Music disappearing from phone ios 7

Ever since updating to ios 7 (and still with 7.0.2), some of my music has been randomly disappearing from the music app. I'll select a song, then the song will then skip to the next song and onto the next and so on until it finds a song that plays. You can see the artwork of the record(s) flip many times and the song track name change. If it can't find a song, it will dump me back to the Artist list. I read a few other forums where beta testers were reportin this back in July, but couldn't find any resolution.  My only real resolution is syncing the phone with itunes, removing all the songs & podcasts, then putting the songs back.
I do have a few ideas on what is causing this. I'm big into podcasts and sync my phone with itunes many times a day to make the played/uplayed list on the podcast app on the phone and the podcast section of itunes match up perfectly. I figured to rely on my phone to look at what was played and then have the podcast in itunes be marked as played, but this doesn't happen all the time... the phone keeps the played podcasts on the phone (when it shouldn't) and doesn't put all the unplayed podcasts on the phone. I would then mark what was played on the phone and then in itunes and sync the phone again so only unplayed podcasts show on the phone and sync again. During this second sync, the "waiting for changes to be applied" shows on itunes for a long time before finally completing. I feel this would be the cause to my problem, the syncing one after the other after manually correcting. I'll see if manually maintaining my podcasts on my phone and itunes will prevent the issue, but I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem

I just now noticed my iphone 4s/ios7 doing the same thing.  Insanely frustrating!
I synced last night as I had some new music I wanted on my iphone.  all of the new music is playing but anything that was previously on there is deleting itself when I try to play it.
This is maybe the first time I've synced since the 7.0.2 update.  I guess I'll to manually remove all of the music and then add it back in to see if it works.
I've been generall disappointed with the ios7 music app and have been considering a music app called in:play as it looks to have better navigation functionality.  This may be the impetus I need to try it out.
An insight to this problem would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

  • 4.3 upgrade on 3GS, Music disappears from phone once you download a Podcast

Anyone having the same problem? Since I've upgraded to 4.3, if I download a podcast on my phone via wifi, all my music disappears and so do my podcasts. They are still on the phone but it says "there is no music, download from iTunes"
Music is easily restored if I connect the phone with my mac and play a song from my phone through iTunes.
Anyone know how to "cure" this?

The basics from the manual are reset, restart, restore.
Have you tried any of these?

  • Music disappearing from phone

Music that I have purchased from iTunes directly from my 5S has disappeared from the phone music library. I'm not sure when exactly it started, but they are disappearing at random. I never connect my phone to a computer for syncing, only to charge (connect to my work computer to charge, but it is not linked to an iTunes account on this computer). The music does not all delete at once, but a little at a time. At first I thought I was crazy and was thinking of music that I had downloaded to my iPod and not my iPhone, but now I'm certain that songs that have been purchased & downloaded directly to the phone are no longer there. They are in my cloud to re-download, but I need to know why they are randomly disappearing one by one from my phone. It's been old and new purchases that are disappearing. I'm still operating on OS 8.1.2 and have not yet downloaded 8.1.3.

  • How do you stop synched iTunes music disappearing from my iPhone 5?

I have about 35G of music on my iTunes on my iMac, a good % of it having been purchased on ITunes.  The music sync setting for my iPhone 5 is automatic / everything.
For the past couple of months, I've been noticing music disappearing from my iPhone when it's offline (eg on the plane, when I listen to my music on my iPhone the most).  Such music would come back as "in the cloud" when I regain wifi / data access.  I would then download them onto my iPhone again.  And then they would disappear again!  How can I stop such annoying behavior?  Does switching music sync to manual help?  Thank you.

    Hello claire267
In the Messages app, in the drop down menu go to Messages > Preferences. Once there click the Accounts tab and then remove the iMessage account and that will stop all messages associate with your phone number from showing up on your computer.

  • Music disappearing from playlists after sync with itunes?

