Music app in OS 10.3.1
There are a lot of changes that I like in this new version of the music app, for example the equalizer is back, at long last, the volume display doesn't take half of the screen anymore, or the album view is in list form, so we can finally read the full names.
However, there's something that I don't understand : why bury this brand new "album view mode" under a "most viewed albums mode"? It's not the same use at all, it's like having to scroll through the history to reach the bookmarks in an internet navigator. This album history mode should be in another tab, or there should be an option to toggle it in the menu.
To make it worst, the neat alphabetical view isn't even that easy to reach on the Q10 because you have to be precise when trying to scroll down : if you put your finger in the top 2/3 of the screen, it will simply scroll through the history; if you put your finger at the bottom you will return to the main screen; and there's this big blue shuffle button in the middle. This new album view simply lacks ergonnomics.
Why don't I use the history mode? Well, I mainly use the music app to listen to audiobooks and podcasts, that I delete and replace on a daily or weekly basis. They simply never make it to the history. What's left in the most viewed mode are music albums that I listen from time to time, not what I use daily.
I can only hope that this absurdity will be fixed soon.
P.S. When hitting the pause button, it takes 1/2 a second to take effect. Not much but it is noticeable. This happened before in a previous update and was fixed quickly, I hope it will be the same again.

i downloaded an album on itunes using my new itouch; but it's only allowing me to put three songs at any one time into the music app...how can i get it to just move them all in there?

I don't think that's quite the issue though. I bought an album and it appears in 'my purchases' within the itunes app. Yet, in order to listen to the music, i must use the 'music' app and in this application, there are only three tracks displayed at any one time from my downloaded album.
I can 'download all' from the 'my purchases' section but that still doesn't help, it just keeps the last three tracks downloaded in the music app.
I have the 'icloud' enabled and wondered if it had anything to do with that.
i have successfully downloaded another full album totally into the music app, but this first album is causing me problems. -
When one or more family members who have been sharing one iTunes account wants to create their own iTunes account can they each upload the music/apps from the shared iTunes on their devices to the new iTunes account?
Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:

Both my mother, father, and I recently got iPhones. We've all had iPods in the past and been able to survive under a single Apple ID/iCloud account. Now that we all have iPhones, we've heard a couple horror stories about parents and kids contacts and calenders merging when they are registered under the same Apple ID. What steps should we take to avoid this problem? We would still like to be able to share the same music, apps, videos, etc. If we all get individual Apple IDs, can we still all use the same iTunes library we have on our computer without any pitfalls?

A response would be much appreciated(:You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs. (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.) This will prevent you from ending up with merged data. You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

Music App no longer showing Artist view iOS6
In the Music app on iOS 6 I have accidentally changed the Artist column under More -> Edit to only include albums by Linkin Park. I am not sure how to revert to showing all Artists. Is there any way to reset the views? For some additional information, I am using iPhone 5 and iTunes match.
Just some additional information, I don't even see a way to change the tab names or what they include. I have no idea how I edited the Artist tab to only include linkin park. Is there anyway to edit the categories?

How do I put these songs and videos onto the Music App?
How do I load mp3 content, videos, and other content from applications onto the music app? For example, I have applications such as Video Hunter Pro that downloads youtube videos, but how do I put the videos or audio track into my Music app? I don't want to constantly switch apps. For iTunes on all devices.
Only items directly downloaded from iTunes Store or synced over from iTunes on a computer can be placed in the music or video app.

How can I sync a podcast in iTunes to Podcasts app, but not Music app
When I first got the podcast app I had three podcasts set to sync to my iPhone. Two were podcasts I'm subscribed to via iTunes Music Store and one is a podcast downloaded from a website as individual files (I changed the type to Podcast). The first time I lauched the Podcasts app all of them were there and I was happy. Even though they were now in my Podcasts app I subscribed to them from the app (except for the one that I didn't get from iTunes) I then turned off podcast syncing in iTunes so it wouldn't sync podcasts to both my Music app and my Podcasts app. Maybe this wasn't necessary but I didn't want duplicates and I found nothing online telling me if syncing would result in two copies or not so I chose to turn it off.
Now I've listened to all of the episodes of the one I downloaded from a website and I want to put more, newer episodes of it on my iPhone. However, I can't figure out how to get them from iTunes to the Podcasts app. The only thing I can think of would be to turn on syncing again but as mentioned above, I'd like to leave syncing off.
Any help appreciated.Unfortunately since the Podcast App is not part of iTunes, you cannot sycn from iTunes. You have to subscribe to the podcast from inside the Podcast App.
Do this by clicking on the gear in the top right hand corner. Then turn "Subscription" on. While you're here decide with order you want to sort them, oldest or newest first. Be aware that, to my knowledge, your IOS device must be awake to download the podcasts you subscribe to.
To delete podcasts you've listened to, simply swipe from right to left on the podcast and tap on the delete button when it appears. This is done by individually, just like in Mail. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a way to select multiple episodes to delete at once. -
IOS8.1 Music App won't play "Skip When Shuffling" songs at all
iTunes has two options for skipping a song during shuffle: the first column with the tick box (let's call this the "Play Column"), and the "Skip When Shuffling" tick box in the Options tab of the song info.
For songs in iTunes where the Play Column is unticked but Skip When Shuffling box is also unticked, this works as it should when synced to the iPhone: ie the song doesn't come up in shuffle, but it can still be selected & played directly on Music app.
But when the Skip When Shuffling box is ticked (regardless of whether the Play Column is ticked or not), the song can't even be selected & played directly on the Music app. When selected, it just picks another random song from my playlist to start shuffling from.
It's like the Skip When Shuffling option overrides the Play Column (no idea why iTunes should have two different options to do the same thing anyway), but has also now stopped the App from playing the song at all. I've tested this by unticking the Skip When Shuffling box in iTunes & re-syncing to the iPhone, and the Music app now plays the songs when selected directly.
My iPhone 4S using iOS8 always played these songs with no problem, so this is a new issue/bug/feature with either iO8.1 or the app in the iPhone 6 itself.What kind of Music App are you using?
Maybe some Apps they have bugs when using iOS7.

