window.
Select one or more pieces of audio content and drag them to the iPod shuffle icon under Devices.
If you have turned on disk use, disconnect iPod shuffle by selecting it under Devices and clicking the eject icon (iPod shuffle is ready to be disconnected when the status light stops flashing).
    Regards,
    Jeff D.

  • The Music app on my ipod touch will not open?

The Music app on my ipod touch will not open, it loads but the sceen is always blank and then closes the music app and goes back to my list of apps.. what do i do? any ideas?

I have the same problem since a couple days ago, I will try to refrain from swearing or slagging on Apple, got a few questions for you, Gerbrandt, or anyone else who's had this problem and worked around it by means of a 3rd party app:
1-Since using panamp have you used your ipod in any docks successfully? (ex: I have a JVC car deck, a Klipsch dock and the Yamaha dock for my home theatre, all will be worthless if I can't resurrect my iPod as a music player)
2-Has using panamp done anything to help the original Apple music app to work or has it stayed dead?
3-Do you have any smart playlists?  Like others with the 64GB model I have many many songs (that's the WHOLE point of the large capacity iPod, isn't it?) and I found that the more smart playlists I had the worse the apple music app behaved back when it was still working.
I'll check out panamp tonight, hopefully that will stop me from curb-stomping my iPod.
Anyone know whether an Apple "genius" has access to any sort of debugging facilities that would make it worth visiting the store for help on this matter?  (ex: if they have root access to check for corrupt song database, or debug logs of some sort, or can do any direct manipulation of commands over the dock connector).
It sure would be nice to know why this happens, I have about 14,000 songs locked in iTunes now and many hours of time invested in ripping my CD collection but I don't want to buy a replacement iPod only to have this happen to it too.  It's annoying enough the 4 hours it takes to resynch after a system restore (which in the end did nothing to resolve the original issue).

  • Can't play newly copied music in iOS 8 Music app when "Repeat Album" is on

Apologies in advance for inability to accurately describe what's going on, so I took a video of the weird behavior as well:
YouTube video of iOS 8 / iTunes 12 music syncing issue
I am trying to sync my music on my iPhone 6 running iOS 8.1.2 with iTunes 12.0.1.26 via USB / Lightning. Note that the following behavior *only occurs when "Repeat Album" is ON*:
For certain albums (not all – can't find a pattern, but they are always the same albums), the album will appear on my iPhone, but when I go to play any track from the album, it appears that the track cannot be played so it tries to play the next track.
Since no tracks can be played and "Repeat Album" is on, it spirals into a loop without playing any songs until I hit the back button.
When I go back to the album overview view, it appears as if the Music app on my phone is trying to download all the tracks simultaneously.
When I force-quit out of the Music app and re-open it, the problem album no longer appears.
In order to solve the problem, it seems I have to make sure that I play each new album at least once with "Repeat Album" set to off. Otherwise, I have to re-sync with iTunes in order to get my music back on my iPhone. This seems to be occurring frequently enough (and is in general a bug) that I decided to post here.
Please let me know what additional information I can provide to help diagnose the issue.

UPDATE: This behavior (to an extent) still happens when "Repeat Album" is off. Instead of an infinite loop, it goes through all the tracks on the album (unsuccessfully) and kicks me out to the Album overview screen. Going back to list of Albums and tapping the Album again brings up "No Content: You can download music from the iTunes Store" but that screen immediately kicks me back to list of Albums.
So I am just even more confused now.
