Music app problems iOS 8.2

I'd thought I would post this, but my music app was perfectly fine till I upgraded to iOS 8.2. I can't figure this one out, because it's still bugging me. But whenever I restored my iPod touch 5g, some of the music artists on certain songs would have different names or will have a featuring artist added on for no reason.
Example:
Taio Cruz & Travie McCoy - Higher (as listed on the store and iTunes playlist)
Taio Cruz - Higher (as listed on iPod)
I don't know what's going on here, but I never edited the changes. As it's showing up different on my iPod. Does it have something to do with iCloud or is it a glitch? If anyone else is experiencing this problem, please reply below.
Thanks!
P.S. - I've restored it six times and the problem is still there. And noticed it on my iPhone as well...

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Manage Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Ios 6 music app on ios 7 (to fix genre issue)

I am no longer able to drill down from genre to artists songs in the genre and their albums with songs in that genre.  Apple has told me that is by design.  So I have lost that ability and some others here have said the same thing.
Is there a way to find and use the ios 6 music app under ios 7 somehow?  Else, I need to find a 3rd party app that will play the existing music (I don't want to download anything outside of itunes) and allow me to drill down from genre as ios 6's music app allowed me to do.
Any suggestions (incl. possible apps if I can't use ios 6 music app)?

I use, by the way, the windows app Tag & Rename.  Have been using it for years and highly recommend it if you are on the windows platform.  In order to get things to work properly I had to change tags in two ways for ios 7: (1) copy all my artist fields to album artists fields and (2) (unfortunately) pull out the data in the year field (which I moved to the comment field) since ios 7 now sorts by the year field as well.
That got the ios 7 music player to final list the stuff properly - at least as I drilled down from genre.  Still, the interface was at a minimum "wanting".  I found an inexpensive (not free) app - I think it was something like $3.99.  It was written and supported by two programmers - a 18 and 21 year old.  Still the interface is relatively clean and the gestures once learned make things easy to find out and change with a single finger - check it out: "Ecoute".  It does the job for me much better then ios 7's.
My only complaint is since I do not have album art or any other art associated with music as I am a composer and write my own material - I end up with 5 rows and 3 columns of icons with default icons.  But even that has an 'option' as you can get a textual list by taping on the top.  If you are at genres and the artist is showing, tapping on the top will list all the tracks in alphabetical order with times for that artist. If the albums are showing in the screen - tapping on the artist on the top will display all the tracks in alphabetical order with a line below them describing the album name.  And when you tap just on the album icon, you get just a list of the tracks.
Some other cool tapping and swiping actions....  easy to learn...

  • Is ther a way to quickly delete whole albums in the music app in iOS 7?

I often download new music and need to remove old music to make space.  I use Match, so I almost never sync with a computer these days, and even when I do I don't manage my music that way.  The music app in iOS 7 seems to have no way to delete albums, just individual songs.  This is very tedious when I want to remove one album and replace it with another album.  Happily, I can still download a whole album with one tap.  Has anyone found the secret to deleting albums?

it looks like they took out the "Show" option under Mail settings completely and added a Flag choice instead. Don't know why.

  • Music library and Music.app problems

Hi, recently I've update to 5.0.1 from 4.1 (clean restore of an iPhone 4). I'm having issues with the music library of the iPhone. I have the "manually manage music" option selected so I can change information of the songs (like the title for example) directly in the iPhone (througth iTunes). But when I try to change the Album in the info tab of the song that is on my iPhone, it doesn't change. I can see the new album on iTunes on my iPhone tab, but in the iPhone, in the music.app, I only see the older album.
I have been reading around here and I've noticed that the music.app in iOS 5 has certain bugs, could this be one of them?
I don't want to restore because I've been days configuring my phone and it's not that big deal...
Also I've noticed, on my girlfriend's iPhone 3G with iOS 3.1.3, with the same options, when I change the album name, on the iPod.app I see: updating library, please wait... or something like that, like the inside music library is being refresh. But it's like I'm unable to do that now. Could be because of the new sync method that allow you to use the phone while syncing?
Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.

I did it and nothing. Anyway, you mean before or after the change in iTunes?
Actually the album change worked for a second. I changed one song, and iTunes said "wait while preparing for sync" for a while. Then the text dessapeared, and the album was changed on my music.app. And when I tried to change the other songs, the same text was on iTunes but this time only for something like 3 seconds, with no effect for the iPhone, of course.
What can I do to sync the information correctly?

  • How do you delete albums from the music app in iOS 7?

How do you delete albums from the music app in iOS 7?

You use to be able to in the last IOS and it was a nice feature and now it's gone. iOS7 ruined the Music App!

