Music bought from iTMS skipping

So, I bought an album on the iTunes Music Store.
Two of the tracks suffer from skipping. I reported the error (there's even an option in the drop-down menu that says "This item sounds or looks bad"), and got the most useless customer service answer ever:
"Your request for a refund was carefully considered; however, according to our Terms of Sale, all purchases made on the iTunes Store are ineligible for refund. This policy matches our refund policies and provides protection for copyrighted materials."
So, I buy something from iTMS. Get a broken product. And is told "Hey, it's your problem, that we didn't deliver what you paid for".
I didn't ask for a refund. Actually, I would just like non-skipping versions of the tracks.
With this kind of customer service, iTMS will not be "eligible" for any more of my money.

A workaround is to burn the album to CD then rip it back to the computer. This removes the DRM without any noticeable loss in quality (if you use a decent bitrate).
In the UK I believe this is technically legal as long as it's for personal use, other countries may vary.
You may also want to ask the N900 owners on the meamo board if they know of a proper way to play DRM'd tracks on the N900.

  • Transferring Music Bought from Nokia Music Store u...

I have bought music from Nokia’s Music Store (specifically, on the Finnish ‘Nokia Musiikkikauppa’). I have downloaded the music files to my computer, and would like to transfer them to my phone, a Nokia N82. In order to do that, I have tried to use Nokia Music Manager (v2.0). I am able to find the songs I downloaded on my PC in the ‘My Collection’ section of Nokia Music Manager, and I can see my phone ‘N82’ in the list below. However, when I go to File -> Copy to Phone, the ‘Copy to Phone’ line is greyed-out, and I cannot use that function. This makes no sense to me. Can it really be that I cannot use ‘Nokia Music Manager’ to transfer music I bought at the ‘Nokia Music Store?’
I partially suspect that this is indeed the case. From the Nokia Music Store help section, I have read “You need to use [Windows Media Player] in order to be able to play, burn and transfer the DRM-protected WMA files from Nokia Music Store.” From this, it would seem that only Windows Media Player can be used to transfer Nokia Music Store music to Nokia phones. However, I simply find it beyond belief that Nokia’s own music manager software cannot be used to transfer music bought from Nokia’s own music store to Nokia’s own devices.
Can anyone shed light on this case?

i had this problem, try doing it through the windows media player. i cannot remember exactly how i did it in the end but i did burn the music to a disc and i'm wondering if i loaded it from the cd in the end?

  • Cannot play any music bought from iTunes

I can no longer play any of the music I bought from iTunes, although anything else is fine.  I get this message --
The required file was not found or has a permissions error. Correct this permissions problem and try again, or deauthorize this computer if the permissions cannot be changed.
I have changed the permissions on every single music file permissions to everybody read and write, so what is the problem?
    Any suggestions gratefully received.

    I'd try de-authorizing and re-authorizing you computer.

  • Music bought from iTunes a few years ago won't play on iPhone 4s

I've found that certain tracks that I bought from iTunes a few years back, all protected MPEG-4 audio files, won't play on my iPhone 4s. They play fine in iTunes on my computer, but when the track comes up on my iPhone it will simply run through the time of the song but no music will play. In some cases, I've had two versions of a song by the same name and it played the wrong version of the song with the correct name and album cover.
I've tried resetting the phone, as well as taking all the music off of it and resyncing it. Nothing seems to work. Will restoring the phone really help? This problem first arose after I updated my iPhone to 5.1.1.

I bought an iPhone 5 and could not add music to it. Same problem: grey songs. After hours searching forums and blogs I found this solution. Works for me! Now I manually add songs using iTunes and no problem. Hope it helps.
    1. Download and install iExplorer http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/
    2. Plug in device first, then open iExplorer
    3. Delete the iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control folder (you may want to copy this, just in case)
    4. Restart the iPhone / iPad
    5. Start iTunes. Not restore iPhone from back up, select New iPhone (don't worry, you will not lost apps or data on your iPhone doing this)
    6. Add music manually with iTunes

How can I download tracks I bought for my
gandaughter from my iTunes library onto her iPod
without erasing all her other music. She has her own
folder on my iMac G5. Can I transfer music from my
iTunes library into her iTunes library?
Apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere,
but If it has I can't find it.
Simplest (lowest hassle factor) method is to burn the tracks to CD (as mp3) and import or add them to her iTunes library.

  • Music bought from different iTunes stores not playing on iPod!

Hi! (Kind of a iTunes/iPod Touch problem..)
I've got an English account with an English bought iPod Touch 16GB. However i'm currently in Spain for a year so I created a Spanish account and bought some music from the Spanish iTunes store. Both accounts are authorised on this computer, and the songs I bought in Spain play on my computer fine, however they do not play on my iPod, there is just so sound (and the sound is on 'max') but the english bought/transferred songs play just fine.
    Any ideas?!
    Thanks everyone!

It may be an authorization issue. Both iTunes and the iPod need to be up-to-date.
Usually, you need to play at least a part of songs purchased from the iTMS within iTunes to authorize them. They won't copy to your iPod until you do this.
How to transfer Purchased Music from iTunes to your iPod
    iTMS Song and Computer Authorization
If you've played & authorized them in iTunes and they still skip, try this. De-authorize the computer in iTunes/Advanced menu, then re-authorize it. You re-authorize it by playing one of the songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store within iTunes. It should ask you for your Apple ID and password, and then the computer will be authorized again. Sync your iPod with iTunes, and those songs should play on the iPod once again.
Another common cause of this is not having the latest version of iTunes.
If you are using the latest version of iTunes (6.0.4), then you need to make sure your iPod software is up to date also. Get the iPod Updater software, install it, run it and update your iPod.
When you have done this, authorize your music in iTunes by playing a few seconds of it within iTunes, re-sync your iPod, and it should transfer by whatever synching method you choose.
If the above 'standard' fixes did not help, then it's a bigger problem that I can diagnose...

