Music cleared out of iPod

This has happened before. How do i get music from Library back to Ipod? Also, how come it says that i have 1.06 GB used if it is cleared?

Try restoring your iPod, this will erase the hard drive, reload the software and put it back to default settings. Once the restore is complete, the new installation should reload your songs: Restoring iPod to Factory Settings

Can anyone assist me on HOW TO clear my ipod and basically start over with adding the songs?
    thanks.

Haven't tried it so don't know if this will work, but you could try creating a playlist with nothing in it. Then while the iPod is connected, go to your iTunes preferences under iPod and set the syncing to only sync the playlists you select rather than the whole library. Select your empty playlist and see if it dumps everything out of the iPod and just puts in the name of your empty playlist.

  • I can't make my ipod play through a docking station tge the music comes out tge ipod how do I solve this?

I can't seem to get my ipod to play music through a docking system the sound only comes from the ipod itself?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • "clearing out" iPod, handing down to wife

    Hello -
I'm about to purchase a 60GB iPod for myself and want to hand down my 20GB to my wife. She in turn is handing down her 4GB mini to our niece.
Anyway, how do I clear out the iPods so that the new users can start out fresh?
    Thanks a ton in advance.
    -Chris

    Hi,
If you want to clean out your iPod, you must do the following:
    1. Open iPod updater 2005-09-06 with your iPod plugged in(or some other ones, the date doesn't really matter)
    2. Click the "Restore Button"
    3. Follow the instructions on the screen
    4. Then your iPod should be restored to factory conditions, which means that everything will be reset to when you bought your iPod.
-its better to have the latest updater, just in case there is now updates available for your iPod.
if any problems arise, please post the problems
    hope this helps

  • MUSIC WIPED OUT!  HELP!

#1: I loaded 2400 songs on my IPOD and it jams up the whole IPOD....like it uses the whole 60Gigs....I thought this friggin thing was supposed to hold 15000 songs!!!!
#2: After I loaded my music onto the IPOD...I cleared my library in ITUNES....like..duh...don't want that jamming up my whole friggin hard drive!
#3: Next time I connected my IPOD...NOW READ CAREFULLY...I have it set to MANUAL UPDATE ONLY. So it should not be doing a **** thing with my IPOD when I connect it again...BUT IT DOES ANYWAY....and WHAM...it clears out my IPOD....I have no music on it...
So...is this for real? I mean..****...I like my Creative labs 40G better....I can load MORE music on it (same 2400 songs only take up about 10G on it)...I dont' lose my music every time I hook it up to it's program that has nothing in the library. I can move individual songs OFF my IPOD...can't with this...it's either an all or nothing piece of crud!
Help....am I crazy or does this thing suck?

That would depend on what your friggin import settings are. You're appear to be importing your music at a high bitrate. This makes larger friggin files.
"#2: After I loaded my music onto the IPOD...I cleared my library in ITUNES....like..duh...don't want that jamming up my whole friggin hard drive!"
You really should keep your frigging files backed up somewhere.

    Then you're not on manual transfer. Otherwise it wouldn't do this. Check this link;

Are you crazy? That's not really up to me to decide, but if you set the import and transfer settings up properly, I think you'll be very happy with the iPod. I know I am.

Try plugging your ipod into your computer. Then start up itunes. Let it load everything. Then click on your ipod and play a song from your ipod's library. Not your itunes library. If it plays the song, then go ahead and stop it, disconnect your ipod, and check the content once again.
I had the same problem and beleive it or not, this worked. I synced my ipod like 5 times before finding this answer on the web. Let me know if I need to clerify anything.

  • Is it possible to transfer music between iPhones and iPods with out using iTunes

Is it possible to transfer music between iPhones and iPods with out using iTunes

Nope.  Both require iTunes on a computer to sync music from.
Unless the iPod is an iPod Touch and the music was bought from iTunes.  In which case the Touch can simply go to the iTunes App, under Purchased  and download the purchased songs for free.