  • IOS 8.1 screen rotation in music app problem

I'm currently experiencing a problem with my music app on the iPhone 6.  Whenever I open the music app and rotate it into landscape mode, the screen switches off but when I rotate it back to portrait it comes on again. How do I solve this? On iPhone 6

I have rebooted the iPhone 5 and initially things seem to be fine. But then after a while if as I say, you disconnect the headphones or some other disruption occurs to the music the play/pause button in the command centre does not work. If you the go back to your list of tracks the little graphic equaliser icon is working indicating the track is playing, but it is not!
I wasted a couple of hours yesterday thinking some work I was doing on my bike was faulty but I then tried it with an ipad on the last version of iOS and that works fine, the music resuming normally after a nav instruction interruption.

  • Music app problems with iPad 2 (iOS 5.1.1)

So lately I've been noticing the music app has been acting up. A while ago I deleted songs directly off of my iPad and then when I plugged it into a computer, the tracks came back but you cannot play them - they're faded, but you can still see all the information and stuff, I don't know if they're taking up memory or not. I know I should just go onto the computer and delete them from there, but it's still annoying. Another thing, sometimes it doesn't let me go to the previous song without putting up a fight. I have to repetitively press previous at least 10 times in a row, very fast in order to go back to just one song. Just a few moments ago, when I clicked on a song it would play a random one, not the one I selected. It did that to every song I selected, and then it suddenly started working correctly again. Lastly, I noticed that I've been missing a few album covers that were once there.
I just want to know if anyone else has been having the same issues at all? Thanks.

I know I should just go onto the computer and delete them from there, but it's still annoying.
You don't have to delete music on your computer to remove music from an iPod, iPhone, or iPad. If you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes and you have Sync Only Checked Songs and Video selected under the Summary tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, you can uncheck the songs in your iTunes library or in the selected playlist in iTunes that you want removed from the iPad followed by a sync.
Any change after powering your iPad off and on and/or after a reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release?
If not and you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes, deselect Sync Music followed by a sync. This should remove all music from your iPad. Follow this by reselecting Sync Music making your selections below followed by another sync to re-transfer the music back to the iPad.

  • Music app problems in iOS 7

how to extend the space for 'files names' column in 'songs' tab of Music app?
i am so disappointed in iOS7's music app. there are tabs for Artists & Albums in music app, there is no need to allocate artist and album columns in 'Songs' or 'Playlists' Tabs. I CAN NOT READ MY FILES NAMES COMPLETELY BECAUSE THE FILE NAME'S COLUMN IS SO SMALL.
PLEASE TELL ME IS THERE ANY WAY TO REMOVE ARTIST AND ALBUM COLUMNS??

I whole heartedly agree with the other comments here, the search function has been hidden, frustrating, when it used to sit in the bottom right corner where it was easy to access. Every view is list, with a library of 8000 songs, that is a lot of scrolling, it also denies me the joy of quickly scanning a grid view, much as you would do in a record store (I am old enough to remember those) and find that gem in my collection that I haven't heard in a while. The genius button again has been hidden behind a create option, ok it is there, but why hide it.
The overly asthetics are fine, not knock my socks fantastic, just fine.
Please apple if you read these comments, please add back some of the features you have taken away with this update.

  • Problems with iPad Music App in iOS 5

In iOS5 on my original iPad, the Music app is much more difficult to use. Right now a song is playing but I have a mostly black screen and no clear way to make the album art or lists of music visible. Any suggestions? I liked the iPod app before; this seems a major step backward.

Yes, this is how I usually do it as well, however it doesn't always behave as expected when I do what you describe in the last sentence. Instead of flipping to the white song list, it remains black and blank. The tiny album in the progress bar disappears as does the progress bar itself, however music continues to play. The buttons at the very bottom all cease to function. Only REW, PLAY/PAUSE, FWD and the volume function. Leaving the app and coming back doesn't clear it up. I have to hit the home button and then force quit the app in order to regain control. Here's a screen grab of what it looks like. Truly odd.

  • App store and Music app on IOS 6 is not working. Music has my music, but the title of the songs are grey and when I touch them, nothing happens! The app store. when im on search, it exits the app. WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

Okay. I am totally in a bad situtation. I have IOS 6 and 2 things have gone wrong. The Music app where you have your music, is bad. I have songs and stuff. And when i touch a song nothing happens. The letters are grey and nothing happens. The app store is also a problem. The appstore on IOS 6, when im on search and i search for and app, it exits the app  store in like 5 seconds. And when i first updated the IOS 6, it was still like that HELP!

Did you do a restore from iTune or iCloud backup recently?