So I have a bunch of songs that I ripped from CDs or got the MP3 files from friends. I add some of them to a playlist, that's fine. But when I purchase a few songs from iTunes on my phone and add them to the playlist, they appear there temporarily. The problem happens when I sync my phone with iTunes, then all of my purchased music disappears from the playlist. It's still on my phone, but not in the playlist. Why does it do this, and how do I fix it? This is really discouraging me from using iTunes. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • IPhone glitch: Music disappears from iPhone...

For reasons unknown to myself, music has disappeared from my iPhone. I set up iTunes to look for an external hard drive for my music. So, whenever I want to play my music through iTunes, I plugged in my external HD first, and then launched iTunes. This has worked fine for a long time. Then one day, I noticed an iTunes folder on my MacBook Pro's local hard drive that contained ALL of my music. The whole point of my putting my music on an ext HD was to free up my laptop hard drive. Simple enough, yes? Common choice? Yes.
I recently changed my preferences in iTunes to NOT copy music from my iTunes Library after noticing that my entire music collection was being copied to my MacBook Pro's hard drive. Since then I've noticed music disappearing from my iPhone. Is this because of my preference change? Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance.

My mistake. I think it's a problem with iTunes and not the iPhone. Music that I had added to my iTunes library has mysteriously disappeared.

  • Contacts disappeared from phone after iOS 4.2 update

I updated my iPhone 4 to the new iOS 4.2 and after some contacts disappeared from my phone but are still on my computer. I've tried resetting sync history, I even restored the phone and the same contacts still won't show up. I have a PC that runs Windows 7, I've been using it since September and I never had this issue before.

    Welcome to the discussions,
did you also try to use the option to replace all contacts on the phone with the ones on the computer during the following sync? You can find this option in the info pane, advanced section.

  • Purchased Music disappear from iphone and i must download it again.

I purchased Music from itunes in my iphone. After 3-4 it disappear from iphone. I always must download it from itunes. Help Me Please.
*I not good for english *
    Iphone 5 ios 8.1.1 Thanks.

Not long ago my wife signed on to my Apple ID so she could get some of my songs. Maybe that has something to do with it? I double checked that my apple ID was the one that purchased the songs and is the current ID signed on to my phone. Also, just to see if it made any difference. I signed out of my ID and signed back in, now all of the songs that were listed and needing to be downloaded are gone completely. I went to iTunes and they are showing as purchased but not able to download. any suggestions?

  • Music disappearing from iPhone after iTunes Wifi Sync

I have an iPhone 4S and a Mac Mini (2010). On four or five occasions since upgrading to OS X 10.8.2 and iOS 6, after a wi-fi sync, all or almost all of my music has disappeared from my phone (sometimes the most recent podcasts remain).
Simply syncing again (over wi-fi or USB) doesn't fix it. To fix it, I need to uncheck "Sync Music" and "Sync Podcasts" on the Mac, sync, recheck them, and sync again. Then it works for a while.
Additional context: like others, I've been experiencing other issues with wi-fi sync since installing iOS 6. In general, I can't initiate a sync from the phone, either manually or by plugging it in. I can sync from the Mac, but sometimes the Mac becomes unable to find the iPhone on the network. Turning off wi-fi and turning it back on again seems to fix this and allow the Mac to initiate a sync.
Shortly after installing iOS 6, I restored the iPhone and set it up as a new phone, hoping that would fix the sync connectivity problems (it didn't). More recently, I restored from backup. Didn't help.
Is anyone else experiencing the disappearance of the music? Any suggestions? Is it likely to be an iPhone problem or a Mac problem?
    Thanks
    Ben

The exact same problem has been happening on my iPhone as well. Very irritating. Drives me mad.
Although unfortunately I don't have a solution, I would like to ask you something. When you were setting up your iPhone, did you choose to restore from iCloud so that your iTunes purchased musics would fly into your decive?
The reason I'm asking this is that in my opinion, a conflict happens when making a Wi-Fi sync about deciding music storage so that an erase happens by itself. And it's probably a corner case so that it doesn't happen every time.
Also, as a side note, all the countless times I Wi-Fi synced my iPad, which was not iCloud restored, nothing like this never ever happened.

