Music clip help needed

I am working in Premiere 11 and would like to add a music clip to my timeline. The music in the drag and drop box is 30 seconds long. How do I get a longer clip or can I stretch the clip on the timeline as in Premiere 12? I am just learning the program. I need help fast! Thanks.

lf you stretch the audio clip with Time Stretch beyond its recorded time, it will distort progressively as you drag the file out.
Where is this music clip coming from? If it is one of the SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 soundtracks, you can customize the duration in the SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 workspace so that is does not impact the music arrangement when music file is opened in the Timeline from the SmartSound/Sonicfire Pro 5 workspace.
The SmartSound feature can be found under the Music Tab at the bottom of the Premiere Elements 12 workspace. What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 12 running on?

Music store help needed please

Hi There,
Hope you can help me.....i just went to the music store to try to purchase something.....
I did a search for the song i wanted and usually a list of all the songs and artists etc come up.....
But today there is nothing at all coming up.....
I mean in the spaces/boxes below.....song name , time , Artist , Album , Price .......its just completely empty...........
Im connecting to the music store with no problem but it just isnt giving me no list of individual songs/album tracks so i can click on 'buy'.......ive never had this problem before.....can you tell me if its a fault with the music store please(if not im not sure what to do )

Well, after calling Apple tech. support, I did find out that 4.7.1 was the problem. The tech., who had 4.8 and had no problems viewing the title of the song, told me that I would have to upgrade. I decided to do so with much trepidation. I also had to upgrade to 10.3.9 and Quicktime 7.0.3 to take full advantage of iTunes 6. I also decided to upgrade the Safari browser. I downloaded each update separately via "Software Update" on my Mac. I restarted my Mac after each software download (even when I did not have to) and ran "Repair Permissions" after each restart. The good news is that iTunes 6 seems to be fine. I have all my music and when I go to the Music Store I can view any title that I choose and listen to the preview. I am not as fond of the search features in 6 (I thought the search features on 4.7.1 were more intuitive), but I'll get used to them.

Navigation/movie clip help needed

I have a portfolio page which has a list to the left and is
blank to the right. I'd like to have the user rollover the name in
the list and have an image fade in on the blank area to the right.
Then, on release I'd like them to go to that particular item's page
(swf). Can someone help me out with the actionscript needed for
this...I'm still working on transitioning from all timeline to
actionscript. Would a simple on hover script follwed by a on
release script work or will it get more complicated with x and y
coordinates?

You need to build each of the animations as separate movieclips that have their own timelines that they move across the stage in. You control them by giving them instance names and telling them to stop() or play() as desired. For example, one button could command...
mc1.stop();
mc2.play();
Where mc1 and mc2 are whatever instance names you assign.
So you can have the animations occupying one frame of your main timeline, and the 10 frames they animate in are within the individual movieclip of each.

Help Needed! I have created a 13 Min Slide Show in iPhoto (iMac Mavericks) but am having problem with adding music.

I created a 13 min Slide Show in iPhoto but have a question on adding music. I would like to add music clips that are set to change at the beginning of certian slides so that there is a varity of music during the show rather than a continuous theme clip. I know you can add multiple clips but can you pin them to change at a particular point in the program? Right now the music clips just run to their time limit and the next one starts. Isn't there a way to edit them the way it can be done in iMovie? Its frustrating to be able to create a nice slide show and not be able to manage the music background. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, you don't have that fine grained control of the soundtrack in iPhoto. It's designed for a quick job, not a complex one.
Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie is on every Mac sold.
Others, in order of price:

FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
Final Cut Pro X $299
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs. However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Pro X is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

Help needed after moving music - has not been answered recently!

I'm not great with computers. I moved my "my music" folder to an external hard drive (just cut and paste... oops) and now itunes won't open because it can't find the itunes folder. It won't let me uninstall or reinstall it. Help needed!

If I understand correctly, you moved your My Music folder on to an extrenal drive and that this folder contained your iTunes folder. Now Itunes won't open. I hope you have not damaged anything by unsuccessfully trying to uninstall iTunes, if so we will have to fix that.
If you are lucky and I have understood you correctly, start iTunes with the shift key held down. You should be prompted to choose or create a library. Select choose and navigate to your iTunes folder on the external drive. You should find a file called iTunes Library.itl - choose that.

load the current version of I tunes on the laptop and sync the pod. Then sync the phone - you can select all or as much of the music you want to.
Also - if the music on the pod was purchased from the itune store in the first place, you should be able to redownload it to the phone for free, as long as you are using the same apple id that it was bought with.

Have you guys been able to activate your iphone yet? I bought an iphone 4s from eBay and it worked fine, but the previous user had left some data on it, so last night I used the "erased all content and settings" to restore it to factory setting so I can start fresh and restore my backup. But now I'm stuck at the activation screen (I get the same "the activation server is temporarily unavailable") and can't get it to activate, even if I use my old deactivated AT&T sim card (I'm on straighttalk now).
I might try activating it with an active AT&T sim card from my fiancee's phone when she gets home, so I'll let you know how that works outs.
If it's true that the server is down; anyone know when it will be back up again? Thanks in advance.

Can I control fades with connected music clips?

