  • Upgraded to ios5 and my calendar was wiped clean. Is it gone for good?

upgraded to ios5 and my calendar was wiped clean. Is it gone for good?

My phone says it's showing All Calendars.  This morning, other people said to disable and then re-enable the iCloud Calendar, which has somehow allowed about 50% of my Calendar entries to reappear, but half are still missing.  This is almost more frustrating because if half were saved when it ran the backup, where are the rest?
All of my calendar entries were entered directly into my iPhone, either manually from the Calendar app, or by getting into it from a Yahoo Email that had an Event I needed to save.  I guess I'll just have to break out the paper calendar and try to re-enter everything that's missing.
The iTunes version I'm running now seems to be the most current one since the constant upgrades are one of the reasons I stay out of iTunes usually.

my ipod 4g got wet and wont turn on is it gone for good? please help

    If it is dry. See:

    then:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Is my iPod gone for good?

I was canoeing with my dad and his girlfriend on Friday, and my iPod (a late 2006 Apple refurb) fell into the 3 ft deep water. We decided it was dead, so we went and had a good time for an hour. When we came in, my dad went in the water and retrieved it. once I let it dry, it flashed the apple logo, the sad iPod face with the iPod support web address, and a low battery symbol.
I tried connecting it to my cousins' computer and iPod dock. The computer recognized the iPod as a "malfunctioning USB device", and the dock would not recognize it at all. Now, I am back with my mom, and it is flashing the "very low battery, please wait" and a different low battery symbol extremely fast, even though it has been hooked up to my computer for nearly 45 minutes, and the computer still does not even recognize it is hooked up. It does not appear to be charging at all. Is my iPod gone for good, or can I still save it?

While the circuit board can probably be dried out and used again and maybe the battery might charge normally after the circuit board is completely dry, I would bet that the hard drive is probably shot since it probably has water inside it and can not easily be dried out.

  • I recorded a video using the camera but deleted it by accident, has it gone for good?

I recorded a video on my iPad using the camera and deleted it by accident, have I lost it for good?

Unless your last back up to your computer was after it was taken and before it was deleted then yes, it's gone - there is no trashcan or undelete facility on the iPad. If it was on the iPad when you last backed up then you could try restoring the iPad to the backup and see if that puts it back (you'll need to restore the whole iPad, you can't just restore an individual app)

  • HT201317 Once I delete a picture from my photo stream, on my IPhone 4S, is it gone forever? If not how to I delete it for good?

I want to delete pictures from my PC, device, everything for good. I don't want 1,000 embrassing pictures of me out there!

Delete them from the my photo stream album, as well as your camera roll on your phone.  Then delete them from your computer if you imported it to your computer from the camera roll.  At that point, they would only be contained in any device backup made while the photos were still in your camera roll, but could only be accessed again by restoring an iOS device to the entire backup.  If you're still concerned, delete the backup(s) as well.

  • Deleting Malware for good?

Alright, I'm another victim of that nasty malware that has been going around preventing many hapless itunes users from enjoying music. I toyed around with msconfig and discovered a few tricky starup items that definately have interfered with something. These being:
    oxhh.exe
    pqwiiqp.exe
I also found some zango and wo.exe crap there which I subsequently unchecked. When I uncheck these items from the startup list and restart, I'm able to open up my iTunes normally, however after I restart again, or after awhile of inactivity, the startup items come back AGAIN.
My question, how do I rid my computer of these malware guys for good?
Thanks for any help in advance,

