Music app on my Touch crashes on start

Briefly, here are the facts:
1. My iPod Touch is a 3rd generation, 64GB device with about 26+GB unused storage; iOS version 5.1.1
2. The Touch continues to sync just fine with the iTunes on my MBP; I have sync'd only songs — no podcasts, no music videos, movies, etc.
3. When I open the Music app, it builds a white screen with gray bar across the top, then after about 18 seconds it just quits back to the Home screen.
4. The Music app appears to be the only app on this device that is broken; no antecedent event 
3. I have tried multiple Resets, and even a complete Restore to factory defaults and re-syncing.
4. The only way I have been able to get the Music app to open again has been to remove all songs, then add back some.  It almost seems as though the Music app can load or process only a limited number of songs, any more, although it used to handle more than 4700 songs without any problem at all.
I hesitate to blame this app failure on the iOS 5.1.1 upgrade, since the vast majority of the iOS 5.1 user base is not experiencing a similar issue with their Music app.   Has anyone out there experienced a similar problem with their Music app on the Touch, and been able to resolve the problem?  Please help, if you can.   Access to my complete music library is the main reason for my having bought this iPod Touch.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
-  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Every app on my Mac crashes on start

    Hello everyone!
    Well this is not a joke, every app on my Mac crashes whenever in what condition. Finder, Pages, Keynote, System Preferences, System Information, Photoshop... all apps on my Mac crashes on start. This happened from I shutdown my Mac (normal condition) and I went to my friend's home then when I boot up my Mac all apps are dead. I think that it might be caused by HardDrive shock and damages the disk, so when I got home I headed to Apple's Internet Recovery to have a Hard Disk repair. At last nothing was changed after the repair. Before I head to my friends home, my Mac was totally fine and I didn't download anything to my Mac (might not be a virus).
    What should I do please help me! Thanks!

    My VMWare Fusion no longer works. The other apps aren't crashing, but I have inconveniences. TextEdit no longer brings up a new document right away. Safari sometimes shows my bookmarks when I don’t want to see them. It might even be slower. The Messages App doesn’t let me send text messages to people who don’t have iMessage. In Logic at one point my menu bar disappeared. And of course, the name reminds me of Sarah Palin and John McCain.
    In TextEdit I couldn't see the I-beam cursor.
    The Mail App might appear slower because it doesn’t show old messages right away.
    I do like some of the new features, like Maps, and freezing ads, but I was expecting a more seamless transition.
    And look, my fonts are different sizes above.

    Re: That garbage is unreadable.
    If you really want help, stop messing with the fonts and post so that others can read and offer suggestions.
    Or better yet... try a search, I'm certain you'll find a solution to whatever issue you're experiencing.
    I have found that many times it is the things that make you most angry that push you to action. This was the case here. Thank you for causing me to get so angry that I found the answer myself.

  • Music app on reverted iPad crashes

    After successfully reverting my iPad 2 to iOS 7.1.2, my Music app (Apple app; can't be deleted and reloaded) crashes on start.
    Anybody else experiencing this and is there a solution for this?

    Did you find a solution for this? The same thing just started happening to me today on an iPhone 5 with iOS 7.1.2.

    Has anyone else who uses the Music App's Sort Artist to alphabetize artists by last name noticed this is no longer working? At least on my devices (iPod Touch & iPad 2) this function seems broken. Maybe it's just a setting I've neglected?

  • CATASTROPHE: Every app (except core ones) crash on start. Please help!

    Hi,
    I just came home after spending a month out of the country with no computer but my iPhone 4. Now that I want to check some of the information I put in, I see that every app crashes on start. I already turned it off and on several times and it didn't help. Also did soft resets (sleep/wake + home) several times and didn't help either.
    Nothing was installed, nothing was done, nothing was changed. It wasn't updated either. I just turned it off for the night and then turned it off the next morning.
    I'm shaking because I have one month of data in it I can't access in any way!
    Please, does anyone have a magic fix for this?

    I was trying just about anything and was going out of my mind when I noticed that installing a new app somehow fixed the issue. I think any app would do.
    Phew! I'm going to sync RIGHT NOW!

  • XBOX Music App for Windows 8 crashes and exits after a few seconds

    Upgraded to Windows 8 Pro today from Windows 7.  Everything seems to be working fine except for the music app.  Not long after I open the app it crashes and exits the app.  No errors, no warnings, etc.....  Any ideas????

