Music app shows duplicate playlists

The music app on my wifes iphone 4 is showing duplicates for the recently played and recently downloaded playlists. also whenever a new playlist is created it shows twice on the list. some of theses cant be deleted. this is the only device that has this issue. is there any way to get rid of them?

You might try syncing all the music off her phone (by unchecking Sync Music on the Music tab of her iTunes sync settings, then syncing), then back on (recheck Sync Music, sync).  This should rebuild the music library and playlists on her phone, hopefully removing the duplicates.

  • My music app shows it's still playing a song but it's playing next song without finishing the last song.

Since I had my iPhone 5S (I now have a 6 plus), I've had a problem with my iPhone Music app showing that it's playing certain songs but towards the end, it jumps to the next track, but without finishing the one it was playing. The music bar doesn't change - it shows as if it was still playing the former song. It happens randomly with certain songs and it appears all my playlists have been affected by this. I've restored the phone and restored both an iCloud backup (to rule out software issues that iTunes is copying over into the phone) and an iTunes restore from backup. I've also deleted entire albums and redownloaded them right onto the phone, hitting the exact same snag. I've also restored the phone and started it as a new install and hit the exact same snag. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

OK. Since no one replied I restored my Nano 2. It still does this. Can anyone say theirs doesn't? Stop the music halfway or anyplace inside a track. Let the iPod rest for a few hours. Hit Play again. You see the song you were on and the place where you were. It is in Pause mode. Hit Play again to continue the song. At this point mine skips to the beginning of the next track. If I left click the wheel, it skips over the previous to the one before that.
This does not happen with my 80G Video iPod. It holds it's place and the music continues.
This is an 8G black Nano.

  • Music App showing artists that aren't really on my phone

I updated to IOS 7 (unfortunately) and now my music app lists a single track from several artists that I've never had on my phone or even had on my computer or cloud. When clicking on the song, it just gives me the option to download it from the cloud (which I don't even use and have never used or saved any music to).
Is this just Apples new bogus way to basically advertise within one of their own apps, or does anyone know how I can turn this off? I want to go into my music app and only see the songs which I loaded onto my phone, not a random mix of songs that apple recommend!!! I listen to rock, alternative, and folk music and it is showing Mandy Moore for Christs sake!!
How do I make it stop?!?!

I want as many songs as will safely fit on my phone without interfering with phone operation.   So I have a smart playlist that selects 6 GB of songs randomly - and once per month I delete all of the songs from a dumb playlist that is synced with my iPhone and copy these into it.    By hand.    On a device that is more powerful than mainframes I worked with in the 1960s.    I do the same thing with my iPad, only with a much bigger song list (and far more apps).    I haven't done that procedure you mention above in maybe a year, but in the past it only had limited success in removing "other".   Some "other" is used by apps.   I am too cheap to have my songs on the Cloud using up bandwidth every time I want to play them.
Still - when I delete an app that doesn't get installed due to space limitations - if it won't delete, that's a bug (a bug that has been around for years).   And I'd like to find an easier way to get around that bug.

  • Music app shows unknown artist for compilation albums

I just submitted a bug report to Apple, though I can't believe I am the only person with this issue.
Since iOS7 (I am currently on iOS7.0.4) I have noticed that the music app (along with many many other issues) will no longer display the artist for compilation albums that I have.  In iTunes the artist on the compilation is clearly defined but in iOS7 the Music app simply states "unknown artist".
Surely I am not the only one with this issue?

I am very annoyed by this bug too, I have  a lot of compilation albums and soundtracks with lots of differents artists, and my library is super organized in iTunes, with the “Album artist” field empty and the “Part of a compilation” checkbox enabled, and it shows the compilations as a “Various Artists” album.
But when I tried to download through iTunes Match in my iPhone 5C some few songs from those albums today, I found out that the music app has this bug that makes almost all of the compilation albums appear within this “UNKNOWN ARTIST” category under the artists tab.
It is very annoying and I hope Apple fixes this, cuz it is driving me crazy.

  • Contacts.app shows duplicate iCloud accounts

I have upgraded to OS X Yosemite and my Contacts app shows 4 duplicate iCloud contact sets.  When I check the preferences > accounts setting within the app, it shows 4 entries for iCloud, each for the same iCloud account.  When I try to remove any of them, it suggests I go over to Internet Accounts in System Preferences.  Within System Preferences there was only 1 iCloud account, not 4.  I removed that account from my computer yet the duplicates remain.  I can't get rid of them.  Please help!

I found a way to resolve this.
    1) Remove iCloud from your System Preferences (make sure all your iCloud content is backed up somewhere else first (via Time Machine or on another Mac)
    2) Shutdown
    3) Boot up
    4) Open up contacts app
    5) Open Preferences of Contacts and go to "Accounts"
    6) Select the rogue iCloud account and click the button in the bottom right "Edit account", this will open up system preferences and the rogue iCloud account will reappear there.  Hit the Minus button in the left sidebar to remove it.
    7) Quit System Preferences & quit Contacts app
    8) Shutdown & Boot up again
    9) Repeat steps 4-8 until all of the duplicate/rogue iCloud accounts are removed from the Contacts app.
    10) Once completely free of the duplicate/rogue iCloud accounts in Contacts app, re-enable iCloud in System Preferences.
I did this to remove 4 duplicates and now have one clean iCloud account in the Contacts app.

