Music control from apple tv to pc

I can get my pc to play music to my apple tv but the apple tv will not get music from my pc. Is this a firewall problem or a router config problem

I run windows 7 and open my i tunes on my desktop. I start my 3rd gen apple tv and attempt to control my i tunes library music from the apple tv. it does not show my library, or if it does, will not open the content.All are up to date and I can play content directly TO my desktop or my i phone to the apple tv. Just not the opposite direction.

We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

Cannot Shuffle Music Playlist from Apple TV

When I go into my homeshare libray from the apple TV, then go into Music->Music Playlist and then choose any of my playlists that my music videos are in, I can play my music videos one by one. There is always the option to shuffle at the top, however when I pick "Shuffle" it displays a yellow triangle with exclamation mark in it and says "no content was found." Any idea why I cannot shuffle a playlists of music videos from the apple TV?

I'm having the same issue. For some playlists, I can shuffle, but others, it won't and I get that "No content was found". I haven't figured it out yet. Has anyone else?

My computer crashed and I had to reboot it. When I reinstalled itunes my music is not there. Am I able to get my music back from apple?

Brightness control from Apple keyboard

I have a LG 23'' Flatron W2361V and I can not control the brightness from the keyboard. Is this normal for a none Apple display or am I missing something? This is my first Mac Pro and I have only used Macbook Pro's and iMac's which have screens of course. The volume key works and other keys as well. Need help.

Apple displays allow control of the backlight brightness via USB. Non-Apple displays don't, so there is no way for the computer to change the backlight brightness. There is software to reduce brightness by changing the output from the computer, but this will reduce the number of brightness and color steps available, and since the backlight brightness is unchanged, will use more power.

For some reason is all my music gone from iTunes, but I do still have the songs on my iPod Touch... So my problem is that I don't know how to import my files from iPod Touch back to iTunes.

I should export my music to another program, because I do also have this MP4, which needs some files. Well, I did that and it seems like Windows Media Player couldn't open the files, but then I go back to iTunes and I see all my files are gone. Nothing is left, and now I can't syncronize files to my iPod Touch without deleting all the existing files. So now the only thing I want to know, if it's possible, is how to import music (not from Apple Store) from my iPod Touch to iTunes?

You can use one of the third-party programs discussed here to transfer non-iTunes purchased music to a computer.

Music Gone from 1st Gen Apple TV after iTunes upgrade to 10.1.1 (4)

I use a 1st Gen Apple TV to store and play all my music throughout my home. It's perfect for that because I don't have to stream from my computer (as with 2nd Gen Apple TV) and can control the music from all over the house from the Remote App on my iPad and iPhone. After I upgraded to iTunes 10.1.1 this week I synced my Apple TV with my computer to add some new music to it from iTunes. All of my music promptly disappeared from my Apple TV. It may have still been there, but didn't show in iTunes on my computer or on my iPad or iPhone remote apps.
My first thought was that I might have to do a restore on the Apple TV and then re-sync with my computer's iTunes. Before doing that, however, I simply re-synced all of my music to the Apple TV from my computer. It worked and now all of the music is available again.

let it do it's restart and clear synced data
set it up to link with the same computer once more
and let it sync the data once more
haven't have issues since
but described the solution to many in this forum who had the same issue

You can, but you will have to create a new version of the songs that you download from the store (they will be in .m4a format from the store which your MP3 player won't support).
After downloading a song, go into iTunes > Preferences (command-comma) and on the General tab click the 'Import Settings' button and on the next screen change the 'import using' to 'MP3 encoder' (or one of the other options if your MP3 player supports it). To create a MP3 version of your downloaded song(s), select/highlight them in the Music part of your iTunes library, control-click, and on the popup select 'create MP3 version' (the 'MP3' will change depending upon what you've selected as the type on 'import settings' options).

You should then be able to copy the music to your MP3 player in the same way as you normally do.

You cannot. The remote app is exclusively for remotely controlling an apple tv for playback of a library on your computer. If you want to play your computer's music on your iPhone you just use home sharing on both devices and play the music in the Music app on your phone, not using the Remote app on your phone.

Not really sur easy you would be having that problem. Mine works. You might try RESET DEVICE
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost). Then try again and see if it makes a difference

unless i'm missing something, i think you got mixed up, this is easy google for walk throughs
i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups

I moved my iTunes library to my external hard drive some time ago and I followed the directions listed here on the apple support page. It did copy my library and now is on my hard drive... I can open iTunes and use it to sync all of my devices but I would like to play my music... I can see all of my music files but can not play them if I click on an album or song it says the following: "(file name) could not be used because the original file cannot be found. Would you like to locate it?" I click locate but do not know where to go from there? I need a way to access all files and not to hunt down one at a time on my hard drive... I am pretty sure I deleted the original library to make space on my internal drive which was the reason for moving it. I have tried and tried to fix it and do not have a lot of time to do so with a one and two year old at my house who do not like it whenI sit down at my computer. What to do??? See Make a split library portable. Move all of the bits of the library together in the the correct shape and it should work. Or undo exactly what you did and then start over.
If you're a former Windows user don't try merging two folders together that have the same name by dropping one into the same folders as the other, as that goes badly on a Mac.

All apple devices are recognised by the PC in itunes but cannot get the music to load onto any of the devices from my itunes library. there is an error message with 100+ errors as songs are not found. I have tried alll sorts of things but at a loss for how to get music onto my devices. I want to buy some more songs but reluctant to because not sure if I can listen to them on my devices! The PC is too difficult to listen to songs on (for obvious reasons).

No.
One of you create a new AppleID and one use the existing AppleID.
But you can still use the items in each iTunes library.
Create separate computer logins for each of you.
This will give you each your own data. Contacts, calendars, photos, etc. (and your own iTunes library).
