Music app on Ipad not playing off Itunes match

The music app for my Ipad2 worked perfectly playing songs off ICloud until today. Suddenly, when I select a song to play, instead of downloading it runs through every song on the album without actually playing any music. Any ideas what's wrong?

Reconnect your iPad to your Mac and after it syncs, do not disconnect. Click once on the iPad on the left side of the screen. Your iPad will open in iTunes. Click on the Music tab and you can then either check sync all music, or you can check sync selected songs playlists. Either choose sync all music, or if you choose to select the music, you scroll down and choose the artists, albums, playlists or genres you want to sync. You'll see your memory go down as you choose what music you want. Once you're done choosing the music, on the right hand bottom of your iTunes screen, click Apply, then Sync to create a current backup with your music on your iPad. Then disconnect, open iPod on your iPad and your music will be there.

But that's what I don't want to do. I think I must have misunderstood what was possible with iTunes Match and the cloud. I had thought I would be able to play my music directly from the cloud using WiFi. I didn't think I would have to download it from the cloud to play it on my iPad. I store it in the cloud because I don't have enough storage space on my iPad -- I can't download all my music because I run out of storage space. If iTunes Match doesn't allow you to play the music FROM THE CLOUD, but instead only allows you to DOWNLOAD IT FROM THE CLOUD TO YOUR IPAD TO PLAY, then it's not serving the purpose I thought it would. What's the point of storing it in the cloud if you have to download it to play it?
The only way I could imagine it working for me is if it possible to only download particular albums or songs. Or does your whole library have to be downloaded?

Why does the music app in iPad default back to itunes radio every time i open it? That's very annoying. Can the default behavior be changed?

I discovered a work around to the problem.
I made a backup copy of the app file from "Mobile Applications" and then deleted the app from within iTunes and told it to move the file to the trash can. I then selected "Transfer Purchases" and the app was transfered from the iPhone back to the "Mobile Applications" folder. The new app file's size is larger (+40MB) than the original one so it must contain the additional content. This seems like a serious bug in iTunes with in-app purchases but it's not clear what the root cause is. It could be a problem with all in-app purchases or only for apps that have been updated to now include in-app purchase when the prior versions did not. I wonder if anyone else has noticed this issue with in-app purchases.
Any suggestions on the best way to report this issue to Apple ?

I can understand this with videos you are streaming, i.e. maybe you have a slow data connection.
Videos on your phone should not do this. Try a reset by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.

I have subscribed to iTunes Match and have employed it to listen to music on my Macbook Air and iMac. On these devices it seems to operate by streaming music to the device rather than deleting the device's current iTunes library and downloading songs as they are played from iTunes Match. Not so on the iPhone as far as I can tell. Consequently, to date I have not activated iTunes Match on my iPhone 4S. I presently have 40-50GB's of music on my iPhone, sync'd from my iTunes music library on my Macbook Air. I am concerned that if I enable iTunes Match on my iPhone I will lose the music library already on my iPhone, as Apple seems to be representing that once iTunes Match is enabled on the iPhone the current music library, carefully compiled, will be gone from the iPhone forever (unless I later re-sync it from the iTunes library on my laptop), that it will be deleted. Although this would free up a lot of space on my iPhone, I bought the 64GB phone just so that I could keep a lot of music on it and accessible at all times. I am concerned that in certain instances, say if I am in the subway and want to listen to music on my iPhone but don't have internet access below ground, that I won't have much music to listen to, only those songs previously played and thus downloaded onto the phone from iMatch, presenting me witrh a rather limited choice of music to play instead of the 40-50GB's I now have to choose from. Apple seems to have presented me with the choice of the lesser of 2 evils: i) enable iTunes Match and lose the music library already on the iPhone in exchange for access to iTunes Match and a greater number of songs than I can fit onto the phone (my library exceeds the phone's capacity) when a Cloud connection is available or ii) don't enable iTunes match and limit myself to only those songs, a considerable portion of my library to be sure but not all of it, that I can fit in the phone's storage space, i.e., the 40-50 GB's I have on there now. If I choose the latter course, each time I purchase an album I'll have to delete another album to make room for it on the phone. Apple thus offers me a sort of Hobson's choice, bad all the way around. Do I have this right? The Apple techs I've spoken to don't seem to have a handle on the "deletion" aspect of enabling iTunes Match on the iPhone. Right now, I'm too scared of "losing" my iPhone music library to enable iTunes Match on the iPhone. [Possible work-around, albeit a pain in the ***: I suppose that I can enable iTunes Match on the iPhone and spend the next couple of weeks 24/7 downloading songs from my iTunes Match library back onto the phone to replace at least some of those deleted when Match was enabled, thereby rebuilding a proxy library on the phone itself to play when I'm stuck in a tunnel between Brooklyn and Manhattan while maintaining access to thee larger iTunes Match library, more music than my phone will hold, once we come back into the light and my Cloud connection is restored.] Comments, suggestions will be appreciated. Purchased music and m4p files not playing in itunes

