Music attached to accounts that no longer exist
I just put my itunes library on my new computer after my old one died and now I can't put half of my songs on my IPOD because it is attached to an old account that no longer exists but it says I have to authorize that account in order to hear my songs that I purchased from Itunes... How can I get my music back that I purchased?????
You cannot transfer purchases from one account to another at all.
You will have to get the pasword to those accounts as the music belongs to those accounts.

How do I reset the password of an old login with an email account that no longer exists?
Years ago, I bought songs in the iTunes store with an old email account that no longer exists. I type my answers to the security questions, but the answers aren't working for some reason. So neither of the normal ways to reset a password. Is there a way to be able to figure out or change the password so that I can listen to this music once again?
If you can't get it reset it http://iforgot.apple.com
then you will need to contact Support in your country to try and get access to the account (they can also reset your questions) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699
If you do get access you can then change the primary email address on it e.g. via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes ot via http://appleid.apple.com -
How to authorize songs from ITunes account that no longer exists
I have 26 songs in my iTunes library that I cannot play on my iMac and cannot synch with my 2nd gen Nano because they are not authorized for this computer. These files were purchased under an account that no longer exists, on a Windows computer I no longer own. I've long ago forgotten the password for that account and the e-mail account associated with that itunes account no longer exists.
So, how do I authorize my current iMac (running OS X, iTunes 10) to play and synch these songs?
Any help greatly appreciated.Hello coastiechris,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!
About your only option at this point is to contact iTunes support on this one. If you cannot remember the password, there are no other options. Sorry.

Aperture wont start when I booted up this morning . There is an upgrade that it needs to install and I am being directed to log onto a hotmail account that does not exist to install it . I cant get any sense out of hotmail and the account has been deleted because I have never used it .
I need to get into my files asap but I am just going around in circles - please help - anyone ?APERTURE was bought via the Apple On Line Store .
I kew there is an update cause when I clicked on updates , there was an update that I needed cause Aperture was not running as it should ie . it would not load
I am running Mavericks OS.
My Apple ID is the same as my email account but I have discovered that I have two Apple ID accounts and I could not remember my password on the one that I used to download the original Aperture - I have since contacted Apple and they have merged the two so Ihave sorted it out that way .
When Aperture would not start , it wasn't asking me to log onto my email account, it was asking me for my Apple ID which was the same thing but it was my emergency ID and I could not remember the password . Being enturely thick where computers are concerned , I got very confused and remain confused because having bought a new MACBOOK AIR , I find it wont recognise my back up hard drive or my AIRPORT so I am not having a great time with MAC products to be honest - cant get my business back up and running after nearly three weeks so Apple and MAC are not my favourite words !
Anyway, I did get it sorted finally by ringing Apple but thanks for replying anyway - it turned out that Aperture was the very least of my problems when my hard drive failed installing Mavericks - wasnt Mavericks fault, my drives have to work hard and it just died . -
Just to clarify: I purchased some of my older music in iTunes with an account that got deleted. I cannot recover or use this old account. I transferred music from my old iTunes to a new computer and that new iTunes on the new computer is asking me to sign into the old account to authorize the music. So, is there another way to transfer this music to my new iTunes? I'm using a USB thumb drive to transfer the music. Also, music that was purchased with my current account tranfers just fine.

My original itunes account was set up with a work email, so when I left the company, I contacted support to have a new user name and transfer the library. Now each time I synch, it is trying to match up to the original purchase from the original account, rather than just with my current list. I can no longer access the first itunes account, because it doesn't exist anymore.
help!Hey there~ I had a similar experience, when the email I used to set up the account was hacked and subsequently shut down by Hotmail. If you contacted Support to change the name, but not the email address, you will need to do so again.
Also worth noting~ if, at any time, you synced your device to your work computer, you'll need to contact Support to deauthorize it and enable your current one.
Good luck! -
I purchased a bunch of music years ago with an old email account and password and then switched (before I understood about the apple account thing) and now the music will show up on my new computer but I can't authorize it to play because the old account is disabled and I can't remember my password!!!!!!
HELP!!!
Anyone else find a solution to this?
Am I the only idiot who has done this?