    Windows XP
    Windows XP

This is a "reprint" from a Windows newsletter I receive. They continually review the software out there. I use Webroot's SpySweeper, SptBot S&D, and the MS AntiSpyware packages. I have not had any issue with malware for the past year.
"Webroot Spy Sweeper 4.5 (photo at left) has overtaken the previous antispyware champion, Sunbelt Software's CounterSpy, in the latest published torture tests by PC Magazine.
PC World also gave its highest test score to Spy Sweeper's prior release, version 4.0, in the magazine's November 2005 issue.
As a result, I'm replacing CounterSpy with Spy Sweeper in the Security Baseline as today's highest-rated antispyware program.
PC Magazine gives Spy Sweeper a rating of 4.5 out of a possible 5.0 in its Dec. 27, 2005, issue. The other tested products, which are offered by Tenebril Inc., Sunbelt Software Inc., and Zone Labs LLC, came out as follows:
    • Webroot Spy Sweeper 4.5 (Score: 4.5/5.0).
    • Tenebril SpyCatcher 2006 (3.0).
    • Sunbelt Software CounterSpy 1.5 (2.5).
    • Zone Labs ZoneAlarm Anti-Spyware (2.5).
The author of the review, Neil Rubenking, says Spy Sweeper is now able to remove from an infected PC every one of the 11 spyware programs and 4 keyloggers the application was put up against — more than any other contender. The application also prevents the installation on a clean machine of every piece of malware tested, except for one keylogger that was included in the suite, according to Rubenking.
The review found that ZoneAlarm's Anti-Spyware program fails to remove some malware used in the tests and is also unable to block new installations of 2 of the 11 threats. For this reason, I continue to recommend that readers who use the otherwise-excellent ZoneAlarm Security Suite 6.0 (described below) turn off its real-time antispyware scanning. Instead, use a separate antispyware program for real-time protection. It's fine to allow two different programs, however, to periodically scan a hard disk for malware at different times of day."

  • OKR partition gone for good?

Ok I lost the partition that had the okr files. I was looking at putting win 7 with Xp home duel o/s.
Is there a way to make another or have I lost it for good?
It is a nice way to repair the o/s if any thing was haywire.
    Cheers

Just download all the drivers needed for XP and keep them safe just in case you decide to go back from Win 7. This is what i did.

  • When text messages are deleted are they gone for good?

My daughter accidentally deleted messages that I need for court. Is there any way to retrieve them after she cleared my conversation ?

The only way to possibly retreive them would be a restore from backup created after the messages were received but prior to them being deleted.
If you do not regularly sync and backup the device, they are gone.

  • My recent items list appears again after restart. How do I delete it for good?

When I turn on the computer, the recent items list still displays the documents and applications I worked with a few days ago. I delete it, and after restarting the computer, it displays the same list again (not a new list, but the exact same items over and over again).  Any tips?

Select the iPod shuffle in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES).  If this is a current 4th (or 3rd) gen iPod shuffle, you should be able to see the contents of the shuffle by type, intented under the shuffle's name (still in the sidebar).  Select Music or Audiobooks (not sure where those items from the library will be listed).  The items will be listed to the right, for each category.  Find the items, select, and delete.
It's on page 20 of the manual
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/iPod_shuffle_4thgen_User_Guide.pdf
NOTE:  If this is an 1st or 2nd gen iPod shuffle, select the iPod shuffle in the iTunes sidebar (under DEVICES).  Over to the right, go to the Contents tab, where the items are listed.  Select and delete them from this list.
I find it more convenient to make a playlist in iTunes with things I want to put on the shuffle.  I then set up automatic syncing (or use autofill) to have iTunes load the shuffle from that playlist, automatically.

  • How to delete photos for good...

Apple has to have the worst phone I've ever had the misfortune to use not because of the phone, the phone itself is a pretty solid device but because of apple lacking any sort of ingenuity or technical finesse in their software design other then turning everything into a marketing kiosk
First time having and iphone and will be the last time
Down to brass tax, before i start some god awful rant about craptunes
Essentially i'm trying to add more music to my phone but i don't have enough space, WHY? because apparently the phone has withheld 1100 photos from existence. See when i use the photo browser on my phone we all know how we cant just look at a feed of our photos anymore instead the dullards at apple decided you can only have a 350 cap on most recent shots and its impossible to view any previous shots without delving into the god awful time consuming collections feature. There's about 5 maybe 600 photos on my phone, i'm not a big picture taker but iTunes says there's about 1100 at 1.75gb how can this be?
I can't even see all the photos on my phone let alone see them if i tried to back my phone up...
Even looking at my photos in collection i can confirm there isn't even that many there, I've had the phone for half a year for pete sake
I can't get over how unintelligent a multi-billion dollar company can be, my apologies but bear with me my non-apple associates!
So what do i do? I know i could clear up more space by delete photos i don't need but i cant even see them, **** i cant even back up photos in a clean jpeg format without plundering a handful of oddly named folders on the windows file explorer and even then i wouldn't have my space back.
How do i delete or even access this hidden cache of said "Phantom" photos
and on a side note why the **** is "other" so large about 2gb for me as well as documents and data yet again another mass of files i have zero control over growing in size daily
    Thanks a ****'** lot crapple.
Any help from the community is greatly appreciated.
And if you're an apple fanboy please withhold your flaming my opinion is my own and it was largely influenced by the crap software apple offers.

