Music collection lost on iPad third generation after updating to iOS 8.1.1

I updated my third generation iPad to iOS 8.1.1 recently. This deleted my entire music collection from the iPad except for the songs i had purchased on iTunes. I had over 16 GB of music & i use manually manage music feature. I have never changed the Manually Manage setting.
iTunes on the iMac still shows all the music listed with 16 GB used for audio but the iPad is empty. I tried syncing the iPad several times but the music is never copied to the iPad.
This was a precious music collection! How do i get it back without manually selecting and copying songs from the iMac?
I believe that it can be done somehow as the iTunes is still listing all of the music.

So i lose my old collection while doing that!
its 16 GB of highly selected music.. will take for ever to make a similar selected collection all over again!
I have never directly synced to a playlist or my library... i have always used the manually manage feature.

  • Ipad constantly crashing after updating to iOS 8.1.3.

ipad constantly crashing after updating to iOS 8.1.3. I can't restore it to factory settings. I can't even turn it off. It just keeps crashing and trying to reboot etc.  Sometimes I see the black screen with the white apple and sometimes the screen is white.  I saw it say "Hello" once, but then it crashed again.  While rebooting, it does sync up with itunes briefly and is recognized.  When I try to restore, it says I need to turn off "find my iphone" but I can't access any settings within the ipad to do that.  Also, it tells me I need to enter my passcode to continue, but I can't do that either since the ipad is constantly in crash mode.

  • HELP!! Lost some of my contacts after update to iOS 7.1.2

I lost most of my contacts after updating to iOS 7.1.2 last night!  I can't see the contact in my contact list but when I text/call they are there...what is going on and how do I restore this to see all contacts?

It never happened to me, but try to Reset the iPhone by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears and ignore the red slider.

  • Lost music on 4th gen for third time after updating iOS 6.0.1/iTunes?

    Hello,
I have a 4th gen Touch that has worked perfectly until I updated to iOS 6.01 and iTunes 11.0.1 (at the same time, if that helps.)
Not 24 hours after doing so, all the music on my Touch was mysteriously gone. My apps, contacts, etc. were still fine. I wrote this off as a fluke and put everything back on. About a day and a half later, it did it again. After this, I read a thread or two and decided to restore the factory settings on the iPod to get rid of whatever this was.
That worked for a week. Yesterday, all of my music was mysteriously gone again. I'm at the last nerve with this, seeing as my iPod was perfectly fine before this.
The first time it deleted, all of my music was automatically synced. I store most of my music on an external hard drive--which is always attached, though--so I thought this could have been the issue the first time. The second and third times the music was deleted, I was manually adding music.
Does anyone have any idea what to do? Has this been an issue for anyone else? Thanks.

Only three times?  You are lucky.  I had this happen about 20 times since the IOS update.
When you look at your Ipod under "devices" in the sidebar, how much music is Itunes tryin to crowbar onto your device?  Check out my screen cap to illustrate.
Do you lose all your playlists and podcasts on the ipod, too?
You can try unchecking music when you sync your ipod, then re checking and syncing again, but it only seems to be a band aid, and only sometimes.
I wish I could be more helpful, but I've posted several times with no results.

  • Charging problem on iPod touch 4th generation after updating to iOS 5.1.1

I updated my iOS to 5.1.1 yesterday when I synced some new music onto my iPod touch 4th gen. It worked fine, and charged fine yesterda after the update. I had it plugged in charging until I left, I used it and it die over night. When I went to charge it, it kept coming up with "Charging is not supported with this acsessory" wether it was in the wall, or plugged into my computer. As most windows users will know, when you plug yout iPod into the USb port of the computer it comes up with the Scanner and Camera wizzard. I generally close this, but with my curiosity, I let it stay open (without running the wizzard) and now my iPod is charging from ym computer, as long as this is open. Why does the scanner and camera wizzard need to be open for it to charge? Is there a fix for this? I've seen symillar problems on other iOS devices after upgradign to 5.1.1, so could this problem be because of the iOS update?
Thanks in advance, Alex "Twitch" Brent

  • HT201210 cant restore my ipad from itunes after updating latest ios.  message tells me to turn off 'find my ipad' from my ipad, but I can't because the set up is not complete without the restore.  What do I do?

I don't know if I'm repeating my question. I can't restore my ipad after updating to latest ios. The battery went low, I had to eject and plug in to charge.  The set up will not complete without resoring from icloud or itunes (i backed up to computer using itunes) or setting up the ipad as a New ipad.  I want to restore all my stuff but the message I get in itune says "Find my ipad must be turned off before 'ipad' can be restored".  Go to icloud settings on your ipad and turn off Find My iPad before restoring your iPad.".  I cant' get to this setting on my ipad because the set up is not complete!!!  I'm stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm afraid if I set up the ipad as new it will backup the new ipad over my previous backup and then I will loose all my photos, songs, aps, notes,......

I have the same problem and we can't simply just restore from the backup. It says that I have to set up my iPad through restoring. So I tried restoring it in iTunes but it won't restore until I have to turn off this **** "Find My iPad" crap but I couldn't because the set up's not complete and it won't let me go to my settings unless I set it up. So basically it's asking me to go to my settings but before I could go to it I have to restore, and in order to restore I have to go to settings. Get where I'm at?
Please, Apple Tech people! Help this 14 year old girl on her period, PMS-ing, thinking about how I want  to strangle however made this mistake of a set up, updating her iPad in 3 am in the morning cursing the day she even thought of updating. I seriously need to get out of this loophole. I don't want to use my other iPad that only has 16GB. I just wanted the pretty graphics I saw in my parent's iPad airs, I don't ask for anything more :''''(

  • Has anyone else lost their personal hotspot option after updating to iOS 6.1?

I updated to the new iOS last night, and when I went to use my AT&T personal hotspot today, I noticed that it's missing from my settings menu.  Any tips on how to get it back?  I called AT&T and they told me that everything is fine on their end and therefore it must be an Apple issue.  :-(
    -Alison

See if this helps you get them back and lets you add them again.
Quit the Safari app completely and reboot the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Cannot backup iPad 1 (Original) after updating to iOS 5.1.1

    Hello,
I have an iPad 1 (Original), WiFi only, 32 gb. I just upgraded to iOS 5.1.1 from iOS 4.2.1. It all went well (data was restored properly, apps were just as i had left them etc) up until me having to take a backup. All that iTunes says is 'iTunes could not back up the iPad because an error occurred'
    I have:
    Windows 7 Ultimate OS
    iTunes version 11.0.1.12
    I have so far attempted:
    Resetting iPad to factory settings
    Deleting old backups from iTunes-Edit-Preference-Devices
    Resetting sync history from iTunes-Edit-Preference-Devices
All of this to no avail. Then, on restarting iTunes, I weirdly get a phantom backup with a date from 2001 (5:30 am) and serial number as 00000000.
Any help on this would be most appreciated.
    Thank you!

i have the same problem! Did you find a fix? please help.

I do not want to restore this because this will delete my stored data (precious photos etc).
Is there anyway I can fix my iPad without losing my data?