IPhone 5 music app won't play. Stuck in infinite shuffle.
I recently received my iPhone 5 and everything went smoothly setting it up from backup. However, the music.app opens but is continuously shuffling. Music won't play. It will just cycle through songs without playing anything. My question is am I going to have to restore it or am I going to have to wait on an update? And yes I have already done a hard reset. Thanks!
I saw in one of the other similar posts that a person said to unclick the "sync music" box, sync, click the sync music again, disconnect, reconnect, and then re-sync. I missed the disconnect and reconnect part, so it didn't work, but when I disconnected/reconnected, it worked. It was as if my phone didn't fully sync previously because it literally had to sync all of my music. However, now the endless shuffling and greyed out lists are gone. It works just as it should! Hope this works for you too!

You are talking about the menu bar of Itunes, right?
Yes. With iTunes open the menu bar is at the top of your screen.
where exactly is the Store/synck you iphone option?
After you authorize the computer connect your iPhone then follow the instructions here > iOS: How to transfer or sync content to your computer
When you are done transferring the data to the desktop, right or control click the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window then click Back Up.
That way you will have a backup just in case you need to restore your iPhone. -
I have itunes set up on a PC with all my music, apps, etc. I want to stop using PC and move my iTunes and files to a Mac I bought and synch my iPhone with the Mac. Can I just synch iPhone with Mac iTunes and will it copy all my stuff onto Mac, or will I have to copy files from PC onto Mac?

Music app reorders the wrong song in playlist
In the music app, when I try to reorder the songs in my playlist it moves the song before the one I actually wanted to move (when there is one), and then it moves it to one spot higher than what I wanted as well (except when I'm moving it to the first song in the list).
I'm sure it's a matter of some novice programmer not knowing if the app indexed starting at 0 or 1 and it should be trivial to fix, so how soon will it be fixed?
I thought of a work around but it's really annoying. If I want to move the last song in my list, I have to add the same song again (probably any song would work, but this is more obvious) and then try to move it to the top of the list (which actually moves the old one). After that I can get rid of the duplicate that's still at the bottom.
Was this handled in the iOS 6.1 patch? I didn't see it in the patch notes.
When will this be patched? It shouldn't be this hard to reorder songs.I'm having a similar issue with my 5s, The playlist will allow me to edit and reorder the songs, however, as soon as I hit "done" it reorders them back to the spot they were previously in. I have the same iOS 7 on my iPad and no issue so it must be something with the iphone only.

You would have to create the ringtones.
Google will find several way to do this.
You cannot buy ready made ringtones from your computer. -

Okay. I am totally in a bad situtation. I have IOS 6 and 2 things have gone wrong. The Music app where you have your music, is bad. I have songs and stuff. And when i touch a song nothing happens. The letters are grey and nothing happens. The app store is also a problem. The appstore on IOS 6, when im on search and i search for and app, it exits the app store in like 5 seconds. And when i first updated the IOS 6, it was still like that HELP!
Did you do a restore from iTune or iCloud backup recently?

Ios 6 music app on ios 7 (to fix genre issue)
I am no longer able to drill down from genre to artists songs in the genre and their albums with songs in that genre. Apple has told me that is by design. So I have lost that ability and some others here have said the same thing.
Is there a way to find and use the ios 6 music app under ios 7 somehow? Else, I need to find a 3rd party app that will play the existing music (I don't want to download anything outside of itunes) and allow me to drill down from genre as ios 6's music app allowed me to do.
Any suggestions (incl. possible apps if I can't use ios 6 music app)?I use, by the way, the windows app Tag & Rename. Have been using it for years and highly recommend it if you are on the windows platform. In order to get things to work properly I had to change tags in two ways for ios 7: (1) copy all my artist fields to album artists fields and (2) (unfortunately) pull out the data in the year field (which I moved to the comment field) since ios 7 now sorts by the year field as well.
That got the ios 7 music player to final list the stuff properly - at least as I drilled down from genre. Still, the interface was at a minimum "wanting". I found an inexpensive (not free) app - I think it was something like $3.99. It was written and supported by two programmers - a 18 and 21 year old. Still the interface is relatively clean and the gestures once learned make things easy to find out and change with a single finger - check it out: "Ecoute". It does the job for me much better then ios 7's.
My only complaint is since I do not have album art or any other art associated with music as I am a composer and write my own material - I end up with 5 rows and 3 columns of icons with default icons. But even that has an 'option' as you can get a textual list by taping on the top. If you are at genres and the artist is showing, tapping on the top will list all the tracks in alphabetical order with times for that artist. If the albums are showing in the screen - tapping on the artist on the top will display all the tracks in alphabetical order with a line below them describing the album name. And when you tap just on the album icon, you get just a list of the tracks.
Some other cool tapping and swiping actions.... easy to learn...