When you double click on of the these blank thumbnails to view the photo in a larger size do you?
First make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - delete  the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
    Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot and the option to rebuild the small thumbnails.
Then see if you can drag the  thumbnails to iPhoto's trash and remove them permanently.

  • Once USB disk sleeps, gone for good.

When my Lacie 500 GB USB 2 disk sleeps (and sometimes even when it doesn't), it becomes unavailable to the network. It is plugged into the USB port of the AEBS via a powered Keyspan 2.0 hub.
Most of the time it works fine, mounting automatically on my MacBook and/or manually on my G4 iMac, but sometimes the green light on the hub goes out (sometimes not) and the disk is no longer available. Time interval before this happens is very random, but if the disk is mounted and in use it stays that way with no glitches. It's only when things are inactive that it tends to disappear, though if it has been working it also usually remounts just fine after the MacBook sleeps. I have checked for firmware updates for the Lacie (none) and have all the latest updates on the other hardware (both Macs running 10.4.11).
When it's "gone," it won't show up in Airdisk Utility or the menu or via the Go-->Connect to server menu. Sometimes unplugging the AC power for the hub and re-powering brings it back. If that fails, then unplugging and reconnecting the Lacie's USB cable sometimes works. Last resort, which always works, is power-cycling the drive itself.
When I look in the AEBS logs, it often shows "USB disk unplugged" when the disk has disappeared.
    Any thoughts/advice?
    -dan

No luck, but thanks for a very good diagnostic suggestion.
With the disk plugged directly into the AEBS USB port, it slept and dropped off the network. Plugging it into the hub did not revive it; it took a power-cycle of the drive.
    Are your drives partitioned?

  • Is my onboard soundcard gone for good?

im using a HP Pavillion dv6645us and my sound hardware is intermittantly turning off during use. when it turns off though, its gone until restart. now even when i restart it wont operate at all. im unable to install any drivers because the hardware is not found at all. my volume control has a red x over it and when clicking on it just brings up the troubleshooting program which only tells me that "hardware changes have not been detected" but offers no solutions.
ive been using Windows 7 RC1 for months now, and have only been having this problem for a few days now.
should i start looking for an expressport soundcare?

I also read the feedback forum... and noticed that "about" 9 out of 10 messages were completely off the topic that was stated on the main page
It may be that "someone" at Adobe simply tired of so much off topic chatter and decided to delete that forum

  • Ipod Nano - Stuck in limbo, or gone for good?

A long, long time ago, in a time when the nano was first released, I bought one... Unfortunately, it quickly became useless as my music library expanded. So, I upgraded to an 80GB Video. Anywho, I decided to keep my nano, but since I wouldn't be using it, I put it in a box and put it away.
Recently, I dug up the old nano, just for kicks. Figured I'd attempt to power it on as a joke, was sure the battery would be dead. Didn't turn on. No big deal, I thought, it had been sitting for awhile. So, I plugged it in to my Mac mini. I didn't get any response on the mini to indicate that the nano was even hooked up, but I figured it was just cause the battery was so drained that it needed to charge up for a bit. So, I left it plugged in over night.
The next morning, I woke up, checked on the nano, still nothing. Tried the "Reset" method amongst several other techniques to get the nano working, and still nothing.
To sum up, I get absolutely 0 response from this nano. Nothing on the iPod when it's plugged in, nothing on the computer when it's plugged in, and the screen just stays in "off" mode. I've tried the standard things (Different computer, different USB port, etc.) but since my Video works fine on this set up, it really shouldn't be an issue.
So, can anyone tell me, what's up with my iPod? Is it dead? Or just really really asleep?
    Thanks.

The battery is probably dead and needs replacing. You can't leave an iPod battery for a long time without regular charging (even if not in use). The battery needs to be "exercised".
Lithium-ion batteries ( like the one in the iPod) need to be used. If you don’t use your iPod at all, it's recommended to complete a charge cycle at least once a month in order to keep it in working condition.