  • Purchased Music Disappearing from iPhone?

My purchased music randomly disappears from my iPhone 6 (16GB).  This happens to some songs, not all.
    Details:
I purchase music from iTunes directly from my phone.
These are songs that I have had for months.
Go to play them and they are gone.
I go to the store and repurchase (download again).
    Why are they randomly disappearing?
    Very frustrating.

I'm having the same problem. Albums/songs that I've purchased on my iphone5 through iTunes keep disappearing from my music library. When I switch on the 'show all' setting in the iTunes and App store settings I can see it there again and download from the cloud, but it's still a pain in the *** having the keep re-downloading music that i've already downloaded! It only ever seems to be the last album I purchased that it happens to, and there doesn't seem to be any pattern to when or why it disappears. I thought maybe it might be to do with the overnight backup process, but my phone backs up every night when I plug it in to charge and the music doesn't disappear every night! It seems completely random. I go looking for a particular song and it just isn't there anymore. I've scoured the net but can't find a reason why this is happening.
It's an iphone5 on ios 8.0  Anybody got any ideas?

  • Music disappearing from iphone 6

I have an iPhone 6 128 GB. I went to put some music on it via iTunes and my macbook pro 13. I do not SYNC, I manually manage my music files. I noticed a large portion of my songs has been removed from my phone. When I plug my phone in and click on my device in iTunes, and then click on the music folder it shows all the songs to be there still, but they are not, when I click on them the ! appears as the file can't be found since it isn't on my device. After researching this problem it seems there are no answers yet as to why this is happening, and so far the only solution was to erase all music off my phone and start re-adding it. So I did, a little annoying, but hey that's life.  Problem is, I encountered a whole new issue.
I had my phone plugged in and was manually adding music to it, I had the music open so that I could see when the Artist/songs were added to the phone and to make sure it was adding everything properly. I took it very slow. One artist at a time, wait until all is downloaded and move to the next. I got around 962 songs added successfully, and right as I was adding Billy Joel the screen flashed and in a pink lettering it read
    No Content
You can download music from the iTunes Store
and it shows that I have no music on my phone, however, when I click on my device in iTunes and click on the music folder it shows them to be there, this time when I click on those tracks they play instead of showing the !.  What is going on? When will this problem be addressed and fixed? The sole purpose of having a 128GB phone was to have a single device for phone/music and now my music is disappearing for some reason. Thanks in advance to all those who are more knowledgable than I am, that will help resolve this.

just as an update, I removed iTunes 12 and re-installed it, everything was working great, for like 1000 songs, I was some where in the C's of my artist when the screen flashed to the home screen, and when I opened up  the music app it gave the same No Content Message. Perhaps this is just a faulty phone?

  • Music disappearing from iPhone

I have a number of albums that disappear from my iphone every time I sync it, unless I have the sync set to manual for music. It's the same albums everytime, plus the same tracks from one more album.
Why do these albums keep disappearing from the phone even though they stay in itunes, they are checked, and sync quite happily manually?

if you are doing automatic syncing, you have to have those songs in a playlist and have that playlist setup to sync in order for them to stay on the iPhone.

  • Over half of my music disappeared from my music library after updating to itunes 10.7

I use a Windows 7 operating system.  Since updating my iTunes to the latest version, 10.7, over half of my music has disappeared from my music library.  All 851 songs remain on my iPod, but my library shows only 187 songs after syncing my iPod with iTunes.  Also, while trying to sync my iPod to my iTunes, I'm constantly being asked to authorize my computer (it's already authorized) and an unknown email address displays in the account sign-in window to sign in when trying to sync my iPod.  I did not have these issues with iTunes before updating to the recent version. Any help is appreciated!

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