Hi, FCP X newbie here.
I would like join two music clips into a Connected Storyline, while ALSO being able to control the fades myself (presumably by the use of handles) but I can't find a way. It seems the only choices I have are to either 1.) Connect the clips, then add a Crossfade Transition, and chose from the 4 preset Fade types (Level, S, +/- 3db) for the ingoing and outgoing clips, OR 2.) keep the audio clips disconnected but overlapping, and adjust the handles myself.
The reason I want the audio clips connected with each other and not just attached to the Primary Storyline is that I want to create a solid music bed (consisting of various changing music cues) and be able to change video on top of it at will, without having to worry about audio clips accidentally being displaced when I move change a shot it is connected to. (Complications of the magnetic timeline, a bit frustrating to my track-based mindset.)   The reason I want to control the fades myself is that, in this case, the incoming music piece needs to start with the level full up (and also has precious little handle time), so all of the generic Fade types dampen the volume too much when applied.
Is what I want to do possible, or is there a solid workaround? Any help is much appreciated.

Ah, that does it. I did try to make a Compound Clip before but maybe the problem was I was trying to marry the incoming clip with an outgoing piece of a Connected Storyline but without selecting the full storyline.   I tried it selecting the full storyline this time, success.
The one small misgiving I have about this solution it's harder to tell visually from the waveform where the music cues change, losing visual breaks and titles.   Markers can help to differentiate the breaks though.

Okay so i went out and I bought a yamaha 630BL reciever, a digital coaxial s/pdif, and a 3.5mm phono plug to fit perfectly to my XFI Extreme Music
-The audio plays fine and reports as a PCM stream when I play it normally, but I can't get dolby digital or DTS to enable for some reason eventhough I bought the DDL & DTS Connect Pack for $4.72
When I click dolby digital li've in DDL it jumps back up to off and has this [The operation was unsuccessful. Please try again or reinstall the application].

I also have a question on 5. and Vista 64
-When I game I normally use headphones in game mode or 2. with my headphones, the reason for this is if I set it on 5. I get sounds coming out of all of the wrong channels.
Now when I watch movies or listen to music I switch to 5. sound in entertainment mode, but to make this work properly I have to open CMSS-3D. I then change it from xpand to stereo and put the slider at even center for 50%. If I use the default xpand mode the audio is way off coming out of all of the wrong channels.
How do I make 5. render properly on vista

We ended up getting iTunes cleanly uninstalled and were able to re-install without issue. All is now mostly well.

Help needed please - both my hubby and I have iphone 4s - I've just gone to download music onto my phone and have somehow managed to download all his stuff onto my phone and lost all of mine Is there anyway I can get my info back and delete his without restoring to back to factory settings (this was the first time I connected mine to the laptop to download and I'm not very good with the computer as you can see from my problem !) xx

(Make sure the Music (top left) library is selected before beginning this.)
If you have bad song links in your library, hilite them and hit the delete button. Then locate the folder(s) where your music is located and drag and drop into the large library window in iTunes ( where your tracks show up). This will force the tunes into iTunes. Before you start, check your preferences in iTunes specifically under the"Advanced" tab, general settings. I prefer that the 1st 2 boxes are unchecked. (Keep iTunes Music folder organized & Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library). They are designed to let iTunes manage your library. I prefer to manage it myself. Suit yourself. If there is a way for iTunes to restore broken links other than locating one song at a time I haven't found it yet. (I wish Apple would fix this, as I have used that feature in other apps.) This is the way I do it and I have approx. 25,000 songs and podcasts and videos at present. Hope this helps.

How do I add multiple background music clips to iMovie

Trying to add multiple background music to iPhoto clips to make a vacation iMovie but when I add a music clip, it shoots right to beginning rather than stopping at the end of last clip added. I've pinned my background music to the first clips but want to add more background music but can't make it stop at the right photo clip. How do I place new background music at the right clip?

I don't use iPhoto (but read your post since it mentioned iMovie which I do use) - anyway, you're not talking about the application iMovie - you're talking about a movie.
So I am guessing, but it may work the same as it would with iMovie:
Can you select the audo clip and simply drag it to the spot you want it to start? Or, mocw the playhead to the spot where you want it to start then import it?
FYI, it would be helpful to indicate which Mac OS version you are running - it is not iOS 6 which is for iDevices.

I cannot synch movies to my iPad. This has worked for me in the past. I keep getting an error message that I am not connected to the internet. Yet, I certainly am. How else could I post this message. I can listen to music clips from the iTunes store, fetch my email, and read current newspapers on the internet. I restarted both my iMac and my Ipad and that didnot help.

I completely understand what is happening. I know that you are connected to the Internet. I made the suggestion because I have seen it work in similar circumstances. The Apple iTunes servers can be a bit fussy about things and sometimes rebooting the router clears up this miscommunication between iTunes and your network.
Have you tried signing into your account and then try to sync again. Go to Store>View Account. You will have to enter your password. Then try to sync again. Or try signing out completely in Store>Sign out. Quit iTunes, sign in again and then try to sync again.
Sometimes refreshing settings will help clear up weird problems.

Why is the music clip marked with a yellow warning sign?

While browsing my project library today, I noticed that every music clip associated with a particular project is marked with a yellow "warning" triangle (with an exclamation point in the center). What's worse, the music won't play.
I had previously uploaded this video to YouTube, where it now plays just fine. But I'm still puzzled by the warning sign, and by the fact that the music won't play when I take a look at it in my Project Library.
I've never had a warning sign like this emerge in connection with anything else I've put together with iMovie. Why is it there, and why are the music clips inoperative? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a question. I had that little warning sign as well but in the clip I had just imported into the event library... I don't understand because when I went to the folder in which iMovie copies the clips I import, it was right there. Same name, same size, same runtime... and it played perfectly; and I could preview the clip in iMovie. But the thumbnail was gray with that little sign. Also, I couldn't delete the clip from my library.
I closed iMovie, started it again... the clip is in the library, no more gray thumbnail and little yellow sign.
How is that possible ?!