I have an old iPad2, and received a new iPad Air. When I set up the iPad Air, I started as a backup from the iPad2, instead of treating it as a new iPad setup. It also asked if I wanted to set up Find My iPhone and I said yes. Problem is that I also (previously) changed the primary email address on my iCloud account, but never changed the iCloud setup on my iPad. So now the iPad Air has iCloud pointing to the email address as the account name. I want to just delete this account and enter the new email, but Find My iPhone won't let me - it asks for my password first. Problem is, it won't accept the correct password because the primary email has changed.
If the old ID is yours, and if your current ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

How do I change my apple Id for iCloud without losing my information I already stored? I tried going into settings then ICloud but it would not let me change my apple id only my password.
If you renamed your iCloud ID and need to change it on your device, go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, then sign back in with the new ID. This deletes the account and your iCloud data from your device, but not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account, your iCloud data will reappear on your device when you sign back in.
To avoid losing photo stream photos, save them to your camera roll (if not already there) before deleting the account. To do this, open your my photo stream album, tap Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. -

I have an apple ID, I'm trying to use this to update and download apps etc. however, whenever I try this, it keeps asking me to use my old ID, which is attached to an email that no longer exists! I can't download or update anything! Help!
You can log out of the currently logged in account by taping on the id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) and you can then log back in.
If you updated your existing account with a new email address then that shoud 'refresh' it on it
If you created a new account then any content that you purchased/downloaded via the old account will remain tied to that old account, and only that old account can redownload its content and download updates to its apps. You should be able to update an account's email address via this page : http://appleid.apple.com -
Deauthorizing a computer that no longer exists
I physically lost an iMac when Hurricaine Katrina destroyed my house. It was the computer that had my iTunes library. I now have a new iTunes library on a Powerbook and have two iPods that are authorized. If I purchase an iPhone or a new iPod I will have the maxumum allowed devices (5) authorized for my iTunes account. How can I deauthorize the computer that no longer exists?
Mac OS X (10.4.10)As HT said, iPods and an iPhone will not count toward your five systems max. So it's probably not critical that you get the lost system deauthorized now. If for some reason you really feel you need to deauthorize that system now, though, you can try contacting the iTunes Music Store customer support department through the form at the bottom of their web page and explaining the problem to them. They might be willing to clear your authorizations for you.

Can't update Apps. Wants me to verify old Apple ID that no longer exists.
This is really annoying. . . I go to update my apps in my iPad & iPhone but when I go "Update All" it asks me to sign in with my old Apple ID (that email address no longer exists). Even if I put in the old password associated with that old ID it tells me I need to verify that Apple ID and that an email has been sent to that old email address (that no longer exists!). It's crazy as I have not used that address for years and two years ago I associated that old ID with my new email address, but I couldn't change my Apple ID to reflect my new email address so it just kept the old address but my receipts were being sent to the new email address. .. confusing, but it worked. Now I have a @me.com address and an Apple ID that utilises my @me.com account, but even when I sign out of iTunes/App Store and sign back in with my new Apple ID, I cannot update apps. . . I can purchase news apps, but I can't update anything.
I'd really like some help here. I have gone to the Apple ID webpage and tried to log in to the old address in order to delete it or whatever but when I do it says it is trying to verify that email address (which it can't as it no longer exists), so when I option to put in another email address for it to send the verification to (my @me.com account) it says "You cannot create an Apple ID using a MobileMe account. If this is your email address, it is also your Apple ID.". . . . . yes, I know that is my Apple ID. . . that;s the one I want to use. If anyone can tell me how to get rid of the old Apple ID/email address I'd be very grateful.karinac73 wrote:

I appreciate exactly where you're coming from. I've been fighting a similar battle for some six months now and I've finally given up. The problem is that, contrary to the semantics on the Apple ID management page, your up-to-date email address is not the primary address. The ID name is the primary address and what's alleged to be primary is actually secondary. I learned this the hard way when I was trying to fix an issue with a very old ID that did NOT have an email address as a name. I changed to to reflect the (old) address and I made matters worse and I can't go back!
In my case, I have a whole slew of free apps on the old ID and maybe US$40 or US$50 worth of paid apps. Little by little I'm deleting the free apps and obtaining them again with the current ID. When I finish that, I'll probably bite the bullet and pay again for the other apps.