Background: so I had @me.com account with all my music purchased but it got disabled. so I tried to reset it but of course my birthdate did not work. I dont have contacting apple but they could not verify me with only 1 security question, no credit card, and incorrect serial number. so the @me account cant be accessed. Later that year my computer got struck by lighting destroying the hard drive/computer. the good new is I had a backup of the music. I put the music file on the new computer and when I tried to play the .m4p protected files itunes wants my @me.com account I cant access. I have my music on my computer and on my ipod classic but can only play the music on my ipod classic. I have many more tracks I want to add to my ipod but dont want to lose the music I already bought. I already tried many times with program to convert the music but it seems that need the music to play in itunes to work (authorize computer).
Question: Is trying to get my music to play the .m4p files a lost cause? Or can I stream the music from my ipod classic to computer then convert it? Or can I copy an authoriztion file from ipod classic? Any assistance with is would be very helpful.
PS: fairplay is not fair at all.

You're not alone. I'm having the same problem ever since I updated to iOS 6.1. You might try what was suggested in my thread. It didn't work for me unfortunately.

Purchased Music on iPod will not play in iTunes

I'm trying Authorize my work computer to play my purchased iTunes songs from my iPod, No Luck. It's just keeps asking to authorize, I authorize then it say it was successful.
Try to play and it asks me again...again...again.
I'm running Mac OS X 10.3.9 on a DUAL 1GHz PowerPC G4

I tried all of these steps, but I'm still not getting the Ipod updater to even recognize that my Ipod is plugged in.
The computer is recognizing that the Ipod is plugged in, and it opens Itunes 5.0 like usual, but after I connected my Ipod to sync for the first time since installing 5.0 it erased like 200 songs off my ipod, and says that
"Some of the songs in the Itunes music library were not copied to the Ipod "My Ipod" because your Ipod software is too old. Go to www.apple.com/ipod to get the latest IPod software update."
every time i try to get those songs back on. I believe the songs it erased are ones I purchased from the Music store.
Recap:
1. Ipod is being recognized and can be seen in Itunes.
2. Itunes says my ipod software is too old to load some songs from my library.
3. Ipod updater 2005 9_06 will not recognize that my ipod is connected to my computer even though it shows up perfectly on my desktop and in Itunes.
4. My ipod itself is running just fine, its just missing like 100$ worth of music i purchased : (

Although my iTunes match account did not renew, the "music" tab for my iPad (under iTunes on my MacPro) when connected, still shows "iTunes Match is ON"
Under the "store" in iTunes menu tab it shows: "Turn On iTunes match"
It is OK for all other devices; iPhones, etc. Only for iPad the problem still remains.
On the iPad itself; it shows off, i.e.: "please renew iMatch account"
I have tried logins and outs, sync, etc. Nothing works! I cannot sync my music on my iPad anymore, even manually!

This got me curious when I first saw it... It does indeed seem very Un-Apple-like (at least historically) to prevent a user from customizing their own device - Mac or iDevice - but today I'm unsure. I cannot grasp how a UX designer could leave a simple "OFF" switch out of the control panel. Another thing that Music Data Streaming does is eat up your Data Plan.
This May not be the exact issue as you describe, but seems to solve an issue of a Radio Playlist in iTunes resuming where it left off from the last use...

Play last song on list, songs will then stop. Works for me on iPad. Haven't tried yet on iPhone.

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    1.    Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
    2.    Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
    3.    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    4.    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    5.    Restart your router.
    6.    Restart your mobile device.

Since I updated my iphone none of my music that I did not purchase through itunes no longer works on my iphone. It is weird, the music is on the iphone but in gray and the iphone does not recognize it. The only songs that I could play are my songs that I downloaded on my phone that were purchased through itunes.
Another error: When I purchase a new song on itunes it doesn't put the song in my purchased playlist like it used too. In order for me to play that song I just purchased I have to go back to the itunes store and play it directly from the place I purchased it from which is super annoying.
Frankly I am really disappointed with the constant errors from upgrades that should be "Up grades" Not "down grades". Not sure why is going on but not seems to work the same anymore. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong with my iphone music?

Have you failed to maintain a backup copy?