  • Really wish Apple hadn't broken the Music app in iOS 7

I've been a fan of Apple's handling of music since the original iPods.  I have a lot of music, so I have always appreciated how easy it was to navigate my large collection.  That is until I unwittingly upgraded my iPhone to iOS 7.
Somewhere the designers decided that it would be more elegant or pretty to have albums listed together under each Artist.  It probably seemed pretty benign to a casual user of the app.  It brings more of your music together which is going to make it easier.  Right???   WRONG.
I'm sure that there are many people who are going to find the best thing about the previous organization on the iPod/iPhones has suddenly become the worst.
Just to give a little background, using Artists > Albums > Tracks on selected album is really the only way to deal with a large collection.  The list of Albums is simply too large and an alphabetical list is pretty useless anyway.  Really, the only way to quickly get to what I wanted was to scroll the list of Artists, pick and album from the list, and the pick the track i wanted to start with.  FAST.  EASY.
Now, in someone's infinite wisdom, I have lost something that I have used daily for well over 10 years.  Now, when I select an artist from the list, I'm not presented with a nice list of albums.  I get a huge list of songs.  In many cases, there are hundreds of songs in this list.  If I want to find a specific album, I either have to type its name (LAME) or just start scrolling down this huge list.
Additionally, this list is not sorted alphabetically.  It appears to be chronological, however I'm guessing that problems with tagging could throw that off as well.  I'm not completely opposed to the idea of chronological sorting, but MAKE IT A CONFIGURATION OPTION.  I feel like Apple should not pull the rug from under a passionate user base that in many case has been using (and loving) their technology for up to 12 years.  Don't make assumptions about what people want.  And, if you think you have a great idea, at least leave configuration options to turn it back for those who don't like your changes.
I guess ultimately listening to music isn't that important in the scheme of things, but for the sake of argument, Apple has completely crippled the usage of the Music app for me.  And, based on my observation, I can't see a good reason for it.
If anyone with any power to effect change in the product reads these ramblings, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE change it back.  Or, at least provide an option so that I can change it back myself.
    Thanks.

" I feel like Apple should not pull the rug from under a passionate user base that in many case has been using (and loving) their technology for up to 12 years.  Don't make assumptions about what people want."
    HAhahaha.... ROTFL!

  • Music App Problem

Hey guys, I've got an annoying problem with my music app. It shows the songs that I've previously bought through iTunes and I don't want them on my phone. I think it's being shown through iCloud, but I don't have iCloud set up to back up my muisc. I've tried swiping to delete them and the delete option doesn't pop up, and the songs don't show up when I plug my phone into iTunes. A little background info - iPhone 4, iOS 7.0.2, almost two years old. If someone could help me with this I would greatly appreciate it.

    Hi Volcoman,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The variable that has changed with iOS 7 is the "Show All Music" option in Settings > iTunes & App Store. This feature displays your iTunes in the Cloud purchases on your device (while they are not locally stored). You can identify these by the "cloud download" icon on the right. To hide your iTunes in the Cloud purchases, disable this feature in Settings > iTunes & App Store.

  • Can't delete iTunes Match music from Music app in iOS 6 Music app?!

Totally insane - the ability to delete music downloaded from iTunes match has been removed from the iOS 6 Music app! No more "swipe left and delete". I can't find any way to delete music, in fact. Can someone please tell me this is a massive mistake that will quickly be fixed. How did this make it through to the final release?!

The topic has been discussed in-depth on this forum.
Apple change the way iTM works in iOS 6 to no longer allow downloading or deleting of individual tracks with iTunes Match enabled. To delete individual tracks iTM must first be disabled; to delete all downloaded music from the iOS device go to settings > general > usage, tap Music then swipe All Music and tap delete.

  • Music app problem's in ios6? i can't see a few artists in the list.

Hi guys, i update my iPhone 4s yesterday from 5.1.1 to 6, everytime i sent a new music from iTunes to iPhone, in the artists list, doens't show any artist i have, if i goes to the songs list, all my musics appears, btw in the artists no, i just want to know if this problem is with me only, or anyone more is facing the same problem.
    thanks

Same thing with my iPhone 5 music app. It kinda just "shuffles" really fast and not play anything. It goes through all the songs in all the albums really fast...but you can't hear anything.
I tried restarting the app AND the phone (several times) and I have checked that the shake thing is off.
What's happening?? I might have to go to the genius bar again *sigh*

  • Music App Problems iOS7

I am not having problems syncing music with iOS7, however I am having other issues.
For example, the app OFTEN crashes and freezes. This is a native app, should not be having this issue.
Also, why did they take away the feature where double tapping the home button brings up the music controls? Can I bring that back?

Double tap the home button and close out all the "cards" you have open by swiping them up. Make sure you don't have any apps left open. Tap the home button again when your done or just tap on the screen that's left (that can't be closed) now open the music app again it should not crash now. To pull up music controls slide from the very bottom of your screen upward this will bring control center where you can control your music player from any screen (actually better if you ask me) just have to get used to it. Hope that helps. If it doesn't I would consider doing a back up and restore by connecting your phone to iTunes and following the instructions under restore iPhone.