  • Music from CDs that is on my iPod won't transfer to my iTunes library on a different computer I used to use but all music bought from iTunes will? How do I fix this?

In the past to get music from CDs onto my iTunes library and onto my iPod was all easy and fine, as you would know if you have done such a thing before. I used to use a different laptop for all my music stuff to the desktop I have to use now as the other one is broken. It is an authorised computer on my iTunes, so my issue has got nothing to do with that. When I got this desktop (it is quite an old one, if that makes any difference), i had to download iTunes and put all my music into my library to back it up.
However, all music that I had bought physically that is currently on my iPod (CDs) WON'T transfer into my new library on the desktop, but all music that I had bought digitally (iTunes) WILL transfer.
This has led to about 300 missing songs in my library and means I can't transfer all of my music onto a different device (as I am trying to transfer all my music onto an iPhone 3).
I have tried countless things. All of that "File > Devices > Transfer purchases" stuff WILL. NOT. WORK. I tried copying the music into a file on the desktop and then adding said file into the library, but it won't let me paste any music.
If someone were to help me in transferring the music I so dearly love then I would be eternally grateful.
    Thank you

  • Can't download music bought from within iPhones iTunes?

I've been trying to buy some songs directly from iTunes on my iPhone (3GS, ios 5.1.1). I can buy it alright (and I get charged...), but the downloads never works. The progress bar fills up and then there is an error messages saying the song couldn't be downloaded - try again. I've tried several different songs and I've tried to reset the phone but nothing can make me download stuff that I've bought  Anyone got a clue?

It is no difference if I'm on wifi och cellular, same results. I get the music I've bought on the phone on my iMac's iTunes, however it does not sync. Or, rather on the iPhones panel in the computers iTunes I can see the song but they are gray and have the little sync symbol next to them.
I've tried to uncheck/check/sync the music but no music finds its way to the iPhone. Should this indicate that the problem lies with the phone and/or the music app on the phone? And in that case, is there a way to fix it without a total reinstall of the iPhone?

  • Problems playing music bought from music store

I bought a cd from the music store which was fine, I played it then I burned a cd fom it and then found I could not play the tunes anymore. All the titles are there but when I click on a title I get a message saying that the file cannot be found. I have searched but cannot find any trace of the file. Where is it?
    All other titles play fine

Is it in your recycle bin?
How exactly did you search for it?

  • DL Music of Music Video (from iTMS) to iPod Mini

Is there a way to transfer only the music/audio portion of a music video to the iPod Mini? For 99¢, another purchase from the iTMS ain't so bad, but if there is a method for this madness, I'll give it a try. And my teen daughter will really appreciate it!

Hey, I can help you with that. First of all, let me know what iTunes version do you have on your computer. There are two main ways for transfering songs and videos to an iDevice. One is syncing them on iTunes with your Library songs and vids and the other is to do this Manually. First step, plug in your device and open iTunes, in the summary page there are some options you can either check or leave unchecked. There is an option called Manually manage music and videos make sure thats unchecked, then just click on the music button check Sync music and try syncing again. Best of luck

  • Music imported from CD skips on Computer and IPod

After I have imported an album into iTunes, some of the songs skip while playing. It's as if it has a bad case of hiccups.
I have tried re-synching with the iPod; restoring the iPod to defaults; deleting iTunes and reloading.
The CD does not have any skips.
    Any suggestions??

I had problems importing audio CDs into iTunes. The imported tracks would skip during playback. To rule out faulty playback by iTunes, I used Windows Media player to playback the imported files (MP3, AIFF). The same skipping was there also. This meant the problem was in the way iTunes imported the tracks.
To rule out a problem with the CD/DVD ROM drive or CD media, I experimented with importing the audio CD tracks using Windows Media Player (creating WMA files). I found no skipping, no glitches during playback.
I read a few threads online that pointed towards system configuration, system load, and quality of the optical drive. But why would Windows Media Player work and iTunes not work on the same system? The problem still seemed to be with iTunes, not with my system.
Making matters worse, the problem was elusive because the skipping and glitches were slightly different from trial to trial, but the file size would be exactly the same each time. Also, the first track imported during a session seemed to have more errors than subsequent tracks. This left me suspicious of all imported tracks.
I disabled "Play songs while importing or converting" but that alone did not make a difference.
Finally I found something that worked. When I originally configured iTunes for CD importing, I selected "Use error correction" even though I had not experienced any prior problems. I had selected it as a precautionary measure. When I finally disabled error correction, the skipping went away. Just to check, I re-enabled error correction and the problem returned.
Edit > Preferences > Advanced Tab > Importing Tab
Option "Play songs while importing or converting"
Option "Use error correction when reading Audio CDs"
If the problem reoccurs, I will replace my CD/DVD ROM drive. One user said that worked.
I still have more testing to do. The first track imports fine. I still have to test importing an entire CD and listening for errors. But I am fairly confident that the problem is fixed.