  • Ipod music greyed out?

I'm trying to add songs to my wife's ipod. (It looks like a nano, how do I tell which generation?)
A while back we swapped computers. But we'd synced and updated this laptop and ipod with no problem (same music on all.)
Now I've added new songs to the laptop itunes. The songs are mp4, not copy protected, and play fine on the laptop.
I connected the ipod and hit sync. Then when I open itunes>her ipod>music, all titles are greyed out, and the new artist or songs are not added (either there or when I eject the ipod & check it's own screen.)
    thanks

    Hello anotherjones,
This article should help you identify which iPod model your wife owns.
    [Identifying iPod models|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353]
As to the songs being greyed out, this is because the iPod is tied to another iTunes library on a seperate computer. The only way the songs wouldn't be grayed out and you could add songs to it from a second computer is if you are manually managing the music on your iPod. You can check to see if this option is enabled under the Summary tab for the iPod in iTunes.
Here are two helpful articles on manually managing music and syncing an iPod to multiple computers.
[Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1535]
    [Using iPod with multiple computers|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1202]
Otherwise, in order to sync it to this new library, you will have to restore the iPod via iTunes and start over from scratch with it.
    Hope this helps.

  • I need to find out how to transfer all the music from my old IPOD to my new IPOD.  Not all of my music was purchased on ITUNES.

I need to find out how to transfer all my music from my original IPOD nano to my new IPOD nano.   I want to keep both and not all of my music was purchased on ITUNES.  Please help!

Your music should be in your iTunes library, that is how it gets synced to the iPod. If that music is not present in the iTunes library, you will need to get a 3rd party software for the computer to get the music off the original iPod and then move it to the iTunes library to be able to sync it to the new iPod. You can see some additional information in this tip supplied by a fellow user. Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Why is the music list for my ipod classic grayed out in itunes?

why is the music list for my ipod classic grayed out in itunes?

I have a similar problem.  Originally, my iTunes advanced setting was set such that a shortcut to the song was copied into my music library so sometimes copying songs to my iPod resulted in them being grayed out.  I changed that setting some time ago and haven't had the problem until recently.
I don't know what to do.  here's the situation:
         1.  I have a song that is stored on my file system within My Documents. (it was purchased via Amazon)
         2.  Through iTunes I choose the File | Import file to library (or some text like that)
         3.  I navigate to the location of the song
         4.  I import it.
         5.  I can play the tune from the music library or from an internal PC playlist.
         6.  I then attempt to copy the song to my iPod.  When I do, it appears in the iPod's playlist grayed out.
I have done those steps countless times for dozens of songs without a problem.  Even others that I've purchased through Amazon.  What is so different this time?  I should mention that this problem NEVER happens if I buy the song through the iTunes store.  Only if I buy it from another source (e.g. Amazon).  WHY ???

  • Can't get music from library to iPod

Ok, I hope someone can help me out a little here. I tried to use my iPod as an external hard drive so that I could migrate my music from old CPU to new CPU. Somehow, I've managed to clear the music from my iPod (but not library). Now, I can't get my music back onto my iPod b/c it says there's insufficient memory.
    Any ideas?

Try restoring the iPod to factory settings.
This will completely erase the iPod hard drive.

    Hi Rodobaldo,
Let's try to clear up this issue for you, I'd like to clear out the music on your iPod first. You'll want to find the Sync Music Checkbox, uncheck it, then Apply or Sync:
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPod nano, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
If the above does not resolve your issue, see the following article:

  • The touch screen is not working when I am in the Music app of my iPod Touch.  How do I get it to begin working?  It just stopped today.

The touch screen is not working when I am in the Music app of my iPod Touch.  How do I get it to begin working?  It just stopped today.
Does anyone know what I can do?  I am unable to switch screens, and I can not see the track that is playing.  The only was I can switch between songs is to use the controls on my headphones.

Try the stamdard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.