  • Why doesn't the music app show the album artwork?

When I open the music app, everything is fine, all except for some albums are missing thier artwork. The funny thing is, when you tap on the album, and it flips up and shows all the songs in that album, the album artwork shows up on the side, but when you go back to the albums, the artwork isn't there again. I know that the artwork isn't avaliable sometimes, but in this case, the artwork is there somewhere, because it shows up when you open the album. Is there some way I can get it back? Thanks

Sync with iTunes on your computer selecting to remove the affected albums from your iPad and then sync again selecting to move them back to the iPad.

  • Why won't the iOS 5 Music App show lyrics that I added to iTunes?

The iOS 5 Music App won't allow you to view lyrics.

I just did some poking around on other Apple forums here and found a recommendation for an app which actually does take the embedded lyrics from iTunes and display them on the iPad. It's been around since November, so I don't know why I never saw it before. I'm posting the information about it on several threads so that others are aware of it. It's called Lyrics View and it works well. The only quibbles I have with it are that it doesn't display the title, which the Music app used to do automatically, and when you switch out of the current song it takes you to Songs rather than Artists or Albums, so you have to change to Artists if you want to hear someone else.
It also displays the lyrics with the first lines all the way at the top of the screen, so they are sometimes hard to see behind the progress indicator, but you can make the indicator disappear with a click.
At least there's a workaround until Apple fixes this, assuming that they do.

  • Photos App Showing Duplicates

I’m seeing duplicate photos in IOS 8 on my iPhone 5S.  I’ve run Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto on my Mac and made sure no dups are present.  I sync from iTunes on my Mac running Mavericks for the last year of events from iPhoto.  I’m seeing duplicates on my iPhone in the Photos app under Collections for only the photos that are present in the Recently Added album.  Is this normal or is there a way to not show the duplicates?

    anyone?
by the way, after some restoring, the duplicates are at least gone. Now the problem is simply that recent photos are showing up in months past, and in several past events on my iphone. This is in the photos app as well as iphoto. In iPhoto, I can check the info of one of those photos and it shows a....June date for example... but it shows up in the photo order back in february or march.
If anyone has any thoughts on this it all it would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • Music stops playing but Music app still shows as playing

My wife's 4S keeps having problems while playing music. The sound will stop, but the Music app shows it is still playing. I don't really know what to even try to do to fix this. I may try restoring it. Might be a hardware issue. Any others have this happen? It is one of those issues that occurs at random so its hard to pin down. I may also have her try listening to Pandora for awhile and see if it does the same thing. Might be able to nail down if it is app related or hardware. Nevertheless, that would be one additional thing to tell Apple I tried.

The question is old, I'm not sure if the problem is the same as mine.
    Symptoms:
    I will be playing music
    The song stops playing
If I skip a number of songs I will sometimes get one that works
If I return to "Songs" and search for the song, it will show up with a "download from iCloud" symbol
If I stop playback, then tap the "Download from iCloud" symbol, the song will eventually start playing again
    Platform:
    iPhone 4
    iOS 7
    Apple's Music app
    Synced using iTunes
iCloud settings (Settings -> iCloud) only cover Mail, Contacts, Calendars, etc
I do NOT have "iTunes Match" turned on, nor am I subscribed to iTunes Match
I do have "Show All" turned on for Music and Videos (Settings -> iTunes and App Store)
I do have "Automatic Downloads" turned on for Music, Apps, Books (Settings -> iTunes and App Store)
I have "Use Cellular Data" turned off in Settings-> iTunes and App Store)
My Music app is signed in for Home Sharing
How I have worked around the problem for the meantime: when listening to music, turn the iPhone 4's "Airplane Mode" on. Sure, I can no longer make or receive phone calls, iMessages, SMS, browse the web, or anything else but at least my music doesn't spontaneously stop.
I have not had problems with the iPhone ceasing playback of music that I loaded onto the device from CDs (i.e.: the problem only occurs with songs that I've bought from the iTunes Music Store).
Having reviewed the settings, I've turned off "Automatic Downloads" in case that's what has caused my problem (i.e. iOS 7 is getting confused about the song being on my iPhone already so it deletes the song and then re-downloads it). This problem has only occurred once every few months, so it's going to be very difficult to verify that any fix or workaround actually works.

  • How do i change the settings on the music app so i don't view my purchase history

I have updated to ios 7 and now the music app shows every song i have purchased even though they are not downloaded. Is there a way to change the settings so only the downloaded song appere

my son had this problem.  I went to the apple store and they wiped out and restored the phone..  They said that was all they could do but that I should call our phone carrier and ask them.  I did.  They asked if in the top left side, next to battery power there was a icon of a half moon.  There was. They said to go in to settings and go to "Do not Disturb" and turn it off.  I did.....problem solved!!! Somehow "do not disturb" was turned on and that is what happens if it is!!
    I hope this helps.