    Sounds like this is caused by the software conflicts, does it occur when you disable all background
    third-party service and programs?
    Or try to test with another account to check how it works.

    I click on the music App, it opens and closes straightaway.  It has worked OK in the past.  I have turned off and on again...still the same

    Sorry paulcb...That didn't work for me.  I even tried resetting my phone and restoring it from backup...Same problem.  It worked one time over the weekend, suddenly and then stopped again.  Can't get it to play music.  iTunes store works fine on the phone.  I can even download new music...And then not listen to it.  The app opens, sits at a blank white screen and then after about 30 seconds, closes back to home screen.

    Hello everyone,
    Since about a day and a half I have been having problems with my Ipod Touch. All of the apps I got via the App store fail to start up. That is, they start up, the opening screen of the app quickly flashes and I am returned to the home screen. This ONLY goes for apps I installed myself, i.e. Internet, the App store itself, email and the like all work properly.
    I believe it was tuesday night that I updated to the new operating system for iPod Touch, iOS 4.3.3 (I have checked and my Ipod is running on iOS 4.3.3, just not sure when I installed it...). Wednesday morning I used a few apps and they worked fine, but in the afternoon none would open anymore. I tried switching it off and on again a few times, hooked it up to iTunes and searched for updates, but nothing helped. Since all apps that are downloaded have this problem, I doubt removing and re-downloading all would work. That'd take ages too, so I hope someone can help me with how to fix this? By the way, it is thursday night as I write this, the problems have been going on for over a day now

    - Try resetting the iPod:
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Next download/install a free app.  Others have said that that worked.

  • Ipod Touch Crashes while starting up

    Whenever i try to turn on my ipod touch the apple logo appears,which is normal. Then a few seconds later while the logo is still present the screen turns white and fuzzy and vertical lines appear on the screen, then it crashes and the ipod turns off. And without me even touching it again, it automatically turns back on repeats what it did before. Please if anyone has any solutions please help.  

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
    How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Music app crashes after ios6 installed

    The pre-installed Music "app" on my phone crashes consistently ever since I installed the ios6 update.
    Half of the time, it opens to a frozen screen listing the artists in my collection; the other half, it opens to the screenshot listed below.  Both result in a crash and closing of the app on its own within 20 seconds.
    Is this just me or is this everyone?

    I have the same issue it is very annoying. I can't listen to music on my iphone...
    I've tried to fix it, and restored the phone. Music app still crashes. So this is something should be solved by apple!

  • Apps crashing on start after update to 6.1.3

    I recently updated my iPhone 4S with the latest software version 6.1.3.
    After the update I tried to back up my phone, and then restore it, due to some glitches I was experiencing. All appeared to go well until I tried to back-up restore. Whether I try to back-up from iTunes or the Cloud, it tells me my bak-up is corrupt or not capitable with my phone. I know the latter is not the case.
    I gave up trying to restore from the latest back-up and used one from 10 weeks ago. That also seemed to work fine until I tried to open my apps. They all crash on start -- all of them.
    I have since done a hard restart (holding down the top-left button and the home button to restart the phone), I've reset to factory settings, I have tried syncing my apps from iTunes, I've even tried deleting the apps and re-downloading them from the App Store and nothing is working.
    This is insanely frustrating. Is there ANYONE who can help me solve this really annoying issue?
    Even more annpying is I am still getting notified when I am sent a message via the "Viber" app or a new "SnapChat" ... yet when I go to open the app to retrieve the message, it crashes before it even opens... WHAT is happening and HOW do I fix this?! PLEASE HELP!

    I tried your suggestion, but no such luck! I feel like I've tried everything. I just don't understand it. Everything was working as per usual up until I updated the software, but that can't possibly be the problem, can it? And if it is - what now?! ... This is a seriously annoying first world problem..

    I just updated to iOS5 and regularly view enhanced podcasts.  after the update, I can no longer figure out how to view the enhanced version anymore.  I get the sound, but the image does not change.  Can anybody please help?

    Having the same issue except for the crashes. Everything seems to be working, just not the way it used to. The enhanced podcasts were great, the ones that I subscribed to changed the backgrounds often and linked to other sites and gave some great info. Now... Nothing!
    I have been reading that everyone is having issues with podcasts and the button to get new episodes, or whatever it was called, and this may just be another glitch. I sure wish they could fix it. I listen to podcasts more that I ever listened to music.