  • Music App Stopped Rendering an Index

I have previously loaded part of my music collection onto my Passport's 8G SD card, without incident . Today as the card is nearly full I added additional music directly on the device thru a cut and paste process. The music is onboard the Passport, but the music app shows a "No Music" message in the app and a "Scanning Device Storage" progress bar at the top of the app is stuck at an early stage.
I can play the music from the device or SD card thru the selection of a track from the File Manager, but the Music app refuses to render any indexing with or without album art.
Is there anything I can do to rectify this problem? I have turned the Passport off and on without any resolution.

Here is a post from 1 1/2 years ago about the same issue from the Z10 boards BlackBerry-Z10/BB10-Music-Player-showing-files-that-dont-exist-and-cant-be-accessed
I had to backup data thru Link. Do a security wipe on the device. Remove the SD card and replace it with a new larger 32 G card.  Restore data from the image. The Music and Picture apps would not  re-index  and showed scanning upto 75% but no further for over 36 hours. I then removed the music media on device (bought from the 7 Digital site)  and then the Music, Picture and Adobe reader started working.
It appears to me that BB has semaphore lockups when copying media thru Link and have had it for at 1 1/2 years with BB10.
At least for now, things are functioning properly.

  • IPod freezing when scrolling down the music app?

I own a 3rd Generation iPod touch. I plugged it into my computer as usual, but when I decided to disconnect and start listening to the music I had recently put in, I realized that it wouldn't let me scroll very far. I wanted to listen to the Cream albums I had put in my iPod only to realize that I couldn't get past the A's in the list of artists, and if I attempted to go any farther down, it would freeze and crash the music app. My playlists were also wiped blank on my iPod even though they would appear just fine on iTunes when I'd plug in my iPod again.
I've tried resetting and restarting the iPod, closing the music app, and so on, but so far nothing seems to have worked. I don't want to end up having to restore my iPod, because I've a lot of music scattered across different computers and it would be a pain, to say the least, to get that and all the saved photos restored again. Is there anything else I can do?
    Thank you,
    Clyste

    No.

  • Duplicate playlists - Prune iTunes Folder?

My iTunes Folder contains material going back to my iTunes 3 Library created 4/28/03. A list of files/folders in the top level of the iTunes Folder is:
    Album Artwork (folder, 608.2 MB)
    Incomplete (folder, 25 KB)
iTunes Library Extras.idtb (file, 766 KB)
iTunes Library Genius.idtb (file, 66.8 MB)
    iTunes Library.itl (file, 5.8 MB)
    iTunes Library.xml (file, 18.1 MB)
    iTunes Music (folder, 287.24 GB)
iTunes Music Library.xml (file, 18.1 MB)
    Mobile Applications (folder, 4.76 GB)
Previous iTunes Libraries (folder, 113.8 MB)
When I import my music into Sonos, duplicate playlists are created. I presume this is because there are two library .xml files (iTunes Library.xml and iTunes Music Library.xml)
In addition, the iTunes Library.itl file is a potential source.
Can any of these files/folders be safely deleted?

Yes - playlists will have been sourced from each library, hence the potential for multiple versions.  Now all within iTunes Match you can simply adjust and enjoy a single aligned version - though worth noting that Smart Playlists and IOS devices are not a good mix with the current generation of iTunes Match.

  • With the iOS 7 update the alphabet scroll bar in the Music app disappeared. Is there anybody came across this problem or know how to get it back?

When syncing iPhone with my Mac via USB, it stuck on preparing to update when I started copying music, so I ejected it and plugged it in again. All the music was gone by then (sync manually is on). This time copying music worked.
Since then in the Music app's artists tab there is no alphabet scroll bar on the right; the separator letters are also gone.
Anybody experienced this? Is there a way to bring back the scroll bar?
    Thanks

    yoyawan wrote:
Not really. I has 49 songs and still had the scroll bar. I think the bar disappear when I erase the Songs that sync even when they are not in the playlist.
hi this is a dumb phone!
So just use the Albums or Artists option to find the album or artist, and select your desired song from that.  It's a lot faster than scrolling through a list of hundreds of songs or even using the scroll bar.
I've got about 500+ songs on my device, and I never use 'Songs' option.  It's not even on my bottom quick icons in the Music app anymore.
Playlists Artists Albums Genres More is what I have on my bottom quick icons now.
With only 49 songs, you don't really need a scroll bar.

  • Music app always shows playlist tab.

    iPad mini 3, latest iOS.
Every time I open Music app, it shows the last tab I used previous time for a moment, then automatically switches to playlist tab. Is that a bug or some feature? I don'have any playlists yet, so I don't need this tab for now.
    Thanks in advance!

The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great troubleshooting recommendations for initial troubleshooting of your issue:
    iOS: Understanding multitasking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4211
When performing Step 2, I would recommend closing all open apps. If restarting doesn't help with Step 3, try the recommended resetting as well:
If an app doesn't respond to your input, or doesn't perform as expected, do the following, testing after each step:
    Check for app updates.
    Force the app to close.
    Restart your device.
    Update your iOS device.
